New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been analysing his squad after taking over the helm at Stamford Bridge.

THis is what he had to say:

"I think there are too many names since I was linked with Chelsea, even before I signed I heard about 100 players being linked with Chelsea. I understand why but I don't change my mind and my way of things.

"I repeat what I said a few weeks ago - 23, maximum 24. So we have 20 players decided to be in our squad definitely and I would say we have three or four more spaces. These can be spaces for new players or for players who are already Chelsea players. It depends on the situation.

"The way I want to think is something like this - right backs Glen Johnson and Paulo Ferreira. Is closed.

"Left backs Celestine Babayaro and Wayne Bridge, is closed. Outside left - Arjen Robben and Damien Duff. Closed.

"Central defence - open. Midfield players - still open. Strikers - I don't know yet!"

Mateja Kezman is undergoing a medical as he looks to complete his switch from PSV Eindhoven.

"After the Chelsea offer, all the other options went down," he stated.

"The financial terms are fantastic but, on the other hand, Chelsea are not a club that you can turn down.

"I am overwhelmed as I can finally show what I am really worth. I can hardly wait to run out at Stamford Bridge."

Doink 07-05-2004 03:46 PM

erm point of above was there could be some bargains going at chelsea, notice no mention of joe cole from chelsea's new boss.

newcastle are refusing to comment on speculation that kluivert is in talks, now according to malcum mcdonald (ex newcastle man) they are normally the type of club to just say no its not true, so possible a signing there!

also if he does sign that means they will have him, shearer, bellamy, milner, lua lua and amiobe fighting for 2 places (not including youngsters like chopra pushing for a place).

now lua lua wont get back in team for things he said about the club, but amiobe must be pissed as he has just signed a 5 year contract only for newcastle to sign 2 more forwards (if PK signs). he may well put in for a transfer according to malcum mcdonald.

also reizeger is in boro for a medical & is expected to be unvailed tomorrow or wednesday alongside viduka!

Rob Ban Fan 07-05-2004 04:12 PM

Milner can play on the wing though, he did for most of last season. Shearer has one season left. Lua Lua will be coming to us when Newcastle agree to a reasonable fee. Bellamy has a really out of proportion body with a huge head and tiny legs and he beats up women, he's also injured a lot of the time.

Ameobi will get his chance.

Skeletor2 07-05-2004 04:18 PM

Well I'm begging for Freddie Shepherd to take the 1.5m from you guys to get rid of Lua Lua. If he doesn't go to you, he'll rot in the reserves for a year then leave on a free and probably join some 1st division team.

Ferocious 07-05-2004 05:23 PM

Michael Reiziger was at Middlesbrough today, having a medical.

diothoir 07-05-2004 09:13 PM

Leeds signings

Danny Pugh, Clarke Carlisle, Paul Butler, Julian Joachim, Danny Cadamarteri, Matthew Spring, Jermaine Wright, Michael Ricketts.

Leeds are also in talks with Steve Simonsen.
----------

I only know Joachim, Cadamarteri and Ricketts. :$ Although Joachim and Ricketts could be a good pair in the 1st Division/Championship.

Some info about the other guys on the lists would be nice.

jermaine Wright was at ipswich, he is ok and has a decent shot on him, occasionally scores good goals from distance, should do well.

Paul Butler, was he the guy from wolves? if so think he's ex sunderland & is about 30-33 so has experience but i wouldnt say he's the best and he has a tempremant that every time i see him play i think he's going to get sent off.

didnt see enough of Micheal Ricketts to pass judgement, apparently he does well in training and was the best finisher ever, i assume they taked about clearing his plate after lunch when they said this.

Danny Pugh came to you from our reserves, with alan smith going the other way. I think he's a winger.

I'm pretty pleased that the McAteer deal to us has fallen through aswell :$

So Crystal Palace have signed Hungarian international goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly, I doubt any of you have even heard of him before but if you have can you tell me if he is any good. Also our bid for James Scowcroft was rejected thank you Leicester and WWEngland:D

Mr. Monday Morning 07-06-2004 02:05 PM

Paul Butler is the shitest central defender in the world, and I'm glad we're rid of him.

:-\

Someone on the BBC board said he thought £1 million was his worth and was pretty complimentary of him.I just hope that,if he stays, he isn't picked ahead of Canero.Even though Canero would most likely play at right back anyway, he looked better in midfield going forward.

I've heard of that keeper, seems to be a good signing.Only real thing i know about him is that he wore grey jogger type things during matches :o

The Mask 07-06-2004 02:34 PM

wooo, signed some young bastard from parma.

Doink 07-07-2004 09:50 AM

we have signed reizeger, and are set to complete deals for viduka & zenden within next 48hrs. we are also ment to be going head to head against newcastle for kluivert.
Juninho is staying put according to keith lamb there is no truth in the celtic rumours, now that it has come from his mouth i willl say good luck to juninho in his new career at celtic as everything that comes out of keith lambs mouth is a load of monkey shit! (noone had even heard of celtic roumers until he bought them up - what a knob)

i cant believe we are stil waiting to complete the viduka deal, apparently he has a cash wrangle with leeds to settle before we can sign him.

Duberry is set to sign for wolves & matteo has signed for blackburn.

Also does anyone know who came on for gazza in the fa cup final between spurs & forest????

West Brom are after Lua Lua and have given in and paid Newcastle's £2,000,000

More fool them then, he aint worth £2,000,000. Newcastle bought him for £2,250,000 and since then he's spent 3 years in the reserves and has scored about 2 premiership goals.

Lua Lua's game is about pace, thats all he offers, he's a complete headless chicken. If West Brom plan on playing him on his own, they're screwed because he wont get any goals.

I still wish we had got him for a realistic price because his headless chicken style draws defenders away from Yakubu, allowing him loads of space to make Ugo Ehiogausgoeipaipsfsfzzzadsao look dumb and stick 4 past him.

It was supposed to be taking the piss out of the fact that while Boro now have 2 proven goalscorers, they also have 2 players who if things don't go their way, stop playing. Poor temprament, Lack of Pace, but good goalscorers. Boro will do well if they can get some service to them in and around the box, otherwise, signing 2 very simiar strikers probably wont help them a whole hell of a lot.

Wengerland 07-09-2004 04:48 PM

2 pretty lazy players too.

I'm getting really pissed off with Crystal Palace in the transfer market, we agree a £2m deal for Tim Cahill then his agent wants £125,000 for doing fuck all and as we got Simon *I'm an arrogant cunt* Jordan as chairman he won't pay so that deal looks off, we haven't signed Gabor Kiraly he's on trail, Michael Hughes contract talks have broken down and if we lose him people will be able to walk past our midfield, Hughes is an excellent player, also we have signed Mark Hudson maybe Ian Dowie has forgot we are in the Premiership now. So I'm fucked off with it all.

Why should he pay an agent £125,000 though?

Now only if they can sign Zenden they will be set.

he still top scored for chelsea last year and has been a consistant scorer in the premier league for years now.

his pace will only be a problem if we revert to the long ball game. luckily we dont do this anymore we are more about passing and just needed someone with an eye for goal to get on the end of things. hopefully we now have that person.

i will be gutted if juninho leaves, if we sell him it will be a mistake :(

also simon jordan is right not to pay the agent £125k. the agent is employed by the player so im my opinion the player is responcible for paying the agent, not the club he is signing for or leaving.

Wengerland 07-12-2004 08:51 AM

The Dundee keeper, Speroni, has joined Palace, aswell as this player called Emmerson Boyce.I'm assuming he's both are back up, as the latter was released by Luton so he shouldn't be that good.

We've had an offer of £500k accepted for David Connolly

The Mask 07-12-2004 12:44 PM

Ronaldo, Figo and Beckham are stood at the feet of God at the gates of
heaven. God leans down and says to Ronaldo "And what brings you before me", to which Ronaldo replies "You have been my guiding light throughout my footballing career, from the ghettos of Rio to the bright lights of Madrid.
You are my saviour and I worship you and all that you have done for me".
God nods in agreement and Ronaldo dutifully takes his place at Gods side.

The Lord then speaks to Figo "What brings you before me" he says. Figo
replies "My Lord, you gave me the strength and belief to be all that I could
in my footballing life. I have learned from you respect, pride and
gratitude which I have conducted myself with fully throughout my career".
Again God nods in agreement and Figo takes his place by God's side.

The Lord then turns to Beckham and says "I suppose you want your ball back?"

Mr. Monday Morning 07-14-2004 03:26 AM

Actually the PFA seem to think we hold the upper hand, since he came in for talks last Thursday and instead of going to training he flew to Paris. So he's pretty much in breach of contract by no-showing.

I doubt anyone will buy him after all this shit anyway. Who'd want a player like that?

Dazz 07-14-2004 05:19 AM

Fuck me this thread has become filled with jobbers.

Drogba is the man, Saha is a poor mans Drogba, I can't wait till next season.

The Mask 07-14-2004 05:31 AM

Saha is the man, but he seems a little sensitive.

Real Madrid are dickheads, as if you buy Vieira now. He must be approaching 30 at least, and it's all downhill from there. As good as he is, he doesn't have too many seasons left at the top of his game.

Same thing they did with Beckham, I suppose.

toxic rooster 07-14-2004 05:45 AM

That's what I'm thinking.

Last year when all the talk was linking Beckham to Madrid, I was all like "Nah, never happen. David Beckham will never leave Manchester United". Like a week later I was proved wrong.

When I heard that Vieira was being linked with Madrid, my first reaction was "Nah, never happen. Vieira will never leave Arsenal". Now I'm scared.

Probably in like a week's time all the news stories will be out "Vieira signs with Madrid" and I'll be all like "".

Rob 07-14-2004 02:42 PM

I reckon he is gone.

Ogen 07-14-2004 04:19 PM

Barca have received a bid from a British club for Saviola can't see it being United cause it would mean Saha/Smith being 4th choice which they wouldn't accept surely. Arsenal I wouldn't have imagined can afford him, Chelsea don't exactly need him if their getting Drogba and Mourinho doesn't want a huge squad. I'm guessing Liverpool at the moment with Baros leaving. Cisse, Saviola, Owen could be very good.

Cactus Sid 07-14-2004 05:18 PM

If we signed Saviola it would be pretty hot, but my money is on Newcastle

Cactus Sid 07-14-2004 05:25 PM

Actually, the only place I've read it says he's on his way to United

Ogen 07-14-2004 05:34 PM

United doesn't make sense though no way Ferguson is going to relegate one of Smith and Saha to 4th choice

Cactus Sid 07-14-2004 05:40 PM

I could see him relegating Saha to 4th choice

Oxstar 07-14-2004 05:43 PM

It's got to be Chelsea going after Saviola or Crystal Palace:D

Dazz 07-14-2004 10:17 PM

Really doubt it's Chelsea or United, I could see it being Arsenal as Henry and Reyes are their only real threats, Bergkamp is getting on abit.

Oxstar 07-14-2004 10:22 PM

So Arsenal have the cash for Saviola? Wouldn't Saviola cost £15m plus?

Dazz 07-14-2004 10:30 PM

Barcelona are well known for letting players go on the cheap, look at Kluivert for example. I bet they could get him for £10 million.

Also, Luis Fabiano is the man, his goal Vs Paragauy in the Copa America rules, and was from a really tight angle. The Brazil keeper made a fucking great save too just before Paragauys goal. Fabiano has an impressive scoring record for Brazil. With Ronaldo and co not playing he is gunna have to carry them to victory.

Dazz 07-14-2004 11:48 PM

So it was 1-1 at half time between Brazil and Paragauy, Paragauy were 5/1 to win the game so I stuck £2 on them because I knew they would win, by far the better team. If Argentina don't win the tournie I'll be amazed. But Brazil should beat Mexico.

Wengerland 07-15-2004 09:18 AM

Mexico beat Argentina earlier.I'm still going for Brazil to win it, they may have lost yesterday but they were already through anyway.

Sheringham's gone to West Ham and we've signed Pressman (:|) but that's mainly to allow Coyne to go to Burnley.Sunderland have made a late bid for Connolly

In premiership news, Chelsea have more or less signed Tiago from Benfica and will probably get Drogba now Crespo's going to AC Milan on loan.Looking like Kluivert will be off to Newcastle too.

A few weeks ago he nearly signed for Monaco

Rob 07-15-2004 01:26 PM

I don't even think Alan Smith will play up front for some reason. Think Ferguson thinks he can breed him into a midfielder.

The Mask 07-15-2004 01:27 PM

I bet he will. If we have Smith on the wing and Forlan up front anytime this season, someone is going to die.

Chalton have complained about Chelsea because they say that when Carlton Cole rejected a loan move to them Chelsea assured them that Cole wouldn't join anyone on loan and now he has joined Villa on loan.

Smith will definetly not be a striker. There is no way that he will get ahead of Ruud and Saha. I think Fergie wants to make him the next Keane.

Charlton would be a good club for Forlan to go to or Crystal Palace:D But if he stays at Man U he wont get much first team football.

Forlan is better than Palace and Charlton

Yeah he probably is but at least he would get to play every week in the first team, I would rather be in the Charlton or Palace first team than been on the Man u bench.

Yeah, good pass from Gudjohnsen but Kezman took the goal well, he had plenty of shots and really impressed me, it's also good to see how easy Gudjohnsen and Kezman linked up. Yes I realise it was only against Oxford, but the passing between the two of them (mainly from Gudjohnsen to Kezman) was really good to see. Joe Cole also found it easy to pick out Kezman, his off the ball runs were good and if he plays like that all season against better teams, he will soon be the man.

The game finished 1-1 but in all fairness to Chelsea, we didn't have Lampard. Also we played some youngsters who no one (me included) has heard of and it was one of them (Stephen Watt) who messed up for the goal. Geremi proved that he can't even perform well against teams like Oxford :|.

Only a friendly after all, we lost 2-1 at Barnsley but that was missing about 5 or 6 first choice players.

Reyes and Jeffers got hat-tricks for Arsenal and *i think* a debut goal for Robin van Persie, which was meant to be really good, not seen it yet myself.

I'm fairly sure it was Huth who screwed up for the goal, but I could be very wrong

Yeah I thought it was Huth when I saw it, but it wasn't, the guy had longer hair.
