Good news/Bad News about the GFW sponsored Wrestling Kingdom 9 event next year.

The good news is ROH wrestlers are being allowed to wrestle in the event and overall show time is getting cut back a bit to make it easier to watch.

The bad news is those ROH wrestlers and their matches won't be shown in the US feed and a lot of stuff might get cut to fit a 4 hour show. NJPW usually likes around 4.5 to 5 hours for their big ppvs events since it allows for some intermissions, bigger cards, and longer matches.

Quote:

The negative is the four-hour window. As anyone who watches New Japan shows knows, their big shows are usually four-and-a-half hours and Tokyo Domes closer to five hours. Given all the talent in the promotion, plus the pageantry with the long and elaborate entrances, they will have to cut back on match time to hit four hours, causing them to rush through prelims. Another question would be if they will break Japan tradition and run a show with no intermission, which at least would give them about 20 more minutes to work with, which they’ll need.
Quote:

Nothing is for sure, but we do know that Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and the ROH champion at the time were all earmarked for the show, which was to include both ROH and NWA title defenses, besides those of the Japanese belts.

The talent expected to be on the show from ROH was told that as things stood, they would still be on the show but their match would not air on PPV into the U.S., meaning the matches (believed to be two bouts although nothing is confirmed at press time for any ROH talent on the show) would be dark matches.

Anyone else remember when WWE PPVs used to have intermissions. Halfway through it would just cut to Gene Okerlund in a studio for 15 minutes to discuss what has happened and what's coming up? Or maybe it was just WrestleMania. I don't know. I definitely remember it though. Would be so odd today to just cut to a studio for 10 minutes mid-PPV.

VSG 11-06-2014 05:49 PM

They do go to the special panel with Booker T, Alex Riley and a few others sometimes during a PPV. Is that not the same thing, except shittier?

#1-norm-fan 11-06-2014 05:55 PM

Much shittier. Thankfully it isn't for 10-15 minutes like back then though. I don't know if I could handle 15 minutes of Alex Riley talking on my TV.

Anyway, I couldn't help but think that either Consequence made this song and it's supposed to be about The Wyatt's, or maybe he made this song with the hopes that it would get picked up by the WWE and they would want to buy it from him, just like they did with Mark Crozer.

The lyrics seem to fit the Wyatt's far too well for the latter to just be a "coincidence", and it also has a Legion Of Doom reference in it too.

I typed up the lyrics for anyone that's interested, though the lyrics are what I hear, as the lyrics that are online, come across as being pretty wrong to me and a lot also have question marks all over them, to show that whoever typed them up wasn't 100% sure of what they heard was correct.

It's a good song though. It's been in my head for a few days now.

Huge Maxine fan.... Behind Christian, I think Johnny Curtis and Maxine have to be way up there in wasted potential.

The running knee finish made him look more brutal and focused, but he's always had intensity when he's spoken.

I was thinking watching that match though: I wouldn't be opposed to seeing The Authority put Dolph Ziggler in an Intercontinental Title match at Survivor Series to soften him up. Use a loophole where he is obligated to defend the title or something. Ziggler and Axel can have a fifteen-minute match where Stephanie screws Dolph out of the title Montreal-style, and Axel gets a second run with the IC Title as Dolph has more reason to bring the fire in the main event.

Then I realised that would all work better with Tyson Kidd.

Whilst reading this the thought of having William Regal be a manager for Axel crossed my mind. Regal is now doing less on screen with NXT and is a fantastic mic worker.

I then had the idea that Christian could manage him. I've liked the idea of the former multi-time Tag Team Champion taking a young tag team under his wing, though.

The I realised that they already put Axel with the greatest manager alive today, and tried him in a tag team and neither really worked out.

Maybe he really is a lost cause.

How many times has Big Show been "viciously assaulted" this year? Just seems that every feud with him involves seeing him get completely destroyed "like never before".

GD 11-07-2014 02:07 AM

Remember when Cena said that he would never leave us and then goes ahead and shoots for Parks and Rec :wavesad:

Here's the thing with Big Show...

They've booked him like retards forever. He should be a bigger deal than he is. If they had overused the "OMG he's being beaten down like we've never seen him before!" with Andre, do you think he would have been remotely as big of a deal? No. It's ridiculous how careless they get with certain guys booking-wise. Show was getting GREAT reactions last year during that authority storyline. He was more over than I can remember him ever being because he was being booked as the guy the authority couldn't handle. Then the FIRST NIGHT he gets rehired... they have the authority beat the living shit out of him and show the world he's just another guy as opposed to a giant who can save the company from evil. And the Survivor Series main event instantly turns to shit. Ridiculous.

However, I was a ten-year-old mark at the time, so if a wrestler botched and the commentators tried to cover it up, I'd totally believe whatever they were saying. :o
