Done with The Frozen Wilds and Darksiders Warmastered. Now I'm playing through Bound really quick since it was free.

Bound is some of the trippiest visuals in a game I have ever seen. Right up there with El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. Really wish I had a VR headset to experience it that way; also acid.

ClockShot 11-21-2017 04:24 PM

AC: Origins is done. Should have Horizon: The Frozen Wilds all set tonight, with killing some machines to get to 60 to come after. Then I'll jump back and finish Darksiders 2.

Ruien 11-21-2017 10:55 PM

Just finished Halo 2 on heroic. Kind of burnt out now. Probably won't start the third one for a couple of days.

If you haven't played Horizon in a while, be prepared to get stomped for a bit as you remember how to play it. The very first machine ate me quite a few times before I started getting back into the swing of things lol

ClockShot 11-23-2017 07:20 AM

Nah. I figured it out. Didn't take long to get reacquainted with the controls.

ClockShot 11-23-2017 08:09 PM

Beat Darksiders 2 today. Great game, but felt like the development team just rushed the ending because it just.............ended. Probably will do a 2nd playthrough another time.

Black Friday is tomorrow and I plan on grabbing Destiny 2 and Shadow of War. But I also have Hellblade, and another my alternate run of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided ready to go.

Suggestions on what to play?

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-24-2017 12:48 PM

I've bought Assassins Creed: Syndicate on the UPlay sale, and will probably start that tomorrow.

I've never played any of AC games, before.

Destor 11-24-2017 01:05 PM

Its considered by many to be the bottom of the barrel with unity giving it a good fight for worst ever. I got it on the cheap and had fun with it

Destor 11-24-2017 01:06 PM

I loved Evee

Destor 11-24-2017 01:07 PM

Prob the worst free running in the series but up to that point the best combat...

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-24-2017 04:08 PM

I liked the look of the Victorian setting, which is why I got it; but I bought it for over 50% off, so if it sucks, no biggie.

I was thinking of either getting Far Cry 3 or 4 on sale as well; which would be best?

Destor 11-24-2017 04:08 PM

I loved fc4

ClockShot 11-24-2017 07:42 PM

Far Cry 3 has THE BEST villain and setting.

Hated Far Cry 4.

Destor 11-24-2017 07:50 PM

Only solution is for clockshot and i to fight to the death

Fignuts 11-24-2017 08:08 PM

Thought it was the gayest thing ever when Vaas died halfway through the game so some generic mercenary geek could take over. Don't even remember his name.

Far cry 4 gets my vote just for that.

Destor 11-26-2017 02:55 PM

Just beat ni no kuni. Not the most difficult rpg but the story, atmosphere and lore...just top of the line. Real gem.

ClockShot 11-26-2017 05:33 PM

Started up Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Fignuts 11-26-2017 06:07 PM

I really want to play that.

Emperor Smeat 11-26-2017 08:22 PM

I'm a Ghibli mark so I pre-ordered the collectors edition, it came with a physical compendium and it's a glorious tome. Real big fan of Ni No Kuni, a bit disappointed there are no familiars in the sequel but I'll still be picking it up as soon as I can.

Ultra Mantis 11-26-2017 09:11 PM

Just finished Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin. Still the weakest entry in the series, so many cheap tricks and enemy placements really make some sections not much fun. It's not even in a "Dark Souls is hard" way either, because Dark Souls 2 is the easiest one in the whole series, it just likes to throw so much bullshit at you and breaks its own rules so much that the difficulty seems artificial in comparison to the other games.

The DLC was the main attraction of this version for me, and it is the best and worst of Dark Souls 2 all at once. There is a great boss in each of the DLCs, I'd say they are actually three of the best bosses in Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls DLC always delivers a great Dragon boss fight, every single time. Weird that they never get it right in the main game but always in the DLC. Fume Knight is just fantastic, getting his pattern down takes some tries but it gave me that Souls satisfaction that's oddly absent from 90% of the bosses in the main game.

The DLC also feature the hands down worst boss and area in the whole series. There is a boss that is three red phantoms, who have infinite stamina and can frame cancel their frame cancels, backstab when you're facing them and cannot be stunned. There is an area which is a wide open snowfield and you cannot see a fucking thing, meanwhile lightning unicorns seemingly spawn on top of you every 30 seconds. Both of these areas are "optional" and not required to get the main prize of the DLC but fucking hell I must be some kind of masochist.

Gonna speedrun NG+ to platinum this and then it's either Final Fantasy 9 PS4 or Persona 3, not sure yet. Have played FF9 about 10 times before but I'm not holding that against it.

RP 11-26-2017 10:27 PM

I'm about half way finished with the first Ratchet and Clank.

Fignuts 11-26-2017 10:28 PM

Finished Dark Souls

Feel like after Anor Londo, it's not as soul crushingly hard. 4th try for Smaug and Ornstein btw. Got really lucky though. Had a divine weapon going into the catacombs, so that was easy. Was powerful enough that the lack of bonfires in New Londo Ruins didn't matter and I blasted through it no problem. Bonfires in other areas seemed more generous.

Holy shit, that DLC though. Artorias might be my favorite boss fight ever.

Gwen was kind of a bitch, tbh. He hits hard enough, but it's not that difficult to navigate through his attacks. Beat him first try.

Just bought Evil Within for 7 bucks on PSN, so I'm gonna start that up. RE4 is my second favorite game from the PS2 era behind Firepro, so expecting good things.

I started playing when it was releashed with a girl i was seeing, playing in tandem innit? We both pop for Ghibli and jrpgs so it was a good fit tidy? Cept we hit whatcha call a spat before we finished the playthrough. And ouer course it was her copy. Left me right bent mun.

Took me a spell to get back to it but played quite grand all the same Manti my boi.

Finished Halo 3. On to 4 now. This was such a nice pick up for 30 dollars.

Emperor Smeat 11-30-2017 11:25 PM

I actually hated Halo 3 not because it was terrible or boring but because the blur effects used at times gave me huge headaches after a while. Especially the Gravemind level where it happened a lot more frequently.

Ruien 11-30-2017 11:53 PM

Ya.

I really like how much effort they put into 1 and 2 for the remastered versions.

Everbody's Golf. Always loved the series of games. Only game I have played for months.

Sepholio 12-03-2017 05:56 PM

Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition.

Loved this game the first time around but never got a chance to play the DLC. All included now so yay for me. I love these games. Can't wait for part 3 next year.

Sepholio 12-03-2017 06:03 PM

After that though I have a huge log of games to choose from. Might blaze through the new Uncharted first though as it is much shorter than Shadow of War or Assassins Creed Origins. Will def be one of those 3 though.

Destor 12-03-2017 06:28 PM

Playjng origins now. The size of the game is impressive. Combat is deep. Leveling system (skill trees) are good. So far im positive about it.

Ruien 12-03-2017 10:59 PM

Beat halo 4. Game never gave me my achievement for beating one of the missions in Halo 2 though so I need to redo that. Then I will have everything beat in heroic. I probably won't go back to do all 4 games in legendary for awhile. Have Destiny 2 now and might start playing WoW again.

Ruien 12-03-2017 11:36 PM

Ended up being the worst level ever. All done now though. Tomorrow is the start of a new gamw.

Heisenberg 12-07-2017 03:15 PM

The Witcher 3, finally got into it, did the same thing I did with Fallout 3 and wait until all the hype died down so people at work wouldn't ruin my escapism with their spoiled view on gaming.

This game has the "choice" mechanism down pat. The quests are very entertaining and this game was tagged in while playing Skyrim on my PC(PC crashed), this Skyrim run was my 4th attempt to get invested and this time I was in it to win it. Still am if I can recover my PC from purgatory.

If you get it on the cheap you will def get your money worth. It takes a lot of elements from really good games and while it fdoesnt do those things quite as well it still does them very well.

I think it will easily be my favorite of the series by the time im done.

Ultra Mantis 12-07-2017 05:53 PM

Started Persona 3 FES.

Kinda clunky opening sequence and you only control the MC in battle but I've heard it gets better. First girl team mate you meet has Kawakami's VA too. Just opened up free roaming. Feels good to be back.

PC restored, time to download my Steam library again. The Witcher 3 is top billing though. The godlings are my people, the two that I've ran across have been saved/taken care of. At no point in my handlings of them did I want to lay a hand on them.

Godling:

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-09-2017 10:23 AM

Man, I think with the two DLCs, I must have spent five-six months playing Witcher 3. I was bereft once I had completed the game. As much as I loved Skyrim (and I know W3 is more story-based than Skyrim), W3 was so much deeper. I'm not sure if I could go back to Skyrim, now. Bethesda need to get the makers of W3 to do the next Elder Scrolls game.

I'm currently playing AC: Syndicate; the combat seems a bit blah to me.

Heisenberg 12-11-2017 01:29 PM

Last night on Witcher 3:

Keira had me do a lot of quests that led up to a score, didn't even know their backstory, but my wife told me that Keira wanted Geralt and she doesn't know that I'm roleplaying as a good person who doesn't take advantage of too many opportunities. The roleplaying sometimes takes an awkward turn for the worse as the decisions made during the final exchange on that haunted island, my Geralt turned heel and slayed his newly bedded lover.

My wife continues to view my playthrough, it was the first time she saw me turn on someone. Usually I'll do quests like hunting beasts for peasants and tell them to keep it, but when Keira used me something "Me, Myself and Irene" went off in Geralt and he couldn't be controlled as his newly repaired blade drove through the orifice of which he just entered the night before.

I've just cleared the second event and I'm enjoying it, the combat side of things is mainly mementos style dungeon crawling but I'm still really early. Social links are weird, you can actually fall out with them and have the ranks go down if you stand them up or hang out with other people. I'm already accidentally in a serious relationship with a girl just because I hung out too many times. It could happen to you too.

It can get a bit grindy, not as much as the other SMT titles I've played and you really only need to go fighting 1-2 times a month unless you're doing certain side quests. EXP earned is relative to level disparity, so there's a soft cap on how many levels you can realistically grind between events. Unlike P5 you will need to do some levelling. Still, getting ambushed and your MC focused and stun locked to death before you even get a turn is a real hazard. AI party can be dumb as fuck at times. Other than that it's great, soundtrack is bizarre, especially the dorm theme.

Destor 12-13-2017 11:29 PM

Lost Odyssey used a level system like that and it worked grest to keep you always in compelling boss fights.

Ultra Mantis 12-14-2017 08:27 PM

Yeah the bosses are always a challenge, usually a near death experience even when I come out unscathed.

Just beat the mid-boss of the third ascent, putting it in spoilers just in case

Dude. I can't even begin to tell you how obsessed I was with getting all the achievements on Borderlands and Borderlands 2.

Some of those tricky "Collect X of" whatever items in the original's Claptrap's New Robot Revoluton DLC (I fucking abhor dangling trophies and achievements in front of the player to goad them to basically go on long fetch quests for collectibles but I digress) that I finally resorted to the known method of farming MINAC (the end boss) where you basically just wait for him (a gigantic APC type thing) to drop the quantity of whatever is needed and then go back to hiding where he can't kill/hurt you until all the achievements are complete.

ClockShot 12-17-2017 07:50 PM

Yep. That's what I did. Just hid in those rocks and walked away for a little while and let him destroy the other claptraps or whatever got blown up.

Last night on Witcher 3:

Spent most of the weekend freeing Dandelion, the Bard and friend of Geralt. he looks like T.J. Miller wearing a jester costume. Did some work with Triss, helped her and other mages get out of town. She left on a ship with them and the guy that runs the bathhouse got pissed at me for not convincing her to stay. We kissed at a party, but I'm booking this one towards Yennefer's way.

If anyone knows about fighting ghosts in this one, would the Specter Oil suffice for all wraiths/ghost apparations I get put in a contract with?

Sepholio 12-19-2017 05:43 AM

Yeah spectre oil works wonders. You may want to try and find the diagrams or whatever of the enhanced/superior versions for a couple of the harder encounters with wraith enemies, such as contracts or when they gang up on you occasionally. Moon dust and dimeritium bombs also work wonders on them.

Heisenberg 12-19-2017 10:13 AM

Perhaps Geralt will craft some spectre oil to mourn the presence of Triss, plus he left Yennefer in Skellige to complete some side quests/contracts.

Maintaining 3 games: Witcher 3, CoD: WW2 and WWE2K18.

In WWE Universe Mode Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton teamed up as Dudes With Attitude, they are going to feud with the Dangerous Alliance of Tatanka/Lex Luger, then both teams will eventually break off and get their WM moment.

Going to create a "Born Again Christian" that will DELETE the "Sinnah"

When fighting wraiths of any description, you generally need to be using the yrden sign.

Destor 12-19-2017 12:55 PM

Yup. Yarden and then just hold your ground.

Destor 12-19-2017 12:55 PM

I like to strafe around the sigil but i went full Cat so I was nimble enough to force ghosts to stay inside it pretty easily.

Heisenberg 12-19-2017 01:59 PM

OOOOOOooohHHH!! One more level(17) and my Geralt is going to start that Cat Armor quest. It would help to be more nimble. The second time around I heard that you can do a harder version and that will be the time combat is taken more seriously. The Batman games have been awesome in tying combos together and this system is fun to tinker with.

Emperor Smeat 12-19-2017 04:25 PM

Paper Mario Color Splash.

My nephew got it as an early gift even though he doesn't own a Wii U. Doing the same as with Mario + Rabbids with having my own save file on the side so whenever he gets really stuck, I can easily help him out.

Destor 12-19-2017 04:52 PM

Heisenberg 12-20-2017 01:06 PM

Geralt of Rivia visited the Skellige Isles and was invited to a party with Yennefer, he rode Roach(his horse) into the party and it affected the cut scenes quite a bit. It was glorious.

Yennefer and Geralt did it before going back to the party, they had snuck out to break into someone's lab.

Haven't found it to be bad so far but series itself still peaked with Thousand Year Door.

The writing has pretty much been the only thing that's been consistently great with the series.

Halo 2. Lots of really questionable and terrible design choices in regards to the campaign.

Also doing nothing to change my mind that ODST was the only reason why I got interested in this series and Reach being the best game in it.

Fignuts 12-23-2017 07:18 PM

Started borderlands 2.

Dunno. Plays well and all, but having the same disinterest in the game world that I had in borderlands 1. Like, it almost seems too barren. I like my post apocalyptic wastelands to have lost of shit everywhere and cool places to explore. So far BL2 has been unimpressive in that regard.

Mad Max gets away with having a whole lot of nothing on the map because the vehicle combat is so god damn fun. But vehicular combat in bl2 is pretty dull.

Probably not going to stick with this. Like 70 games on the backlog, so if one doesn't impress, it gets put on the shelf pretty quick.

Also, I don't think a lot of people played mad max because it came out with Fallout 4, but you should definitely give it a shot. Really fun game.

I don't think I've died so many times in a game as I have in the three hours I have played Dark Souls III; an absolute bastard of a game.

Borderlands 2 got a lot of easter eggs and stuff hidden in the game. But, it's better with a buddy or two for some of the end game bosses. They're on the hard side.

Just invaded another person's game on Dark Souls III, and I put them to the sword. Glorious!

Hopefully next Steam sale will be friendly towards the Dark Souls games. It's a series that I put off just like the Witcher and have hated myself for it
