Finally watched the first episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch

These seem like the worst, least interesting characters to pick to focus a show around.

Fignuts 09-05-2021 01:30 PM

What we do in the shadows season 3

Hasn't lost a step

Seanny One Ball 09-05-2021 02:48 PM

It hasn’t even been advertised here yet but it’s already out.

Fucking hell no wonder everybody overlooks it.

Seanny One Ball 09-05-2021 06:56 PM

Watching WWDITS now.

It’s good to be back.

Seanny One Ball 09-05-2021 07:09 PM

There should be more British/American comedies. WWDITS plays off of misunderstandings so well, both generational and social.

Seanny One Ball 09-05-2021 07:15 PM

“I’ll wank my way, and you wank yours.”

Matt Berry is the only actor going who could give you that room to laugh.
Great shit.

Bad News Gertner 09-06-2021 12:04 AM

Crime and Penalites on Netflix. Watched the one on the Danbury Trashers. I knew the story but wow was it good

Seanny One Ball 09-06-2021 08:41 AM

Nearly finished Eastbound & Down. It’s funny but it has no relief to it. It’s celebrating an arsehole and his mistakes.

Seanny One Ball 09-06-2021 08:56 AM

I will give it the benefit of having depth though, there are moments that make you wonder about it all.
I particularly like the Guy Young stuff. It’s on the edge and very provocative. I can’t remember the last time a comedy show just went for it on a racial level. This show does it a lot. It looks and feels like real life.

It’s just more interesting than it is funny a lot of the time.

Seanny One Ball 09-08-2021 06:55 PM

Only Murders In The Building is good fun. A nice pace for performance to supplement actual jokes.

Seanny One Ball 09-08-2021 08:01 PM

This show is great so far. I laughed a lot at episode 3, the cast are excellent together and the premise is a tremendous way of sneaking in big unexpected laughs.

About to start s2 of Ted Lasso and s3 of Mayans MC

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-10-2021 05:29 PM

I just finished watching a series from the 1980s: The Jewel in the Crown. It is a great piece of television; the acting is slightly dated, as TV has moved on, but still, a fantastic story. It is set in India during WW2, so you have that and the rising nationalist movement and then partition as a back-drop, but the story revolves around the rape of an English woman and the torture and subsequent false imprisonment of her Indian lover, and how those events reverberate in the lives of a set of other characters, most of whom don't know or ever meet the woman or her lover. It also doesn't shy away from the prejudices and bigotry of the period, both between the English classes and between the colonials and the Indians, but not in the preachy or ham-fisted way that things are done these days. It is a series that does not come along very often; it is up there with Brideshead Revisited as far as rare quality 80s television goes.

Seanny One Ball 09-10-2021 05:53 PM

I looked it up because of that post and completely spoiled it for myself.

It looks pretty good though.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-10-2021 06:14 PM

It is so good. Makes me want to investigate 80s television further and see what quality shows I've never seen. A couple of shows I came across that I'm going to check out are Edge of Darkness and A Very British Coup.

Seanny One Ball 09-10-2021 06:24 PM

Edge Of Darkness is one that is apparently top drawer and I’ve debated watching it before. I saw the Mel Gibson film but it wasn’t up to much. I’ll see if I can find it online.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-10-2021 06:46 PM

Edge of Darkness is on Amazon; can buy it for £5.99. Depending on how much food money I have unspent next Friday, I'll probably buy it.

I wouldn't mind watching the TV adaptation of Vera Brittain's Testament of Youth, from 1979, but it is not available online, at least I haven't seen it anywhere. The film with Alicia Vikander and Kit Harrington, from 2014/15, is just naff; no 2-hour film can do that book justice, as there is just too much to cover.

weather vane 09-11-2021 01:49 AM

Ted Lasso and Dave so good. So so so good.

XL 09-11-2021 04:59 AM

Finished up Your Honor (good stuff) and the final season of Modern Family (end of an era). Started on Criminal. It’s great so far. Amazing cast. I’m watching the UK version but there are German, Spanish, and French (I think) versions too that differ. Might check those out too.

Seanny One Ball 09-11-2021 07:37 AM

Ted Lasso season two is shite

Bad News Gertner 09-12-2021 11:38 PM

I finally finished the last season of the Office

Lock Jaw 09-13-2021 12:11 AM

Three episodes in to the new season/part of Money Heist/Casa de Papel.....

I kind of really miss when this show didn't have a huge budget....

Disagree.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-15-2021 05:02 PM

Just finished The White Queen, which is a 10-episode BBC series about the War of the Roses, from the perspectives of Elizabeth Grey, Margaret Beaufort, Anne Neville, and Elizabeth of York (learn your English history, you savages). It is pretty standard fare from the BBC; it suffers from me just having watched The Jewel in the Crown, which is awesome. Rebecca Ferguson does get her baps out on numerous occasions, though, so there is that.

I'm on to the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As much as I loved the series back in the diz-zay, the quality of the show dropped off immensely after season 3. I just want to get it finished at this point and move on to something else.

I'm also on to season 3 of my re-watch of 30 Rock.

Lock Jaw 09-16-2021 12:51 AM

Finished the five new episodes of Money Heist/Casa de Papel

Show is just straight up an action movie now I guess

GD 09-19-2021 06:43 PM

Blasted through Clickbait on Netflix. It was a’ight.

rez 09-20-2021 09:34 PM

Why is that Rosanne spinoff show still going and why would they still have that old ass couch? You can only reupholster Big Lots so many times.

rez 09-20-2021 09:35 PM

legendary particle wood that would have Ikea blush.

weather vane 09-24-2021 11:54 PM

Reservation Dogs awesome.

Damian Rey 2.0 09-25-2021 12:10 AM

What We Do in the Shadows. Fucking hilarious.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-25-2021 04:21 AM

I finished Buffy; I enjoyed the whole series, but it really did lose its mojo after season 3.

I'm coming to the end of season 3 of 30 Rock.

I'm half-way through Wolf Hall and I've just begun the fourth and final season of Goliath.

ron the dial 09-25-2021 06:34 PM

i thought midnight mass on netflix was very good. don't really care for hamish linklater in general but was able to get over it.

Frank Drebin 09-25-2021 08:10 PM

On episode 3 right now. A little slow but I'm fine with that if they flesh things out properly.

Frank Drebin 09-25-2021 08:52 PM

I need to know who poisoned the dog. I would go John McAfee on a mother fucker if I knew who poisoned my dog.

Frank Drebin 09-25-2021 08:53 PM

Maybe someone gets that reference. Hoping Ron does.

ron the dial 09-26-2021 12:15 AM

not a clue my friend
