El Vaquero de Infierno 07-24-2019 05:09 PM

Love me some Jessica Chastain, and Amy Adams for that matter.

They're on a lower rung with people like Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams.
Above them are Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, Charlize Theron... people that stretch without stretching.

Seanny One Ball 07-24-2019 05:32 PM

I would say Emily Blunt, Elizabeth Olsen, and Michelle Monaghan need to get with new agents and have them make a bunch of indies because they are all better than they currently are doing. I realise money is more appealing but it can cost them prestige in the long run.

RP 07-24-2019 05:55 PM

If we're talking best of All-time, then you gotta mention Jessica Alba.

As far as men go, It doesnt get much better than Gerard Butler in Geostorm.

I think you gotta put Oprah up there with Regina King and Millie Bobbie Brown as one of the best black actresses in the world.

slik 07-24-2019 07:22 PM

Toni Collette also a top notch actress and one of my favorites

slik 07-24-2019 07:23 PM

She should have been nominated for this movie

Isabelle Huppert 'such a bad actress' she is the most nominated actress for French equivalent of Oscars, the Cesar Awards and most nominated actress for French equivalent of Tony's, The Moliere Awards..has won Best Actress at Cannes at few times...nominated for Oscar as well...

Feel like SOB 'hates her' for no reason w/o having seen lots of her work...

slik 07-24-2019 07:31 PM

The Piano Teacher and Ma Mere both really good (but super fucked up, especially Ma Mere) movies she is in...

...anyways

Seanny One Ball 07-24-2019 07:31 PM

Toni Collette is up with Charlize and Emma Stone, she's one of the most consistent over the last 25 years. To think it all started with Muriel's Wedding. What a film that was, absolutely bonkers.

slik 07-24-2019 07:34 PM

Emma Stone sort of reminds me of Anne Hathaway, not bad or anything, but overrated....like Emma Stone more than Anne Hathaway tho...Hathaway super annoying

slik 07-24-2019 07:36 PM

I think Jessica Chastain is good but also like when Grace Randolph 'verbally destroys her' on a regular basis in reviews

slik 07-24-2019 07:38 PM

Agreed on Charlize always being good

slik 07-24-2019 07:38 PM

Amy Adams good too...really good in Sharp Objects

slik 07-24-2019 07:39 PM

Nicole Kidman definitely one of my favorite actresses...Nicole can go toe 2 toe with anyone in acting scenes...her and Meryl scenes top notch in Big Little Lies...

slik 07-24-2019 07:39 PM

Zendaya 'has potential' to be a top actress one day IMO...so amazing in EUPHORIA

slik 07-24-2019 07:40 PM

Paul Dano and Joaquin Phoenix both top notch actors

This is an unnecessarily defensive post.
I haven't seen most films by most actors, Slik. Neither have you. There are too many.
That is no cause for casting aspersions or putting words in my mouth.

Seanny One Ball 07-24-2019 07:45 PM

Nicole Kidman is the very definition of over rated. She picks the wrong projects time and time again, even John Cusack made her look mediocre and he is fairly dreadful.

slik 07-24-2019 07:48 PM

Meryl so damn good in this scene...

Dano needs to stretch himself further to be on the Phoenix level but he's getting there. If he could play one or two non-neurotic characters he would prove a lot.

Seanny One Ball 07-24-2019 07:52 PM

Funny to think he and Emile Hirsch were in The Girl Next Door as teens and now they're both indie darlings. I think Emile Hirsch is magnificent, just wish he'd behave himself in real life.

slik 07-24-2019 07:55 PM

Agreed on Hirsch

RP 07-24-2019 07:58 PM

Zendaya's work in Zapped was one of the best performances we've seen in the 21st century.

My only real complaint with Chastain is her sour face in every role for the last 8 or so years. Not a sign of good range, a sign of too much comfort. Not sure who Grace Randolph is but google was not kind to her.

Don't forget former WWE Superstar, Luther Reigns.

RP 07-24-2019 08:22 PM

Dont sleep on Melissa Joan Hart.

Saw the pilot and I'm interested to see the rest of the show even though I can probably guess where its headed, which characters are Mary Sues and how it being visually striking will likely be one of the few redeeming qualities.

Zendaya is the future of entertainment. Multicultural for the sake of multiculturalism, bland and without nuance.

Frank Drebin 07-24-2019 08:53 PM

Kids these days have it so hard with their cell phones, social media and multiple sex organs.

GD 07-24-2019 09:34 PM

Do you know how hard it is for a woman to get a bikini wax just because they have a penis? :smh:

Frank Drebin 07-24-2019 10:18 PM

Why are you assuming someone with a penis wants to identify as a woman, Dave, you fucking racist?

GD 07-24-2019 10:36 PM

I can't help but indulge my cisgendered oppressive tendencies.

Destor 07-24-2019 10:46 PM

Zedaya is one note. She plays that note ok at best.

slik 07-25-2019 01:45 AM

Not at all, she just hasn't done as much yet

SPOILER: show

Destor 07-25-2019 09:05 AM

maybe as she gets more roles she will learn a second facial expression

RP 07-25-2019 01:42 PM

she'll need a tittie upgrade too.

Fignuts 07-25-2019 07:37 PM

The Perfection- 6/10

Pretty fun watch. First twist hooked me really good. Second one I could see coming a mile away. One of those movies that tries a little too hard to be clever.

I think I liked it a lot more.
