Feels weird people are paying so much for the Nintendo Classic system. Only 30 games and it can't be plugged into the internet for updates/more games being added in. Seems like a waste.

Fignuts 11-12-2016 02:32 PM

Yeah, if I knew there wss an update system, I'd be more inclined to shrll out for it, but with only 30 games, some of which I have no interest in, it''s a hard sell for me.

Obviously emulation being so eady and readily available is a factor as well.

#BROKEN Hasney 11-12-2016 06:40 PM

It is recognised on a PC as a USB device so people are working on hacking it, but since they made it be recognised, Nintendo might have plans.

Kalyx triaD 11-12-2016 09:09 PM

Did the VC platform die or something..? I'm also perplexed at the enthusiasm for a miniconsole that's essentially like those mini segas that were also rendered obsolete by a huge sega collection relessed a while back. I don't get it. Is it cause it's cute?

Emperor Smeat 11-12-2016 09:42 PM

No but VC support has been pretty low for both the 3DS and Wii U this gen. Mainly because a lot of third party companies not bothering unlike with the Wii and Nintendo having to do more work for the games.

This is probably just them taping into the nostalgia market since the NES is usually #1 for retro consoles and beefing up their holiday lineup for big stuff since all they have is Pokemon and Super Mario Maker for the 3DS.

Probably also helps Nintendo put a lot more effort with the NES Classic than Atari, SNK, and Sega did for their replicas.

Ruien 11-12-2016 10:14 PM

I don't understand why they didn't just add 100 games. It's not like they take up much space anymore for these tiny games. Then you take the console up to 100 dollars.

Fignuts 11-13-2016 01:23 AM

Yeah, you could easily t the entire NES library several times over with the storage capacity it has now.

Ruien 11-13-2016 03:23 PM

On the flip side, this Black Friday is going to be amazing. Fallout 4 (yes I never bought it) for $20.00. Skyrim's newedition is $25.00. Same for Gears of War 4. Dark Souls 3 for $20.00 too. And that is just what I seen so far.

EVE is finally free-to-play. But I'm pretty sure there's a lot of real world money still being shuttled around. I wonder if the economist-on-call still has a job?

Side note, haven't gotten too deep into EVE: Valkyrie, but I like what I'm seeing in VR.

Its not horrible, just worse models. They can't do eyes, hair or facial animation.

Kalyx triaD 11-19-2016 09:17 PM

The problem is we already hit the point where games really don't need remaster releases since they still look good. They should stop at upping the rez or adjusting the aspect but there's some crazy habit of trying to pimp newer tech on these games. And this is how the FFX remaster looks worse than the original.

Some efforts work; like Nintendo does not fuck around with HD remasters. Some are pointless, like the recent Gears trilogy. But the worst case scenario are tryhard devs playing with games they themselves have no idea what the charms were.

Ruien 11-19-2016 10:22 PM

Never understood why people bought remastered games honestly. You are basically buying the same game twice but it looks a little prettier.
