The Remains Of The Day is their best work in my opinion. I like how buttoned up and restrained Hopkins is.

GD 03-15-2019 02:06 AM

Paddleton - 7/10

Ray Romano was really good.

I'm on a early 1990s Emma Thompson kick at the mo, but I may watch more Merchant Ivory films.

I'll be watching Sense and Sensibility on Sunday.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-15-2019 12:26 PM

Triple Frontier 6.5/10

GD 03-16-2019 04:46 AM

Saw Captain Marvel again. Enjoyed it more. Still feel Larson was flat.

Lock Jaw 03-17-2019 02:00 AM

Tremors: 7.5/10
Termors II: Aftershock: 7/10
Tremors 3: Back to Perfection: 6.5/10
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins: 6/10
Tremors 5: Bloodlines: 5/10
Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell: 5/10

Apollo 11 -- 7/10

Great restored footage of the crowds and people gathering to watch Apollo 11 and inside the control room/takeoff. Really gives the most accurate look at people alive at the time in that sense, than anything else. Space shots all things you've seen before. A good look at Apollo 11 from liftoff to return home.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-17-2019 09:18 AM

Girl with a Pearl Earring 7/10

Frank Drebin 03-17-2019 10:48 AM

Captain Marvel.

6/10. Meh

Black Widow 03-17-2019 04:56 PM

Hell or High Water was really good.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-17-2019 05:19 PM

Sense and Sensibility 7.8/10

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-17-2019 05:45 PM

I want to watch the Kenneth Branagh/Emma Thompson version of Much Ado About Nothing, but neither Amazon, Netflix or Google Play (the UK websites) have it available to stream.

LOL come on man there is a big difference between Tremors, and ALL of the sequels, which as you pointed out do get worse and worse. It's more like 7.5/8ish for the first one and then II has to be like 5.5 and then the rest are at least 4 at most. That first one is so good though.

Wow random, I have it on DVD.

It wasn't a masterpiece or anything.... Was a good fun average movie, then the second was also a good fun average movie, then 3 on were still fun enough movies, but increasingly slipped below average.

Seanny One Ball 03-19-2019 06:21 PM

I think Jordan X knows how you feel about Tremors a bit better than you do mate.

Lock Jaw 03-19-2019 06:22 PM

DAMN.

Get out my head, bro

Seanny One Ball 03-19-2019 06:34 PM

You know who I like in Tremors? The annoying asshole kid that returns in the third or fourth one. He was great.

Sabrina Spellman's teacher is in one of them, she's Bert's sister IRL.
The girl from Jurassic Park is too.

Seanny One Ball 03-19-2019 06:38 PM

All of those people are in the third one. Back To Perfection was the last one I still liked. The fourth was bad. Never saw 5 or 6 because I bought the quadrilogy boxset like a jerk.

Lock Jaw 03-19-2019 06:39 PM

The girl from Jurassic Park comes back in the 3rd one too, and they do a whole rip off of the hiding from the raptors in the kitchen scene.

Lock Jaw 03-19-2019 06:41 PM

The 4th one started off rrrreal slow, but eventually I got into it more

I fell asleep twice trying to watch it on separate occasions.

Lock Jaw 03-19-2019 06:42 PM

The 5th and 6th ones.... very much feels like they were made "just because", and have absolutely "nothing to add". Fine as "mindless background movies" at best.

That's a good flick...I played Don John in a college of production of Much Ado About Nothing and watched this for the first time before that.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-20-2019 12:44 PM

I remember seeing part of it some 20 years ago, but only about 15 mins. I might buy it on the cheap on DVD later in April.

Seanny One Ball 03-20-2019 01:37 PM

The Matrix is now 20 years old. That's crazy.

Seanny One Ball 03-20-2019 01:41 PM

In 1999 Apocalypse Now had just turned 20 years old...

Apocalypse Now feels a lot older than that to me. The Matrix will almost certainly never feel old to me.

I am a husk.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-20-2019 02:01 PM

So old now, Seanny; nearly ready for the knacker's yard.

slik 03-21-2019 11:00 PM

Us - 8/10

It's good and strange and very different from 'Get Out'. Lots of neat scenes and good acting. But it was also very strange. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I'll definitely remember it though. I really wish that:

SPOILER: show

They would have explained more about the doubles and where they came from...they sort of loosely explain it, but without any significant depth.

GD 03-22-2019 12:47 AM

Us - 8/10

Really out there. Wasn't as straight forward as "Get Out". I found the ending to be a bit underwhelming.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-22-2019 12:15 PM

Mississippi Burning 7.5/10

I saw a bit of it, perhaps 15 years ago, but this was the first time all the way through.

GD 03-23-2019 02:06 AM

Saw The Terminator for the first time as an adult. The animatronics were something.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-23-2019 09:43 AM

Captain Marvel 7/10

I quite enjoyed it. I also felt it was superior to Wonder Woman.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-24-2019 09:17 AM

Our Kind of Traitor 6.5/10

Black Widow 03-24-2019 11:32 AM

The Dirt

Pretty good.

Fignuts 03-24-2019 04:43 PM

Who marathons the Tremors movies?

Seems bleak

Lock Jaw 03-24-2019 05:20 PM

Somehow even though I do not like or watch horror movies at all, I have been drawn into a "horror movie marathon club" with a few friends.... Tremors turned out to not really be horror movies, but it was put forward as one of the options because the one dude really likes the first movie, and I voted for it precisely because it didn't seem like horror....

Previous marathons we did all the Nightmare on Elm Street and all the Friday the 13th movies.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-24-2019 05:20 PM

A Room with a View 7/10

It has an understated barminess and charm to it, but the film did not entirely hold my attention.
