No, and the thing was that he didn't even seem that angry. It was all deadpan and matter of fact.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 01:15 AM

Holly was rumored to have been taking pain pills out of guys' bags. So he dropped the tag belts, was taken off TV for like 7-8 months, then release altogether.

Supposedly Kennedy was the one who either stooged him out to the office, or made the whole thing up - depending on who you want to believe.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 08:41 AM

I've never heard of that before. I always thought that it was just time for Bob to ride off into the sunset.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 09:26 AM

It was probably earlier according to most people. I always liked Holly though. More than I should. If I'm being objective about things, I'm not sure he sticks around post-2000 once Crash starts getting attention.

thekrow 09-23-2016 12:46 PM

Hardcore Holly is a lot like Devastator. A huge bad ass with a bad attitude who cant seem to get along with anyone in the back. Also someone who seems to be good enough to hold the title but just doesn't have the "It" to make it there.

Big Vic 09-23-2016 01:05 PM

I disagree, I always thought Devastator had "It"

Holly did not.

Randy Orton's politics are seeping through more and more. I can imagine it's not earning him support in certain quarters, but you know Vince McMahon is a fan, and that sort of thing appeals to the core fan-base of WWE. I wonder if this affects Orton's direction?

Wishbone 09-23-2016 05:51 PM

Meh, not surprising. Orton's always been a piece of shit as a human being. Why would his politics be any different? I imagine he'll continue exactly where he is too, if not get a big push for it. Like Noid said Vince probably loves him for it.

It is a bit interesting I suppose. Wrestlers currently on the roster do seem to be pretty hush hush about it. Honestly I think it sorta makes that seem more unusual though. Like now that Orton's done it I'm really wondering why more don't, unless maybe a lot of them have differing opinions to Vince. I mean if you agree with the boss I don't see why you'd be so afraid to voice it.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 08:45 PM

I can imagine it's that fear. I think it's also just concern about how they appeal to fans. When you talk about politics you divide a room. Orton clearly doesn't give a fuck.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 08:46 PM

I've noticed that about Orton since he's come back. His promos are just so...relaxed. And not in a bad way. You can just tell he's got that top star comfort out there. He'll do and say what he wants. On screen, it makes him very endearing.

Broken Matt (and Brother Nero) vs. The Elite vs. New Day in a three way, interpromotional... twitter war.

Emperor Smeat 09-23-2016 09:57 PM

According to the Observer, Cody Rhodes found a way around WWE's claim of the "Rhodes" name. WWE only prevented him from using it and not also his wife.

So if he ever has a mixed tag match with his wife, he can take the name as an implied last name since they'd be called "Cody & Brandi Rhodes". Same for using it whenever both are on the screen at the same time.

Right now he only uses Cody for his actual ring name.

Simple Fan 09-23-2016 10:05 PM

Kind of silly really. The Ryback legally changing is name is pretty funny. Not like WWE is going to have another Ryback on someone with Rhodes as a last name. In Cody's case it probably be benefitial to WWE to just let him use the name so I'd he ever comes back the Cody Rhodes character is reestablished already.

It's still real to me, DAMN IT! :D

Historically speaking, before American Alpha, there was the World's Greatest Tag Team. Before the World's Greatest Tag Team, there was the Steiner Brothers. Before the Steiner Brothers, there was the Varsity Club (which Rick Steiner was a part of at one point).

I should also point out that Varsity Club was absurdly over as heels. It was Sullivan's treatment of Rick Steiner that lead to him being as over as he was for the better part of 10 years. And they were just all around a better team (every variation). And the fact that you had some legit bad asses in the group at times with Steiner, Steve Williams, and later Dan Spivey...

But yes, I'm just throwing out love for Varsity Club.

Could be looking at a Styles vs Orton feud for the WWE title after No Mercy ppv since the sheets are teasing Ambrose is leaving to work on a new film for WWE Studios. Being teased he isn't returning till the Rumble at the earliest.

Cena's already expected to be gone till next year as well due to season 2 tapings for American Grit.

Oh god, SmackDown is going to be a bit barren, isn't it? But that being said, I suppose it is the AJ Styles Show right now. Orton does seem like the way they'll go, but there was part of me pulling for Bray Wyatt to win. Ha! Naive, I know.

Mr. Nerfect 09-24-2016 07:38 PM

I was hoping that Wyatt would pin Orton at No Mercy, beat him in a Street Fight at Survivor Series, and then win a Cage Match or something at Roadblock. Then he might have been in prime position to be seen as credible enough to win the Royal Rumble in January. I'm not saying that he would win, or that he should win, but you could have him ready to go if you've got Brock and Cena tangled up elsewhere.

Fignuts 09-24-2016 07:40 PM

Seriously, when it comes to Bray, I don't think I've been as disappointed in how someone was booked, since Ultimo Dragon got jobbed to an entire cruiserweight division that couldn't even lace his boots.

Mr. Nerfect 09-24-2016 08:32 PM

I should be happy for Harper getting a singles run -- he is tremendous -- but I do think there is a lot that can be done with The Wyatt Family as a team on SmackDown. But now that The Usos are heel and Slater/Rhyno are the babyface team, I guess that's a distant pipe-dream.

Cool King 09-24-2016 08:50 PM

Those lucky people who have tickets to the Wednesday show are in for a treat with that Darren Young vs Titus O'Neil match.

Mr. Nerfect 09-24-2016 09:46 PM

Am I the only one hoping New Day keeps the belts at Clash of Champions? I'm not the biggest fan of the direction the act is going, but I'm also not the biggest fan of Gallows & Anderson as a team. Well, certainly not as working Tag Team Champions. I'd be fine if they were just muscle for a guy like Kevin Owens.

I'd much rather see New Day vs. Enzo & Cass than Gallows & Anderson vs. Enzo & Cass.

Ultimo Dragon is still wrestling. There is a part of me that wouldn't mind the WWE bringing him in part-time for the occasional match if he's got the juice left. I honestly haven't seen his work. But man would that pop my soul.

Taka Michinoku is another cruiserweight whose return would just make me mark out. I don't have particular interest in a sustained run, but there's something heart-warming about these guys still being able to go. They'd make great opponents for TJ Perkins while you are building the younger guys lower on the card.

Mr. Nerfect 09-24-2016 10:59 PM

On a side note, has anyone else seen the Fit Finlay vs. Tajiri match from SMASH in 2012? I've mentioned it a few times on here, and I'm sure somehow from here actually brought it to my attention, but holy shit. I really feel this is an underrated gem, especially considering the age of the guys out there. Finlay would have been 54 and Tajiri would have been 41.

Kinda wanna see the F5 reversed into an RKO similar to that AA though. Not some shitty landing on his feet and then seeing Lesnar hop in the air to receive the move. :nono:

Unfortunately, his entire WWE career is summed up not by being a great worker, by slipping on that cape that was way too long and nearly eating shit dead center camera on the way to the ring.

Would be an interesting setup to pit the current Cruiserweight centerpiece against the first man WWE did this with about two decades ago in TAKA, the first Light Heavyweight champion. Provided WWE puts that point over to fans, that is.

I actually assumed that may have been part the point of the "Hangman" gimmick for Page (with the bigger point of him having *some sort* of character outside of "career stable lacky", even though I don't totally agree they "look similar" simply being two white boys named Adam.

I don't disagree with your point entirely, but there are a few qualifications.

Would be a bigger problem if they tagged often and Cole wasn't a pretty established guy already. Like, if they just debuted in ROH today as a no-name tag team with similar gear, it would be difficult to distinguish who is who for being "twinsy", like early WWE run Ryder and Hawkins.

Unrelated, the ROH stuff with Sullivan/Whitmer/Corino/etc. is fucking garbage. Has Kevin Sullivan ever done anything good?

Sullivan was a good heel in the territory days. I've enjoyed the clips of his pre-Dungeon of Doom stuff that I've seen. Good talker.

The Whitmer/ Corino story line has dragged on for a while. Sullivan has actually brought some life into the feud in my opinion and him redoing an old storyline from the 80s with the Devil worshiping gimmick has been alright I'm just not sure where its going.

The storyline has been going on for like 2 years now. Everyone was hoping it was over at the PPV (which shockingly ended up being one of the best matches on the card) and Kevin Sullivan shows up and who knows how the fuck long it's gonna go on for.

I gotta get something off my chest. I saw Jake Roberts on his tour recently. When we arrived to the venue he was greeting fans at the door and was very pleasant. Even told a guy in a wheelchair to go inside and get a free T-Shirt on him, from his daughter at the merch table. Well.....The show started....Jake was about 5 minutes into his set and the dudes alarm went off to take his meds (needed them to live and forgot to turn it off).....Jake told him to go fuck himself and literally went off on him for nearly 2 minutes making everyone upset and uncomfortable. The guy, who before the show was BEAMING after meeting his childhood idol literally sat there in misery until the last few minutes when he quietly tried to sneak away...Jake stopped the show yet again...cussed at him and even said he regretted giving him that shirt. I nearly cried. I fucking hate Jake The Snake Roberts. I knew he was kind of a dick but damn...that shit is ice cold.

Well..... It's not like his name is Jake 'The Golden Retriever" Roberts

And Seth Rollins isn't really an architect?

Sixx 09-26-2016 01:53 PM

what does his nickname have to do with anything here? it's not like he pounded on the guy with a live snake.

or did he?

He is the reason folks like Rick Steiner and Cactus Jack got as initially over as they did, using a variation of the same angle.

Then there's the Army of Darkness, which inspired the Wyatt Family.

He was an excellent foil for Ben... some guy, as well. The matches were nuts. I miss sloppy brawls, though.

Survivor Series currently rumored to be getting the 4 hour treatment based on a recent times listing on WWE's website.

Probably a safe bet Royal Rumble is going 4+ hours as well next year to complete the Big 4 or co-brand ppvs getting special treatment.

Nicky Fives 09-26-2016 05:34 PM

I'm still holding out for a 40-man Rumble return, even though I'm in the minority.....
