Not sure about Spider-Man being on the team, though. I don't mind him being friends with them and maybe filling in for an interim position, but Spidey just works better as a solo guy to me.

Used to think so too, but the chemistry he has with his teamates on the avengers, has proven that he works great on a team.

Spidey dialogue has been one of the best parts of the past few avengers books, and I expect similar greatness from his interactions with the thing.

Fignuts 02-09-2011 08:42 PM

Hate anything with kids in it, and they have been featured prominently in ff for a while now, so I probably won't pick this up.

Fignuts 02-09-2011 08:43 PM

Speaking of avengers, if you are not reading Avengers, New Avengers, and Avengers Academy, then get off your ass. You're gonna want to read them. Especially Avengers.

dronepool 02-09-2011 09:29 PM

I read New Avengers, Avengers and Secret Avengers. Love all 3.

parkmania 02-09-2011 10:02 PM

Not really up on my Marvel continuity - any chance FF Spidey is Ben Reilly?

Then you really want to read that series. Something "special" happens to them.

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2011 10:06 PM

Where the hell is Reilly anyway?

Lock Jaw 02-09-2011 10:07 PM

Oh yeah, I remember now. (I have read that series)

He's been dead ever since the Clone Saga.

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2011 10:15 PM

Really? Damn.

parkmania 02-09-2011 10:22 PM

OK, then, if not Reilly, how about Anti-Venom? It's the right color scheme.

dronepool 02-09-2011 10:30 PM

It's Peter, 100%. Johnny and Pete were good friends. It does fit the Anti-Venom scheme but having Eddie and not Peter team with them makes no sense and don't forget Spider-Man does change outfits for different situations and I'm sure Reed Richards designed it for Peter, for whatever mission they need it for.

parkmania 02-09-2011 10:33 PM

Fair enough - I'm just trying to find an excuse for it NOT to be Peter.

dronepool 02-09-2011 10:57 PM

I don't mind though, actually even if he's on 3 teams+soloing, it's not all happening at once so I'm cool with it, plus remember Johnny's death was just the end of the first big chapter (out of 3) the writer has planned, so this isn't forever I think.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-09-2011 11:13 PM

Sorry, don't read FF. Why and how did Johnny die?

dronepool 02-10-2011 12:06 AM

The basics from Wiki-

In the "Three" storyline, concluding in Fantastic Four #587 (cover date March 2011, published January 26, 2011), the Human Torch apparently dies stopping a horde of monsters from the other dimensional Negative Zone. The series is scheduled to end with the following issue, #588, and relaunch in March 2011 as simply FF.

That honestly tugs at me. Good panels.

Fignuts 02-10-2011 02:14 AM

I read the issue Johnny dies. He goes out like a champ, and it's very well done. Though it should be noted, it doesn't actually show him dying. I can see him coming back a while from now.

Lifesize Venom bust. Pretty cool. Though if I'm gonna spend that kind of money I'd prolly get a different character.

Better than I expected to be honest. We shall see.

McLegend 02-10-2011 07:18 PM

So this movie is related to the 3 X-men movies?

Rammsteinmad 02-10-2011 07:23 PM

Doesn't look too terrible, but not really tingling with anticipation.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2011 08:05 PM

Gotta admit, looks watchable. Continuity gaffs still rub me wrong, I'll wait for more coverage.

This is a prequel?

First Class looks better than those dumb pics we had before.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2011 09:16 PM

The slow, heavy rock track that's all the rage with trailers these days helps a bit too.

parkmania 02-10-2011 11:21 PM

So, Angel has dragonfly wings instead of "angel" wings...

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2011 11:22 PM

But they should seriously call her Pixie.

So I finally went and wiki'd her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Salvadore .

I've still never heard of her, and am willing to bet that anyone with only casual knowledge of the X-Universe will join me in assuming a character named Angel will be a permutation of the Warren Worthington III character.

Rammsteinmad 02-11-2011 01:24 PM

Isn't she the one who had babies with Beak a few years back?

Edit: Decided not to be lazy and read the wikipedia page.

Nonsense.

Nothing is off limits as long as there is good writing behind it. Winter Soldier should have taught everyone that.

I like bold moves like this one. It shows that people aren't willing to put creativity aside for the sake of offending traditionalist thinkers. That is probably why I like Grant Morrison, because it defines his career.

Now that isn't to say I am going to automatically praise anything like this. In fact, the risk is great with this type of move, because it is either a huge success, or a huge failure. There is no inbetween.

That said, I know enough about judging a book by it's cover, and how many times I've been wrong in doing so in this industry, to know that it would be unwise to condemn it, before I even read the fucking thing.

Not like the lineup hasn't been messed with before. Even if it'll likely go back to the original status quo some day, what's the harm in trying something new?

Blah, blah, blah, wah! change, change!

Fantastic Four has been at it's best in years, this is just part of a greater scheme of things. As for Spider-Man replacing Johnny... uh hello? They were friends and Spider-Man was ALWAYS close to them. He's smart and powerful, very useful to the team. Don't like it? Read something else or there's always "classic" stuff out there. The goal here is to sell the book better than it has been doing and it needs an epic story, this is it. Keeping things stagnant and 'safe' for too long is never a good thing either.

It's not like this is permanent anyway, they have like 12 issues and then once sales start to lower, bam! time for issue 600 because FF is getting cut off after 588. Just enough to tell a year long story and start the third chapter with a reverted issue 600.

Don't worry I don't plan on reading it. I follow comics through Trades every so often and mostly through plot summaries. I still say those costumes are awful.

Isn't Spider-Man now a member of the Avengers, The New Avengers and the FF?

Fignuts 02-12-2011 06:24 PM

To be fair, the Fantastic Four has been a major part of the Marvel Universe for so long, it's not like they'll be this way forever. I give it a year, two at the most, before the Human Torch comes back somehow and the Future Foundation becomes the Fab 4 again.

A year at most, I doubt they'll skip a chance to have issue 600. Unless they ignore the new numbering for some reason and go back to 589.

LoDownM 02-13-2011 05:26 PM

Digging Spideys White/Black color scheme for this.

Reavant 02-13-2011 06:21 PM

he looks like antivenom now

HeartBreakMan2k 02-13-2011 07:49 PM

So, I haven't read the story - BUT is there any possibility his "death" could be leading into the big Fear event? Like, his fear is that the F4 don't need him, and move on blah blah blah, and their fear is his death? Again, not sure how recent it is, but if we never saw him die - is it feasible?

If it is, I'll pick up the trades...

Confused 02-18-2011 08:16 AM

I think the Thor movie is the one I'm going to enjoy the most this summer.

When the release schedule was originally set I thought that Green Lantern and Captain America would have caught my attention, but, I have to say, what I've seen of Thor has looked very good so far.

Probably a bit unfair on the other two till we see the final trailers though.

Like Kalyx said, me. :shifty:

It's basically a near indestructible suit of Asgardian armour. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it may be remote controlled. Never been that big on following Thor.

Fignuts 02-19-2011 03:50 PM

Not really remote controlled. Basically it needs someones spirit inside for it to activate.

Reavant 02-19-2011 03:58 PM

Loki is controlling it with his spirit

Reavant 02-19-2011 03:59 PM

at least in the comics

Fignuts 02-19-2011 04:07 PM

Well a lot of times it is loki behind it, but he often tricks other people into putting their spirits into it, not wanting to get his own hands dirty. Also, there have been plenty of times where it has been sif, odin, or baldur, or other "good" characters.
