well they've been calling him "the giant" in passing, so i'm sure it would be an easy transition if need be

Don't expext that one to happen anytime soon. Us silly wrestling fans would confuse him with Drew McIntyre.

Cool King 01-28-2011 04:22 AM

Are John Boy and Billy related to Ronald Basham III by any chance?

Cool King 01-28-2011 04:22 AM

Also, they won't get anywhere with it. Just like Basham, they've waited far too long to take legal action. Big Show has been using that name since 1999, so they've waited over a decade to sue. If they were actually not happy with the WWE using the name, they would have sued in 1999, or 2001 at the latest.

Another reason why is won't get anywhere is because "(The) Big Show" is being used by the WWE as a name for a character, whereas John Boy and Billy aren't actually using the name "Big Show". Their show is called "The John Boy & Billy Big Show", so they're on air personalities are John Boy, and Billy Big which together, they are doing a show. So none of them are actually called "Big Show", not even their show is called "Big Show". It would be understandable if Billy Big was called "Billy Big Show", he would have something to go with, but the man isn't called that so he's got nothing to fight with against the WWE.

Cool King 01-28-2011 04:49 AM

Nah, he isn't on SmackDown anymore. Tyler Reks went to TNA a few weeks-oh wait....

IMO i think it will tbh, i saw an advert on SkySports over here in England with part of it showing John Cena celebrating has Rumble match win from '08. It has a voice over saying "this year, one man will make history."

I feel that getting a second RR match win isn't making history since SCSA has won three, but winning the first ever 40 man RR match will be classed as makig history.

What do guys think?

(I posted this in here because i didn't feel that it was thread worthy.)

Technically just winning it is making history.

Yip. In fact I was watching that very Rumble yesterday and realised it was the one he won and was liek "Oh :-\".

MST3K fer teh muthafuckin' WIN!!! ^_^

As far as a (very likely unneccessary for topical reasons) re-boot: just re-hash his WCW introduction. Have someone give <s>Hulk Hogan</s> John Cena an oversized green singlet, and have him exclaim "MY GOD... THIS IS ANDRE'S!!!"

Tom Guycott 01-28-2011 07:55 AM

Okay, Jeff Hardy...

It's hard enough to take you seriously as "The Anti-Christ of Professional Wrestling" above the fangirl screaming. With that said, YOUR FORESKIN HOODIE HAS TO GO! You look like a dickhead. Literally, you look like the end result of a blowjob from a hooker and your smeared guyliner/manscara combo looks like the lipstick stains with that thing up.

That is all.

Provided that Billy Big Show was indeed using the name prior to 1999, then Paul Wright will be given an ultimatum.

Give up the name or pay a huge cashout for it.

Waylander 01-28-2011 08:31 AM

Well I've been calling him the Big Slow for many years now, so if he changed it to that the transition would be easy on me.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-28-2011 08:58 AM

lol

BizarroKing 01-28-2011 09:39 AM

He's been The Big Show since 1999, it'd be hard to picture him with a diff. moniker

Although I did hear he used to be called the "Big Nasty" during the first couple of weeks in his WWF/E career.

No, he looks like a yeti.

Do not ridicule the best gimmick ever.

Theo Dious 01-28-2011 09:59 AM

They're doing this for publicity or money or both.

thedamndest 01-28-2011 10:19 AM

This was a problem in the early 90's when radio DJ Red "Papa Shango" Jordan filed a similar suit but we all know how that turned out.

Why? Like Cool King said they've waited 10 years and its a radio show, im sure WWE has the name trademarked for wrestling since they go to the habit of trademarking everything they use, so i dont see what grounds they have.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-28-2011 11:49 AM

I like the Big Show (although he and Kane need to lose some weight)

But I highly doubt his name is trademarked for wrestling. Matter of fact, it's not.

WWE isn't a wrestling company, as it's an entertainment business and with entertainment there is also broadcasting (radio).

Okay and you know its not because? Even TNA trademark names solely for wrestling use, and after 10+years i find it hard to believe that this is the 1st time billy bigshow has heard theres a guy out there using his name on tv.

Which is why he filed suit against WWE for not checking to see if the name was already in use.

I hope that next year's Smackdown vs Raw game has Alberto Del Rio come out in a different car each time he makes his entrance.

.... And a Create-a-Car mode just for him. :shifty:

XL 01-28-2011 02:00 PM

But the name isn't in use. The guy is called "Billy Big" not "Billy Big Show".

Pretty sure Cool King pointed that out already. Geez.
