What is *this* horseshit?

I didn't unilaterally proclaim myself the McDonalds Champion after seeing that mocked up US Championship (which I actually rebranded into the TPWW TL;DR FTW Serious-Fucking-Business Championship, but that isn't the point) just to have the actual company besmirch my reign by handing out an inferior looking chunk of shit!

When people say wins and losses don't matter in the WWE that's only half true. Losses matter, wins don't. Dean Ambrose beat the face of the company and a week after it happened it was never mentioned again.

Sticking a camera in your room and talking/singing to it and then uploading the video to YouTube doesn't mean you're famous.

Well, in my opinion anyway.

Maybe they inherited the Samoan trait of headbutss having no effect. Since a piledriver is a form of a headbutt with the mat, it wouldn't work.

It was Lawler's idea. He thought it would make them seem even more dangerous. This was back when Piledrivers were banned in Tennessee, because they were so dangerous. So the visual was this: "We just hit them with the most dangerous move in wrestling, and that didn't even slow them down. NOW WHAT?!?"

That angle did provide an awesome quote though when Animal and Droz had a match and a drunken Hawk stumbled out, sat at the announce table and told JR and Lawler that he was there to do some color dysentery.

So has Orton actually officially joined the Wyatts?

I remember hearing about it and just assuming it was another Daniel Bryan/Wyatts or Orton/Authority thing where he joins just to turn face again. But it seems like this is a legit thing.

Also, is it good/watchable?

Looks like it's official. They won the tag titles together, and Luke Harper took a gore for Orton which prompted Orton to hand him the belt after he won it. I mean this is clearly leading to Orton turning on them, but it seems like they're actually slow burning toward it this time. As for whether or not it's watchable, well, it's current WWE, man... If you're not currently watching the product regularly like a moron then I'd say, no, it's not worth watching.

I've never bought the whole "this person has X-amount views and X-amount subscribers" thing as a way of measuring someones online success and status as a "celebrity".

For all we know, a good whack of those subscribers could be spam accounts and people's old accounts (or multiple old accounts) along with their new (or newest) accounts.

As for the views, I really doubt the number of views applies to each individual. If a video has a million views, I doubt exactly one million individuals watched that video. People watch videos more than once, which contributes the the view count each time one person watches the video again and again.

So all these numbers that get thrown around when "YouTube Celebrities" are spoken about mean nothing to me, as the number is most likely way smaller when in reference to individuals.

I don't know, I think it would all depend on who you talk to. For example, sports fans would probably know the random wrestler over a random little girl, whereas fans of pretty much anything mainstream (especially music), would probably know the little girl over the wrestler.

Gender comes into it too. I'd say more males would know the wrestler more and more females would know the little girl more.

As for Bieber, I think most of his "YouTube Success" can be put down to little girls who thought he was "hot" and "cute" because of his appearance and that he sang.

You give teenyboppers a "cute guy" and make him sing songs about being in love with them and how he would treat them if he was their boyfriend and you've got easy success and money.

It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Gabriel Iglesias is his name. He's a relatively big (no that's not a pun because he's fat...) stand-up comedian. He even had a "movie" that was in theaters for a while. I say movie in quotation marks because it was really just him doing stand-up for an hour+. His name sounds familiar. I'm sure I came across him on the internet way back in 2009 or something.

Unless they're a big movie star, singer or a big name in a sport that's not American Football, Baseball or Basketball, I'm pretty sure anyone outside of North America will not have a clue who they are.

My knowledge of pop culture is "shockingly bad" these days.

It's probably because pop culture these days mostly consists of The Internet, but also the usuals like "must watch" TV shows and chart music and I really don't give a crap about any of those, so I'm "left behind" as a result.

I see all these young people on TV and I'm left wondering who the hell they are and the vast majority of the time, it turns out they're someone from "The Internet/YouTube".

As for the "must watch" TV shows like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and so on, I really have no interest in those shows, so the actors/actresses in them are basically unknowns to me.

As for music, like your typical lovable old curmudgeon, I think all popular music is shit these days, so obviously I don't listen to it and these singers, much like the YouTube guys, are just random young people to me.

Who?

Also, I really really hope SmackDown isn't going down the same road Raw did a few years ago when it comes to celebrities.

Who? Gabriel Iglesias. He's like second to Kevin Hart for current hot male standup comedians and is a fan.

Mr. Nerfect 12-09-2016 09:00 PM

Who cares? He sucks and no one is going to watch SmackDown for Fluffy.

I don't know, man. As meh as the guy is I know a lot of people who like him. Plus I'd argue he's a bigger name than any of the wrestlers today, minus Cena of course.

Mr. Nerfect 12-09-2016 10:02 PM

Oh, he's a bigger name than Dean Ambrose, but no one will watch because of him. It's an irrelevant crossover, just like the RAW Guest Star spots they used to do.

Mr. Nerfect 12-09-2016 10:03 PM

There's no chance of him interacting in any sort of meaningful way with anyone. Bring in a boxer or a sports star. Bring in someone that people might buy will have some interaction with talent.

Droford 12-10-2016 12:39 AM

Gabriel Iglesias for the Drew Carey spot in the Royal Rumble

Lock Jaw 12-10-2016 12:50 AM

I have heard the name Gabriel Iglesias before, but thought he was a singer or something

You're thinking of Enrique Iglesias.

Lock Jaw 12-10-2016 01:06 AM

Oh ya..... then maybe I never heard the name......

I think you're still under the impression that wrestling can make sense/be good. We really need to break the rest of that hopefully spirit, Noid.

Mr. Nerfect 12-10-2016 02:07 AM

Ha! Fair point.

Mr. Nerfect 12-10-2016 02:07 AM

Actually, given how much of a bad joke WWE has become, maybe fans of Fluffy's will stick around?

I mean anyone dumb enough to listen to his stand-up for more than 10 minutes straight is likely just as dumb as I am for watching WWE on a regular basis these days. So honestly it wouldn't be the craziest thing to happen lol.

His work is great and I've been a bigger fan of his since he left. His WCPW matches were fantastic as well.

That was basically nWo with better production values.

Which leads me to ask this:

Were we so dumb in the '90s that we just bought that the New World Order, that had "Trillionaire Ted" (DiBiase), Hulk Hogan, and Eric Bischoff as members, could only afford shit cameras and half assed editing for their segments?

If anything, the production values of their spots should have been better than WCW as a whole.

Droford 12-10-2016 02:38 PM

The nWo had a lot of money but they had to spend it to buy the spots ("the following announcement has been paid for by the new world order")

Couldn't Bischoff, with his stroke, not give them a discounted rate?

He'll have to be careful not to do that too many times or his balls will be aching later.

Trust me.
