Dark Souls III currently has 75% off; it is just the DLCs that are not on sale.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-27-2017 05:16 PM

Ahhhh, some unworthy knave thought to invade my world; he/she too felt the sweet kiss of my blade.

Once you come to terms with the fact that you will die a lot, and have to constantly grind, I find the need to continue playing becomes stronger and stronger.

Dark Souls III does not touch Witcher 3, though.

Definitely get the first one on PC. Looks way better, and there are massive framerate issues on console.

Actually restarted the game on PC after getting to blight town on console.

Also, pc version comes with the dlc, which is honestly some of the best DLC ever, for any game. Has one of my favorite boss fights of all time.

Yeah, a lot of people quit dark souls right away because of the difficulty, but if you stick with it just long enough to get a real understanding of the combat and the strategy around it, you'll get hooked.

There is no other series, not even the witcher, where every fight is as tense as it is in dark souls. Though that is something that could be a turn off for some people.

Back into Ghost Recon Wildlands. Something about it is just addicting to me despite its typical repetetive ubisoft nature.

Still at Destiny 2.

Finished Abzu. Bought Submerged on the PSN Store for a couple bucks. Going to fire that up today or tomorrow.

All in all, passing time until Monster Hunter comes out.

Ruien 12-28-2017 04:28 PM

Finished Sonic Mania. Took forever because I only played it every now and then when I work at home. Last 2 stages and last boss were brutal compared to the rest of the game.

Going through all the edits I dlwnloaded in fire pro and tweaking them to fit my own guidelines and parameters, in preparation for the Fire Promoter release.

Jordan 12-29-2017 12:04 AM

I recently bought an Xbox One X and am loving it. I got it used for $250.

I have been playing The Witcher 3 and I enjoy it and I don't. While I love Skyrim, and this game is similar in ways, I feel so unfocused within the massive world. I'm level 11 and bored, don't know anything about alchemy or building armor/weapons. I'm hoping to come back to this game at some point in the future. I got it for $20 on Black Friday, digital.

I just downloaded "This War of Mine: The Little Ones" and I am blown away, totally invested, and even though it's a very serious setting, I have a lot of fun playing it.

Metal Gear Solid V. Wow this is awesome, just downloaded it the other day and I play mission by mission, really good... certain elements remind me of Witcher 3 but elevated. I can tell this is gonna be good, and probably really hard.

Metro 2033 & Lasy Light Redux ... this is really hard but awesome. I got it for like $8.

Games that I've downloaded for free or really cheap but haven't gotten into much...

Path of Exile - Seems really cool but stars very slow, would love a good introduction to this game because it has so many layers. Also the text is really small on my screen and that makes all the leveling up and the like really difficult to comprehend.

The Evil Within - Game is really fucking scary, I don't really even ever want to play it because its so scary, kind of hard too, but mostly just don't want to play this at night. Scary.

Sunset Overdive - Really fun, just kind of lost interest even though I know it's quite a massive game. Seemed to lose focus.

Saints Row Gat Out of Hell - I got this for free on Game Pass, but I don't know if its the best way to start this series.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided - Haven't started yet, came for free with the X-Box.

Doom - Gift, haven't played yet.

Heisenberg 12-29-2017 10:02 AM

It took me 3 tries over the span of 2 years to get into the Witcher 3, come back to W3 when you are ready. It'll be there

Gonna get to Witcher 3 eventually, it's been on my list for a while. Still going with P3 for now.

Spoiler tag for Destor's sake.

SPOILER: show
The real story has indeed started, and it's late game when a popular new transfer student suddenly shows up and immediately is accepted into the friendship group. I swear this dickhead is going to double cross me. Scarf wearing piece of shit.

Probably just going to get Persona 4 on PS2 because I don't want to get a vita just for one game. Dunno though, will have to cross that bridge when I come to it in a few months.

You're supposed to replay them for the GMP to purchase upgrades, fulton more soldiers or I guess go for S-Ranks. The credits every 30 minutes gimmick is because Kojima wanted to replicate binge watching a TV show and it's completely unnecessary and annoying.

Destor 12-29-2017 03:38 PM

I should beat AC: O tonight or tomrrow... should go into P3 next....LoZ:BotW DLC is tempting me a bit to do it first...I dunno.

MGS5 was hot garbage

Ultra Mantis 12-29-2017 03:48 PM

P3 takes a while to get going (social links and story are very slow to start) so if you're hearing the call of the wild I'd definitely do that first, or at least make a start on it and alternate between the two.

Whaaa whatcu talking about? I'm only several missions in and there is no resemblance of any garbage.

Destor 12-29-2017 05:38 PM

If you like vast stretches of nothing, repetitive game-play and cardboard characters then be my guest.

Jordan 12-29-2017 08:23 PM

Well so far it really has my attention. I don't think I've played in this series since MGS2.

I don't enjoy the traveling of vast landscapes however, one of my pet peeves about Witcher 3. However, in that case at least the horse travel actually goes by quite quickly. I can't decide if I want to horse or steal a vehicle most of the time so far. Getting better at the stealth aspect of the game, which is really fun. Not sure yet how I feel about the whole leveling up your army deal, hopefully it makes the game have more layers down the road.

So far I'm very impressed with the story mode, which gets you very involved. Carries on from the first game. Controls wise it's easy to pick up and get into straight away.
Graphics are sharp , characters look how they should look and the voice work is exceptional.

having notplayed mgs 3 or 4 i can understand liking 5

Fignuts 12-29-2017 10:05 PM

There are certain things I like about 5, but it's got some big flaws. The maps being pretty boring for one. Story is interesting at first, but doesn't really go anywhere til the end when they cram a ton of bullshit in, because Konami hated Kojima at the time, and rushed the game.

Destor 12-29-2017 10:11 PM

Tbf 1,3 and 4 are among the best games of all time so the bar was very high.

Emperor Smeat 12-29-2017 10:11 PM

Super Mario Odyssey. Beat the first 3 worlds and just grabbing all the leftover moons and whatever new opened up in those areas.

I'm also playing Metro 2033 Redux ... well I played it all night and got kinda far. Far for me at least I really don't know how big the game is. Holy shit it's really fun, I really love the whole engine for the game it's so damn smooth and fun. I wish more games did the cut scenes with the same engine as the game play, that pleases me.

Ok, the Predator mission in Ghost Recon Wildlands is put together way better than I thought it would be. Lots of respect for the source material. They get the tone right and they have the FUCKING PREDATOR THEME when you engage him. I didn't think they'd go that far.

This really makes me want a Predator video game.

Dunno. Plays well and all, but having the same disinterest in the game world that I had in borderlands 1. Like, it almost seems too barren. I like my post apocalyptic wastelands to have lost of shit everywhere and cool places to explore. So far BL2 has been unimpressive in that regard.

Mad Max gets away with having a whole lot of nothing on the map because the vehicle combat is so god damn fun. But vehicular combat in bl2 is pretty dull.

Probably not going to stick with this. Like 70 games on the backlog, so if one doesn't impress, it gets put on the shelf pretty quick.

Ideally in a party you'll want a Siren specced into Rez. The skill allows Maya to press the action button while a teammate is in fight for your life and instantly revive them. An assassin with B0re and Critical Ascensi0n can deal massive damage. A gunzerker can wreck enemies with the right gear and his action skill.

Also, prioritize farming for Legendary and Seraph rarity weapons and gear over Pearlescent for farming as most of the latter don't live up to their designated rarity. If you can get a pearl Butcher or Bekah, great...the others like the Tunguska and the Unforgiven suck.

Finally, upon reaching UVHM, a great non-mission way to make XP and get amazing gear is farming Mister Tinder Snowflake in the Mercenary Day DLC and raiding the gift box every time thereafter.

This isn't a spoiler or anything but it's probably a good thing that you started with a positive view of Junpei haha.

I've just entered my final month (for real this time, I think) so I'm rushing around trying to max out some more social links before it's all over. Haven't maxed any of my party's links though, they all unlock mid-late and I don't have enough time left. Got to lv6 with Yukari but now she's mad at me for not hanging out with her even though she has been unavailable for three weeks due to exams / holidays and we live together and I talk to her every day. Ah well, Mitsuru is better anyway.

SPOILER: show
Banged three girls, then when two of them wanted to hang out on Christmas I blew them both off to max out my rival (much superior) athlete, who at rank 10 gives up his athletics career and moves 30 miles away to work at a factory. P3 protagonist is a not a good guy.

I'm about to enter Tarturus for the final battle in P3. Penis in a wheelchair leading the charge, as is tradition.

Only missed 6 max social links in the end, not a bad run. I missed out on...

SPOILER: show

Lovers - Finished rank 8, I prioritized Mitsuru over Yukari because she is best girl and as I already said, Yukari got mad at me because I wasn't available for dates. Yukari is cool though. I like her.
Magician - Rank 7. He is a doofus, Wears camouflage with a bright yellow jacket. Who does that? Oh and he's trying to bang a teacher, I already did that in P5 Kenji, keep up.
Priestess - Rank 1. Eh, don't really care for Fuuka. I'm sure her link is fine but it's hard to juggle the girls and she was the lowest priority so I dropped her. Spent half the game mad at me but hey, MC is a cheating douchebag so she got the best deal really.
Fortune - Rank 3. This guy didn't like any of my sarcastic quips so I didn't hang out with him much. Not sure what his deal is but he wasn't too interesting. Something about Art Club but also being a doctor. Okay.
Moon - Rank 5. Fuck this guy.
Aeon - Rank 1. Unlocks very very very late and I wanted to finish three other links rather than just plow this one to 10. That's not even a real Arcana, bro.

Social Links in general are obviously very primitive compared to P5, and probably even P4 I would guess, but there's a few cool ones. Sun, Empress, Hermit and Tower were my favourites. Hierophant's ultimate persona has been my go-to late game. Guess I should go and wrap this up...

Destor 01-02-2018 08:16 PM

I like how integral the social links are to combat but miss the perks aspect. Unless that comes later...

Ultra Mantis 01-02-2018 08:31 PM

The perks were a new feature for P5. I missed them too, they gave much more of an incentive to hang out with certain people.

Here you just unlock the Arcana's ultimate fusion at Rank 10, and more importantly, stop them constantly pestering you to hang out on Sunday. There's no need to rush to 10 though, you won't be high enough level to actually fuse any ultimate until early 50s, and some of them even go into the 80s from what I've seen. Generally though, ones you meet earlier have lower level reqs.

Destor 01-02-2018 08:42 PM

I will admit that the features from 5 are missed. Unless the story is A1 its def the superior game

ClockShot 01-03-2018 09:03 AM

Finished Submerged. Eh, alright game if you wanna pad your trophy count.

Now downloading Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Will start that tomorrow during Snowmageggdon 2018.

I haven't beat the final boss yet, gonna have to grind for some resist items because he has some very cheap auto-game over inducing tricks once he gets low on health. Really long fight too, had him down to a slither then he beserk fucked me :(

So omitting the ending, I'd say P5 is superior in every way. That's not to say P3 is not good, I really enjoyed it, most main characters have a nice arc. Akihiko SANADA's ultimate persona is my actually favourite across both games, so cool. Story takes aaaaaaages to get going though, which is a real shame.

Takes a while but those Seraph crystals (@ lv.

Finished Persona 3

Obvious huge
SPOILER: show
So the ending is weird. There's this whole noble sacrifice deal and you die, then you're not dead and a month later you're still going to school but nobody remembers anything, you get closure on your maxed links, then everyone remembers everything and you do actually die like a month after you died. Odd. I found it a bit cumbersome.

There's an epilogue that is apparently balls hard so maybe that will clear some things up, I'll see how long I last there.

Destor 01-04-2018 04:04 PM

I will be honest...Im struggling to stick with P3...I want to love it :(

Ultra Mantis 01-04-2018 06:25 PM

I get that, nothing really happens until the fourth full moon. Most of the Social Links don't even get going properly until Rank 4-5, also doesn't help.

Also a neat, easy way to kill Master Gee solo @ 72-OP8 is to make sure you have a Sham shield, 10/10 grenades and singularity grenade mod equipped. Clear the area near his arena of enemies, then open his gate but do NOT enter the arena. Instead stand under the gate, throwing grenades to pull him towards the gate. Once he's near the gate, get in front of him, throw a grenade behind him, and as combat starts, the gate should crush him, instantly killing him.

Im finding myself wanting to jump on to P4 as Im not playing P3 much...I wish I hadplayed it before P5. Maybe I just need more time between 5 and 3 as it is too fresh in my mind...

Ultra Mantis 01-10-2018 02:46 PM

Yeah in direct comparison, P3 is just mementos with a plot that only really starts 1/3 of the way in. Navigation is clunky, the thing I missed the most was actually the map telling you where available social links were hanging out.

From what I've read, P4 seems like it isn't as huge of a jump backwards in terms of features, especially if you play Golden. Heard the slow start and grindy dungeons are still in there though.

I didn't want to go in to 3 too fresh, but I found it pretty interesting seeing all the archetype characters pop up. Ryuji = Junpei. Mitsuru is Makoto, but Haru and somehow also Yusuke. Two other characters show up later who were somehow teleported into a major subplot in FFXIII. Mara is there. Mara can actually be transmogrified into Akihiko's ultimate weapon, and I was disappointed that it didn't just turn his boxing gloves into giant dicks.

Slowly but surely I am slogging (and dying regularly) on Dark Souls III; I will complete this game!

I just beat the Crystal Sage, with the help of a phantom.

Wrong. Googled it and P3 released in 2006, GTA: SA was released in 2004.

SO MUCH WHIMSICAL CHARM

I have about 90 games on my Xbox One from Games with Gold that I need to play , then I have Battlefront 2 , Arkham Knight , Final Fantasy XV, Dying Light (Following Edition) , Fallout 4 and more to play on disc.
Also got games off EA Access and Witcher 3 , Payday 2 and Shadow of Mordor that I bought digital copy with Red Dead Redemption 1 to play on 360 disc.
I really need to stop buying games and play the ones I have.

Mankind Divided felt like a huge letdown. Can anyone advise if any of the DLCs are any good?

Started Assassins Creed: Origins, holy crap it looks incredible in 4K. Controls are taking a bit of getting used to but enjoying it so far.

Still got FIFA 18 and Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 on the go as well and added Broken Sword: The Serpants Curse my backlog.

Splaya 01-22-2018 11:59 AM

Still playing Call of Duty World War 2 nightly. I have finally downloaded Fortnite and that has been pretty fun. NHL 16 I am currently in my fourth season as the Red Wings and my top line is Datsyuk, Ovechkin and Rick Nash. 1st in the division. Jimmy Howard in goal though :puke:
