I also have this issue, but actually have not read it yet. :(

It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter. But according to them he's only in negotiations, he's not signed up as yet.
Pfft, he's got it. Nose knows.
Great casting choice, tbh. Can definitely see it.
Siege #3 is out. Pretty fucking awesome, but I'm not feeling this 4 issue deal. Feels a bit rushed, and some of these fights deserve more time.
SPOILER: show |
Dude...the Sentry's only as powerful as he thinks he is.
Hulk can and probably will kick his ass. |
Pretty excited about 616 side of things. Haven't been this interested in the Avengers since New Avengers.

Also, we don't know what sentry really is yet. Norman is the only one who knows. Suspect we'll find out in the last issue. |
Apparently Fox still wants to do X4, continuing the story of the trilogy mutants. This is hard to believe, as the original trilogy ended in a messy 'reboot welcome' climax, but the return of Bryan Singer to the franchise and the Wolverine series may be setting up a return to the trilogy universe. The First Class prequel is still on tap with Singer directing.
Hmm... It would seem that First Class won't kick off a new series after all, and it will be reformatted in the Singer-verse with him returning. I'm guessing it'll be a one shot, explaining a few things for 'series retrospect'. Once that and Wolverine 2 is out of the way, we return to the present to see the modern X-Men - Bobby Drake and company grown up and taking on Sentinels if there's a God. This is all theory based on the tidbit that Fox still wants an X4 since Singer returned. Because between X4 (sequel), Wolverine 2 (spin-off/prequel/sequel), First Class (prequel/reboot), and Deadpool (spin-off/reboot)... it's looking kind of confusing. |
Good.
To be honest I hate all these ideas of rebooting everything. Spider-Man, X-Men etc, come on. X-Men 3 wasn't that bad (I liked it), and I see no problem in continuing from there, introducing more characters and possibly have someone like Apocalypse as the bad guy.
Plus those are still fairly fresh. It wouldn't make sense to reboot them all. I think we all were ok with rebooting the hulk, because the first one they did in the current line of comic book movies was flat out awful.
The Hulk wasnt really a reboot though. Also it would be kinda hard to go on with an x4 in the same universe because there would be no more cyclops, jean, rogue, or professor x in the way we saw him last.

Chris Evans, who played Johnny Storm in two Fantastic Four films and who also stars in two other comic book-based films due out this summer, The Losers and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, has been offered the key role of Captain America. Reportedly the deal includes three Captain America movies, a similar number of Avengers films as well as appearances in several other Marvel movies (see “Cap Actor Will Get 9-Picture Deal”).
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that Evans has been offered the title role in Captain America: The First Avenger, which Joe Johnston (The Wolfman) is directing. According to The Reporter, the film will be shot in England and released on July 22nd, 2011. If the report is correct and Evans does take the job, it will mark the end of one of the major casting competitions of recent years. A horde of hunky young actors including Michael Cassidy, Patrick Flueger, Wilson Bethel, Chace Crawford, John Krasinski, Mike Vogel, Scott Crawford, and Garrett Hedlund have all been mentioned in conjunction with the role (see “Captain America Casting Underway”). |

As for an X-4 or Spiderman X I really think they should focus on Avengers for a while before doing anything with those franchises. |
Different studios, so they don't really conflict.
Happy for Evans but... I don't know. At least that mystery's done with.
Wow, didn't see that coming, but I dunno, I reckon Evans could pull it off.

It's dawning on me that they're seriously heading toward Avengers on screen. It's gonna be a party!
The casting of Captain America and Thor is peculiar as far as star power is concerned. It's not that I care about that, because I don't. I only care that the director picks the right actor for the role.
But The Avengers is going to be a huge production, and it's going to be strange for the "leader" to be a lesser star than Robert Downey and Ed Norton. Wouldn't be suprised if they played it, or at least marketed it, to seem like Iron Man is the leader of the Avengers and Captain America more of a sidekick. I honestly was expecting them to cast big for CA and Thor. Like real big. |
Quote:
Really doubt that. Even people who don't read comics recognize Cap as a far more iconic and important character than Iron Man. I don't think people will have trouble buying a lesser actor in the role of leader, for that reason. |
Also, even though cap has always been recognized as the "official" leader, he's always kind of co-run the avengers with Iron Man.
Except when Iron Man was a filthy drunkard. |
If the movies leading up to it are all a success, Evans and the guy playing Thor will be 'big' by then.
Read an article where Alex Ross suggested Jon Hamm for Cap. That could've been perfect casting.
I see Ed Norton is only rumored on imdb for Avengers. How rumored is he? What is the issue?
They haven't approached him or anything, and you don't need Hulk's human form technically. He had some beef with IH's director over editing and tone (Norton wrote most of IH), but he's cool with Marvel Studios. It's more an expectation than a rumor, I'd say.
Due to scheduling conflict, Bryan Singer will now produce X-Men: First Class rather than direct it.
So they're really going with the reboot then eh?
Yes... and no. They still want to make X-Men 4 and X-Men: First Class concurrently. It's all pretty messy.
Hollywood's fave word at the moment 'Reboot'.
lol I remember that show, Megabyte and all lol
Loved that show. Especialy when they went all post-apocalyptic.
Apparently Joss Whedon is at the top of the shortlist of possible directors for The Avengers.
Never watched any of his tv shows, but astonishing x-men was one of the best runs on a book ever, so I'm good with that.
He was supposed to handle Wonder Woman, back when WB seemed to have a plan.
Is that a real rumor or an April 1st thing? This is why I hate being on the internet on this day.
As seems to be the case with Marvel's movies, do not leave after the last shot in Iron Man 2. Or next year's Thor and Captain America for that matter. Special surprises are in store in line with Stark's cameo in Incredible Hulk.
