SPOILER: show
So fucking happy to see Cad Bane in live action. Such a cool character. I want Aurra Singh in Mando season 3. Yeah they said she was killed in Solo, but that's piss easy to write yourself out of, considering we never saw it, and there were no details.

I imagine we'll get a flashback to Ashoka's first meeting with Luke in her own series.

Hilarious that the best episodes of this series barely have any Boba Fett in them.

.

Easier still, when you consider that
SPOILER: show
they did exactly that with Darth Maul. They showed what happened to him ONSCREEN in a movie to make it blatant he should have been dead, but apparently wasn't.

I've enjoyed the series and would say episode 2 was probably up there. BUT completely neglecting boba fett for 2 eps straight was eyebrow raising.

Lock Jaw 02-08-2022 01:46 PM

Yeah, just a super weird way to structure a tv show.

Also I have been looking at too many "like a bantha" memes

Lengua 02-08-2022 10:28 PM

Pumped for the finale tonight.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-09-2022 09:15 AM

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-09-2022 02:22 PM

I liked the finale but also didn't like it. Lots of action. Fun moments. But they didn't flesh out Boba enough (who'd have thunk that after neglecting him entirely for 2 episodes) nor did they really delve into any of the actual inner workings of Tatooine.

I'd give the season a b-minus based on the fact that I really did enjoy all of it. Just a lot of missed opportunities to really make something that had weight.

Lengua 02-10-2022 01:34 PM

Obi wan takes place on tatooine so we got more time to spend there.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2022 02:37 PM

lookin forward to Obi-Wan.

Lock Jaw 02-10-2022 09:24 PM

Finally watched it.... was pretty cool.... but yeah, Boba Fett like the least cool/interesting part of the Boba Fett show. He didn't even kill all those people in the end, Fennec did. Would have been "cool" if he had "snapped" and "embraced" being a killer like Cad Bane said and ended up ruling with "fear" anyways.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2022 09:31 PM

it's unfortunate because when they gave Boba stuff to do, he was cool. But they decided he didn't matter that much.

drave 02-11-2022 08:46 AM

Slow Burn. They gotta build him up so they can tear him down when he turns to madness and starts putting the sharpshooter on everyone.

drave 02-11-2022 08:47 AM

chop em down

In the last episode maybe? But for the most part I'd agree with the general consensus that he just came off as soft. Which is tragic, because I actually like the idea of Fett being taken in by tuskens and developing a more righteous cause to fight for. But you can do that without losing the ruthless efficiency that people wanted to see from him. That we got a glimpse of in the mandolorian.

The mod gang could have worked as well. They didn't have enough character to dislike them. The backlash has justifiably been their appearance. They're all too clean looking for tattooine. They would be great for a story on coruscant, but they stood out like sore thumbs on the dirty, grimey tattooine. I think if they were designed better no one would have ha a problem.

The Cad Bane fight was alright, but once again, cool star wars villain gets insta killed while having the advantage. Could have made that better. During the flashbacks with fett training with the tusken woman, have her pull that same move against fett. That way when fett does it against Bane it feels like more of a payoff. I would have also revealed that it was Bane specifically who the syndicate had kill the tuskens. Makes the payoff even bigger. Pay me, disney.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2022 09:12 AM

I think viewing him as soft is the cry of the virgin basement dweller, personally. His journey was finding a way to blend his new found sentimentality with the proficiency of his old self which happened in the final ep (and was constantly hinted at in his over reliance on the Barca tank). Where there was a failure was fleshing out the inner workings that established him as a Michael Corleone. All glanced over and suggested instead of showing his ability to strategize. When it came time to show the evolution, it was just an action-filled clusterfuck.

Anyways, shows are allowed to not be perfect and come up short and still be enjoyable for what they are.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2022 09:13 AM

And yeah the fact that they barely paid off the Tuskens was confounding and suggested to me the writing was hella rushed. Like they did 7 self contained episodes that they very quickly tried to tie together.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2022 09:20 AM

They ran into a typical Star Wars problem in that the stories they chose not to tell were the most interesting.

And the writers themselves seemed way more invested in Din and Grogu than they did Boba Fett.

Fignuts 02-11-2022 09:20 AM

No one asked for a sentimental Boba fett.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2022 09:24 AM

You get swallowed by a pit monster in the most humiliating fashion and try be your old self.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2022 09:29 AM

But your reaction is why this project was doomed from the beginning. Everyone has their own ideas of Boba Fett.

Fignuts 02-11-2022 09:33 AM

Getting humiliated changed his motivations and led to him condemning all the idiots he worked for. That part of the show was well done. But he shouldn't have to change who he is or how he accomplishes those goals.

And yes, basement dwelling virgins want every character to be an edgy badass all the time. That doesn't mean that fett shouldn't be.

No. That's just it. There are no varying theories on what Boba Fett should be, or who he is. Part of why he has become arguably the 2nd most popular character in star wars behind Darth Vader, is because everyone has been in agreement on what type of character fett is.

After almost 40 years, to not know how people see Boba fett and what they'd want from a show like this, is to be willfully ignorant.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2022 09:40 AM

Lol I have a group of friends who’ve been stanning Boba Fett as long as you and didn’t take issue with his “softness.” So it’s obviously not that universal.

Fignuts 02-11-2022 09:45 AM

Pretty sure the backlash this show is facing outnumbers your "group of friends".

Fignuts 02-11-2022 09:46 AM

Also, not sure what the point was in having fett walk around without his helmet so much, when temura showed the emotional range of canned soup.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-12-2022 01:42 PM

Never really seen the appeal of Boba Fett and definitely no appeal in him as an old man. Everything about Mando is 100x more interesting than Boba Fett and this show just highlighted that. Awful first four episodes, very fun last three.

Destor 02-12-2022 09:40 PM

the finale was very good. im about to write a very critical post but over all i did enjoy the show and the finale felt like star wars and thats something the recent trilogy and mando havent done very well (mando is great but it feels like a western not star wars and that plays to its advantage in many ways but thats another convo all together.)

boba has dozens of issues.

the first is the mandolorian. amazing show. they gave us the boba fett show we always wanted...and then after giving is the boba fett show we always wanted...they gave us a boba fett show...k...?

sounds fine on paper i suppose but mando is and does everything we want from boba. so now we have to differentiate boba from his derivative but the derivative is more popular and more established now so the derivative lays claim to all the traits that make boba fett boba fett.

so...fuck. ok. lets write a rebirth angle and allow boba fett to become a new version of himself. thats the ticket...except now boba isn boba..mando is boba...so why make a boba show at all? we like green better than silver?

so now we exist in this bizarre paradox probably forever. i dunno.

also regarding mando

SPOILER: show
reuniting with grogu is a mistake. the character is marketable and popular but he reached a wonderful end to his story and to undo all that is a major misstep and i really wish they'd not done it. does s2 of mando have a point at all npw? its fun and heart warming to see them reunited but unless we're about to get some mando and grogu buddy cop stories i dont know what theyre thinking.

im on board but these are issues that are on my mind.

oh and those 1950s space mopeds are gay af.

Destor 02-12-2022 09:46 PM

also boba comes off as impotent and nearly useless the entire show. thankfully he calls on the star of the other show to save him because thats a good way to establish why we should root for him...right?

Destor 02-12-2022 09:47 PM

oh and he spends the 1st 2 eps being a slave to the sand people who have never been a credible threat for even 30 seconds in 45 years. booking so good the show shouldve aired on a monday.

Destor 02-12-2022 09:50 PM

Cad was ace though. so cool.

Destor 02-12-2022 09:50 PM

oh and lol @ him not being in 2 eps of his own show

Destor 02-12-2022 09:51 PM

i had a good time watching it though its just weaker than it should be.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-13-2022 04:46 PM

Finished The Book of Boba Fett. Easy enough to watch, but the show was pure fan service and no substance. They clearly either ran out of ideas to sustain 7 episodes or just got bored of Boba, as mentioned before, he disappeared for 2 episodes.

My interest only perked up once Mando reappeared in episodes 5, which was probably the best of the season.

Ultimately, it feels like a series that didn't need to be. It just made me want the third season of The Mandalorian instead. I don't have high hopes for the Ahsoka Tano series, either, which I fear will suffer the same lazy, poor writing and empty fan service of Boba.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-13-2022 04:48 PM

I've never been a Boba Fett fan-boy, so perhaps that is the root of my feelings of apathy towards the series.

Destor 02-13-2022 05:00 PM

id wager youd be less pleased if you were a boba stan
