Got ya, so fucking hard to understand this guy sometimes that it's easy to miss some things completely

He was going for a united front from Nintendo, MS and Sony against the cheap, crap mobile and social network gaming out there now. |
Wow, misunderstood him completely then.
I still think Nintendo should have it's own front against the majority of crap games they OK for Wii before they care about other platforms crap games |

That's good enough for me. |

The biggest difference is the Wii's casual audience is talked a lot more than the PS2's audience and the involvement of both Sony and Nintendo with the audience. |
DICE and EA continue trashing Activision and Call of Duty series. They also managed to indirectly insult gamers who play those games even though that same group also buys other shooters and EA games.

Rumors were of the game doing something similar to Mario Galaxy 2 and launching in May but Nintendo said the next time new info is given will be during E3 and the game is still set for a late 2011 release date. |
May have been acknowledged already, but IGN says that over 70% of people that started Heavy Rain finished it. If true, that number is ridiculous, as I guarantee the usual number is around 25%. I'm kinda hoping that this helps aid a resurgence in GOOD adventure games, especially because I'm still dying to see the next Dreamfall game.

Heavy Rain was a fantastic game.

Bought Pac-Man DX. Such an awesome game, love that you can change the style of pacman to Pac-Mania style :D. Ghost lines are huge

Valve recently teamed up with Intel to provide a stronger security and anti-phishing system for Steam.
Once completed, Steam Guard will be a hardware-based security system instead of the more common and traditional software-based system. No more would fake email messages work to steal passwords since any changes to an account has to be done on the computer (or authorized machine). Steam Guard will be optional to use in case some users don't want to be "locked" into one machine or are more comfortable in the old system. Quote:

I can't wait for the next splinter cell. Been playing conviction a lot lately. Fuck all the haters. The old games were getting stale. The new gameplay is awesome.
Only thing that bothers me is that even if you take out a dozen guys, the one guy left will still be taunting you and act cocky. This wouldn't have been much of a bother, but I played this after arkham asylum, so it was more noticable to me. Even so, deniable ops is a blast, and I wish they would release another dlc pack for it. |
Conviction is a great game. If they had it on PS3 I would get it again.

Hyperdimension Neptunia on the PS3 by NIS could potentially change the way party-based RPGs are played and it involves spending real money.
Traditionally RPGs either let you form your initial party from a pool of characters or let you recruit new characters either by force or as an option. This game lets you recruit characters in your party as long as you actually pay to use them. You still unlock characters in the traditional storyline way but until you purchase the activation packs on the PSN store ($1.99), they remain "locked" for the entire game. Unlike most DLC, the difference in this style is how the characters are actually advertised in ads or back of the box but purposely locked compared to adding stuff not on the disk or hiding it with a key. Same goes for certain missions, weapons, and clothing. Square-Enix has already tested out doing something like this in the future with some WiiWare games but so far haven't done it in a big retail game. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as...ay2play_01.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5776688/a-role+p...-party-members -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A lot of news from Epic games concerning Gears of War 3 with the beta starting April 18 (Bulletstorm owners) or April 25 (pre-order owners) and finishes May 15. Also announced was 3 versions of the game will be released as Standard, Limited, and Epic. If past collection sets are any indication, Limited should be around $70-$120 and Epic around $90-$150. Finally, Epic also brags how their Easter Eggs in the game will be much harder to find taking "Months If Not Years" to find. |
lol Premium party members, get the fuck outta here. Imagine something like this on a Tactics game.

343 Stduios hints that a Halo Wars sequel might arrive in the future and could even be a Kinect-enabled game.
Last year Microsoft tried to shut down the leaderboards for the game due to lack of support compared to their other games but found out that the community is still strong enough for RTS games on the console. Quote:

Previously, the 2nd quest was only available in Japan or on the Zelda collection set disc but this makes the first time ever it will be on the same game cart in the US/Canada and Europe. |
I'm gonna guess that 76% of people who bought Halo Wars had no idea it was a RTS
|
Quote:
|
Was the Master Quest originally included in the Ocarina of Time cart when it was released on the N64 in Europe?
I should have been a bit more clear meaning this will be the first time the MQ is together with the original like it was in Japan and not as an "extra" or pre-order bonus. |
No it wasn't on the cart with the original OoT. The only times it was on the same "media" as OoT was when it shared a disc with it for the WW preorder bonus disc and in the Zelda Collection.
|
It wasn't even on a cart in Japan. It was released as a expansion for the disk expansion thing they released only in Japan.

Crap I forgot all about that N64 Disk Drive (N64DD) thingy they had for the system in Japan.

Red Lynx announces that the "sequel" or successor to Trials HD will arrive on the Wii and be called Moto Heroz. The studio is being backed in both money and help from Nintendo so no chance at this game arriving on the PS3 or Xbox 360 (similar to Trials HD not on the Wii or PS3).
Some gameplay features announced are roughly 75 levels, side scrolling perspective for races, and the Wiimote used in the classic NES position with motion controls mainly for flipping crashed cars. Red Lynx's goal for multiplayer is to do something barely seen or done on consoles and handhelds: Quote:

It's ok in that department. A solid game overall, but FEAR and Dead Space are much scarier. The gameplay of the Darkness is novel, and the story is intriguing. I'd put it on par with Prey (another title that doesn't get enough love)
|
Fucking couldn't stand Dead Space. Literally had to force my way through the first 7 chapters before stopping. Every level felt the same. DS2 seems to have fixed that, with multiple types of environments.

Manhunt and Condemmed might be as scary as well (US versions only)

I need PS3 games. Is that on the PS3

Condemned is terrifying.

Siren:Blood Curse is tits. I think that's PS3 exclusive.

Yeah Condemned and Condemned 2 played in low light will make you nervous.

An Indie studio created by a few former members of the Halo franchise announce a new game called Fallen Frontier.
The game by Moonshot Games was revealed to be a 2-D shooter in the style of Bionic Commando and Shadow Complex with a sci-fi setting and theme for gameplay. Also revealed was co-op multiplayer mode to go along with the standard solo/campaign mode. The game will officially be playable as a demo at the upcoming PAX East 2011. The producer/director behind the Mario Kart series explains how and why the Blue Shell was put in the game. It turns out the Blue Shell had 2 purposes with one being a hidden purpose.
Gameplay-wise, the shell is meant to keep every race fun for everyone playing. The idea was to keep people playing and not give up due to 1-2 people dominating every race. Technical-wise, it was meant to keep the N64 processor from overloading with everyone on the screen. The shell in this case was meant to knock people off the track to ease the CPU workload. The team had the idea to get rid of the Blue Shell for the Wii version of Mario Kart but by then it became too famous and well-known part of the series to just get rid of. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image.../blueshell.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5780082/the-make...the-blue-shell |

Microsoft preparing to respond harshly to the recent XBLA points exploit costing the company $1.2 million before it was shut down.
Unlike other point generator schemes, this one managed to generate numbers of cards based on previously used cards and not by a random generator. Also unlike other exploits that require some time to get multiple codes and limits on point values, this exploit allowed multiple codes that only needed a button click to generate each time. Microsoft estimates about 1/2 million unsold cards for XBLA are potentially useless right now until Microsoft resets the activation on them. Microsoft is considering a variety of punishments ranging from simple point and purchase deductions to banning and potential bricking of consoles for the bigger offenders (someone managed to steal roughly $15,000 worth in points and spent them all). The exploit only was online for 4 hours and Microsoft confirms the numbers not generated during that time won't be reset in case they were legitimate purchases. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as.../03/points.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5780686/microsof...for-exploiters |
Wow.
|
Why do people even do this stuff? Do they honestly think stuff like this goes by unnoticed?
|
Well, there's probably a bunch of guys that got the stuff duped and are now gonna mod the consoles and never use them online, which is relatively safe, I suppose. Probably a fairly big bunch of people gonna get banned/bricked in the next wave because they're too stupid to see that MS can see what you're doing online..

Valve announces there will be some sort of content to explain the gap in story between Portal 1 and Portal 2. They didn't announce what it is but it could range anywhere between pre-DLC like Case Zero was for Dead Rising 2, a mini-game of some sort, or just a simple storyline press release.
Valve says while Portal 1 occurred after the first Half-Life but before HL 2, Portal 2occurs during Half Life 2 but didn't specify if it was during the main game or the episodes set. Also announced was Portal's overall story does not actually connect with the Half-Life series storyline but almost as a sidestory with minimal references to events in HL. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/galleri...1299884983.jpg http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...or-to-release/ -------------------------------------------------------------- EA drops support for updating NBA Jam rosters for consoles after initially promising the updates would follow the same schedule as the rest of the EA roster update games (Jam would have followed NBA Live/Elite schedule). The BS reason was because they had to include online and HD for the Xbox 360/PS3 meant it was impossible for them to include a roster update schedule. App Store unofficial reason was they were too lazy since the game was a cheap port. |

Electronic Arts might have another financial problem on their hands after UFC bought out Strikeforce today. UFC's exclusive deal with THQ lasting till 2018 could end up killing EA's promised MMA game sequel while giving THQ access to Strikeforce fighters for its next game.
EA's original plans were to put their new MMA series on an alternating schedule with Fight Night series to provide another yearly source of revenue for the company. Even though THQ announced their UFC series is now on a 2 year schedule, it isn't expected that UFC will beak its current deal with THQ to fill in the non-THQ years. THQ would demand less payments on license fees and preference in the UFC brand in any new deal. This news combined with horrible NBA Jam sales, potential end for the NBA Live/Elite series, and expected weak Madden 12 sales will ruin EA's revenue from its sports division. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image...-review-01.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5781350/ufc-take...fter-one-round ---------------------------------------------- Microsoft testing out their network and Xbox Live with a new program called Xbox Labs until March 27. Huge rumor involving Microsoft potentially terminating their relationship with Rare could occur within next year if Rare's next game called Kinect Sports 2 fails to reach sales expectations. Poor sales, public reception, and money spent with little return are some of the reasons for Microsoft to consider this a move.
The rumor originates from last month but somewhat confirmed due to the only major title Rare will work on in 2011 is Kinect Sports 2. Kinect Sports 1 sold about 2.8 million copies but the majority of those were bundled with the accessory (same for Kinect Adventures). Kinect Sports 2 will be the real test for Microsoft to determine if Rare can still sell games without needing bundles or pre-Kinect hype. They might be expecting something similar to Wii Sports Resort generating about 1/3 the sales of Wii Sports. Should Microsoft get rid of Rare, their internal studios would most likely take over the Kinect series. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image...03/feeling.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5781578/hope-you...-kinect-sports ----------------------------------------------------- EA and Activision are leading a group of publishers and developers studios in an attempt to remove NDP from sales discussions. Their issue revolves around the NDP requiring members to pay to access its data and the lack of digital sales tracked by the NDP. The other problem involves publishers and the Big 3 (Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft) themselves do not provide digital sales to the NDP which ends up not covering or estimating these sales as a result. |
One husband and wife DIY team recently announced on Reddit that they'd unlocked the secret of portal technology* using everyday, off-the-shelf parts. By attaching LED rope light to the backs of two oval mirrors, they succeeded in creating one of the most effective (and easily replicated) displays of video game related wall art we've ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on: Portal portals that look strikingly authentic.
The Redditors in question, corttana and dahburbb, say that the "spiraling" effect of the lights is actually the unexpected result of curving the light rope they used into an oval shape. When asked by other users, the duo said they plan to building a Companion Cube storage chest to round out their personal Enrichment Center. You can see more photos of it at the source link. |
It would be cooler if each one was a screen and had a camera on it so when you looked in one it would be like looking out the other.
