Agreed.

Just thinking about the booking. It's still all up in the air what they're going to do. I imagine that Rollins and Reigns are both going to want to pull Triple H's punk card right away. It would actually make sense for Triple H to get them both to fight in a #1 Contender's Match at Clash of Champions, or for the right to face him or something. Gallows & Anderson do run in during that match, which sets up a Hell in a Cell between those two at that PPV the next month.
It'd make sense if it were for the Tag Titles, but I can actually see them keeping this incredibly long New Day run going. New Day vs. Enzo & Cass at Hell in a Cell, for example, would be pretty nice. Sami Zayn would make a pretty good immediate challenger to Kevin Owens. They can have their rubber match for the Universal Title at Clash of Champions. Maybe make that 2/3 Falls, since they like their PPVs going long and can use that to fill time. Zayn can get a fall in there, which might be enough credibility to stretch things out until Hell in a Cell. |

WWE messed up their best shot at getting the next "guy" by A. Pushing Ryback too hard, too fast and B. Not going all in when they did A.

He continually gets it, no mater how many times and ways he re-explains what he said about Steen he gets people who "rub it in" anytime Steen does something of note in WWE. It isn't really helped by Kevin either, who will take a shot at Jim, and then flare shit up again (work or shoot is debatable, Steen might really feel that way, or he might be doing it for the reaction, who knows). People still shit on him about the Sami Zayn thing too: where he basically said he has all the tool to get over if he loses the mask and ditches the comedy spots. Lo and behold, he got the fuck over in NXT without a mask and keeping the funny stuff relegated to untelevised house shows, and even at a minimum there. The flipside, though, is his issue with The Elite and Joey Ryan (which essentially is the same problem he had with El Generico). On one hand, he has a huge point in things like a superkick being a finisher- the end of a match from any other spot on the card- but then Young Bucks do 800 of them per match, and another 300 in tandem, and they roll right into more spots. On the other, it works for them, they're over because of it, people pay for and expect to see that from a YB match, and it isn't like kayfabe isn't alive and well and they have to pretend their shit is super devistating. Joey Ryan is basically filling a niche, and is pretty successful at it much like The Young Bucks, so who gives a fuck that he won a test of strength with his cock? Not anyone watching a Joey Ryan match, because that's par for the course like watching Sandman club a bunch of people with a kendo stick whilst drinking beers. And his problem with Kenny seems to stem from thinking his facials are "too much" and going back to the matchs he had years ago with the blow up doll and the little girl. Makes sense he thinks that is hokey, but at the same time, some people embrace the hokey. Wrestling isn't always SFB, and sometimes TOO MUCH seriousness can kill a match, or a show, or an angle, or a character. Yes, he can take shit too seriously, but it doesn't stop him from having a point. And *usually*, his point is pretty spot on... until people stop listening or take it out of context. I still shake my head at the Nash YouShoot, where they play back everything Corny said, but without a) the context of the entire story of having to teach Kane to be Diesel, and b) the part five seconds after the end of the part they played back for Kev where he specifically says that he isn't knocking Nash, but reiterating his moveset was pretty limited. Without any of that, it sounds like he is just shitting on the guy for no reason, especially how Corny talks. |

It's good, but I feel that when it comes to the themes the WWE uploaded to YouTube today, Jinder's theme is the best one.

I'd start RAW this week with the Kevin Owens promo of all Kevin Owens promos. I want to hear what he really has to say about winning the Universal Title. Rollins gets in his face and security hits the ring and holds back Rollins. Owens casually looks at him, then nails him with a superkick. What a hot start that would be.

Feels like they shouldn't put him on the mic in the US or something, "takes away" from him imho <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/couMb2YO3Xw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Believe its a lot closer to sports athletes than wrestlers in regards to promo style in Japan. They treat it a lot more sports-like with media interviews and post-match speeches than in the US.

No, what bugs me is that it seems, when he pics up a mic that human speech is painful to him. Never heard him speak natively, but for some reason I imagine him promoing similarly in Japanese. He looks a lot weirder than he sounds. |

I've probably said this before, but Asuka's theme song is sooooooo fucking boss. Dig it the most. :y:
Also, fuck The Young Bucks. Spot monkey dip shits who look allergic to the gym. They are clearly gifted athletes, but all of their matches feel like they're just making fun of professional wrestling, and all of the Bullet Club mannerisms and such are BLATANT nWo ripoffs. Also, they make the superkick look completely pointless. Fuck those guys. |
Theme is great cause it doesn't scream this music is for somebody from Japan. As good as Shinsukes and Itamis are they are pretty stereotypical.

|
The SmackDown tag tournament is a weird piece of business. All the teams that have advanced are babyfaces. The team that knocks out Slater & Rhyno is going to get booed. I have no clue why The Alpha Models aren't still in this tournament to go against Rhyno & Slater.
My guess is that The Usos beat American Alpha and then Rhyno & Slater beat The HB; they lose to The Usos; the WWE is confused as to why Jimmy & Jey are getting boos and then Rhyno spends the next few weeks visiting Slater at his house and petitioning for him to be given a contract. |
I get the feeling that the final will be American Alpha vs Slater & Rhyno.
Who wins, I don't know. Before Slater and Rhyno entered the tournament, I was 100% sure American Alpha would go all the way and win, but once Slater & Rhyno entered the tournament, all that changed. |
Hmm. I think that would be counterproductive to Alpha. They were initially my pick to win the entire thing, but they've been pretty cold on SmackDown since debuting. They've been given none of the charm of their NXT run. As a result, I feel that pushing them as this undefeated super-force is just going to backfire. I see them getting more of a "journey" to the belts (WrestleMania next year).
The problem is, I can see the crowd being soooo into Slater & Rhyno at Backlash that whoever they go against is going to get booed. The Usos take less of a hit in that situation, since the Roman Reigns stank got them booed anyway. By putting the belts on Jimmy & Jey, you can also guarantee The Rock will tweet something out about it, and they'll get former champs breathing some cred into the new set of belts. I imagine that they'll then drop them to Harper & Rowan (if the plan is to put them back together as a tag team, which would definitely be the best thing for Rowan), and then Alpha win them from The Reapers at Mania (probably in a match also involving The Usos and possibly a team like The Revival, Breezango or even Slater & Rhyno). |
If Slater and Rhyno wins, the locker room better pile out for the celebrations and Slater cuts a promo saying he did it for all his children. Then he starts listing like 20+ kids.
Also feels like one of the tag teams remaining is going to turn heel. Usos would make the most sense out of the 4 remaining. |
The problem with Slater & Rhyno as Tag Champs is that no one will take them seriously. They are fun, but Slater still has a long way to go before you can consider him credible. If they make it to the finals they show something, but Slater doesn't have that contract, which means his free agent stuff can keep going. Once he gets a contract his gimmick is different.
|
Quote:
I do see them getting booed, but I see them as the John Cena/Roman Reigns team of the division. It'd fit their natural reactions to turn heel, but they won't pull the trigger. |
Wouldn't take much to turn them since they've already thrown some subtle hints at being upset Reigns caused them to get booed by crowds and Alphas basically supplanted them as the top team of the brand. The head writer of Smackdown has shown several times in the past he's willing to change plans when things don't work or are needed.
Them turning heel gives the division more heels since on paper the champs are guaranteed to be faces. Right now its a 4-3 split in favor of faces for the division. Also they'd be a more effective turn than if it was the Hype Bros or Slater/Rhyno instead. Could either turn them during the Alphas match with the idea of them being the tag champs or afterwards as part of a resentment/jealously type turn. |
They could do it, I'm just not feeling that they will. I imagine Dolph is turning pretty soon, and I can honestly see them going back to babyface Bray too. If the division stayed exactly as it is now, I do agree that they need some heel teams, but I don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility to see Harper & Rowan back as a monster team, and they are going to need to be fed face teams. It'd be insane for The Revival to not be put with Alpha on the main roster too. I think that's where the heels are going to come from.
|
So what are Enzo & Cass going to do at Clash of Champions? The title matches seem pretty set, but is it Roman Reigns or Big Cass that challenges Rusev? If Enzo & Cass are free, who do they face?
And also, what the fuck is going on with Darren Young & Titus O'Neil's program? It's not just me that thinks they're drowning out there, right? How about the next time they fight, you send Mark Henry & Jack Swagger out there to beat the piss out of them? They're technically a tag team, but for some reason they are cast as faces despite being the largest team on the roster. As heels they can just be pro-American shit-kickers. They can chew up The Prime Time Players and then move on to Enzo & Cass at CoC? |
Would be interesting to see John Cena vs. Baron Corbin at Backlash. The crowd reaction will be hilarious, but Cena is the sort of guy to really gauge how Corbin does as a WWE-style main event level talent. Corbin's stock goes up in the eye of the few casual fans that watch if he hangs with Cena, and it'd be a good way to bounce Cena back before he goes after Styles again.
|
Quote:
And yeah this Young/Titus feud is a fucking abortion. |
I go back and forth on Swagger. On one hand, I really want to like him; but on the other hand, there's a part of me that thinks reminding people he is a former World Heavyweight Champion is a bad idea. But why keep him employed when you don't even use him at all? At least a Swagger/Henry monster team serves some sort of purpose.
|
Since when are Mark Henry and Jack Swagger a tag team?
|
They've teamed on-and-off since the Royal Rumble.
|
I think they've won a few matches on Superstars.
