Like, I may come down from my Aquaman high and put this behind Avengers 1 but that's about as low as I will rank it.

Seanny One Ball 12-23-2018 05:36 PM

I love this thread.

Yes highly advised. Maybe have a beer while watching. It's a fun movie. The score is also really good. This movie is exactly what was needed for DCEU. I think people are going to love it and it'll have strong legs at the box office. The unrelenting energy in which it's written is on a level even higher than the Marvel films.

Not that it's better per se than their films. It's more like a modern day Reeves Superman. Completely silly and not embarrassed to be so. Might go see it again honestly.

Seanny One Ball 12-23-2018 05:47 PM

You two have gotten me all hyped up.

This never happens. I was hype resistant.

No. You should wait for the DVD release. The only suitable format.

Seanny One Ball 12-23-2018 06:27 PM

I'll still buy the DVD if it's good.

Lock Jaw 12-23-2018 07:19 PM

I'm excited to hear Seanny One Ball's thoughts on the movie

Listened to the entire soundtrack twice in a row when I got home from the movie yesterday....

Seanny One Ball 12-23-2018 07:22 PM

I'm a recovering alcoholic so probably no beer. Watching a movie on my own seems bad enough.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-23-2018 07:31 PM

Then no beer. Just devour a pound of popcorn

Mary Poppins Returns - 8/10

slik 12-24-2018 12:27 AM

Dumplin' on Netflix - 7/10

Cute, feel good movie.

slik 12-24-2018 12:28 AM

I want to see Aquaman again so I'm going to try and talk my brother into going w/ me during the holidays.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-24-2018 12:22 PM

The Childhood of a Leader 8/10

I don't know what the hell is going on, but I enjoyed it (largely due to the music, which cranks up the urgency).

Droford 12-24-2018 01:25 PM

I'm probably the only one that both went to see Welcome to Marwen (alone in the theatre) and liked it (from all the reviews I've read)

About the only thing I didn't like was the shameless riff on Back to the Future but it was cool looking and if you're Robert Zemeckis you can do whatever I guess. Animated doll scenes weren't nearly as creepy to me as everyone says

7.5/10

Damian Rey 2.0 12-24-2018 02:23 PM

Considering its box office returns, you prob were the only one

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-24-2018 02:46 PM

The Lost City of Z 6.5/10

slik 12-24-2018 07:38 PM

The Grinch - 6.5/10

It was cute, animation looked nice.

Lock Jaw 12-24-2018 07:52 PM

Would you say it was "adorable"?

slik 12-24-2018 11:18 PM

No, not really.

I would say Production Design of Whoville was good and that kids will like it.

The Mule - 4.5/5

Clint turns in another hit.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-26-2018 01:28 AM

Mary Poppins Returns-8/10

Absolutely delightful. Captures the feel and spirit of the original. It's a nice change of pace given the current abundance of dark, serious, gritty live action films. Loved it from the openingmusical number on.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 07:00 PM

This thread needs more and better reviews.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 07:02 PM

Fuck it I'll see Aquaman tomorrow. Anything is better than terrible two line reviews.

Ruien 12-26-2018 07:05 PM

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Hey I do better than that

Frank Drebin 12-26-2018 07:53 PM

Venom - 1.5 out of 4

There's a good movie in there somewhere but the whole thing is rushed and stupid.

SPOILER: show
Man, people can get in and out of that top secret lab super easy. Also nice to know that children can hop international flights unattended and there can be billions dollars of destruction through a metropolitan area and you don't hear a peep about it. People really aren't all that terrified of Venom running around. It's as if it's a run of the mill day in SF which might actually be pretty realistic.

Anyway.....there's potential here but it deserved the bad reviews. I'm glad it made a bunch of money because I'd like someone else to have another crack at Venom.

The stinger for Into the Spiderverse was better.

You do more than that. Quality is subjective.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 08:13 PM

Don't take the comment on your shoulders Damian, it was aimed at the entire last page or two.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-26-2018 09:39 PM

You sweet bastard

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 10:02 PM

Using my phone to stream Netflix through my TV. Watching Cam as my first film. I love Madeline Brewer, she doesn't get enough good roles but this is nuts. Seems to be a horror film about webcam models.

I might just change to a Sandler/Spade comedy.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 10:03 PM

Top came off for real. Not changing now.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 10:05 PM

Can't spend 90 minutes debating a wank in a Sandler comedy, that is certain.

Sixx 12-26-2018 10:14 PM

So disappointed in this Polish TV show I think I've mentioned. Hate Polish TV show, but my mom recommended it and I've seen a few scenes while at her place and decided to try it.

1st season - So Positevely surprised. It shows people of Warsaw struggling against the Germans 1941-44. Small groups, some lone people. Dealing with the fact they're overwhelmed, just shows them dealing with everyday life, everything they need to do do to get by. SMALL SCALE. Some really badass street fight scenes, some really cool, unexpecting but making sense plot twists. Actually unexpected deaths.

2nd season. - For some reason they're all in Cairo now, some jews are now very high-ranking SS and some of the characters are superhuman I think?

There's 7 seasons... I asked my mom and to my relief she only saw the first before convincing me to watch it.

WHERE THE FUCK IS THIS GOING?

Sixx 12-26-2018 10:16 PM

Season 4 - This one jew will be expiremented on by the nazis and he'll come out the jar Wolverine. Why? Cause he's had those sweet sideburns since the beginning.

Sixx 12-26-2018 10:17 PM

Season 7 - Thanos is a Nazi.

Cam was ok. I'm usually ok if certain aspects aren't gone into detail but there was no explanation for any of it. I mean, if it was all a metaphor for the Internet/identity blah blah whatever fine.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 10:41 PM

Well I'm watching one of my favourite actresses in a sexy horror film and I don't feel very sexy at all. She looks phenomenal as usual and her take on the character is authentic and exciting but this is all existential horror in a sci-fi wrapping and I wasn't prepared for it.

Stripper Solaris.

You know they still have Netflix on DVD.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2018 10:46 PM

I'm freaked out by how good it is.
I've seen too many webcam shows and I like Madeline Brewer too much to be fooled. This is high end for such a basic premise. I can't call if enjoyable until I see it through.
