Absolutely loved Squid Game. It's not often I ever find a show that I want to binge like that but I just got hooked and couldn't wait to see where it went next. Major spoilers ahoy:

SPOILER: show
Episode 6, as everyone said, was absolutely devastating. I genuinely gasped at the announcement that you'd be playing your partner with the loser being eliminated. It's something I should've expected but for whatever reason I didn't. And I then spent the entire episode cringing watching each individual game unfold. Ali's ending just about brought me to tears, he was much too trusting for that game.

The contrast of Gi-hun and Sang-woo's cheating. Gi-hun feeling riddled with guilt the entire time and Sang-woo being relatively stone faced knowing he did what he had to do. But it also makes you face some cold introspection because no matter how much you don't want to admit it, you'd have probably done the same thing in their shoes. I mean it's that or take a bullet to the brain.

I knew very early on that the cop's brother was involved in the games in some capacity, I just didn't know if he was a random soldier or whatever. Once the files showed he won I thought he could be the Front Man.

But 001...fuck. In the first few episodes I did have a passing thought that he could be involved. There were little things, he gleefully played the first game and seemed unphased by everyone dying. The voting system ensured he'd vote last. Him managing to be the only one to get to a safe place during the night battle and the carnage only stopping when he called for it. But I thought I was overthinking it. By the time episode 6 came around the thought never crossed my mind. Even his death not being shown didn't raise a red flag to me because Ali got popped off-camera too.

Did the VIP’s almost ruin it for you?

Evil Vito 10-21-2021 02:43 PM

The VIPs were terrible but I also didn't think they were meant to have any redeeming qualities.

It's weird because I don't want the VIPs in a season 2 but also know that them meeting their demise would be satisfying.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-24-2021 05:07 PM

I've just finished watching the four seasons of Cadfael. It is a mid-1990s detective series, set in the C12th and revolves around the sleuthing of a Benedictine monk, Brother Cadfael, played by Derek Jacobi. I've seen some of it over the years, but until now I don't think I'd ever seen an episode all the way through. Derek Jacobi is fantastic in it, and it has surprisingly high production value for a mid-90s UK television series. If you like "whodunnits" with a difference, try it out.

I'm on to the final series of 30 Rock. I think I've enjoyed the show more the second time round. As like a lot of series, particularly comedy series, the quality dips after the third series, but it remains consistently high. Though, my attraction to Tina Fey might be clouding my judgement.

I'm two episodes into the Amazon series, Leonardo, which is based on Leonardo Da Vinci. I like it so far; the only weak aspect is the chap who played Norman Bates in Bates Motel, but he is not in it much.

Seanny One Ball 10-24-2021 05:49 PM

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you were raised in an old folks home.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-25-2021 12:45 PM

Cadfael does give that impression, but it is pretty good.

Seanny One Ball 10-25-2021 03:53 PM

Why don’t you go and suck Derek Jobbycock off of you love Cadfael so much, hmmm?!

Fignuts 10-25-2021 08:34 PM

No way is his name really Jobbycock.

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2021 06:28 AM

That’s how you are supposed to pronounce it anyway

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2021 06:28 AM

Just like Alan ChewDick

drave 10-26-2021 10:18 AM

Or Andy Dick

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2021 01:04 PM

You’ve got the wrong idea

drave 10-26-2021 01:07 PM

Is there ever the right idea with Andy Dick? No, I thought not.

Carry on.

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2021 02:22 PM

I honestly think Andy Dick would have made a great heel wrestling manager and I’ve said it before.

Lock Jaw 10-29-2021 03:19 PM

Finally watched the season 3 premiere of Doom Patrol/covid-delayed finale to season 2. Love this show.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-04-2021 02:28 PM

30 Rock done, Leonard done, and I've just finished rewatching The Pillars of the Earth.

I now need to find another series or 2 to watch.

Lock Jaw 11-04-2021 09:36 PM

Damn, the new Dexter starts on Sunday

Sepholio 11-06-2021 12:43 AM

Watching Sisyphus on Netflix.

Seanny One Ball 11-15-2021 07:41 PM

What We Do In The Shadows the TV series is so good. The stupidly high joke count makes repeat viewings very easy. So much talent.

drave 11-17-2021 09:29 AM

Westworld S3.

Forgot about it.

Lock Jaw 11-17-2021 09:32 AM

Never watched S2 (except the first episode). S1 just seemed like a "complete" story to me so I wasn't so compelled to watch.... the fact that no one was talking about it also did not help. Everyone was hyped and talking about S1 and I have heard like zero people talk about S2 or 3.

XL 11-17-2021 09:53 AM

Went back to American Horror Story having watched Season 1-3 we skipped to S7 then haven’t watched. Watched American Horror Stories and picked up from S8 which seemed interesting…until it became a crossover with S3, incorporated Hotel which I haven’t watched and then went back to Murder House which induced eye rolls from me. I liked the idea that you can pick and choose what you watch so the fact there’s so many call backs has annoyed me. I liked the recurring cast but having them play 3 characters in the same season is meh. Still got a few eps to go but not holding out much hope.

Two definitely expounded on S1 and you should watch it. I've only watched E1 so far, and it is interesting, but there are a lot of questions.

Seanny One Ball 11-17-2021 03:16 PM

Season 2 wasn’t bad at all, it just wasn’t 100% brilliant like season 1.
Plot holes and annoying shite aside, it does have a tremendous story with Peter Mullan that really picked the season up as a whole.

drave 11-18-2021 08:33 AM

On S3E3 now - and yeah, it's definitely worth a watch so far.

Ties in to a lot of "real world tech" right now too, which I'm into, and probably why it strikes a chord with me.

drave 11-18-2021 08:58 AM

Actually starting to remind me of the Fallout 4 plot..... in SOME ways.

I should really watch the Reno 911 series all the way through from start to finish. I’m not sure why I never have before, I used to love catching it on tv. The film wasn’t half bad either - I always wondered if a weed whacker would fuck your face up but I am too scared to test it out.

drave 11-18-2021 03:52 PM

they will.

source: have used one on someone

drave 11-19-2021 09:17 AM

Aaron Paul is ridiculously good in Westworld S3.

Just finished up the episode titled "Genre" where there's a party drug that sends you through 5 "genres of movies" and the expressions and changes he goes through are done VERY well.

Overall, great season thus far.

GD 11-19-2021 02:19 PM

I finished Midnight Mass.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-19-2021 02:43 PM

I've been watching old seasons of Lark Rise to Candleford.

It is essentially an old people show or for those who want something gentle to watch on a Sunday evening, but I kind of like it. I also like Julia Sawalha.

Blonde Moment 11-19-2021 09:23 PM

Can't stop watching Hit Monkey on Hulu

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-21-2021 04:28 PM

Rewatched World Without End, which is set in the same fictional town of Kingsbridge as its predecessor, The Pillars of the Earth, but 200 years later. Not as good as the former, but good enough.

The Fraze 11-23-2021 04:14 AM

Tb1 has had me watch a few shows start to finish this year and his selections seem to be based on the fact that he knows I will become infatuated with the female lead or supporting character.

drave 11-23-2021 09:34 AM

Finished up Westworld S3. Seemed to move very fast compared to the first two seasons, with tons more action.

implications from the last episode are huge and could go a few different ways. Either way, if they do continue the series, I will watch.
