Apparently Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa will be getting a tag team name soon.
Project Glorious. |
James Storm is also saying that he is done with TNA. BEER! MONEY! vs. Project Wrestling.

Although a "TNA Outsiders" faction with Roode, Joe, Storm & Aries would be very intriguing if done correctly (which it probably wouldn't be) |
I'm actually gutted that all these TNA guys are finally making it into WWE so late in their careers. I mean, they probably wouldn't have the name value that they have now if they'd come sooner, but most of them are pushing or past 40. Can't see WWE investing too much in them outside of NXT. Which is great for NXT and helps gives it credibility, but God I'd love to see guys like Roode, Aries, Young and Joe compete on Raw, Smackdown and PPV's.

Bobby Roode: Hello Austin Aries!
Johnny Gargano: Umm. I'm not A--- Roody: Dirty Heels Reunited at at last! Gargano: ....Glorious. |

I think James Storm is a great tag team wrestler and should be used as such. Find a good young talent in NXT and see if Storm can create a other great tag team. |

I hate that Curt Hawkins facts are just Chuck Norris jokes that were mildly funny in 2007
|
There might actually be some Matt Facts in there too.

Too many white midgets at Summerslam. You know what will get people to pay $9.99/month to watch them fight? If this guy came out to beat them up.

SPOILER: show |
That's Enzo? Looks way different.

I was actually cringing as I watched it and was thinking "what the fuck is this?". I actually found it a bit funny, but funny as in "it's so bad, it's funny". I just got flashbacks to The Boogeyman, but the difference between the two is that the whole Boogeyman character was just a piss-take, really. The character was to be entertaining, humorous and not to be taken seriously at all, and it worked. This whole Demon <s>Kane</s> King thing is supposed to be viewed as being a legitimate threat to Rollins and judging by Rollins' reaction, scary? I really can't take the character seriously and Bálor's facial expressions and movements just added to the lameness of the gimmick. I don't know what's so scary and intimidating about an Irishman crawling around the place with toilet paper in his hair and Venom painted on his chest. If anything, the whole Demon King thing just makes Finn Bálor come across as mentally unstable, but not in the "cool Dean Ambrose" way, but in a way where if you saw someone acting like that, you would genuinely be worried about their health and safety and would try to get them admitted to some sort of mental hospital. |

So it was just the Balor segment then?
Wrestling has always had those kinda "characters" though..... no different really. The Demon King, as a gimmick, is great. I'm sure, if WWE paid, he could still do his Venom/Joker/Hannibal-type entrances he became known for, but he can't. It is all meant to be a "spectacle" so maybe you are just "growing up" and don't find it entertaining anymore? To each their own, hairy muff and all that. |

I'm getting old. :'( |
To be fair though, it was the first time I had ever seen it.
So for all I know, it may grow on me like the name "Universal Championship" did. At first I hated it but now, I don't. |
Gawker has ceased operations. The Big Boot and the Legdrop on to them.
|
Didn't another company buy it?
I read somewhere that Gawker was sold to another company and that pretty much nothing would change with the website when it came to content, staff etc. |

He only does it for PPV matches, at least in NXT. He came out with a chainsaw @ Takeover Dallas which was fun. Love a good chainsaw winding up. He did a Jack the Ripper type entrance with it @ London. If you haven't seen his days as Prince Devitt in the UK, you should check it out. Pretty cool stuff. |
I don't mind Balor painting himself up. The way the WWE have presented it is lame as fuck though.
|
Curt Hawkins' facts make me hate the WWE writers. Quit and go write for Two Broke Girls.
|
Balor does come off goofy if the first time seeing or hearing about his demon persona is just from the way RAW did it. On NXT, they handled the build up and mystic a lot better.
Been a real issue with a lot of the call-ups where the WWE flat out doesn't want to spend time needed to tweak or rebuild call-ups so they fit well with the new main roster audiences. They rushed Balor into the spotlight due to the draft thinning out RAW's star and then rushed everything about his character because of laziness and/or assume everyone already watches NXT. |
The good news for Finn Balor is that Vince and Kevin Dunn are obviously behind him. This is bad news, critically, for Balor; but his pockets won't be empty.
|
I'm actually hoping The Miz keeps the IC Title through SummerSlam.
|
I'm curious as to see what they do with the Universal Title at SummerSlam. There are a few avenues they could take:
* They might go all-in with Balor winning the belt cleanly. A new era, a new champion for that era. It's a morale booster for those toiling in NXT too. Rollins has already had his moments and is cemented as a main eventer in the eyes of management. Him losing "makes" Balor in their eyes. Expect the Balor toys to be rolled out and Balor to be shoved down throats as the new John Cena/Roman Reigns type project. * Balor wins the belt with help from The Club. They already have The Balor Club licensed and merchandised. This seems like the obvious decision from a marketing standpoint. This accomplishes the "new champion" agenda of the first scenario, but it also creates a new top heel (something they arguably need) and it turns Seth Rollins babyface. The benefits to a face Rollins are pretty obvious: People seem to want to cheer him, he's had his run as the lead villain, his merchandise is already in stores, etc. Rollins is arguably mature enough as a performer to handle being a top babyface with nuance at this point. * Seth Rollins wins the Universal Title, probably with help from The Club, continuing the main story thread of him being the top heel of the brand. As an established main eventer, he's a good choice to "install" a championship. He's done that before with the NXT Championship, but that actually helps the Universal Title by drawing a parallel between them. Balor being screwed out of the belt by his friends would set him up as the new top babyface relatively smoothly, but also give him a chase. Truth be told, the more I think about it, the more I think that the best creative decision would actually be to pull the trigger on The Balor Club. It's probably the best from a money point of view, it allows Rollins to become more important while also putting Balor center-stage in an arguably "easier" role. The angle does pretty much write itself. Having Roman Reigns floating around the main event in this context works too, as Rollins is going to need fire-power, and he's isolated everybody on the roster. Rollins & Reigns would be one man down, but that makes people think about Dean Ambrose and could encourage them to watch SmackDown. Yes, Balor winning the Universal Title helps SmackDown and creates a new major babyface slot for someone to take -- whether that be someone already on the roster, like Sami Zayn or Cesaro, or someone from NXT, like Shinsuke Nakamura. |

Jesus fucking Christ it is legitimately sad how fat Chris Hero has gotten. Every fucking time I see the guy he is in worse and worse shape. |
Chris Hero is literally in the same physical shape I'm in. He's as fat as me.
|
Yeah. I've stopped watching and I'm going to cancel my WWE Network sub now that football season has started up. I'm going to be too busy enjoying football until after the season ends right around Rumble and through WM season. Then hockey playoffs will be getting started and I'll be cancelling again until after that up until football season starts again. I just can't bring myself to give WWE the $ and privilege of my sub for the older shows and the few new things I like on the network when I've got so much other things to watch during football season and hockey playoffs.
|
Finn Balors Demon King is unreal.
|
Chris Hero is fat, but one of the best wrestlers in the world.
|
Yeah, that video is pretty shocking how he's physically let himself go. But he still seems pretty athletic and more than capable in the ring.
|
Balor's demon gimmick is cool and it's worked for a long time but turning it into the demon king has tainted it though. Makes it seem less...cool, more King of Kane.

I had read he had some sort of thyroid issue which could be a contributing factor in the weight gain. But he must also just be eating like shit, because between wrestling and hitting the gym for weight training you shouldn't end up looking like that unless your diet is fucked. |
Lol at everyone saying Demon Balor is dumb. If so:
-Undertaker was supposed to be a zombie. Later his manager was named Paul Bearer. That's fn stupid, right? -Ultimate Warrior was insane and made no sense. Totally embarrassing to be watching wrestling, right? -Macho Man was just the annoying guy at the gym if we ever went to one. Stupid. -I'm supposed to believe the Big Boss Man is an actual cop and the Mountie really was Canadian Police? OMG how dumb. -WTF are these Road Warrior guys with their face paint?? Total ripoff. Lame. -HHH is a "blue blood?" Gay. -Yokozuna is a Samoan. Duh. Can't believe they expect me to think he's a sumo wrestler. Gtfo. -IRS is a wrestler, not a tax attorney. Pfft not believable. -Now Undertaker has a brother who's from hell? What's with that mask? He's obvs fine. Can't get into that because no one in my office is like that. So embarrassing. |

but i dont give a shit what demon king is supposed to be (btw is he really supposed to be a demon?) i just think he looks stupid and moves stupid. and that is all. |
No one's actually calling the Demon dumb I don't think. It was just dumb they way they did it Monday night. Like I said it wasn't the first time I'd seen the Demon but it was the first time I thought it looked stupid. Someone else said this also but it felt like The Boogyman. I just don't think it was needed for Raw and should have just been held off for Summerslam when it made sense.
|
Don't like the name Demon King. Too close to Demon Kane. Just the Demon. This is why names matter Anybody Thrilla.
|
He was just the Demon in NXT right? I skip around but I don't ever remember hearing Demon King.
|
He was just the Demon in NXT, yeah
|
huh, according to wiki balor is gaelic for 'demon king'
|
If the issue is them just having him show up for a promo on Raw and not holding it off until the ppv, I'm 100% in agreement. They did it to present this side of Balor to the masses who don't watch NxT. I don't like it, but that's why.

I want Rollins to paint himself up as Crossfit Jesus and write down all the workouts on himself

I really don't watch much on the WWE Network anymore. I did at first, but that quickly stopped and most of the original content on the network really doesn't interest me. I'm only keeping my subscription as I can catch PPV's the next day and it works out cheaper than ordering it through my cable provider. It's just a shame I can't catch Raw or SmackDown the following day on the network. |
You can watch Raw & Smackdown the following day on Hulu. That's why.

The WWE really hasn't had that much luck with Hispanic talent, have they? I worry about Cien now, because it seems like he's destined to lose against Roode in Brooklyn. This is why ADR can hold up the WWE for so much money. |
Random prediction: We'll see Beth Phoenix at SummerSlam. Super mom. I think she'll be a good fit for the SmackDown brand.
|
lol that Cien shirt. "He's 100" isn't exactly inspiring.
|
Quote:
The "Cien" meaning of his name for that shirt only makes sense if he had a rich man gimmick or if they went something more supernatural since his last name of "Almas" means souls. |
So he could be the Hispanic Shang Tsung? That would rule.
|
I'm with noid. All those shirts are pretty base. The Cien shirt looks like a redesigned Sandow face. Like when there's a trade in sports and they show a traded player in his new uniform or hat even though he obviously hasn't worn it yet.
|
If you're going to have a 100, why would he not get attacked by The Perfect Ten? Where the hell has Dillinger been anyway? White hot as a jobber. You can do something with that.
|
Dillinger jobbed to Cien a couple times, and the fans chanted "He's 100"..... and they have turned the fan chant, which really is specifically directed at Tye Dillinger, and turned it into a shirt.

Rumor going around the net is Sasha might be among those getting busted next for the Wellness Policy.
Current betting odds for the Women's title match swung in such a drastic way it fueled speculation something recently happened within the WWE. Doesn't guarantee she's losing the title (or match itself) since there usually is at least 1-2 more waves of big bets left to happen. Most of the time when big swings happen, its usually several days away from the ppv like Ryder winning the IC title at Mania for recent examples. |

Something really has to catch my attention and make me interested for me to go out of my way and watch it. That's not just with the network, but with television in general. I rarely watch anything on television or online, with Raw and SmackDown really being the only things I watch regularly. I used to watch Countdown and some of Legends' House when the network became available here, and I do watch Austin and Jericho's podcasts but that depends on who their guests are, and I've wanted to give Edge & Christian's show a watch but I've never actually gotten around to it yet. |
