Vince's toughest enemy Ted Turner is going back into the wrestling industry although with a catch.

Turner Broadcasting recently announced they will be showing episodes of Lucha Underground on TNT but only in Germany.

Mr. Nerfect 10-26-2016 08:33 PM

I've always hoped Ted Turner would get into the wrestling game again. It's just a markish dream I've always had. He finally gets wind that Vince McMahon considered him the enemy during the Monday Night War and he goes "Oh, okay, I'll show you a war -- TBS could use some new broadcasting."

Mr. Nerfect 10-26-2016 08:54 PM

If you have to do something with Shaquille O'Neal at WrestleMania next year, how do you go about it? I'll also set the caveat that it must include Big Show.

The Royal Rumble seems like a good place to start something, given that Shaq's Wikipedia page tells me he went to high school in San Antonio. He'd be a fine participant in the Royal Rumble itself. I'd maybe have someone dump out him and Big Show at the same time.

I don't want to see Big Show vs. Shaq at Mania. There's just too much that can go wrong. A tag team match allows you to slip in some workers who can bump around for Shaq and Show and make the whole thing a lot more enjoyable -- which is what it's there to be.

How about Sheamus & Cesaro? I can't see them staying together as a team that long, but the WWE can also be quite stubborn. If Cesaro is also a heel by this point, they can always just put them together as random heel team like they did with Sheamus and Rusev a few times even after the League of Nations disbanded.

Cesaro is pretty much a ring genius. Sheamus is solid at moving around. Neither Sheamus nor Cesaro is "small," but they will be appropriately dwarfed by Shaq and Show. Cesaro can get a nice spot where he body slams Big Show. Shaq can pin one of the guys with a Chokeslam to get some nice celebrity shine. Sheamus taking the fall is probably going to get less revolt than Cesaro taking it.

This is also probably as high-profile a program as either Sheamus or Cesaro is going to be able to get. Cesaro, especially, seems almost out of his depth in terms of being trusted here, but his ring work is what is really valuable in the scenario. Sheamus is as cold as ice, but he'd be functional here and do his part well.

I could actually see this being for the RAW Tag Team Titles, and I could honestly see them giving Big Show and Shaq a reign with the belts. The WWE is pretty hungry for media attention, and putting a title on Shaq, especially a Tag Team Title, isn't exactly going to be a death-knell for those belts. Show & Shaq can have a miscommunication in a Tag Title match at another PPV, The Revival can win the belts or something and Big Show can turn on Shaq leading to a SummerSlam match between the two or something. That's if Shaq is willing to work a few dates for the company over the course of 2017.

Shaq is a year older than DDP was when he won his first WCW World Title. I'm not saying that he could be a workhorse World Champion for the company or anything, but he's the same age as R-Truth and Big Show.

Can already scratch off one name for Smackdown's non-tag and non-Women's Survivor Series team.

Orton is taking some time off next month and currently is set to miss Survivor Series as a result. Its only for 2 weeks but could end up needing another break because he's also in the process of moving into a new home.

The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer is reporting that Randy Orton will be taking some time off in November, including the PPV. Meltzer reports that Orton's wife is expected to give birth to a baby girl on Nov 22nd, and that The Viper has been granted the week off beforehand. He is not scheduled to return until Nov 29th's SmackDown Live.

This year's Survivor Series features three traditional Raw vs. SmackDown elimination matches. Not only will SmackDown be shorthanded on that front, but it looks like Orton's ongoing storyline with Bray Wyatt will also need to wait. As it stands, Orton will miss two full weeks of television.

Cool King 10-27-2016 06:40 PM

Interesting.

I can only expect something to happen at the SmackDown I'll be at in Glasgow and that it will be used to explain why he'll be gone for the next two weeks after it, missing Survivor Series in the process.

Cool King 10-27-2016 06:43 PM

But it'll probably not be anything spectacular.

He'll probably be chokeslammed through a table by a vengeful Kane or something like that.

Emperor Smeat 10-27-2016 08:15 PM

Seems like the peak the WWE is going to get with the Network is in the 1.5 million range and that includes free members. Based on WWE's recent fiscal report, Network subscriber base went down by around 60k compared to Mania week (1.517 million).

1.4 million to 1.5 million keeps them in the break even range but well below the 2+ million they were expecting by now for early estimates.

Droford 10-27-2016 09:35 PM

One thing I wonder is how long it'll stay $9.99 a month.

Assuming since the rumors of different tiers has popped up a couple times the answer is not long

On track for their best year ever.

Emperor Smeat 10-28-2016 07:37 PM

:| WWE were the ones who said that is the number needed for them to be in the break even area considering the millions spent for the Network's launch ($50 million range). That goes on top of the monthly costs which includes paying MLB for the Network's tech.

Has to be a consistent 1.4-1.5 million paid and not just because they hit it once means they never need to hit it again to break even.

2 million gives them a nice profit while the plan for 3-4 million would help cover other areas of the company losing money or not performing well. Once again those have to be consistent in order for the WWE to get real benefits.

Mr. Nerfect 10-28-2016 08:47 PM

Poit 10-29-2016 02:01 AM

That was a pretty good show. Although, you know "that guy" at every wrestling event who constantly chants stupid shit? There was a group of them right behind me. Alas.

If anyone is interested in match results, here they are. Putting them in spoiler tags since it has the results of some teams advancing in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

SPOILER: show

Oney Lorkin beat Patrick Clark in a surprisingly good opening match. The crowd was pretty into both guys, but Clark got a significantly more positive reaction here than at Full Sail.

TM61 was scheduled to face Aries & Strong in a round 2 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic match, but Aries's eye injury meant he couldn't wrestle. So, Shane Thorne beat Roderick Strong in a singles match to allow TM61 to advance. The crowd really did not like TM61.

Then Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake had yet another match. If the crowd disliked TM61, they hated these two. "Leave". "Delete". "You both suck". "Fight for-never". But, Blake still got a pop from shooting streamers from his hands before a frog splash for the win.

Asuka defends her NXT Women's Championship against someone named Daria. I don't recall seeing her on NXT before. She's seems to be some sort of boxer. Pretty sweet match. Lots of strikes and submissions. Daria got a pretty nice pop with a cross arm breaker - we were expecting the boxer to not have much in the way of submissions. Asuka wins, of course. They hug and walk up the ramp together after the match

Rich Swann & No Way Jose face the Authors of Pain in another round 2 match. Authors get lots of boos and D'Lo Brown chants, but they advance in the tournament nonetheless. The crowd loved Rich Swann. With the exception of the annoying guys behind me, the crowd loved No Way Jose. And I don't care enough about the Authors of Pain to write anything more about them.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are now the Best Friends of NXT, or something like that. Billie Kay faces Ember Moon, and this is another match that was better than I expected. Billie Kay is definitely improving as a wrestler. Ember Moon wins with that second rope cartwheel stunner thing. I'm just going to assume it's called the Crescent Moon, because seriously, why wouldn't it be called that?

Main event time. Bobby Roode and Samoa Joe vs. Tye Dillinger and Shinsuke Nakamura. The crowd just loves all four of these guys. Singing Roode's and Nakamura's theme songs, the constant "10" chants, etc. And if this match is any indication, the Roode/Dillinger feud is going to be pretty entertaining. Those two work so well together. The match ends with a Kinshasa to Roode, of course. Overall an excellent close to the evening.

Then I had to leave as soon as the bell rang. I had to run to the train station in the rain to catch the last train of the night.

Dark One 10-29-2016 02:08 AM

Distinct lack of Asuka marriage proposal for Dark One in those results...

Daria was on Tough Enough and has a legit MMA background.

Poit 10-29-2016 02:19 AM

I was pretty impressed by Daria. I'd prefer her hair to be something other than cornrows, but that's just an aesthetic thing. Her wrestling was pretty great.

But seriously, when someone comes to the ring throwing punches, looking like a boxer, you just have to pop when she pulls out a Cross Arm Breaker - especially as a counter to a submission from Asuka.

Suppose you'll want to miss out lyric based ones for background music, so Nakamura fo sho.

Or Broken Matt Hardy.

#1-norm-fan 10-29-2016 10:16 AM

Actually, it will be heavily featured music. As in it will play over words, pics, bright lights and muted videos and stuff. Needs "energy". Sasha Banks was the first one I could think of. Feel like people like that one a lot. I'll be making a new one monthly so I might wanna keep changing the music though.

2 million gives them a nice profit while the plan for 3-4 million would help cover other areas of the company losing money or not performing well. Once again those have to be consistent in order for the WWE to get real benefits.

Again, I don't think you know how to read a balance sheet. Best year ever. Ever.

Remember when trolls on this forum were actually good at what they did and didn't just rely purely on shock value and/or parroting the same crap over and over again? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Blame Iop. Also blame everybody here for championing trolls like that to the point where they became character babyfaces.

Went to an Indy show and won Money in the bank.

https://scontent.fhsv1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...33&oe=58A616D1

To be more specific, they held a raffle for a Money in the Bank briefcase. I won the raffle, and got to make a fool out of myself climbing into the ring. Don't care, I still won Money in the Bank.

Best of all, during the Main Event, the Champion tossed the Challenger in the front row next to me. He gets into the crowd right in front of me. I hand him the briefcase and he uses it. :D

When will you cash it in?

I don't know. But it did contain Candy and a Contract for a Title match for the promotion (I'm not making the latter up.)

Demand mic time to explain you hired someone to represent you in your match.

According to reports, management and Creative finally convinced Vince for Sasha-Charlotte to be the real main event for tonight Hell in a Cell ppv. Supposedly Creative and management have finally gotten tired of Vince's antics when it comes to trying to plan out ppv cards and feuds based on a previous report about this ppv.

US title teased to be opening the show and Universal teased to be in the middle of the card.

Lock Jaw 10-30-2016 04:10 PM

Plenty of hours left for Vince to change his mind

Cool King 10-30-2016 04:23 PM

I'm hoping he does and he probably will.

Lock Jaw 10-30-2016 04:36 PM

I'd be fine with it. It has about equal hype to Owens/Rollins but has extra of being "history making" or whatever.

Emperor Smeat 10-30-2016 04:39 PM

Can probably pinpoint the exact moment Vince started to meddle too much in Cell plans right around the time Foley made a post on Facebook backtracking on everything he said about Sasha-Charlotte being worthy of the real main event spot.

Tried to make excuses about the ppv being worthy of multiple main events and even if Sasha-Charlotte wasn't last, fans could still claim it as the main event for the ppv if they wanted.

Probably the same reason why the feud itself seemed to feel like it was losing steam going into the big announcement of the match taking place in the Cell.

XL 10-30-2016 04:54 PM

Hmmmm. They shouldn't have put Rollins/Owens in the cage. They could have done a Triple Threat with Jericho. That would have made the First-ever Women's Cell match a shoo-in for the Main Event without "demoting" the Universal Championship to second fiddle.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-30-2016 04:55 PM

They have to demote. It's the same match from the last ppv with no reason Rollins gets another shot. He was challenger and got pinned.

#1-norm-fan 10-30-2016 05:14 PM

Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt main evented the last PPV.

They really don't care about ending shows with something climactic anymore.

Hopefully Sasha hits the Bank statement off the top of the cell through the announcers table tonight

This. It's not like any particular match has sold the show. Hell, it hasn't even been sold. It's part of the package month you get for signing up to the WWE Network for free. The buzz words are the cell itself, the "danger" that was established within the Cell in the first three matches, and then the idea of a "Triple Main Event."

Good for the ladies if it means something to them, but given that there are now more PPVs than ever, they're cheaper, there being more of them actually being good since they are part of a content package, and that they clearly don't care about card structure anymore, and it all becomes trivial.

The day the women are promoted as the main attraction of a show that people actually need to pay for is the day that they technically headline.
