Marvel Movie General Update:
No pics, links, or vids; just what I know in the realm of Marvel Movies so far along with some commentary on DC's lazy asses. Iron-Man kicked all manner of ass in the weeks since it debuted on the big screen. Talk of Iron-Man 2 is already a-buzz, with a set date already laid out by Marvel Studios (April 30th 2010)! The director of the first is expected to return for the second, with most of the highly well recieved cast also coming back. Early story reports all point to the debut of War Machine, and more tie-ins to the Marvel Movie-verse and the long awaited Avengers project. The Hulk is out now so go see it for a rather contrasting take on the Hulk after Ang Lee's film. Spoiler: The final shot leaves Banner in a rather vague moral standing that will make his involvment in the rest of the Movie-verse rather interesting. Could the Animated Ultimate Avengers story be closer to the live action than imagined, with Hulk being one of the issue the super-team will have to contend with? An exciting premise as the Avengers nears with its 2011 release. Thor will be the wild card in the current Movie-verse of things. While Marvel studios is pushing a one universe deal, its fairly easy to imagine the Hulk in Iron-Man's world. But with all the talk of Thor taking place in Asgard, with a highly visual concept similar to 300, where would he fit in with the movie-verse. That would be an interesting task, but I'm all for Brad Pitt as Thor. His charisma in the face of other big names would make an interesting dynamic once everyone buddies up. Wolverine is still filming, infact a scene where Logan and Creed (Sabretooth) lead soldiers on the D-Day landing(!) was filmed not long ago. It doesn't seem like there's much effort to combine Wolverine with the forming Marvel Movie-verse, as he is essentially coming off the Singer-verse of X-Men movies. It would solve a number of continuity issues if a name drop were to be added here and there, integrating (atleast) Logan into the Movie-verse. His solo film itself promises some big Marvel names that could benefit from a little rub off in 'the big picture'. I'd cream my pants for a shot of Captain America in the background of that D-Day scene, even in a vague shadow. Speaking of Steve Rogers, it seems his movie will precede the Avengers project rather obviously, with the film's title being "Captain America: The First Avenger". Not too hot on the casting choice that's been floating around, but it isn't final so we'll see. His casting is important, as it was once believed for Brandon Routh in JLA, he'd be a main player in the Avengers movie. And on that DC note... what the Hell? Ever since Marvel went studio and took more hold of their characters they've been on the grind. DC only ever works with one studio (WB), so technically they should've been on that level of exposure lone ago (on the animated side they have been however). We got The Dark Knight coming and... what... Watchmen? That's just barely DC, however cool the story is by itself. Where's Super Max? Where's Teen Titans? Get to work! |
Don't forget The Spirit.

I think Wolverine is still a FOX property and not tied-in with the new Marvel Studios venture. |
Ah yes. And the same with Spidey and Sony, I guess. Shame really, Hugh's Logan would have nice dialogue with the likes of Downey/Stark or Norton/Banner. And Tobey's interaction with the reformed New Goblin was fun.
|
The idea of a Captain America hint in the Wolverine movie during D-Day would be the sweetest thing in all movie history. Fucking awesome! Even if it's just a mention or something... "Steve Roger and his men will go in first".... a quote like that or summit would be amazing.
|
Spidey 4 in May 2011:
Spidey is expected to take the ultimate spin again by May 2011. Captain America is also set fot that month and year. The director and cast of the first three movies aren't signed on as of yet. |
Ah man... 2011, that's three years away. :(
|
Plenty of stuff in between.
|
Yeah... but still... :(
|
Dunno if this thread is still alive, but oh well...
I watched Incredible Hulk (amazing film!) and then went on IMDB to read trivia's etc. Someone on the message board commented on a possible hint at Thor in this movie. Highlight black area to read Spoilers (for any Spoiler bitches out there). When Hulk and Betty are by the cliff side and the lightning storm goes off. The scene plays itself as kinda random, and could be a hint towards Thor, especially with Marvel films starting to cross over. This is really just a random little guess, but the scene itself did seem a bit odd, especially considering that the scene before was a hot sunny day. It would be cool if they referenced that in the Thor movie. "I saw some strange green beast" or summit. |
SPOILER: show |
King has spoken.
|
I hear the Thor movie is going to take place entirely in Asgard.
|
You must have read Post #203.
Yeah the movie may be set there most of the time, with static effects similar to 300 or Sin City. |
Faaaaantastic!
|
Quote:
It was probably just chucked in randomly, but if they used it in the Thor movie... |
Quote:
I had that idea in my had untill I went and watched Hulk again today. But then I realized something..... Spoilers of course in Black---- When the scene where Betty and Banner are at the school starts the second the shot opens you can see a thunderstorm in the background. As the scene goes on you see the dark clouds moving in and as the fight between Hulk and Blonsky breaks out you can see the clouds above. Then after the Copter cene it begins to rain which leads to the whole cliff scene and the scene with the General at the ex boyfriends house. I would have liked for it to be a think leading toward Thor but it just looks like it was just a normal storm that made its way over during the scene. End of spoilers |
Black Panther TV Series:
An animated series based on the Black Panther is being developed for... here it comes... BET. Yes that BET. A punchline in the making. |
Wolverine vs Hulk Animated Movie:
http://dvdmedia.ign.com/dvd/image/ar...3112655964.jpg It'll be discuss at CC (they'll have alot to answer for). And peep that throwback mask on Logan. |
Why is that a throwback mask? Looks like his normal mask.
|
|
Let's Go, Bub:
Hugh Jackman appeared at CC today and presented some footage of the Wolverine move, which he says just finished wrapping. The footage will be a hot find on the net, as it has the first looks of alot of the characters - including Gambit. Comic-Con is still going on now. |
Red Sonya Poster:
http://starsmedia.ign.com/stars/imag...5004523112.jpg Red Sonya recently tussled with Spider-Man so the news goes here. Rose McGowen is the only cast member revealed so far. |
Hulk VS Wolverine movie looks cool. I assume this is another animated movie ala Ulitmate Avengers, Iron Man and Dr. Strange? I've enjoyed these and hope they keep making more.
Red Sonja WTF?! Never really been interested in the character, and the old 1980's movie was shit. But I guess it's a comic film so I'll get it anyway. |
Rose Mcgowen in skimpy clothing is all the reason I need.
|
Hulk Vs:
Well look at that; Hulk vs Wolverine is actually one half of a DVD series that puts Hulk against... someone. The other movie puts Hulk against Thor. Marvel is definately on the grind. <embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='object_ID=14268966&downloadURL=http://dvdmovies.ign.com/dvd/video/article/893/893357/HvTTrailer_072308HD_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all%"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360'></embed> |
poor hulk... hes so misunderstood

Iron Man Cartoon Series Coming:
http://tvmedia.ign.com/tv/image/arti...6061939722.jpg Iron Man will get his own cartoon series on TV, but unlike his previous 90's series - this Tony Stark is a teenage superhero. Took the words right out of my mouth. But get this; those who viewed the first two episodes say its appearently kinda badass, thanks to well directed action scenes and strong sense of drama (well stronger than the usual kids programming I hope). Rhody will be there, as well as Pepper. And the Mandarin too, looking like a samurai/knight/evil kind of thing. |
Wolverine: Orgigins trailer from Comic-Con (leaked cam footage, if you can't read the url):

Looks kinda lame
|
You're crazy; that shit looks hot. Gambit FTW.
|
Hulk VS Thor looks kinda cool. As I said above the animated movies are fun, so this should be good.
Iron Man cartoon... a teenager? I'm a bit unsure, but I suppose I'll wait to see it until I pass judgement. |
Quote:
|
It's not looking too shabby at all. Going to be a long, long wait until May. :(
And personally I'd much rather take a good actor playing Sabretooth rather than the way he was portrayed in the first X-Men film. :y: |
kalyx ur slackin
|
I'm not even reggin, dude. I'll be back, with more news people are too lazy to look up themselves. In the meantime, The Iron-Man DVD sounds like its gonna be loaded.
|
So I was looking on Play.com at the Hulk and Iron Man DVDs. Is the Steel Book version got the normal DVD inside it? Coz I'd like to put it on my DVD shelf without a great big massive steel book around it.
|
I don't know.
|
Dammit Reavant was right you are slackin'.
|
Yeah thats right, make a movie where the story and origin of Iron Man is established, understood and most importantly liked, then make a cartoon series that completely contradicts it all. Fuckin morons.
|
It's for kids. Fuckin moron
|
I just watched the Wolvering Origins Trailer from Comic con -----looks bad....and I mean bad as in bad, not good.
|
i saw it and it looked good
|
It looked good if you think Daredevil, Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four were good.
I think it sucked. Just looked subpar. The problem is, is that after Iron Man and The Dark Knight, theres a new standard for comic book films. Now, I don't think it neccesarrily should have to live up to those, but it should live up to the first two Xmen. Chances are with Ryan Reynolds it will be on par with Blade Trinity |

FUCK I SHOULDN'T HAVE WOKE UP THIS EARLY ON SATURDAY MORNING NOW THE AMAZINGNESS THAT WAS IRONMAN IS GONE AND ALL THAT IS LEFT IS A METALBOX WHERE MY HEART USED TO BE.
|
I will take that metal box if you don't mind.
|
You'll have to ask Kano I was quoting him.

It means you shouldn't take it so seriously. They're reworking things for kids so kids like it.
Batman The Animated Series came out because of Batman, but it had nothing to do with it. |
Yeah I get that man, I guess...... I just don't like it lol. Always changing shit.
|
War Machine confirmed for Iron Man 2. The director has also expressed interest in IMAX tech after the The Dark Knight's IMAX scenes impressed him and Jim Cameron. He riffed about a 3D HUD for Iron Man!
|
No Spidey Reboot, Film Canon Continues:
Sam Raimi and series star Tobey Maguire have signed on for Spider-Man 4 and 5, and with a slip to the press, Kirsten Dunst seems to be down as well. Hmmm... she also let slip the villains of Spidey 3 after all the work Sony went through to hide it. Not too bright is she? |
Mother fucker. I was looking forward to seeing what some fresh blood could do with Spidey from top to bottom. Son of a fuck. Dunno if I'll be seeing these next two then...
|
The only person who didn't need to be re-casted in the worse way was J.J. Cause he's been great...ah well. Maybe we''ll get to see Bruce Campbell play Mysterio at least...
|
Mysterio FTW. He'll bring some visual flash on screen and Bruce can bring him to life.
Next 3 Years Will Be Marvelous: Marvel and Paramount are BFF now, and the following collaborations are official: Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010), Thor (July 16, 2010), The First Avenger: Captain America (May 6, 2011), and The Avengers (July 15, 2011). That's alot of comic-book action. |
I have no problems with the spidey news. Loved the first 2. The third had it's flaws, but was still really enjoyable. Although that wasn't really raimi's fault. Was the fault of the people who pushed to get venom in, when there was already 2 villains.
|
Would be really wanna see a reboot this soon anyways? Would that involve having the Goblin back as the villain? Seems a bit early to be retreading old ground...
|
I dunno about starting fresh but a total recasting would be nice. YOu could keep with the continuity if you'd like.
|
Can't see Captain America being any good, I mean wasn't he just invented to lift the spirits of the USA during wartime or something?
The whole concept of such a 'superhero' having their own feature film sounds proper...oh...I dunno...boring. |
There's narrative gold in the story of a guy who was frozen for a while. He was created as a symbol of an America past, an America the world loved and revered. Now imagine him waking up from a cold sleep to find his country disgraced, the land he loves turned to a global antagonist. Just yesterday he was overseas kicking Nazi's asses, he led the way on D-Day! Now in the year 2008... how do you even break 9/11 to him? The Iraq War? The fall of ideas the world over let alone America?
Cap's story, done right and not afraid to hit those topics, could be as compelling as the Dark Knight - albeit in a different fashion. There's alot of potential messages to be found. |
Better than Captian Britian or whatever his name was. Totally powerless if he leaves his home land? Worst hero ever.
|
Well at least audiences can relate to the leaving Britan part.
|
The Man Without Fear:
Daredevil as been announced as releasing the reboot treatment as well. Fox says- *Sigh* Alright... I personally feel that any reboot within the span of a decade is too soon. Change directions and styles for a sequel, but abandoning entire franchises just seems rude to me. For instance; The Empire Strikes Back is so much better than Star Wars I consider it a reboot - within the franchise context. But whatever, that's just my take on the whole 'scrap it, try again' fad that Incredible Hulk kicked off (some of you may remember I disagreed with tossing out Ang's Hulk-verse entirely). Anyway, Fox says The Dark Knight inspired them to create a DD film with true vision. I guess that's noble enough for one of Marvel's most tortured heroes (who's very comparable to Batman as well). |
True vision for a blind character
|
Zing!
|
I really liked the Daredevil movie (in fact, I'm wearing my Daredevil movie t-shirt as I type this lol), and a reboot would be crap since the film only came out five years ago. They should just keep it as a sequel but with new actors.
Plus for Kalyx Triads post reference future Marvel films, it looks great, the problem is having to wait so fucking long!!!!!!! |
How successful is the latest Hulk film considered?
|

I just heard today there is a rumour going around that the Xmen Origins movie is to set up a Deadpool stand alone movie. |

Terrence Howard out as Jim Rhodes for Iron Man 2.
Don Cheadle gets the spot |
gay
|
Seriously, Howard and Downey had awesome chemistry.
|
Wow really? Flat out can't picture Cheadle as War Machine.
|
Dude's got range, Blitzkrieg. If anyone can replace Howard, it's him.
Still, would have preferred Howard to stay on. |
Cheadle is pretty great. Hate see re-casting but he's a great actor.

Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige recently spoke of Marvel U's success in film as well as its future.

Strange Quote Indeed...:

I'm Marking Out Right Now:
Robert Downey Jr. has officially signed on for Iron Man 2 and Avengers. Don Cheadle has also signed on for Iron Man 2... and Avengers! Jon Favreau, who directed Iron Man, is attached to Avengers as Exec Prod as well. Ed Norton, despite rumors that he was jipped after Hulk, will return as Bruce Banner. Many credible names have alluded to Hulk appearing in Avengers, though Ed Norton hasn't been spoken about in regard to the project curiously. They're beginning to Assemble indeed... |
Captain's Got Direction!:
Joe Johnston has signed on to direct First Avenger: Captain America. He's currently putting the finishing touches on the Wolfman remake. "First Avenger" has the important task of leading into the Avengers movie. No pressure, Joe. |
Johnston is your typical on again, off again type of director. Let's see what he brings to this one.
And where's my Dr. Strange remake?! |
Not so sure how I feel about Joe "Jurassic Park 3" Johnston directing
|
But he also directed Jumanji!
|
JP3 was okay...
|
lol
|
Thor Animated:
Thor gets an animated series to follow his live action film. A full season is in the works, and that's along with other Marvels cartoons coming around like Iron Man, Avengers, Black Panther to join the recent Wolverine and the X-Men. Busy beavers they are. |
The little girl from Adventures in Babysitting must be pumped about all this

That guy's overworked, but I dig the continuity. Could he be the Kevin Conroy of Wolverine? Anyway the movie looks decent, but I'd like to see how much they could stretch an encounter of two characters. |
First shot of Gambit from the Wolverine flick.
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/9489/gambitrh4.png I'm.....unimpressed. |
Quote:
Well, the fight itself could last days... maybe weeks. Considering that Hulk's anger makes him stronger and he heals with his rage, and Wolverine has the healing factor. |
Which would give the guy boarding the fight a heart attack.
|
Quote:
|
What I don't get is that they said they wouldn't put Gambit in the X-Men films cos he was "too similar" to Wolverine then they put him in the stand alone Wolverine film!?
|
How is Gambit similar to Wolverine at all?
