Also the medium sized tits :nono:
I wouldn't even call Ronda's set medium.
She nearly ruined story mode for me.
I want to set the folks whining about how the MK11 female characters aren't dressed provocatively enough on fire.
Yeah, I’m only concerned with how cool the design is, and the last two games have had far better designs than the generic stripper ninja outfits of old.
PROTIP: Stay off gamefaqs
I like the old designs. Except for Sonya, though she's allowed to seem tacky.
The new ones just seem to have more character to them, imo. But to each his own.
Sonya, Cassie, Jacqueline; army chicks. Cassie has a robot friend.
Kitana; perfect. Demure ninja princess. She was already designed like this, the conservative to Mileena's vixen. Mileena was always the most sexualized because she considers herself ugly. Skarlet; disaster. She secreted blood from her skin, but even without that she was simply the 'red one' of the fem ninjas that had a cool spin on the design. Jade; tryhard. Her look was geared more eastern than the rest. Now it's another body suit. In fact that bothers me more than anything. If it were character based reboots than how are *none* of the females retaining their old look? Each of their character arcs led to them dressing conservative? Unlikely. It's clearly a design decision. People complained about 'stripper ninjas' well I'm complaining about combat nuns. |
I disagree completely. I think said bodysuits have more individual personality. There were small details on the old outfits but only so much you could do with so little material.
Kitana in X looked very Regal, as she was a powerful leader by that point in the story. In 11, she is pulled from time before she aquired said power, so her outfit leans a bit more toward assassin, but while still retaining some of the elegance that has defined her design over the years. Mileena's default in MKX is probably my favorite design for the character. I'm not sure about Mileena considering herself ugly. Where has she ever said that? I've always figured the sexualization of Mileena is just the devs sense of irony. Anyway, for me, the MK X outfit just really conveyed the savage nature of Mileena and it also fit her role n the story as a dethroned rebel fighting a guerilla war against the current regime. Her dark empress alt had similar royal vibes to Kitana's default, but with that savage twist, fitting to the character. It was cool to finally see Skarlet in MK9 but she had probably the most boring design on the whole roster. She looked like an NPC. In MK11 she gets more personality and character. She is closer to a sorceress in this one, and her outfits all portray that better than the old one. Jade....I don't know what to tell you man. I think she looks awesome. She looks more like a field agent with some of that edenian elegance mixed in. And if anything I'd say she has more eastern influence in the new outfit. All this is about her human skin btw. I mean what is so eastern about her old outfit? A few chains and gaudy gems on her kneecaps? The other thing to remember is that every character has over 60 skins. Yes a lot of them are color variations on the same skin, but there are more than enough unique looks that you can't judge solely on the defaults. For instance the "army chicks" have a similar theme on their defaults, but thats for story purposes. Besides those skins they have others that are much more unique. And thats not even getting into gear. Some of of them change small details, but some really add to the outfit. I'm not even against the old stripper ninja outfits. I like them. I just like what we have a whole lot more. |
Well herein is the impasse between two camps, and as I constantly discuss with my buds about things like I always wonder about the 'tie breaker' between two grievances. Opinions of which aesthetic is better aside, why do western game devs serve one side of the argument on so many occasions? What is the tie breaker?

Half of these ladies are dressed like Nina Williams' main outfits. And I wouldn't say she isn't sexy.
If it is a design decision, then it's a good one. As for the "but the men are half naked and running around shirtless" complaints I have seen, people are ignorant of what that's about. Shirtless man is a stand in for power. Scantily clad female is a stand in for sex. |
What's wrong with sex; what's right with power?
None of any outfit in the MK series takes away the fact that the game is filled with badasses. Stripper Ninjas are still ninjas. |
I'm fine with the outfits the way they are. I mean yes, I miss my Ninja Stripper jade, but I'm now happy with the outfit I'm running for her, since she is my main.
Plus honestly I feel like they will release classic skins in time, they do that for every MK game for free. I'm sure the Stripper Ninja looks will return. |
Mortal Kombat!

They just released a patch that reduces difficulty and increases rewards for Time Towers even further.
I think it's in a good place right now, but there's still a couple things that could be better. Koin and Heart rewards are good right now, but Soul Fragments need to be a little easier to aquire. There's a ton of those corpses in the krypt and some need thousands of souls. Secondly, the requirement for character towers is frustrating. The first stage has towers that require 50 throws and 50 uppercuts before they can be played. This leads to doing just those moves in fights until you've unlocked them. That's not fun. It's tedious. Would be cooler if it was stuff that helped you learn the character better. Like doing particular kombos with extenders. Stuff that isn't in the move list. |
Fucking christ they just released another update that addresses these issues.
Character tower requirements haven't changed, but the amount of times you have to do them is MUCH lower. And you can get lots more soul fragments from tower rewards. Saw some towers tonight offering 60-75 frragments for getting enough points, which isn't that hard. NRS deserves props for how quickly they've been responding to feedback. |

Ed Boon recently teased new DLC announcements could be arriving next week.

I will have to admit that Mortal Kombat 11 is quite good. I personally feel that Mortal Kombat started to trend downwards after Armageddon, but this game really got it right in my opinion, from both a fighting perspective and storyline perspective. Much respect goes to the creators that have kept the MK franchise fresh after all these years.

Talk about a hot take

That's just gold.
Chainsaw at "two more guests" so yeah, Campbell definitely pulling everyone's leg.
I haven't played against anyone online yet but when I do..it'll be against 10,000 Shang Tsungs.
Odds are yes strictly because DLC characters probably will have more refined/viable fatal blow options w/more high low mix ups (complete with 500+ combos to be sure)
I just wanted to point out that Shang Tsungs second fatality is awesome.
Im gonna play when I get in tonight but Im very excited
his tourny kit looks like ass ftr but I was looking at some of his mix ups and he has a legit hit stun on his down 3
its so egregious it has to be a bug
I cant remember what the frame advantage was but it was nutty
I believe that's meant to be an important poke.
No way that poke literally gives you a free combo. its way too much. Im fine with their being a combo window but jesus.
He's pretty fun to play. Love the Ninja moves, especially Rain's kick

I just got the Shang Tsung ending, because I'm lazy and just got around to it. I love the shout out to the endings of Raiden from MK1 and Shang from MK2.
What are your PSN handles? I suck but I'll try my best! I mostly play Sub and Skarlet..still trying to get the faceless Skarlet mask.
I wish they'd come out with a long hair Raiden skin. I'd lose my shit if they'd add Lambert or that other guy as the voice. The only DLC character I'm not looking forward to is Joker... |
gottdamn. fraidy cats
