Tobias Beecher and Verne Schillinger's relationship is like a sexually violent Tom and Jerry marathon.
|
I didn't even realize GLOW s3 was out until it popped up on Netflix when I was searching for the new Chappelle. Gonna start that shit this weekend.
|
None but soon to be AEW and AHS
|
Love seeing a bit of love for Oz.
|
Elementary
Suits 13 Reasons GLOW |
I'm about to start watching Pennyworth....looked kindof interesting. I'll report back when I've watched some eps.
|
Started Lilyhammer, seems pretty fun so far.
|
Nearly finished Oz. Must be the third or fourth time I've seen it but man I'll tell you the list of shows that owe their content to Oz is lengthy and eclectic.
|
The second season of Sunderland Til I Die is supposed to be released this fall on Netflix.
My favourite new series that I discovered. Boy was it ever good |
I've just watched the first episode of Carnival Row, and it was pretty decent; I was expecting both Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne to annoy me, but surprisingly they did not. It has Jared Harris in it, which is always a plus.
Also at the beginning of the third season of The Magicians, which remains rather watchable, but mainly due to the hotties. |
Thought the first two eps of carnival row sucked honestly but after that its very good
|
Got on Season 9 of the US version of Shameless. It finally hit Netflix. Now I gotta force myself to goto sleep instead of watching all 14 episodes in a row.
And fuck OZ. I tried to get into that shitty show 4 times and hated it. But then I have found most HBO shows to be way over-rated. |
If it wasn't for OZ, HBO may never have dared put money into shows like The Sopranos and The Wire and if they had there's an argument to be made that they would have been neutered.
OZ might not be the greatest show ever made, but it's one of the most important with regards to the HBO boom and definitely a catalyst for increasing levels of graphic content in other programming. It's as important to hard drama as anything is. |
Six Feet Under is the best of the HBO shows; those that disagree suck cock by choice.
|
It has one of the all time great endings
|
I think people typically fail to contextualize art. If you didnt watch something as it aired, for example, you cant appreciate the landscape to really take in just how ahead of its time something like Oz was.
|
Some of the storylines have to be seen to be believed. The Aryan brother Robson getting Afro-American cadaver gum transfusions and being removed from the brotherhood because of his perceived impurity is particularly mad.

I loved Oz, but I watched it as it aired (on Channel 4 in the UK, not sure how delayed that was compared to original airing). I’ve tried to get into The Wire but dropped off in season 3. I doubt that would’ve happened if I’d watched it as it aired. |

And, speaking of context, similar to OZ with HBO, it was one of the first "exclusive" shows under the Netflix produciton banner for "original series" selections instead of just swiping premade collections that may or may not be currently running on other networks. It isn't perfect, but it was successful enough to encourage the tread into what would become the cultural juggernaut in House of Cards and go all in on that concept in the years to come. Quote:
At a suggestion from a friend, I am going to attempt to watch In The Flesh. We'll see how that goes. I (usually) trust her judgment. |
Binged Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Very good.
|
I'm gonna start watching Undone on Amazon

I hear they are looking to reboot Battlestar Galactica (again) and Saved By The Bell.
WTF on both counts!? I loved Saved By The Bell as a child, but that show is going to mean nothing to the kids of today. |
You could modernize it pretty easily. The premise is timeless...other than single camera anyhow
|
It is just so wrong.
First they butcher Transformers, then Ninja Turtles, and now they cast their eyes to Saved by the Bell; is there no part of my childhood these people won't violate. |
I heard another report that Battlestar Galactica will not be a reboot, but another story told in that universe.
I do hear that they want to reboot The Office, though.... |
Finally finished the last season of The Flash and Arrow.... figured I should catch up before the new seasons are upon us....
I'm pretty hyped for Crisis, but also think it might not be too good. |
Trying Patriot at the moment; too early to tell what I think of it.
|
Patriot is 5 fucking stars. Giveit time to get going. Absolute aces.
Watching After Life. Im enjoying it. |
I started watching Altered Carbon. I'm 2 episodes in. I love the actor in it. But i'm not sure if i'm gonna like this show or not yet.

finally got around to watching Orange Is The New Black.
such a great funny show. I don't know why I waited til now to see it. |
Season 1 is a wonderfully funny fish out of water story. It doesnt stay strong but def worth a watch.
|
Orange is a good show with an absolutely horrible protagonist. Taystee is the main character as I watch it. Red isn't half bad either.
|
I'm only now starting to watch the season before the final season.....
I agree with the horrible protagonist Putting in spoilers for the benefit of those who are just starting and may not have got there yet... SPOILER: show |
The final season is a return to form in a lot of ways and i think its caps piper's journey well
|
She's a classic narcissist so it's hard to get behind her until she's had her wings clipped right down. It's a brilliantly written show in that it throws you through just about every emotion possible so that even the worst characters are somewhat sympathetic. I think that's the one outstanding similarity it shares with OZ besides the setting.
A perfect example of this is the Amish junkie girl. When you go through her back story her image as an irredeemable baddie is undermined so much so that I remember being quite blown away. Don't even get me started on how well played Pennsatucky's back story is, that's the humdinger of the bunch. I have to admit I haven't seen any since SPOILER: show That crushed me. |
Broadchurch, just finished season 2.
|
I've got a confession to make, lads, and I'm not proud of it: I'm currently watching the first season of Ally McBeal.
Does this make me as gay, or gayer, than Guru Dave? |
No Ally McBeal was pretty good. Greg Germann is fucking incredible in it, an actor who can play weird as well as anyone.
Also Portia De Rossi is tremendous, but she always is. |
If youre expecting me to shame you i should inform you that i love showtunws and anime and have no room to criticize anyone
|
Then I will continue to watch it with pure abandon.
|
Ahahahahaha Bear Grylls Treasure Island cracks me up. Stick a bunch of greedy, sickly morons on an island with a few robust young whippersnapper and watch as the old ones guilt the others into giving them money.
Now one of the wretched old hags has drank a ton of salt water and predictably been very sick. So the show is now about watching an old gross hag puke bile into the sand. I can honestly say in that situation I would let her die of exposure. |
The best bit is the guy afterwards like "I told her not to drink the salt water, then she drank loads of the salt water and now she is being sick"
No shit mate |
Watched the pilot of Batwoman.... would say that it was pretty "not good"..... changed way too much, and I don't buy Ruby Rose as Batwoman or a "leading lady".....
Will naturally still watch it |
I've begun season 3 of Goliath; just from the first episode, it seems like things are going to be taken in a more surreal direction. This may be a good or bad thing, depending on how they pull it off. Billy Bob is always the goods, though.
|
Currently watching "The End Of The Fucking World", it's strong and shocking but with a warmth that makes it easy to absorb.
Alex Lawther is a brilliant actor, so in tune with his emotions that he reminds me of Andrew Garfield only more neurotic and damaged... so almost Paul Dano. Jessica Barden I had never even seen before but she is incredibly emotionally tactile too. She's beautiful and plays a character that all young men will fall in love with at some point in their lives. Interesting to see how easily this script got the concept of a cool girl that can be tough and attractive without coming off as cunty. Marvel please take note. |
The shoplifting scene and the scene at the petrol station are two that I would use to sell this show to anyone I thought should watch it.
|
Man I love this.

I'm watching Fortitude on the Amazon Prime. It's fantastic.
|
Watched the first ep of Chernobyl...seems pretty cool.
|
Just started "Catch 22" and it is already a wonderful adaptation. It is hilarious.
|
Starting catch 22 today as it were
|
Major major major major
|
We should try and orchestrate a mass watch of one show so we all can talk about it as it happens.
That would be amazing. |
On episode 4 of Catch 22. I would be done but my gay ass selfish bitch mate had a birthday night out.
Now I'm drunk and can't stop laughing at major major major major. |
I'm so happy to watch a show about war that focuses on the stupidity and greed rather than the awful violence. Of course awful violence is used to bring you back to reality but the comedy of bureaucracy is so brilliantly played that you would struggle not to laugh.
So far it's perfect. A film could never tell the story as fully. |
Almost finished with Season 2 of Fortitude. Been plowing through it. It a great show. Really love it.
|
The Goldbergs. Rushed through about two seasons to get caught up.
|
I enjoy The Goldbergs, but feel like it is probably past its "peak" and already reached the downward point where it "stops trying"
|
The Goldbergs was pretty amazing for two or three seasons. Then the kid hit a growth spurt and went from cute to gangly weirdo overnight.
|
I have to say I'm massively into this Catch 22 adaptation. It's gloriously paced as a miniseries, every great joke from the book is given time to develop on screen.
These are culturally significant gags, you can hear a Catch 22 reference in your daily life and not even realise it. |
Christopher Abbott as Yossarian is great casting. Yossarian should always be played by somebody who's face asks more questions than it answers.
He has played a serial killer before and his deadpan, stone-face killer vibe was intense("Sweet Virginia") so I'm impressed that his ambiguous look is being used in a role outside of that because he will eventually be type cast. I can see it coming a mile off. |
Arfy Aardvark should have been played differently. He's far too sinister and cold in this. Charles Grodin played him like a wild fraternity boy and that was perfect. You are supposed to be horrified because you like him.
|
Catch-22 is a show so good it could have only been written by a jew
|
Nearing the end of season 2 of Ally MacBeal; I continue to enjoy it, and I feel no shame. Portia de Rossi is also fine as fuck.
I've finished the third season of Goliath; I think the first season remains the best. I'm also currently rewatching the first two seasons of Into the Badlands before watching the third season, which I haven't seen yet. The fourth season of The Magicians has appeared on Prime, so I'll have to watch that soon as well. |
Sunderland Til I die season 2 is expected to be released on Netflix Feb 2020. If you're even a casual soccer/football fan I highly recommend checking it out. I binged watched season 1 over 1 weekend.
|
started binge watching Downton Abbey recently.
one of those shows I didn't think I would like. I am almost finished with season/series 2. |

Halfway through Living with Myself. Solid.

I've begun the third (and sadly the final) season of Into the Badlands. It is some good shit; I hope someone picks it up for a fourth season.
|
I will finish the final season of Into the Badlands this evening; I've really enjoyed the third season, which they upped the ante and made a lot darker; it is definitely an improvement on the second season, which I think needlessly brought back Quinn, even though I generally like Marton Csokas as an actor (always plays a good baddie). The inclusion of Nick Frost in the second season has continued to pay off into the final season.
From tomorrow, I will re-watch the first season of Jack Ryan before watching the new one. |
Watching s2 of jack ryan now. Its good. Would def NOT rewatch s1 though. There's no continuation
|
The Good Place
|
Decided to watch The League again. Great show.
|
Watched season 2 of The End Of The Fucking World the other day. The story was totally secondary to the acting this time. Pure performance chemistry.
|
^ This...gonna start season 2 this weekend
|
Also watching Castle Rock s2
|
Started Atypical Season 3. Gonna binge watch it before i binge watch anime tomorrow
|
Man...Castle Rock S1 pretty much just banked off the hype train of IT and guest stars....kinda was a dud in the end. S2 is really fucking good so far. Less Easter eggs, more story.
|
Starting EOTFW S2 now. I have to wrap my brain around what was that show and what was Wayne.
|
Fuck...I should have really rewatched last season
|
EOTFW has two incredibly emotionally tactile leads. That they play characters desperately trying to deadpan their way through life gives so much depth to every water filler eye.
It's a decent show with truly brilliant acting, pretty much a masterclass. |

I don't know why I keep watching Ally McBeal; I'm on to season 4 and for most of the time since the end of season 2, I've wanted to throw Ally feet-first into a wood-chipper whenever she appears on screen.
Actually, I lie, I know exactly why I keep watching: Peter MacNicol, Greg Germann and Jane Krakowski are gold. |
Lisa Edelstein has also appeared, and even though she is playing a tranny, she is fiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
|
Just finished The Kominsky Method S2. Dialogue in the show is very well written. Good show.
Onto End of the F*cking World S2. S1 was great. Hopefully it holds up. |
Well, the story is spread thin but the acting is just beautiful.
I cannot credit Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden enough for their acting. Usually the strength of that sort of chemistry makes it harder on the rest of the cast because you judge them more when there is nothing to critique with perfection. The really strange thing is that the supporting cast are uniformly as brilliant as they need be. Nobody misses their opportunity. TEOTFW is one of the best series of all time already. |
