I agree. Her forehead puts Peyton Manning to shame

Fignuts 05-12-2019 05:55 AM

It's like her face is too small for her head.

Fignuts 05-12-2019 06:01 AM

About 20 minutes into Insidious: The Last Key, and it's fucking terrible. Feels like a straight to dvd piece of shit.

Dunno if I'm gonna make it.

slik 05-12-2019 06:10 AM

It gets worse.

Saying that as a big fan of the Insidious franchise. 4 was a disaster.

Fignuts 05-12-2019 06:12 AM

Lin Shaye's acting is fucking atrocious in this. Don't remember her being this bad in the other ones.

Fignuts 05-12-2019 06:15 AM

Yeah screw this.

Fignuts 05-12-2019 06:16 AM

Gonna read some creepypastas instead.

Give them a go.

I've had a look at some of his films on IMDB, and I get the impression that your suggestion is a jibe towards me....:(

There are a couple, though, that I may take a look at.

Seanny One Ball 05-12-2019 11:01 AM

I like Peter Greenaway. Listen buddy, I may mock your musical tastes but movies are serious business.
Check out "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover", it's pretty intense but it's brilliant.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-12-2019 11:27 AM

I will keep an eye out for that film and The Baby of Macon becoming available on Prime Video, and watch those bastards.

There is a film of his about Rembrandt, Nightwatching, currently available on Prime, so I may check that out.

Seanny One Ball 05-12-2019 02:48 PM

He makes strange films.

I'm occasionally possessed by short term fits of obsession with the Tulse Looper project he created and then sort of abandoned. The footage from the three "films" is just nuts but his name comes up in his other films occasionally.

It's all very mysterious.

Someday I'll get right into it and figure out what he was playing at.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-12-2019 04:29 PM

The Fugitive 7/10

Man, this film screams "1990s." Standard fare, but upped a little by Tommy Lee Jones' presence.

Shit, is the 1990s vibe caused by it being released in the 90s?

Seanny One Ball 05-12-2019 08:47 PM

Not all films have distinct contemporary attributes. I get what he means, if you watch all of the Lethal Weapon films you get a consistently strong nostalgic glimpse through the 87-97 time period. Die Hard movies don't have that same quality despite covering more time because the music and the references don't really reflect anything besides John Mclain's peril. The third one does have some period relative storylines though, the outlandish chemical bomb and the frequent use of phone booths are a classic 90's throwback.
The hacker stuff in the fourth one was so dumb it belongs in the 90's...

They Shall Not Grow Old - 4 out of 5

Seanny One Ball 05-12-2019 11:54 PM

They should make an alternate history film where a cleaner prevents Alexander Fleming from discovering penicillin by tidying up after him properly.

They could call it "They Shall Not Grow Mould"

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-13-2019 11:17 AM

The Wife 8/10

A film carried by Glenn Close, though Jonathan Pryce was no slouch either.

ClockShot 05-13-2019 05:15 PM

A Private War - 4/5

Rosamund Pike should have been in the Oscars race.

Seanny One Ball 05-13-2019 05:54 PM

She'd never beat Pistorius

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-14-2019 03:40 PM

The Bookshop 6.5/10

A gentle, Sunday film, filled with subtly unpleasant people, but nothing much happens.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-15-2019 04:40 PM

Fast & Furious 8 6/10

Silly.

Droford 05-15-2019 04:57 PM

Vudu has John Wick 1 and 2 in 4k for $10 total with $5 off ticket to 3. Never had seen the first two so it seems like a good deal for the 4k versions.

John Wick - 7/10 I kinda felt like it was just average. Wouldnt have really been excited about seeing a sequel if I had seen it when it came out. Nothing great about the acting, the fight sequences were over the top of course but it didnt feel much beyond guy guys crazy revenge killing spree over murdered dog and stolen car which is flimsy even with him being a top hitman out of the game. But knowing theres a 2nd (and 3rd, and 4th) movie Im a little bit interested in that but its kinda unfair in the review of the original.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile-6/10

Number one, that movie title is a poor choice. Secondly, you watch the movie from a spectator/the girlfriend's pov, which really kills the flow of the movie. Zac Efron is really good as Bundy, being a charming, charismatic, likeable guy in the same vein Bundy was described and came off in interviews.

However, because we get the movie from a 3rd person's pov who is watching everything from afar, the whole film comes off as more of an overview and feelslike we're watching a collection of newspaper clippings rather than a docudrama.

Had they made Ted the main character and focused on his narrative, I think the film would've been far more gripping and better executed. The Ted Bundy tapes doc on Netflix us far better because it's actually about Bundy.

Meh. Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey was good, even tho he came off like a caricature. It was essentially a puff peace on Robinson's first 2 years. His internal and emotional struggle wasn't delved into much. His impact on society and US culture was barely if at all mentioned. And while there some good moments all around, this didn't feel like the kind of movie someone as important to society as Robinson was deserved.

Trying to get through "Synecdoche, New York" and it is tough going...

This is probably the most pretentious film I have ever seen. I don't mind grand standing when it comes to something but this is just that old trick of putting one mirror facing towards another one and seeing infinity so far.

I hope it pulls together in the next half hour or it's going in the pile of films which I keep as a reminder never to trust reviews.

Synecdoche sort of reminds me of "Filth" the film from a few years back... intelligent but cluttered and unappealing with some of the strongest performances ever seen in a disappointing film.

Seanny One Ball 05-16-2019 04:16 PM

Nope... there's no saving it.

Charlie Kaufman must worry about death a lot. I do, so I think I'm going to stop watching his films.

John Wick 3- 10/10

Easily the best movie of the series. Action scenes were great. There were some moments that were done that you could see as a reference to the Matrix movies. Very well done movie.

Droford 05-17-2019 11:51 PM

John Wick 2 8/10 better than the first although apparently there's no need for storyline although the ending set up 3 absolutely perfect and I'm hoping to see it Monday after I get needles jammed in my arm all morning

Damian Rey 2.0 05-18-2019 12:35 PM

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu-6/10

Fun premise. Has a couple of nice emotional beats. The Pokemon are fun to see in a live action movie. The villain is whatever and twist is seen a mile away. But it was a decently fun and enjoyable ride. I'm sure the kids will love it.

Destor 05-22-2019 12:18 AM

Mule: 6/10

Perfectly fine film. No major critique. Film was just flat. Eastwood rarely misses as a director but this film just didn't resonate.

Seanny One Ball 05-23-2019 10:57 AM

Picked up some films today:

Tokyo Gore Police
Yakuza Apocalypse
Visitor Q
Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance

I like Takashi Mike, the dude is nuts.

Unfortunately I spent a long time trying to find Mob Psycho 100 but I reckon I might as well order it online.

Lock Jaw 05-23-2019 01:44 PM

Pretty sure I saw that Mr Vengeance one....

Seanny One Ball 05-23-2019 02:45 PM

It's by Park Chan-Wook the director of Oldboy, part of the Vengeance trilogy. I tried to find Mrs Vengeance but it wasn't in.
Still, a good find.

Sixx 05-23-2019 02:50 PM

fuck japs

Sixx 05-23-2019 02:52 PM

their movies are confusing cause they all look the same

pretty sure i've sen you in one, Lock Jaw.
