Started The Witcher 3. Never played Witcher 2 and only played about 30 minutes of Witcher 1 but was not a fan of the combat system. Kinda missing out on story but Witcher 3 seems to get so many good reviews that it's a cant miss RPG.
|
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Best combat of the series. Story is great too. Being a PSVita port the stage layouts are a bit uninspired but over all its excellent. |
Started Dark Souls.
So thats what Anal feels like. |
Borderlands 2 on PS4 via the Handsome Collection. My Zer0 is only lv. 10 so far, but Midge-mong dropped a Wild KerBlaster legendary AR, and while doing Hammerlock's bullymong mission, spotted Savage Lee who IIRC is guaranteed to drop a Unkempt Harold pistol, and as it just so happens he dropped a freaking Double Penetrating one first try!
|
Ryse on legendary difficulty
Just started Dead Rising 4 as well |
BAck to Guild wars 2 for a bit
|
playing PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS on PC
|
Going to try Just Cause 3 since it's free on PS+ this month.
|
Controls are not intuitive but if you can work with them its a blast
|
Also Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

Pretty dull. I got over destroying parts of military bases way sooner than I figured I would, and wasn't drawn into the story the way I hoped. Was a pretty quick uninstall.
|
Played through Until Dawn, thought it was pretty cool. Not sure how much your decisions actually change what happens but the no do-overs system really adds to the tension. I only got four people out alive, stillness motion sensors are hyper sensitive bullshit.
It's a Heavy Rain / Telltale style horror, if you're into that sort of thing. |
I really dug it. Only had one die. Literally the final decision...so pissed
|
I failed that same QTE, and it annoyed me more than the other three deaths combined. Even when one of them was
SPOILER: show |
Gotta say though the genre might be the future of the slasher genre...

Yeah, I started again on the PS3 versions and I thought I fell off the franchise and that it wasn't for me anymore. The load times, framerate and opening with that stupid fetch quest just pushed me away. Now the first two things are fixed on PS4 and I pushed past finding things on the beach, I loved it again.
|
Got Borderlands 2 with all the DLC for my PC, so I'm playing through that again. It's still a blast.

KH2 is considered by many to be the top of the mountain for the franchise. Personally I think BBS is the best but they're both stellar. The plot from the hand helds are super important though so def dont just go into KH2 with out playing the between title or you'll lost as fuck
|
Yeah, that's re-chain. I've been told to do it in this order:
KH1 Chain of Memories KH2 358/2 Coded Birth By Sleep 358/2 and Re:Coded are on the disc as movies rather than ports, but the DS versions are well reviewed, so I might just pick them up cheap. |
Order is wrong...
KH:1 CoM 358/2 KH:2 BBS Coded DDD BBS .02 Back Cover thats the order they were released. 358/2 is integral to making KH2 make sense. Coded/BBS order woulndt make much of a difference as far as order. BBS is a prequel to the entire franchise. I reccomend watching the movies on 358/2 and coded. Neither are really worth replaying gameplay wise but the story does matter. |
358/2 came out after Kingdom Hearts 2, by like 3 years.
|
Assuming that's accurate i stand by the post. KH2 picks up immediately where 358/2 leaves off (literally.) The first two hours would make no sense without it...to further my argument they placed 358/2 after CoM on the compilation for good reason. That's def where it goes.

Tried the Dreadnaught open beta on PS4. Concept is unique, but it's has alot of work to do to get it to how I would like it to be.
Bought Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice today. Saving that for later on in the year. |

So far on PS4 version have only played Maya and Zer0, but it's fun tooling around as Zer0 using nothing but sniper rifles and wrecking shit left and right with B0re and Critical Ascensi0n from his "Sniping" skill tree. |

Sonic Mania is really fun so far.

Played Gone Home. Took about an hour. Nothing happened. No idea why this game is so highly rated.

Borderlands. Good RPG

As far as "interactive story" games go, Night in the Woods is head and shoulders the best one I've played.
|
Yeah, heard that was good too. Just got started on Little Red Lie and want to get through that one firdt.
|
Not sure if im bored with borderlands or not...
level 26. Feels extremely repetitive at this point. The leveling is great and i have a clear plan on a build so that keeps me going...will take another 25 to have it pulled off tho...and its taking lots of xp to level...i dunno...never ending fetch quests. Go here, shoot what spawns and come back. Not enough enemy types to keep that interesting. |

Taking Sephs advice once the missions got back above my level it became much more engaging. Might resist my urge to complete and just stick to the story...as dirty as that makes me feel.

Can never complete or never not complete?

I can never just focus on the main story. Have some sort of ocd thing where I have to do all the side quests.

but it def improved borderlands. The side quest ruined the game I think. I wll use them for grinding purposes if I find something I cant beat but other than that Im full steam ahead.
|
I've been playing Witcher 3 quite solidly for the past few months; completed the Heart of Stone DLC last weekend, and I am in the early stages of Blood and Wine. I still need to complete the main quest of the base game, but that can wait for awhile.
I think W3 is probably the best game I've played in quite some time. |
The end of blood and wine comes after the end of the base game. Fyi. Actually all of blood and wine does but you wont notice till the end.
What im saying is go finish the main game. Also W3 is the best game of this console generation hands down. |
Witcher 3 is one of the best games I've ever played. Maybe the best.
|
Dumped Borderlands because Rabbids drops TUES. Playing Sonic Mania until then...it has mean bean machine...WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME
|
Mario + Rabbids. So so good
|
Finally got my Sol permit in Elite Dangerous. Gonna make the journey there and park it at a friendly space station for the time being.
Going to start Just Cause 3. See if I can blow through that pretty quick then maybe jump into Hellblade. |
Alright, so didn't dig Just Cause 3.
Moved on to the Game of Thrones Telltale game. Pretty tricky compared to some other Telltale entries. And also has it's usual bugs & graphics issues like every tell Telltale game. |
Starting Pillars of Eternity. Ill post in this thread once ive made my PC...bet it takes atleast an hour :y:
|
30 min later...i have chosen my gender...so many fascinating race and subclass options...cant decide...
|
Goimg with an elven cipher...nearlyt done with attributes...
|
Done. Hour and half..not bad, character appearance editor was so thin it took 2 seconds though otherwise id have had another 30 min easy.
|
Finished the main game of Witcher 3 (Ciri became a witcher, so I consider that a happy ending), so I will finish Blood and Wine now.
|
That was my fav ending. I personally feel thats the best ending really...
|
Ciri definitely looked happy at the end.
Geralt also went off with Yen, so happy ending there too. Sadly, Radovid went on a burning spree after winning the war. |
My Geralt ended up alone aftwr Triss and Yen staged a 3 way in order to expose him as a letcher
|
He fucked absolutely everything he could tbh

SPOILER: show |

I always found sex scenes in games really, really sad. And the thought that some people jerk off to them is miserable. |
I mean you can build a very geniun relationship with multiple women but at some point you have to choose or you will end up alone. But it fits his character and is authentic to the novels adaptation. I think it belongs in.
|
Read recently Sapkowski only got a bit of money from this. He had a choice - get some money upfront or percentages. He was sure it's gonna fail, as all Polish games do and chose the former. Must be bitter now.
|
And about sex in games. I remember the hot coffee mod. That was awful.
|
Is the sex in The Witcher also mini-games?

Finished going through the Dark Souls 3 DLC, not sure if it was super hard or just tough because I'm on NG++ and it's new to me. Struggled most with Freide in the first DLC, total three stages of hell. The third stage works more like a Bloodborne boss, which makes it a nightmare to deal with when youre lugging around an Ultra Greatsword. Probably manageable on NG, but much not fun here.
Last boss of the Ringed City was tough at first but not too hard considering he is essentially the final boss of the series. Very cinematic though. Midir on the other hand is fantastic, I don't know why they can never get dragons right in the main game but always deliver with the DLC. Started out hating it since I was doing chip damage and getting one shotted for ages but getting good enough to take him down was the most satisfying victory since Nameless King. I picked up Dark Souls 2 Scholars of the First Sin also since I never got the DS2 DLC first time round. This series is not finished with me yet. |
Started up Telltale Tales from the Borderlands.
Funny as hell, graphics are top notch, much more relaxed than Game of Thrones. Voice cast is great, too. All the hallmarks of a Borderlands game. Should have this done before the week is over. Recommend you guys grab this on the cheap or FREE if you get the chance. |
Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
Been playing it in short bursts since my nephew uses the Switch the most for his games and this one. |
ITS SO GOOD
|
Finished Tales from the Borderlands last night. By far the best Telltale game I've played. Will most definitely pick up Season 2 if it comes out.
Got Metroid: Samus Returns and I'm only hearing great things. Will stick with that until Marvel vs. Capcom comes out Tuesday. |

Metroid: Samus Returns is finished. Incredible game. The joint-op between Nintendo and MercurySteam was a success.
Although, the franchise could use something fresh. Like a hardcore-ish first person shooter on the Switch. Finally going to fire up MvC:I. |
Been doing more JC3. Finally liberated the first of 3 regions...other 2 both seem pretty massive.

I've been playing Y's VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.
Pretty fun game tbh. Def up to my JRPG standards of goodtimez. Currently standing in front of the boss for the post-game dungeon. It's a beast of a boss and introduces a mechanic no other enemy in the game has; said mechanic is also frustrating af. |

I'd give it a solid 8. I've been playing it on PS4 and it would be higher but I'm a graphics/tech whore and it isn't the prettiest game with it being originally designed with Vita in mind. Not ugly by any means, but the graphics are pretty generic in most cases, with a few standout moments here and there. Also didn't really care for a couple of the features, most notably the 'tower defense' missions that occasionally pop up, and a type of related side mission where you have to 'control' dungeons you previously cleared. I'm not even sure they are required, but the game makes you feel like they are.
Story, setting, and gameplay are all there, though. There are a few cliché RPG moments here and there, but at this point I don't even think you can avoid that happening altogether in games. Everything has been done at some point, you know what I mean? I didn't have faith in an isolated island setting being the greatest either, but they proved me wrong with the design and variety of areas (which seem samey at the beginning of the game, but quickly change once you move out of the opening areas). Gameplay is where it is at though. Love the combat. Way better on harder difficulties though as they basically force you to use some of the more nuanced features of the combat that you can get by without for the most part on lower difficulty. Timing and strategy become extremely important when you crank it up. Especially timing. |
I'm also a big fan of RPGS that let you jump and have some platforming elements at such. It allows for much more verticality in level design without having to find stairs or a ladder. More of them need to have that feature. I can think of a lot of great RPGs over the years that would have been so much better if you could just freaking jump when running around.
|
I have an extensive backlog but I will def pick this up :y:
On Persona 5 now. It is seriously pushing for my fav game of this gen...Witcher 3 still has it beat though... |
Glad you said that. I've been thinking real hard on picking up Persona 5 in the next few days. I read a game informer article where they already had it ranked in their top 20 rpgs ever and while I find that hard to believe, everything I have heard seems to indicate that it may not be an exaggeration.
|
Btw, are the persona games standalone in their story like FF games? I've never really played them but don't know if I want to jump straight in if they are a continuous related story without at least reading up on the prior entries.

Purchased Dark Souls III last weekend in a Steam sale, so I'm going to finish Blood & Wine and then either start that bad boy or finally play Dishonoured 2.

Still playing Pillars of Eternity. Seems like it is coming to an end soon since The world map isn't that big. Hoping I am wrong. Just finished Act 2.

That blows. Did you turn the auto save feature off? Mines saves every time I enter a new room.

Trial of the damned or whatever...i was braver on start up...
