I happen to still have 'childlike wonder', cynical as I am.

I can still appreciate a full moon, mountain range, waterfall, boobs.

Tom Guycott 01-07-2013 01:02 AM

Boobs should not be included there. You can be about as disgruntled at the world as Stinkmeaner, and still enjoy titties in your face. Also, counter-intuitive to the whole "childlike wonder" aspect, unless you're looking at boobs as a source of nutrition instead of fun.

I doubt little Hal is thinking of chesticles there.

Shot From Upcoming DC Animated Feature; "Superman Unbound":

http://static.tvguide.com/Includes/n...irl-embed1.jpg

The movie is based on the Brainiac storyline from a few years ago. Enjoy this, because after this the animated movies may take design cues from DCnU with the old universe killing Flashpoint event becoming an animated movie.

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 04:49 PM

Cool. Didn't even know they were making this Superman Unbound movie.

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 04:52 PM

Would be "cool" if they did a "New Krypton" movie afterwards. Story would obviously need to be much abbreviated, but that could be a good thing.

Kalyx triaD 01-07-2013 04:53 PM

Yeah, that was an interesting concept.

McLegend 01-07-2013 05:29 PM

Why can't they do old DC universe movies and new DC universe animated movies?

Would anyone have a problem with that?

Kalyx triaD 01-07-2013 05:31 PM

DC.

McLegend 01-07-2013 05:33 PM

Damn them

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 05:53 PM

Kalyx is just talking out his ass again. Nothing to support his claim that they will not be making old DC Universe movies.

Kalyx triaD 01-07-2013 05:56 PM

MOTHER OF GOD:

Quote:

First rumored by Latino Review last fall, IGN has now confirmed with Guillermo del Toro that plans are underway for a DC Comics ensemble film that will star quite a few of the company's supernatural characters. Similar in lineup to the current "Justice League Dark" series, the film version is being developed with the title Dark Universe and has just hired a mystery writer.

"I'm working on it," del Toro says. "I'm writing the outline and we're already in talks with a writer. A very, very good writer. People are probably going to be happy with who we have chosen. He accepted. I've been courting this writer, who I think is the perfect guy for this job. We're doing it. Hopefully it will happen."

The Pacific Rim director goes on to hint that the lineup for the project includes Swamp Thing, The Demon, John Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre and the father/daughter pair of Zatara and Zatanna.

"The movement for this happened before [The Avengers]," del Toro adds about DC building its own cinematic universe. "They were already galvanized to launch 'Justice League' and they were galvanized to make their universe cohesive... They are really, really, with 'Superman', very, very confident with what they have. They are now feeling they have two pillars. Batman and Superman... There's a foundation that now they can build on."
I couldn't even report this right I just copy-pasta'd the whole thing. Holy shit.

Green Lantern is the new Batman! Wonder Woman is a man! The villain can be defeated with wood and is allergic to water! What a twist!

Lock Jaw 01-08-2013 12:07 AM

I seriously think Swamp Thing (with John Constantine in his supporting cast) and The Spectre could support solo movies.

In the case of Swamp Thing, a reboot. Since he already had one or two movies.

Don't know how it will go introducing that many obscure characters in one film.

Lock Jaw 01-08-2013 12:07 AM

Nevertheless, I hope it is true.

Not sure where else to put this, but the guys at ScrewAttack, with help from the folks at Kanzenshuu, The Dao of Dragonball, the Superman Home Page, and the Superman Super Site, have put together probably the most extensive and exhaustive breakdown to finally settle the old "Superman vs. Goku" debate once and for all:

Anybody know a good Clayface arc for Batman? Looking for specific issues or a graphic novel

Lock Jaw 01-13-2013 09:39 PM

Alan Moore wrote a story about Clayface once. Batman Annual #11. Not about the one people are most familiar with, but I remember thinking it was a cool story.

I also remember something about a "Mud Pack" storyline that I had maybe one or two issues of when I was a kid but remember nothing about.

Krimzon7 01-14-2013 12:12 AM

I was missing Captian Marvel.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/d_32P7Dzu5s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Lock Jaw 01-14-2013 12:33 AM

I like how they are interviewing the kids who they rescued, but Stephanie Brown is nowhere in sight.

Kalyx triaD 01-14-2013 12:55 AM

I noticed. Whatever, DC.

Big ups for Static Shock, though.

Krimzon7 01-14-2013 01:51 AM

Dude, Stephanie Brown wasn't a metahuman. Only Meta Humans were in the hallway.

You guys are looking too deep into the conspiracy. technically Stephanie Brown wasn't abducted long enough to have had any contact/experimaentation with the reach.

Krimzon7 01-14-2013 01:51 AM

Was it just me, or did Captian Atom look 'depleted' after he tried to blast the pyramid?

Kalyx triaD 01-14-2013 02:06 AM

They still would have questioned her, as they did Blue and Impulse. It wasn't an interview, it was an investigation. We're not calling it a conspiracy, but there's a good chance she was removed from whatever they had planned for her.

Or maybe it was a cameo that would lead to nothing anyway, but bear in mind there is a generational theme with this season as the original Team have their own proteges. It may have been planned that Barbara would recruit Steph as a new Batgirl (or simply Spoiler if DC wants to sell Babs as THE Batgirl right now). I wouldn't put it past them.

And while it would be easy to remove Steph or recolor her hair, the best flag would be any plots involving Babs that should lead to a Steph introduction/promotion but doesn't.

Lock Jaw 01-14-2013 02:15 AM

I was pulling for L-Ron to stick around and be their robo-butler.

Kalyx triaD 01-14-2013 11:59 AM

Yeah I kinda like him. He was fun. Billy gave him the comedic squash beat, though.

dronepool 01-14-2013 01:22 PM

The Dark Knight Returns Part 2. It was great, but I HATE that Superman is a tool for the government. I like him, so seeing him do stuff like that makes me disappointed.

Kalyx triaD 01-14-2013 01:36 PM

It's called story telling, dude. Never get that attached to a fictional character. How Superman is portrayed in that story makes perfect sense not to mention it set up the Bruce/Clark dynamic that echoes to this day.

Krimzon7 01-14-2013 01:36 PM

ripping this shit right now to watch! Fuck me in the nostrils i'm excited.

Lock Jaw 01-14-2013 01:39 PM

I will wait until I have the time to watch Part 1 & 2 back to back.

Kalyx triaD 01-14-2013 01:41 PM

I saw part 1 already and will eagerly dive into part 2. It's a pretty good adaptation.

McLegend 01-14-2013 01:55 PM

Part 1 is good stuff.

I think Peter Weller is the 2nd best Batman that I've heard. I give him a nod over Bruce Greenwood. Who is also good.

Weller is perfect for The Dark Knight Returns.

Kalyx triaD 01-14-2013 01:58 PM

Something about Weller reciting Frank Miller lines is great justice for me.

McLegend 01-14-2013 02:05 PM

Yeah I agree.

Like I can't picture him being a Batman for any other story. His voice fits the Bruce Wayne is a psychopath from TDKR.

I don't know if he would work on any other Batman related thing.

Considering it was the 80s and Byrne's Superman at the time was kind of a Reaganite yuppie, I wasn't too upset with it. Yeah, it's annoying to see one of my favorite characters written to be an idiot, but A) it serves the purpose of the story, and B) it's an Elseworld story, therefore non-canon, so even though I don't really care for DKR, that doesn't really bother me that much.

Damian Rey 01-22-2013 01:33 PM

Apparently the "Night of Owls" run has been graphic noveled. Really want to pick it up.

Krimzon7 01-22-2013 02:10 PM

Man, has anyone been current on Young Justice? There are so many twists and turns popping off.

It's kinda cool the way they've written off the 'Heavy Hitters' while leaving the big time bad guys here for the kids to deal with. I'm really intrigured with the relationship between Nightwing and Robin. It seems like Kaldur/Artemis is in a world of trouble. It's good to see Deathstroke!!! Theres like five forces at work here: Reach/Black Beetle, The League/Team, The Light/LOD, The Old Heads and Rimbor and Darkseid ( G Gordon is having a helluva impact on the public perception of the League). This is seriously one of the most epic cartoons ever created.

Kalyx triaD 01-22-2013 03:01 PM

The current seems like a re-imagining of the Cadmus arc from DCAU. Just in a more modern media-focused sense. It's really good. And I love the attention given to characters even the DCAU gave little attention to. I hope this universe goes beyond Young Justice. I'd watch a Justice League or Suicide Squad done in this universe.

Lock Jaw 01-22-2013 04:50 PM

I am not a huge fan of the Jamie Reyes Blue Beetle, but they keep pushing him hard in everything. Yet his comic book still got canceled. I do like that they have added the bit about the future and Impulse into the mix. Makes Blue Beetle slightly more interesting.

Blue Beetle seems a tad forced, but it's great to see somebody OTHER than the Bat Family/Supercrew get the Rub from DC. Three Beetles is just one from getting cheesy. I know they've opened the door for a Green Lantern like Corps of independent thinking Beetles, but spare me all that.

Batman-On-Film is pretty reputable when it comes to insider Batman stuff. They were all over the Nolan films, for instance, always grabbing info and pics. That's one of the reasons I'm running with this rumor because it comes from them and they vouch for their source.

What they've heard is that WB isn't rushing a new Batfilm into production before Justice League, which makes a lot of sense since they'd have to be pretty far along prep and have a decent script already locked to beat the Justice League's 2015 release date. The date BOF is hearing for the first new Batman solo film is 2017.

So, the new Batman will be introduced in the Justice League and it's still not for sure they're bringing in Henry Cavill's Superman for the film. If Man of Steel flops and is terrible that could mean DC will be doing a complete reversal of Marvel's strategy and introducing everybody in a giant team movie, then spinning off into solo films.

I have a feeling Zack Snyder's Man of Steel will be good and Cavill will be good in it, so that's not too likely, but it's still a head-scratching move from DC. The template has been proven. Are they just too proud to blatantly copy Marvel or just impatient to get at that Avengers money?

Whatever the thought process is, it's make it or break it time for WB and DC. They're either risking missing the superhero craze or rushing some half-assed stuff into production.

Anyway, the rumor makes sense and could just pure educated guess speculation stuff, but still something to ponder, no?

Shadow 01-23-2013 12:23 AM

Blue Beetle, Green Beetle, Black Beetle...we're one Red Beetle from a Big Bad Beetleborg reunion.

Nowhere Man 01-23-2013 01:33 AM

As much as I'm loving YJ, I'm really getting a little turned off by the overload of Beetles. I was really hoping the big apocalyptic future threat would be something along the lines of Darkseid (though considering that they've got bad guys using Apokoliptian tech, and G. Gordon Godfrey was one of Darkseid's lackeys in the comics, I'm sure he'll show up sooner or later), but they're really intent on selling Blue Beetle on us.

Krimzon7 01-23-2013 06:03 AM

I'll say this about Jaime Reyes...This is the most interested I've been in any of the Blue Beetles ever. I think that they've booked the Black Beetle as such a bad ass that they were literally fucked to find a way for Alpha to get outta there with out one of the Heavy Hitters (Especially since Captian Marvel was in the last episode).

I can tolerate maybe one more Beetle in all honestly. Don't wanna see another one, but one more will make me go all 'okay this is getting cheesy'.

Get the odd feeling that the Reach/Light's partnership is trying to prepare the world for Darkseid by cultivating metahumans. As if conquering him and taking over Apokalips is the endgame. I'm spit balling here, but The Reach and Darkseid could be in some type of turf war.

Damian Rey 01-23-2013 07:07 AM

It seems a little odd that Aquaman was left out. I mean, yeah, he's the one that everyone jokes on and whatnot, but DC has been really big on trying to revitalize the character, what with him playing a big part in the Justice League comic and Geoff Johns making his book one of his pet projects for a while. Seems like having him kick some ass in the movie would go a long way to changing the common opinion of him.

Kalyx triaD 01-25-2013 11:40 AM

Tom Guycott 01-25-2013 11:44 PM

I think if that movie were actually made with all the "interesting tweaks", we would be talking about it in any conversation that the Super Mario Bros. movie is brought up in.

Kalyx triaD 01-26-2013 02:39 AM

Pretty much. I won't romanticize how 'interesting' it would have been. We would have torn it apart. Batman Forever and Batman & Robin probably sounded interesting at the conceptual level, too.

To be fair, we were "pretty much guaranteed" that Superman Returns would have been a good movie also. I actually liked it, but the point is, it was pretty well panned in spite of having a directorial genius, Kevin Spacey, and a guy who studied the nuances of Chrisopher Reeve's acting in the Donner films.
