Lock Jaw 12-09-2012 11:04 PM

Hopefully she gets another book to write, because she is "the goods".

mitchables 12-09-2012 11:27 PM

Yeah, she is. Hoping it's just her being pulled from Batgirl and not being dropped from DC altogether.

Though I'd love to see her write some more Marvel stuff.

Shadow 12-10-2012 12:48 AM

If she does go back to Marvel, hope they throw her on Deadpool again.

Lock Jaw 12-10-2012 11:24 PM

Was totally going to buy The Dark Knight Rises today.... but pretty much all the special features are Blu-Ray only. That's total bushwa. I do not have Blu-Ray playing capability.

Passed on buying it due to lack of special features. Will just illegally download it instead. I hope they are happy.

Aaaaaaaaaaand I came.

Krimzon7 12-11-2012 02:44 PM

took my breath away. Nolan is absolutely the goods

Kalyx triaD 12-11-2012 02:46 PM

Think we should credit Zack Snyder for not being pretentious this time.

Made a new exclusive thread for this, any news I find will be posted there as usual.

Colton Haynes ("Teen Wolf") has joined the cast of the CW's "Arrow", TV Guide reports. He'll play none other than longtime Green Arrow sidekick Roy Harper.
With Ollie's little sister having Speedy as a nickname, I'd think they were going to promote her something down the line. Also, I'd think they wouldn't get in the sidekick business so soon.

Krimzon7 12-12-2012 07:21 AM

So, do you think Ollie will kill Merlin's dad in the season finale, finally sending Merlin off the deep end and starting the feud between the two?

Kalyx triaD 12-12-2012 07:45 AM

I have been wondering how they will evolve the Merlin thing, since so far he's a nice, sympathetic character. Then again Lex also started this way in Smallville, so I guess that would raise the tragedy level. They would need to find a way to make him adopt archery and then get to Ollie's level, which is Hawkeye level badassery. Just as interested in seeing Laur- Dinah's transformation into Black Canary, since a lot more nods were given that way.

With the well done Huntress arc out of the way, I would really like to see Ollie just add a damn mask to his suit. While I've been conditioned to accept domino masks and glasses somehow disguising a whole face, mere face paint is pushing it.

slik 12-12-2012 12:37 PM

I liked the new Man Of Steel preview.

I wonder why the Joker isn't targeting Batwoman in the "Death of the Family" arc playing out in Batman right now.

Kalyx triaD 12-12-2012 04:07 PM

Batwoman's just barely a part of the Bat-family. Did she get involved with the Owls thing? She's like a distant cousin whereas Batwing gets some action at least.

Lock Jaw 12-12-2012 10:06 PM

Just re-read the last few arcs of the pre-Flashpoint Justice League.

Huge mistake.

The final issue is the most depressing thing ever.

Kalyx triaD 12-12-2012 10:11 PM

Do tell.

I don't think she was involved with the Court of Owls. I know Morrison used her in Batman, Inc but maybe Snyder isn't interested in her character much.

I was just wondering if they'd ever show hal using any green lantern powers.

Lock Jaw 12-13-2012 12:17 PM

I bet the performance is by... uhhh... The Prankster.

Or Lobo.

Kalyx triaD 12-13-2012 03:50 PM

Zatarra? Zatanna? Both?

Tom Guycott 12-13-2012 05:32 PM

Power Girl's reaction looks like she got hit with a trash can in River City Ransom.

Kalyx triaD 12-13-2012 09:31 PM

I guess it was obvious how to handle Green Arrow's famous rival, Merlyn. And dat showdown was brutal.

Krimzon7 12-15-2012 02:34 AM

Yeah, it was pretty obvious after watching all the episodes how taht was gonna play out. Good to see it come to fruition. This show has some definite possibility

McLegend 12-15-2012 08:36 AM

I haven't seen the last Arrow yet, but you know what I like the show.

I think the biggest reason I like the show is because of the The dude playing Oliver Queen. He's pretty good.

Lock Jaw 12-15-2012 09:08 PM

Young Justice returns on January 5th, BTW.

Shadow 12-15-2012 10:16 PM

Oh thank god.

Had to be. No other reason to reverse the decision.

Lock Jaw 12-22-2012 08:30 PM

The reason is that they will play it off as NEW and DARING, and start off with a BRAND NEW number one. Also, Batgirl will have a NEW HAT!

I got my third monthly issue of "Batman" yesterday. Pretty sure I'm a month behind sure to DC lagging, but thus far, from the start of the story arc to issue #15, I'm loving "Death to the Family". Don't know how others generally feel about the current going ons, but I'm hooked thus far.

Krimzon7 12-23-2012 10:03 PM

Anybody listen to Fatman on Batman? Really enjoy the podcast. The Scott Snyder interview was pretty interesting.

Kalyx triaD 12-31-2012 09:11 AM

Been gorging on Justice League Unlimited episodes. Anybody have favorite episodes and moments from the entire DC Animated Universe line?

Batman: TAS/Batman: TNA
Superman: TAS
Batman Beyond
Static Shock
Project ZETA
Justice League/Justice League Unlimited

McLegend 12-31-2012 12:39 PM

Batman TAS: Heart of Ice

The New Batman adventures: Over the edge

Superman TAS: Legacy... World's Finest also gets a mention

Batman Beyond: Out of the Past

Justice League: The entire Cadmus arc... That's the highest point of the entire DCAU.

Nowhere Man 12-31-2012 12:39 PM

God, I loved the DCAU. So many kickass moments out of those shows.

Some of my favorites:

Batman the Animated Series:

Batman's dream-sequence after being poisoned by Scarecrow:
http://youtu.be/BW1jU_rex8Y

The Joker's eulogy when he thinks Batman's dead:
http://youtu.be/Ld0uIhst3TA

Killer Croc's "Almost Got Him" story:
http://youtu.be/HEdg4glpCkg

The final confrontation with the Joker (okay, this is technically from the Batman Beyond movie, but it uses characters from BTAS):
http://youtu.be/_JEa71aS3oU

Superman The Animated Series:

Clark spills the beans to Lois, kinda sorta:
http://youtu.be/gbQBI1ZMugo

Basically the entire episode of "Brave New Metropolis:"
http://youtu.be/-SMMK8wtwiQ

Superman's final battle with Darkseid:
http://youtu.be/ZVzGyqSbGew

Justice League/Unlimited:

The Question confronts Lex Luthor, only to find out why you never piss off Lex Luthor:
http://youtu.be/9iizKYUNY3I

Shining Knight gets his ass handed to him, keeps fighting anyway:
http://youtu.be/YRiOxDy-HcI

Superman and Captain Marvel slug it out and destroy an entire city:
http://youtu.be/6BJ1-trrgqc

Kalyx triaD 12-31-2012 01:54 PM

Justice League is the pinnacle of comic book cartoons. I could say the usual Batman TAS nod but there's just too many moments in that era of the DCAU that made me happy to be born in this era of human history to see them. Not even joking.

Lock Jaw 12-31-2012 02:15 PM

Yeah. Was recently surprised when I saw that CW still plays Justice League as part of its Saturday Morning Lineup.... but then I was like "Well, actually... that is pretty much the height of superhero cartoons, so I guess it makes sense"

I DON'T SHIP THEM

That's still really sweet though. But no. That ship will not sail.

McLegend 12-31-2012 10:22 PM

I just read

Batman Year One
Dark Victory
Hush

I was slighty disappointed with Batman Year one. I thought it was going to be different and delve more into his trainning, and pre-Batman things. Still good.

Dark Victory I really liked. I enjoyed the Robin orgin, and it was good mystery. Not as good as Long Halloween.

Hush was really good. I really liked the interaction between Batman and Catwoman. Also a good mystery, and the ultimate revel was a little confusing, but it still worked it terms of the story.

I think Hush was my favorite.

The Diana's B-Day/Love Triangle arc is likely going to blow up by the 100th episode.

Nah I mean in general. Even in mainline DCNU comics. Just not a fan of Diana and Clark together.

I am a Bruce/Diana shipper, though.

Which reminds me of another one of the best moments in the DCAU:

Yeah, I loved their exchanges and general relationship in the DCAU. This Little Piggy is easily one of JLU's sweetest episodes. I dunno. Something about them together, or even not together but still obviously into each other, gels better with me than the alternative. But eh. It's not something that makes or breaks comics for me really.

Fignuts 01-01-2013 03:08 AM

Calvin and Hobbes will always be the most awesome, heartwarming comic ever to me, but I gotta say, this "lil' justice league" is some pretty classy stuff.

Kalyx triaD 01-01-2013 04:38 AM

I have more interest reading that than the actual DCnU Justice League comic.

Triple Naitch 01-01-2013 11:22 AM

I don't get it.

Kalyx triaD 01-01-2013 01:36 PM

DC characters as kids.

Triple Naitch 01-01-2013 02:32 PM

Oh ok

Damian Rey 01-01-2013 05:05 PM

Hush wasn't as good the second time I read it. Year One was awesome, but it's a Gordon story first and foremost.

Dark Victory was a solid follow up to the Long Halloween.

Lock Jaw 01-01-2013 05:52 PM

Dang. Hate it when a series gets canceled and is left with dangling plotlines.

slik 01-01-2013 07:39 PM

Wonder when they will introduce Mongul into the new 52. Probably not anytime soon since Darkseid is still fairly recent and Mongul is a bit of a rip-off.

Lock Jaw 01-01-2013 08:12 PM

Well... he was last seen being trapped into the Yellow Power Battery or something by Sinestro... and since Green Lantern got pretty much no reboot... that could very well still be in continuity.

mitchables 01-01-2013 08:23 PM

What got cancelled?

Also, Scott Lobdell's off Red Hood and the Outlaws. About time.

Oh :D

Well the dude that's taking over is apparently a Snyder protege, so it might actually turn around. Here's hoping, anyway.

Either way, Lobdell just needs to go, period. He does terrible work. His Lois Lane is truly fucking awful.

Lock Jaw 01-01-2013 08:52 PM

I've been using my holiday period to finish reading the old Swamp Thing. Finished up vol 2 and vol 3. Currently starting vol 4, which is the last stuff until the current series.

Seriously. I don't get how you can have an A-lister like Grant Morrison, somebody who knows how to write a genuinely excellent Superman story, on the secondary title, while the main Superman comic is being handled by the same guy who turned Starfire into a blow-up doll.

Lois Lane, entertainment reporter, apparently.

This is the woman who used to be able to bring down anybody with one article, who never gave up on chasing a story regardless of the personal danger it put her in, who believes in the power of the media to have a lasting and wide-reaching impact. I know Lois Lane, and this is not her.

Tom Guycott 01-06-2013 12:37 AM

Totally started humming "The Moon" from the NES Ducktales looking at that pic, and remembering that I used to stare up like that at night when I was young enough not to need glasses. Space was so limitless, and there could be ANYTHING up there happening RIGHT NOW!!! ^_^

Lock Jaw 01-06-2013 12:54 AM

Having glasses does not prevent you from staring up at the night sky. I do it all the time.

Tom Guycott 01-06-2013 06:07 AM

No, it doesn't. However, that childlike wonder was a lot higher when I could see the face on the moon without the aid of eyewear. Also, I was like 5. 5 is synonymous with "childlike wonder".

More about passage of time and metaphors and less about actual ability.
