You also have to factor in AEW sucking. That doesn’t help. But it was also totally AEW’s choice to drop its Spanish language partners.

I post this partially because I agree with this guy’s sentiment though I’m not sure who he’s referring to.

But I’m mostly posting it because the guy who tweeted it looks like the love child of Jim Cornette and owenbrown and it’s freaking me out.

Meltzer is reporting that there are legal issues holding up The Elite returning to television. He’s, uh, not doing his buddies any favors there, is he? If there were legal issues, they’d probably be confidential to parties involved, so The Bucks and/or Omega blabbing about this is exactly the point. Unless Meltzer is just flat-out lying, which still makes his buds look bad.

But it’s reasonable to deduce that Punk has got them all by the balls. I’m so curious as to see how this all plays out. Whatever you want to say about Punk, he’s always used the plight of other talent to justify his actions (whether genuine or a smokescreen). A lot of marks on the internet are framing this as Punk being selfish, but I can definitely see him framing it as a cause. Get rid of the toxic management and persuade Tony Khan to better utilize talent using the leverage he’s got. Either that or “let my people go.”

Sepholio 10-07-2022 07:55 PM

I think the whole legal issues remarks he made are probably more inspired by TK doing an interview a couple days ago and when he was asked about The Elite/Punk in multiple different ways he kept saying something to the effect of "I am not allowed to speak about that matter at this time." The way he kept saying he wasn't allowed is pretty indicative that there is a legal issue at play here currently.

Sepholio 10-07-2022 07:57 PM

Although in fairness I'm not exactly sure how a legal issue could directly keep them off TV. More likely that the legal issues have led to WBD probably telling him not to put any of them on air or talk about the situation until everything is settled to avoid any potential headaches.

Sepholio 10-07-2022 07:59 PM

Basically, it isn't the legal issue itself keeping them off TV, it's the optics of the whole thing keeping them away.

xrodmuc316 10-07-2022 08:51 PM

I hate Tony Khan

Has said SOOOOOO many times how "HE", not his daddy, but "HE HIMSELF" has more money. Then all he donated to Sara Lee is $10,000.

What a lying dick, pretends he is a $10 billionaire, then gives exactly twice as much as Kevin Owens, the top donor.

Well, we’re getting into semantics. I mean, if Punk is holding The Bucks and Omega invading his space and putting a civilian at risk as ammunition to get what AEW needs out of the situation, putting The Elite on television could break the dam wall there. I would have thought that using Adam Page would be the same thing though.

I’m glad Wesley Blake and the kids are getting the money. He’d earn more if he was paid by AEW to sit in catering though.

Mr. Nerfect 10-07-2022 09:09 PM

If he signed a 3 year deal he wouldn’t be able to not get paid even if he wanted to.

I know man, but what kind of egomanic goes and gives exactly twice as much as the top donor deliberately. Plus if he is going to brag about having WAY MORE money, then give WAY MORE.

Maybe hire Blake for one of those office jobs that provides insurance to her 3 kids.

I don't know man, I hate famous people that do token shit just to make themselves look good. He also had the option to donate anonymous, but that would defeat the purpose of doubling up the top donor for clout.

Eh, rich fuckers hug their money and do do things for clout. I don’t think TK is in a unique bracket with that. But nor have I ever bought into the fake “nice guy” bullshit around him either. I’d like to think if I had $10k to throw around every day I’d donate to charities anonymously, but I say that without the money to let my money be PR for the stupid too.

Its gonna be funny when Tony is stuck paying these guys like AOL Time Warner for years even after the wrestling company has closed.

Mr. Nerfect 10-07-2022 09:22 PM

With Moxley signing his deal, I can see WWE bringing back Renee Young into the fold imminently.

Mr. Nerfect 10-07-2022 09:23 PM

I wonder if we’re going to get a WCW situation with talent sitting out collecting or if Shad Khan just pays the contracts out.

Saw people speculating on why Moxley would sign a 5 year with AEW. I'll tell you why: He saw what happened to WCW and he wants to keep drawing a fat paycheck when his job shuts down, too.

I came in to talk about this. Career wise, I'm sure Mox made a very smart financial decision to sign for 5 years. He probably will be set for life more or less. But creatively I can't see how we make Mox AEW's Roman Reigns at this point when we can't really see past the end of the year for potential title challengers. Confusing decision but I support it because Mox is my favorite wrester IRL.

Wasn’t the situation with WCW that the guys were signed to Time Warner not WCW? It’s that the situation with AEW?

I thought that only happened towards the end. Not everybody had those contracts either, just the top level guys. I think it was only Hogan, Sting, Goldberg, Hall, and Nash beforehand. I think everybody else that had a WCW contract was converted after WCW closed only if WWE didn't want their contract and they didn't take a buy out.

Even so, I can't envision Moxley signing a new contract without clauses that guarantee he will still get paid by the Khans even if AEW closed.

XL 10-10-2022 03:36 PM

Could see him signing just to carry on with garbage wrestling.
