Funky Fly 03-13-2012 06:48 PM

If you click the sticks, you autocombo. You have to disable it in the controls.

Kalyx triaD 03-13-2012 08:17 PM

Take autocombo off the sticks in the config menu.

Captain of Fun 03-13-2012 08:30 PM

You do know that auto combos are set to pressing the analog sticks as well, right? It's not just that button combination or whatever. You can turn it off in button configure.

Captain of Fun 03-13-2012 08:31 PM

Damn it, new page.

Captain of Fun 03-13-2012 08:34 PM

Really want to get King where Heihachi is. He's so fun to use.

Captain of Fun 03-14-2012 02:03 AM

Ugh. Played King all night and could only pull off his basic combo. I want to hit his running powerbomb in a match so bad, but I choke whenever I try it. Completely forgot about his convict kick > DDT move.

I need to use the shining wizard more, since people instinctively block low after I jump in. Still haven't hit a dragon screw. Keep mixing up the high and low versions and getting caught.

Blitz 03-14-2012 02:39 AM

Probably gonna spend some more time with Poison. I like her possibilities.

Drakul 03-14-2012 02:48 AM

I didn't know that clicking the stick did that but I'm pretty sure I wasn't clicking the stick. I'll disable it and see if that stops that. Then I've just to figure out the H.Punch thing and it should be passable.

I'm liing Poison too. She's a good sidekick for my main guy.

Captain of Fun 03-14-2012 02:56 AM

Poison can be pretty nasty. Doesn't seem like she does a lot of damage though. I was able to come back quite a few times against her tonight, after getting throttled for most of the match.

She has a lot of unsafe moves, as well.

Funky Fly 03-14-2012 03:11 PM

Haven't spent a great deal of time with this, but I can say that:

- Lili has possibilities, but the low damage...
- Gonna be deadly with Raven eventually. Really like his style.
- I actually kinda like Ryu better than Ken in this game.
- Bison is beastly.
- Probably gonna give up on Abel, unless he gets a slight buff.
- Somebody called it with Asuka. No anti air game at all.
- Wanna get good with King and Hwoarang but it seems unlikely.

Captain of Fun 03-14-2012 03:38 PM

Yeah, Ken is pretty toned down from SF4, from what I hear. Doesn't Asuka have an anti-air grab?

Funky Fly 03-14-2012 04:19 PM

Pretty sure it's an anti air counter, like King's dragon screw. Never managed to hit it during a match anyway. Ken and Ryu feel more like their SF3 counterparts, I guess. I preferred Ryu in 3 as well.

Captain of Fun 03-14-2012 06:49 PM

Fooling around with Xiaoyu today. Mix ups like crazy if you can use her right, but she seems like a very technical character. Dunno if I'll use her more yet.

Captain of Fun 03-14-2012 07:47 PM

Julia and Dhalsims swap costumes have shown up on eu psn. You can only find them with the search function, and there is nothing on the psn blog, so it must be a leak.

They are a dollar each, which seems high, but I'm betting it's because they have full color customization.

RoXer 03-14-2012 11:12 PM

Gunna start this now that I think Im done with ME3

Blitz 03-15-2012 12:06 AM

Much as I like Law and Hwoarang, they just aren't completely clicking for me yet. So tonight, I throw down with Cammy and Poison.

Folks, we might have something here.

Yeah, once I get done with ME3, I'm all in for joining in. Probably have another 10 hours at most.

RoXer 03-15-2012 12:23 AM

Don't get your hopes up about the ending

Captain of Fun 03-15-2012 12:57 AM

Finally starting to see the possibilities with Marduk. Key is in his normals. Back + MP has armor and is a great set up for the northern lights suplex.

I think as a whole I'm going to be playing grapplers a whole lot more in this game. King is really starting to look good, and I'm learning new tricks with Hugo every day. Zangief has RIDICULOUS range and priority with his command grabs. I barely know how to use Gief, and I destroyed with him earlier. He might end up in my stable of mains.

Only one that's pretty tough is Kuma. I did hit his fart online though, which was very satisfying.

Blitz 03-15-2012 03:13 AM

Wow seriously, dunno if I've just been playing horrible players, but Cammy and Poison are cleaning up for me.

Captain of Fun 03-15-2012 06:41 PM

As if there wasn't enough of a shit storm stirred up by problems exclusive to the xbox version, it now appears that the diagonal input problems are exclusive to the xbox.

I only have a stick for ps3, so I can't comment on it from experience.

btw, Megaman and Pacman are fairly lame. You guys aren't missing much. Cole on the other hand, is pretty darn fun to use.

Drakul 03-16-2012 01:50 AM

Hearing all this stuff about the 360 having this issue and that issue really makes it look like they were trying to make the 360 version inferior.
Not that they had a staff meeting and planned to remove co-op or whatever but more like they just focused on polishing the PS3 version and just brushed the 360 versions problems aside.
They've had multiple excuses for the couch co-op thing. They've said it was MSs fault, they've changed that to "We just didn't have the time" and I think they also said something like "We never said it would be on all formats". Rather than say they'll fix it, they've said they can't and they've told us to take note that they have put lots of other stuff in the game though, as if that makes it ok.
You can't really say that when they're expecting us to be for every single addition thing. Characters, costumes, combos and colours.

Maybe Sony paid them a little more to ignore the 360s issues? Is that a legal thing they can do?
Japanese companies tend to stick side by side, don't they? Maybe it's a nationality thing. 360 is American so it's not as important to Capcom as Sonys machine.

Captain of Fun 03-16-2012 02:03 AM

Still not utilizing all of kings tools in battle, but I'm getting better. Jaguar step mix ups can mess with an opponent's head.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-16-2012 03:02 AM

They've released the patch for the 360 pirate version to unlock all DLC. There's a good local copy to have

Captain of Fun 03-16-2012 03:12 AM

Dunno if I like best of 5 rounds in this game. Best of 3 takes long enough as it is.

Kalyx triaD 03-16-2012 03:34 AM

Yeah, won't do that as much.

Drakul 03-16-2012 07:32 AM

Really? I thought best of 3 was much quicker in this than it was in SSFIV. I've been doing best of 7 for Scramble Battles.

Kalyx triaD 03-16-2012 01:42 PM

Scramble's pretty quick compared to regular play. We've had some lobbies and though we've gotten better we still have time-outs.

Hot on the heels of its March 6 release date, SFxT is about to kick off regular updates - meant to keep the experience fresh all through the year - with a blend of free and paid DLC. There's a whole bunch o' content coming, so let's break it all down...

Up first on April 3 are Swap Costumes that take the "alternate costume" DLC idea one step further - instead of offering basic alts, these outfits cross the fashion line by dressing SF characters as Tekken characters and vice versa. See Raven dress as Guy, Cammy as King and uh, Kuma as R. Mika...(?)

Swap Costumes are available for $1.00 (80 Microsoft Points) each, or if you wanna dive in for the whole assortment you can pick up the Street Fighter or Tekken collection packs for $13.00 (1040 MSP) each - buying one pack saves $6.00, grabbing both saves $12.00. April 3 also brings three free color packs, each containing four new additions to the palette for added customization options. Topping off the April 3 additions are three new quick combos, making for a total of five pre-programmed attack patterns. While spamming these pre-set combos is tempting, don't forget each use saps some of your Cross Gauge!

Shortly after those items arrive, look for a free tournament support title update that will add a new and faster way to select your gems from the versus screen via a dial system. We'll actually run a live stream this Monday at 4pm PT to show off this update, so head to our Twitch TV page for details. The tournament update will also include improvements to the online sound issues discussed in Ayano-san's earlier blog.

Looking just a few more weeks beyond the tournament support addition, the next big wave is a massive selection of free content delivered as a title update. This includes three new Assist Gem packs and six new Boost Gem packs, which add over 60 gems to the selection pool. This sizable infusion of new gems exponentially increases the customization options for every player, so we should see some interesting new loadouts once this DLC arrives. To that point, we're also tossing in three more gem slots per character in which you can save your preferred loadouts. Finally, this update comes complete with a free replay analyzer, which enables you to dissect each fighters' vital statistics.

The biggest additions come soon after the PlayStation Vita version launches later this year - the 12 characters debuting on Vita will come to consoles as a $20.00 (1600 MSP) bundle. I know many were worried past character pricing would push the cost of this update sky high, so I'm happy to say Blanka, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Elena, Dudley, Alisa, Bryan, Christie, Jack, Lars and Lei will not break the bank.

One additional note - the dev team is also already working on solutions to the infinite combos currently making the rounds on YouTube, and will have them patched up once these other updates are out the door.

I know this was a massive wall of text, so for further clarity, here's everything we discussed above. This all begins on April 3 with Swap Costumes, color packs and quick combos, and then rolls out over the next several weeks:

FREE
Nine new gem packs totaling 60+ new gems
Replay analyzer
Tournament support for gem selection
Three new quick combo pre-sets
Three additional gem loadout slots
Three new color packs with four colors each

PAID
Swap Costumes - $1.00 (80 MSP) each or in two $13.00 (1040 MSP) Street Fighter and/or Tekken packs
DLC characters - $20.00 (1600 MSP) for all 12 new fighters

Kalyx triaD 03-16-2012 03:21 PM

All the DLC Gems. Some interesting stuff in there.

Drakul 03-16-2012 06:44 PM

I like the sound of the DLC. I wonder if the free gems are the ones I got from the LE.

12 free colours. Hoping for red, yellow, green and orange. If they bring out green and purple, I intend to colour Marduk out like Hulk. Just because they have a similar shape, even if Marduk is obviously smaller.

RoXer 03-16-2012 06:55 PM

I may owe Hasney an apology as online is pretty fucking bad in this. Do they plan on fixing that at all?

RoXer 03-16-2012 07:20 PM

dude, fuck this

like I know my internet speed isn't what it should be but it should host a decent match. and i'm guessing even on great connections there are still sounds clipped and frames skipping? this is dumb.

it could be just me but i doubt it. this is dumb

Captain of Fun 03-17-2012 12:46 AM

Pretty smooth with 2 or 3 people. 4 or more and it can lag on occasion, but overall it's been okay. Honestly, we were doing pretty well with a 5 person room until you came in, Roxer.

DLC is pretty great deal.

Sound cuts out, regardless of connection. They said something about it being a trade off between the sound working and having a smooth connection or something. I just skimmed the article that spoke about it.

Boomer 03-17-2012 12:16 PM

This game makes me feel awful that I can't execute any combo out of the regular L-L-M-H arrangement. Executing linking and cancels regularly is something I just can't do well, and I hate that I don't have the time or patience to try and get much better at it.

Captain of Fun 03-17-2012 12:33 PM

Play as Tekken characters. Their various chain combos are a lot easier than links.

Boomer 03-17-2012 12:51 PM

I want to play with whoever, not just what's easiest

Kalyx triaD 03-17-2012 01:07 PM

Who do you play?
