The Children - 6/10
Standard. |
Taxi Driver. 7/10
I really had a hard time coming up with a number for this one. Like I was saying in the "Better Movie" thread, there's really nothing wrong with the movie. It's just not my kind of movie. It's very slow and drawn out and I found myself bored a few times. The directing, acting and story were all great, but the pace killed it for me. I can't believe Jodie Foster was like 13 years old in real life there. That seems crazy to me that she was doing that role. |
Distric 9 - 8/10.
Citizen Kane - 6/10 |
star trek 2009 - 9/10
the fountain - 1/10 |

9/10 schwarzenegger kicking satan's ass. Aside from Terminator, I think this is one of the better Schwarzenegger movies. |
(500) Days of Summer - 6/10
|
9 - 4/5 (great, but could have been longer.)
|
The X Files - I Want to Believe: 7.5/10
Was a huge fan of the show. Someone who wasn't would probably score it lower. |
Grizzly Man - 10/10
Brilliant documentary by Werner Herzog. It's even better than his documentary on the actor and mentalist, Klaus Kinski. |
Idiocracy - 4/10
|
You must be riveted

It was really good. And he is pretty awesome, gotta love Brick too, you seen that?
|
The Killing Room - 5/10 - good idea, kinda poorly executed and pretty much saw the ending coming with him not escaping/being continued.
|
Final destination 3D - 1/10
God awful piece of shit movie. Inglorious Basterds - 8/10 |

Slumdog Millionaire 8/10

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 3.5/5
Not bad, but why make a movie about a mutant's backstory, when we comic geeks know the backstory beforehand? Mark out moment when Patrick Stewart arrived on Airwolf. Props to Will.i.am and his acting. Damn fine job. Better than Taboo's work in Street Fighter. |
I'm not a comic book geek....so I didn't know about any backstory. Plus, I didn't like the X-Men movies, but Wolverine I actually liked. I'd like to buy it on DVD.
The Incredibles - 8/10. 85%. Pass.Pass.Fail. 4/5. However you want to rate it, the movie was incredible. |
Wolverine: X-men origins. 2/10
Wow, were they kidding here? It's like they wrote an action movie and didn't have any characters so they just said "let's take some X-men characters and throw them in." Each X-men movie has gotten worse and worse since the first one and this one takes the cake. They just totaly raped X-men all together. I think they just threw Gambit in this movie to shut up all the people who have been wanting him forever. Deadpool was a joke. We have a mutant that can turn on lightbulbs or some shit. ugh, just horrendous booking |
extract 7/10

Some movies I caught at the Toronto Film Festival.
Baaria - Ugh horrible movie, didn't really want to see this, but my girlfriend and I always try to see one movie together at the festival and this was the best looking movie we could work around our schedules. Plus I thought Giuseppe Tornatore was a pretty competent director, despite finding Cinema Paradiso kinda overrated. Don't feel like talking about it. 3/10 Life During Wartime - New Todd Solondz movie, kind of a quasi sequel to Happiness although every character has been recast. Found it kinda underwhelming seeing as most critics seem to have gotten back on the Solondz bandwagon. However, there are a some really good scenes and I love Solondz dark comedy and sympathy for outsiders, I especially loved Trish's zionist love prospect and his neurotic son. A lot of it felt like Solondz doing the same shit though, housewives don't understand the complexity of terrorism, awkward conversations between adults and children yada, yada, yada. Not nearly as funny, poignant, or as audacious as Happiness. 7/10 My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done - A David Lynch, Werner Herzog collaboration is any film buffs dream come true, too bad they couldn't have come to together to make a better film. It's about a mentally unstable man who kills his mother with a sword, then locks himself in his house with hostages. Quirky and weird with some good moments, but not nearly as good as it could have been, the actual hostage scenes were boring and dumb. Herzog did a Q&A session afterwards, so that was kinda cool. 6/10 |
Duplex - 5/10.
I actually enjoyed this.... |
Religulous - 7/10
Quite funny, but nothing really "original" being said. |

He is also the only reason i'm going to see a film featuring Nicholas Cage again. |
fight club - 9/10
made me think too much about materialism and "what i live for" |

Year One - 4.5/10
David Cross was the funniest in the movie. Any bets they make a 'Year Two' and its double as bad. |
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - 7/10
I wanted to enjoy it (and if I were on drugs I really would have) but it fell flat to me. |
Old Boy 9.5/10---- holy shit. Crazy ass Korean movie, blue my fucking mind. Was like shakespeare and greek tragedies on crack.
|

2/10 An extra point for the animation quality, but the movie was horrible. Can't believe I was so bored in a roughly 75 minute long movie. When it ended, I was both angry and relieved.. Angry because I was like "THAT'S how they're going to end it?" and relieved because it was over finally. |
9 - 6/10.
Nah, it was good. It was a bit out there....like...what are the characters supposed to be? It reminded me of a cross between Beowulf and Wall-E. Beowulf because it's characters fighting against some....thing (machine) and Wall-E because it takes place in a similar world and I felt it didn't really need dialogue. IDK, I don't feel like making sense right now....animation was great. Spaceballs - 8/10. Seen this a while back, just watched it again. Friggen hilarious. |

Role Models - 7/10
The Hangover - 9.5/10 - Funniest movie I've seen in a long time. |
Observe and Report - 6/10
Had a few funny parts, but overall I was a little disappointed in this movie. |
Quote:
|
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies - 5/5
I'm biased here, maybe a solid 4 but I've been waiting to hear Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy say these lines for years. |

Role Models 6/10 - Pretty good. I finally liked Paul Rudd in a movie. The middle portion was slow though, but overall much better than the trailers made it out to be.
|
The Outsiders. 10/10
Never saw this until Swayze died so I rented it. Good flick. |
How have you never seen the Outsiders??
Grand Tarino 10/10 Absolutely amazing movie.. Eastwood is perfect at playing the super salty, crotchety old war vet.. Also, it is hilarious how openly racist he is.. Very touching at times too.. Great movie.. Get Smart 8/10 Had some funny parts but some of it seemed to be geared towards children.. Steve Carrel was perfectly cast as Maxwell Smart and The Rock is so awesome in that "I'm the baddest dude in the room" major jock character.. |
Boondock Saints 9/10
|
The Final Destination 3D - 5/10
Not really judging this as a movie per se. I watch stuff like this and the Saw films just to see how they put the deaths/traps together and see what twist they come up with. It's blatant rinse-and-repeat film making and thus it's hard/pointless judging it as you would a normal release. This is also the first time I've seen a 3D film. Not that impressed tbh. |
(500) Days of Summer - 7.5-8/10
Best romantic comedy I've seen in quite a long time. Both leads are pretty perfect fits for their roles. 'Original' I think would be the right word. Definitely worth seeing. |
Cabin Fever (remake) 2/10.
I didn't see the whole thing, but I don't think I need to in order to understand what really went on. It just seemed like it was poorly done and the ending just made you go :wtf: |
The Zombie Diaries - 2/10
I love zombie movies, but this one is just awful. I didn't care about any of the characters (one of which is possibly the worst actor I've ever seen) and the ending leaves you saing, "Huh? That's it?" The timeline is dreadful, too. It starts out at the end, then goes to the beginning. From the beginning, it moves to a month later, then ten days earlier, and finishes back at the end. More like Zombie Diarrhea. |
Jennifer's Body - 6/10
Hero - 9/10 Awesome Chinese movie. Think Crouching Tiger with a little bit of history. |
Adam Brody was awesome in Jennifer's Body, btw.
|
Chasing Amy 9/10
|
Doomsday 1/10
Fucking hell, I was looking at the pen on the table and seriously considering stabbing myself in the throat till I was dead. |

Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day
9.5/10 :D |
Falling Down - 9.9/10.
I haven't decided why this isn't a 10 yet. This was badass. Michael Douglas was awesome. I really got into this, last time I watched a movie that I really got into was Gran Torino, although this is movie is much older. I can relate to this movie too, which I think we all can.... |
the informant! 8/10
|
the informers 5/10
|
XMen Origins: Wolverine: 8/10
|
Jennifer's Body - 1/10.
Megan Fox is hot, but Odette Yustman is better :p The people who I went to see this with are so gullible. They're like "Thats the best movie I've ever seen. It scared me to death." It sucked....it just sucked.... |
Public Enemies - Batman/Superman 8/10

State of Play: 8/10
pretty good movie with Russel Crow and Ben Aflek Ghosts of Girlfriends Past: 6/10: meh, chick flick. my wife enjoyed it |
Why's that funny, LC?
Babylon AD - 4/10. |
Surrogates - 6/10 unremarkable.
Inglourious Basterds - 8.5/10 couple of slow spots, but generally awesome. |
Observe and Report- 9/10
Fucking hilarious |
Quote:
I thought it was terrible with only a few funny bits. |
Yeah Observe and Report was fairly awful.
|
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
If I didn't know a lot about X-Men 8/10 since I do know a lot about X-Men 6/10 |
Crank 2 - there are no words..or numbers to describe it..
|
Zombieland 5/5
|
Quote:
Killer Klowns - 8/10. Pretty fucking weird. |
Jarhead 8/10
|
Zombieland 8/10
I had a blast at this movie, but I don't think I'll feel the need to see it again and again. I'll definitely see it again, but it's not one of those movies I'll wear out on dvd. |
Observe and Report - 1/10
Tried to watch it with the wife.....an hour into it we hadnt laughed once and both figured out we wasted a dollar at Redbox for this POS. |
Year One - 7/10
I didn't find it as bad as everyone else, thought it was fun. |
Zombieland - 8/10 - Funny, but lacked zombies.
|
Observe and Report - 1/5
It looked pretty cool from the movie trailers, then I bring it home and turn it off about 45 mins into it. Not funny at all. |

I might actually have to go see Crank 3D, because they're going to pull off some crazy shit for that. Adventureland - 7/10 - I get the criticism that it looked like it was supposed to be a Superbad clone and wasn't, but it was still good. |
Zombieland - 8.5/10
Gets a bit slow/unfunny near the middle of the film but  at Bill Murray being in the film |
Year One - 8/10
My expectations were low for this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty good overall. Especially if you're a Jack Black or Micheal Cera fan. |
In Bruges - 8/10
|
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies - 10/10
|
Adventureland - 9/10
I really liked this movie. I was expecting a "Apatow style" comedy with outrageous humor, but it was a lot more subtle. |
I heard its like a John Hughes movie
|
you know, now that i think about it, that sounds right
|
really good movie
|
I kind of view Kevin Smith and Judd Apatow movies as John Hughes movies with dirty language, though
|
that makes sense
|

Also.. Last House on the Left Remake 6/10 - quite, um..tame compared to the original though the rape scene on the unrated edition is still pretty hard to watch even compared to what was in the original. |
Zombieland: 7/10
The Informant: 7/10 |

Under Siege 2 - 4/10.
Came to the conclusion that Seagal movies are kind of boring....except Out for Justice. |
aren't all Seagal movies the exact same thing?

Couples Retreat - 7.5/10
All the funny parts are in the commercials. Kinda killed what could have been a really good movie. |
Evil Dead II-8/10
|
Quote:
District 9 - 8/10 |
you should, in bruges is really good
|
Conversations With Other Women - 7/10
Very enjoyable, dunno. When I'm in the mood for a 'romance' kinda thing I really dig it, and this one was very spontaneous and believable, not full of overly explained, clunky dialogue. Pocahontas - 7/10 :$ Yeah I fagged it up last night, sue me. |
