JEXI - 7/10

Kind of dumb, Kind of funny

There is an element that could be mistaken for a lazy "right he needs to see these people so let's find a way to fit it in" about it but I thought it was written as smartly as it had to be to give anything back at all.

The ending was probably the weakest part even though it was traditionally good.

El Camino - 7.5/10

A nice Coda to the story of Breaking Bad and a good reminder why it's one of the best tv series of all-time.

Anna - 3/5

Sasha Luss is pretty. But, I don't think she got much of an acting career if she keeps taking roles in Luc Besson's films.

From Dusk Till Dawn - 8.5/10

From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money - 4/10

From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter - 6.5/10

Destor 10-13-2019 08:10 PM

If you go into from dusk till dawn knowing literally nothing the 2nd act reveal is something else

Lock Jaw 10-13-2019 09:07 PM

I knew literally nothing. Was just like "huh. Well this took a turn".

Seanny One Ball 10-13-2019 10:49 PM

Quentin Tarantino is surprisingly good in his role. It's my favourite Robert Rodriguez film.

Seanny One Ball 10-13-2019 10:50 PM

Well, unless you count Sin City

ClockShot 10-15-2019 06:49 PM

Joker - 4.5/5

El Camino - 6/10

I'm watching the Meryl Streep Panama Papers film. Gary Oldman is single handedly trying to ruin it. I think he was an awful choice.
Meryl is fantastic as always. She will forever be the greatest actor and it is easy to watch an artist so talented.

Seanny One Ball 10-18-2019 09:43 PM

Absolutely incredible scene on the nature of familial negotiations.

Seanny One Ball 10-18-2019 09:44 PM

Linklater would look at that scene and lose his shit with envy.

Seanny One Ball 10-18-2019 10:25 PM

I wish I hadn't seen that through. That was awful

Meryl you are too good to be in it.

Seanny One Ball 10-19-2019 08:32 PM

Wounds was freaking weird. Dakota Johnson is unwatchable.

Destor 10-20-2019 12:15 PM

El Camino - 7/10

Tension is great. Acting is good. The film doesnt have a point though and the protagonist doesnt have an arc. Its and entertaining watch but ultimately its fan service without any semblance of meaning.

If youre a fan of the show and want to hangout in that world again give it a watch. You wont be missing much to skip it and wont be gaining much to have seen it but there are worse ways to spend an afternoon

Blue Demon 10-20-2019 08:16 PM

Gemini Man - 7/10. Wasn't bad, but something about it just didn't quite connect with me. I think some of the acting was a bit on the weak side, but a somewhat solid action flick none ther less.

slik 10-26-2019 03:15 AM

Girl On The Third Floor - 6/10

1st half of the movie is sort of bad but 2nd half gets pretty gory/twisted. CM Punk isn't cringeworthy but he is also sort of really cringeworthy.

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2019 11:38 AM

The new Eddie Murphy Dolemite film on Netflix is both a great bio and helluva good laugh. Murphy is great but special props to Wesley Snipes for coming in and livening the film up by setting an incredibly high standard of comedy.

Wesley Snipes should make more funny films.

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2019 11:42 AM

Clearly I need to watch the real Dolemite

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2019 12:09 PM

You know when movies take old footage and repurpose it like Kung Pow: Enter The Fist?

Has anyone ever had new footage be shot and dubbed over with classic audio?

That could be great.

Seanny One Ball 10-26-2019 12:26 PM

The ending to Netflix' Dolemite is pure Hollywood magic. Absolutely marvellous, I really loved it as a whole.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 05:10 PM

Watching "Videoman" tonight, a Swedish film about a downtrodden VHS collector.
I'm basically looking into the future.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 05:12 PM

"My basement is a time machine"

"Vinyl sales are on the rise"

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 05:31 PM

Someone stole one of his tapes. I'm fucking furious.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 05:51 PM

There's a lot going on in this film. It's downbeat but funny, uncomfortable but endearing and somehow it has a deeply rooted horror vibe despite the overall optimism.

It's confused, like the characters it venerates.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 05:53 PM

I also have Holy Motors and Seven Samurai to get through but I'm not sure my psyche can handle another leap into the unknown tonight.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 06:04 PM

This is something else. I think if it's possible to fall in love with a film, I just did.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 06:08 PM

Top marks for the best post coital argument ever.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 06:10 PM

Top marks for the best awkward lunch ever.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 06:12 PM

Starting to get a little bit terrifying now.

Seanny One Ball 10-27-2019 06:19 PM

Ahahahahaha fucking hell.

Genius.

Fucking genius.

4/4

This is the best representation of alcoholism and alcoholics you'll ever see in a film.
It's woven through the fabric of the film and I was hoping it would be used impactfully when the chance arose.

Wonderful. A masterpiece.

Sixx 10-28-2019 07:54 AM

What film are you even talking about now?

Seanny One Ball 10-28-2019 10:17 AM

Videoman

Seanny One Ball 10-28-2019 07:09 PM

Dragon with Donnie Yen is great. It's like "A History Of Violence" with a sense of humour.

Seanny One Ball 10-28-2019 07:48 PM

It gets pretty damned dark actually... arguably darker than Cronenberg's AHOV in some ways. Interesting, it's still a lot of fun action-wise.

Dolemite Is My Name-8/10

Eddie Murphy is hilarious and magnetic. His charisma comes thru in prob one of his best comedy films. Hilarious at every turn but also heartfelt, and written well enough that you can't helpbut root for the characters. Wesley Snipes also turns up and he's hilarious as well. Loved it.

I shall be the judge here.

Nah, fuck it, every movie that isn't in English pisses me off. Yes, that includes those in Polish.
