Started The Witcher 3. Never played Witcher 2 and only played about 30 minutes of Witcher 1 but was not a fan of the combat system. Kinda missing out on story but Witcher 3 seems to get so many good reviews that it's a cant miss RPG.

Destor 07-05-2017 12:17 PM

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

Best combat of the series. Story is great too. Being a PSVita port the stage layouts are a bit uninspired but over all its excellent.

Fignuts 07-06-2017 05:01 AM

Started Dark Souls.

So thats what Anal feels like.

DAMN iNATOR 07-09-2017 03:34 AM

Borderlands 2 on PS4 via the Handsome Collection. My Zer0 is only lv. 10 so far, but Midge-mong dropped a Wild KerBlaster legendary AR, and while doing Hammerlock's bullymong mission, spotted Savage Lee who IIRC is guaranteed to drop a Unkempt Harold pistol, and as it just so happens he dropped a freaking Double Penetrating one first try!

Ryse on legendary difficulty
Just started Dead Rising 4 as well

Indeed, so I've heard.

DAMN iNATOR 08-03-2017 10:59 PM

Pretty dull. I got over destroying parts of military bases way sooner than I figured I would, and wasn't drawn into the story the way I hoped. Was a pretty quick uninstall.

Ultra Mantis 08-07-2017 09:41 PM

Played through Until Dawn, thought it was pretty cool. Not sure how much your decisions actually change what happens but the no do-overs system really adds to the tension. I only got four people out alive, stillness motion sensors are hyper sensitive bullshit.

It's a Heavy Rain / Telltale style horror, if you're into that sort of thing.

Destor 08-07-2017 09:53 PM

I really dug it. Only had one die. Literally the final decision...so pissed

Ultra Mantis 08-07-2017 10:09 PM

I failed that same QTE, and it annoyed me more than the other three deaths combined. Even when one of them was

SPOILER: show
Ashley not letting Chris back in and watching him get his head ripped off because I chose to shoot her, even though she implicitly told me to shoot her. Absolute dickhead.

Destor 08-07-2017 10:28 PM

Gotta say though the genre might be the future of the slasher genre...

Been going through both the collections they released on ps4 to refresh my memory on the franchise to prep for kh:3. Plus play some of the hand helds i never played. Nearly done now....such a great franchise.

#BROKEN Hasney 08-08-2017 08:20 AM

Yeah, I started again on the PS3 versions and I thought I fell off the franchise and that it wasn't for me anymore. The load times, framerate and opening with that stupid fetch quest just pushed me away. Now the first two things are fixed on PS4 and I pushed past finding things on the beach, I loved it again.

Sepholio 08-08-2017 08:23 AM

Got Borderlands 2 with all the DLC for my PC, so I'm playing through that again. It's still a blast.

Sweet! Re-chain of Memories looks weird, but I may as well play them in order. Never even started KH2 because I never finished KH1 back on the PS2 before I sold it.

Destor 08-08-2017 11:38 AM

KH2 is considered by many to be the top of the mountain for the franchise. Personally I think BBS is the best but they're both stellar. The plot from the hand helds are super important though so def dont just go into KH2 with out playing the between title or you'll lost as fuck

#BROKEN Hasney 08-08-2017 12:54 PM

Yeah, that's re-chain. I've been told to do it in this order:

KH1
Chain of Memories
KH2
358/2
Coded
Birth By Sleep

358/2 and Re:Coded are on the disc as movies rather than ports, but the DS versions are well reviewed, so I might just pick them up cheap.

Destor 08-08-2017 01:20 PM

Order is wrong...

KH:1
CoM
358/2
KH:2
BBS
Coded
DDD
BBS .02
Back Cover

thats the order they were released. 358/2 is integral to making KH2 make sense. Coded/BBS order woulndt make much of a difference as far as order. BBS is a prequel to the entire franchise.

I reccomend watching the movies on 358/2 and coded. Neither are really worth replaying gameplay wise but the story does matter.

#BROKEN Hasney 08-08-2017 05:03 PM

358/2 came out after Kingdom Hearts 2, by like 3 years.

Destor 08-08-2017 05:21 PM

Assuming that's accurate i stand by the post. KH2 picks up immediately where 358/2 leaves off (literally.) The first two hours would make no sense without it...to further my argument they placed 358/2 after CoM on the compilation for good reason. That's def where it goes.

ClockShot 08-08-2017 07:55 PM

Tried the Dreadnaught open beta on PS4. Concept is unique, but it's has alot of work to do to get it to how I would like it to be.

Bought Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice today. Saving that for later on in the year.

Nice dude...I've got Handsome Collection on PS4. Personally, I'm not a stick to one character type when it comes to the BL series, gotta try out everybody. Favorite in 2 is Maya, but Salvador is really fun.

So far on PS4 version have only played Maya and Zer0, but it's fun tooling around as Zer0 using nothing but sniper rifles and wrecking shit left and right with B0re and Critical Ascensi0n from his "Sniping" skill tree.

Got this on sale for like 3 bucks a few months ago. Haven't got around to it. Supposed to be a good story so I'm kinda surprised two here didn't like it. Guessing it's going to be kind of an early Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

As far as "interactive story" games go, Night in the Woods is head and shoulders the best one I've played.

Yeah, heard that was good too. Just got started on Little Red Lie and want to get through that one firdt.

Destor 08-20-2017 10:33 AM

Not sure if im bored with borderlands or not...

level 26. Feels extremely repetitive at this point. The leveling is great and i have a clear plan on a build so that keeps me going...will take another 25 to have it pulled off tho...and its taking lots of xp to level...i dunno...never ending fetch quests. Go here, shoot what spawns and come back. Not enough enemy types to keep that interesting.

It's just like, there's nothing to it. You walj around, click a couple of things and it's over. No twists in the story, no set pieces, absolutely nothing of note going on.

Yeah I am doing Zer0 as well. Maxed his sniping tree first and roll with 3 different sniper rifles and a shotgun. Working on the melee tree now because it is really godly in the long run if you work it right.

Don't burn yourself out on that first playthrough. When you start to edge towards level 30, just start going after story missions and ignoring the ones that are low level unless they have a specific reward you want. You can catch all those other missions on a later higher level playthrough when the rewards are better and there is more of a challenge to it. When you get through the story and start over, quests and enemies will give you way more experience and it will pick up the pace of your build significantly.

I KNOW. I must see everything. But not only that I must be time efficient. Systematically doing everything in the most structured way possible...I think it's why I love DA:O so much...

Destor 08-22-2017 03:24 PM

but it def improved borderlands. The side quest ruined the game I think. I wll use them for grinding purposes if I find something I cant beat but other than that Im full steam ahead.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-23-2017 04:29 PM

I've been playing Witcher 3 quite solidly for the past few months; completed the Heart of Stone DLC last weekend, and I am in the early stages of Blood and Wine. I still need to complete the main quest of the base game, but that can wait for awhile.

I think W3 is probably the best game I've played in quite some time.

Destor 08-23-2017 05:11 PM

The end of blood and wine comes after the end of the base game. Fyi. Actually all of blood and wine does but you wont notice till the end.

What im saying is go finish the main game.

Also W3 is the best game of this console generation hands down.

Sepholio 08-24-2017 08:26 AM

Witcher 3 is one of the best games I've ever played. Maybe the best.

Going to start Just Cause 3. See if I can blow through that pretty quick then maybe jump into Hellblade.

ClockShot 09-03-2017 11:26 AM

Alright, so didn't dig Just Cause 3.

Moved on to the Game of Thrones Telltale game. Pretty tricky compared to some other Telltale entries. And also has it's usual bugs & graphics issues like every tell Telltale game.

That was my fav ending. I personally feel thats the best ending really...

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-10-2017 04:18 PM

Is it important to the plot?

I always found sex scenes in games really, really sad. And the thought that some people jerk off to them is miserable.

Destor 09-10-2017 09:24 PM

I mean you can build a very geniun relationship with multiple women but at some point you have to choose or you will end up alone. But it fits his character and is authentic to the novels adaptation. I think it belongs in.

Sixx 09-11-2017 02:47 AM

Read recently Sapkowski only got a bit of money from this. He had a choice - get some money upfront or percentages. He was sure it's gonna fail, as all Polish games do and chose the former. Must be bitter now.

Sixx 09-11-2017 02:48 AM

Finished going through the Dark Souls 3 DLC, not sure if it was super hard or just tough because I'm on NG++ and it's new to me. Struggled most with Freide in the first DLC, total three stages of hell. The third stage works more like a Bloodborne boss, which makes it a nightmare to deal with when youre lugging around an Ultra Greatsword. Probably manageable on NG, but much not fun here.

Last boss of the Ringed City was tough at first but not too hard considering he is essentially the final boss of the series. Very cinematic though.

Midir on the other hand is fantastic, I don't know why they can never get dragons right in the main game but always deliver with the DLC. Started out hating it since I was doing chip damage and getting one shotted for ages but getting good enough to take him down was the most satisfying victory since Nameless King.

I picked up Dark Souls 2 Scholars of the First Sin also since I never got the DS2 DLC first time round. This series is not finished with me yet.

ClockShot 09-12-2017 03:57 PM

Started up Telltale Tales from the Borderlands.

Funny as hell, graphics are top notch, much more relaxed than Game of Thrones. Voice cast is great, too. All the hallmarks of a Borderlands game.

Should have this done before the week is over. Recommend you guys grab this on the cheap or FREE if you get the chance.

TFtB is most likely done, since it didn't meet Telltale expectations with regards to sales. Now, on the other hand, we could focus on Borderlands 3 news...feeling cautiously optimistic that maybe 2K will officially announce it finally sometime in the next 6 months.

Although, the franchise could use something fresh. Like a hardcore-ish first person shooter on the Switch.

I've been playing Y's VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.

Pretty fun game tbh. Def up to my JRPG standards of goodtimez. Currently standing in front of the boss for the post-game dungeon. It's a beast of a boss and introduces a mechanic no other enemy in the game has; said mechanic is also frustrating af.

Ive heard nothing but good things. Scale of 1-10?

Sepholio 09-26-2017 10:04 AM

I'd give it a solid 8. I've been playing it on PS4 and it would be higher but I'm a graphics/tech whore and it isn't the prettiest game with it being originally designed with Vita in mind. Not ugly by any means, but the graphics are pretty generic in most cases, with a few standout moments here and there. Also didn't really care for a couple of the features, most notably the 'tower defense' missions that occasionally pop up, and a type of related side mission where you have to 'control' dungeons you previously cleared. I'm not even sure they are required, but the game makes you feel like they are.

Story, setting, and gameplay are all there, though. There are a few cliché RPG moments here and there, but at this point I don't even think you can avoid that happening altogether in games. Everything has been done at some point, you know what I mean? I didn't have faith in an isolated island setting being the greatest either, but they proved me wrong with the design and variety of areas (which seem samey at the beginning of the game, but quickly change once you move out of the opening areas). Gameplay is where it is at though. Love the combat. Way better on harder difficulties though as they basically force you to use some of the more nuanced features of the combat that you can get by without for the most part on lower difficulty. Timing and strategy become extremely important when you crank it up. Especially timing.

Sepholio 09-26-2017 10:10 AM

I'm also a big fan of RPGS that let you jump and have some platforming elements at such. It allows for much more verticality in level design without having to find stairs or a ladder. More of them need to have that feature. I can think of a lot of great RPGs over the years that would have been so much better if you could just freaking jump when running around.

Destor 09-26-2017 10:12 AM

I have an extensive backlog but I will def pick this up :y:

On Persona 5 now. It is seriously pushing for my fav game of this gen...Witcher 3 still has it beat though...

Sepholio 09-26-2017 10:15 AM

Glad you said that. I've been thinking real hard on picking up Persona 5 in the next few days. I read a game informer article where they already had it ranked in their top 20 rpgs ever and while I find that hard to believe, everything I have heard seems to indicate that it may not be an exaggeration.

Sepholio 09-26-2017 10:16 AM

Btw, are the persona games standalone in their story like FF games? I've never really played them but don't know if I want to jump straight in if they are a continuous related story without at least reading up on the prior entries.

Purchased Dark Souls III last weekend in a Steam sale, so I'm going to finish Blood & Wine and then either start that bad boy or finally play Dishonoured 2.
