Malakai Black has been dealing with a serious back issue for the past year and up until 3 months ago he thought it might cause him to retire.

It's all better now apparently, but it might explain why he tends to go a while between matches which in turn might be why some of Malakai/House of Black stories tend to feel stop and start with lots of vignettes.

It might also explain why WWE cut him.

Black's NXT run was really great and would have been a money program on the main roster or AEW, if somebody would just push him as an actual main guy. He's really impressive athletically without constantly doing dives and he has "it" as much as anybody in AEW.

He got the famous AEW push already:

1. Surprise debut
2. Early wins
3. Form a stable
4. Nothing meaningful
5. Random fueds with no heat

Yeah, he really hasn’t been treated any different to anyone else when you think about it.

TK at it again. Tweeting about how if you miss Quake at the Lake it will be a regret you won’t forget. Which is a stupid tweet, but it’s also reminded people of the overhype surrounding this promotion. Some people are saying “he’s just being silly!” or “he’s just promoting!” but when you have a public profile this shit affects public opinion.

It’s really hard to think of a single person who has been spotlighted better in AEW than WWE.

I wish more people would consider the possibility that more wrestling =/= good. AEW and TNA actually reinforce the paradigm of WWE being able to do basically whatever they want. There should be an alternative that doesn’t have its youngest and brightest looking to jump ship.

I’m adamant that Jade not eat a pin. And I think for Hayder, the story is her chasing Britt, not the other way around. Maybe book a 3 way between Jade, Britt and Hayder, and that’s where you turn Britt on Hayder, who eats the pin.

Gets the belt off Jade without her getting pinned, gets a belt back in Britt, and starts a new storyline with a babyfaced Hayder chasing.

Stat being out again sucks. Felt like she was finding herself after getting rid of the alien gimmick.

Yeah, it was the best they could do given that the whole thing bombed. I don’t feel sorry for them because it was a stupid idea in the first place.

It wasn't the best they could have done.

Instead of just saying "Kenny can't rig explosives, haha" they should have done an angle where Omega investigated and found that his explosives were TAMPERED WITH, which would have started a months long storyline where he conducted investigations and would find clues leading him further and further down the rabbit hole of the conspiracy.... then it would have turned out to be HANGMAN ADAM PAGE all along, in some genius long-term booking. Page wanted to embarrass Omega, and what better way then to pretend he was some directionless cowboy drunk and wait for his opportunity to humiliate Omega on a grand scale.... and why, you ask? Because it would be revealed that Page wasn't who he said he was, and was actually a Canadian kid from Winnipeg who was bullied and embarrassed by Omega as children and who swore that one day he would grow up to get his revenge on a scale writ large. Now that's long-term booking, and would have given their match some real heat!
