Knowing WWE they would just make ECIII Derrick Bateman again and he'd go back to jobbing on SmackDown.

Really looking forward to Money in the Bank. Should have Rollins vs Reigns, hopefully the let the women have a MitB ladder match. Feel like AJ Styles is the only guy to give the briefcase to. In a perfect scenario Balor gets involved in New Day/Anderson&Gallows and The Club win the tag titles. Later on in the night all three help AJ grab the briefcase and Bulletproof is born.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-23-2016 04:49 PM

Kane spoke with the local NBC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee and said he's seriously considering a run as a Republican for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018. Kane says he will make his decision later this year after the presidential election. He commented:

“Yes, I’ve talked about it with some folks but there’s nothing too solid yet. Mayor Burchett’s term is coming up and I think he’s been really good for Knox County. I think the most important thing is I care very deeply about this community, like a lot of people do. And that’s the only reason I would consider getting into any sort of government because I do care very deeply. And I think it’s incumbent upon people who care about the communities to try to make a difference."

Kane is apparently running on keeping county taxes low. He said:

“What I’ve seen in Knox County the past several years is that taxes have remained low because it’s a great place to live. People move here and that helps expands the tax base. My political philosophy is the ‘smaller the better. Government should stay out of the way and let free enterprise do what it does best."

It would be an interesting career change for Kane as the county mayor earns around $170,000 annually and oversees almost 1,000 employees with a more than $750 million budget.
I want to see Corporate Kane showing up for town hall meetings at lunch, and Demon Kane terrorizing the citizens of Knox County at night.

Dana Brooke as Ric Flair was months in the making

"WWF Did You Know"

This was a story that was out there in 1991. Hulk Hogan was on an episode of the Barbershop after Wrestlemania 7. Brutus asks Hogan what he's going to do when Slaughter sprays Agent Orange on the little Hulkamaniacs (agent orange is a poison). This caused a drop in House Show attendance because parents were afraid that their kids were going to be poisoned.
I have heard the promo and I sooooo want this to be true even though it's probably not

Evil Vito 05-23-2016 10:52 PM

 that is amazing if true

Mr. Nerfect 05-23-2016 11:16 PM

Isn't his entire wrestling history the WWE's developmental system? It's incredible to think of how good he could get if he went elsewhere and got some more tips from guys. He can protect himself a lot better too. Would love to see him doing a super-pro-American gaijin gimmick in Japan.

Vastardikai 05-23-2016 11:26 PM

Something I thought about, what with the Wyatts being out: Luke Harper is just as important to the Wyatt Family than even Bray Wyatt.

I don't mean this strictly because of his in ring work. But, because, when Luke is healthy and Bray isn't, they still had Wyatt Family segments. With both out, you got two other guys who are healthy, but are more or less doing nothing.

Wouldn't be surprised although think at least one of the stories regarding the Hulk-Slaughter feud got debunked or was likely a fib. The one about the WWF changing Mania 7's venue because of a legit bomb threat when in reality they likely were well short of a sell-out for the original venue.

Bad News Gertner 05-24-2016 06:41 AM

Lol oh dear God. That should be interesting.

Mr. Nerfect 05-24-2016 07:19 AM

I was thinking about the AJ/Gallows/Anderson stuff on RAW. It seemed a little soft and almost too much of a foreshadowing. My first thought was "They're going to beat-down Styles and we're going to get him and a partner versus Gallows & Anderson at MITB." Finn Balor crossed my mind, but then I thought about John Cena needing something to do. I'm not really keen on seeing him facing Rusev again this early on. Cena vs. Del Rio is also too...meh. It's no fault of Del Rio's, but he just doesn't feel "major" at this point.

Then I thought to myself: I think Anderson was the guy saying "I hope you reconsider" or something as they were walking off from Styles -- who then lost his match clean. What if next week they have Cena cutting a promo in the ring about some unfinished business he has, then Gallows & Anderson come waltzing out. They head to the ring and start to beat on Cena. AJ Styles hits the ring and pulls them off...then he starts beating Cena too.

AJ Styles & The Club were listed as house show opponents for like Cena, Reigns & Ambrose or something. Styles deciding that maybe he does need them could be an interesting turn of events for him. Thinking of potential New Day opponents at Money in the Bank too -- and you do have to consider them somewhat of a priority for the company at this point -- Gallows & Anderson are the best fit. You can have them re-align with Styles who challenges Cena while they going after the tag straps.

Cena vs. Styles would be something special. AJ is also arguably one of the best workers in the company, so if someone can drag something out of a 60% John Cena, he's as good an option as anyone not currently in the Ladder Match. Eventually you bring in Finn Balor as the fourth man to The Club and build tensions between him and Styles.

It's potentially a lot of turns for Styles, but he's going to be cheered against Cena anyway, so it could kind of be a "shades of grey" thing, like what they were doing with Styles and Reigns. But they seemed to distance themselves from that this week on RAW. I guess you could also have Cena vs. Styles completely babyface with the ever-looming threat of Anderson & Gallows hanging over the match. I'd mark the fuck out if they helped John Cena, but that's not happening.

Mr. Nerfect 05-24-2016 07:36 AM

Thinking about what's going on, here's my ideal Money in the Bank card:

WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins

John Cena vs. AJ Styles

Women's Championship
Charlotte (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Special Guest Referee: Ric Flair

NOTE: The Ric Flair inclusion isn't necessary, and I feel the company is done with him on-air at this point, but it'd play off the emotion this week to have Stephanie announce that due to Charlotte's actions, she's appointed him the referee. There is the emotional turmoil of Flair wanting to win his daughter's love back, him being scorned by her, the prestige of the championship, etc. Does he just call it down the middle? Is he going to screw his daughter to teach her some humility? Is he going to help her retain as a "I do love you" move?

Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens vs. Kofi Kingston vs. United States Champion Rusev

WWE Tag Team Championship
The New Day (c) vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

Intercontinental Championship
The Miz (c) vs. Randy Orton

NOTE: I'm not sure if Orton is ready to return. In the quarterly investors' meeting, Vince implied that he'd be back soon. There's very few places to insert Orton. I could see The Miz talking up the prestige of the championship and his role in the company and Orton just coming back and giving him the RKO to set something up. Simple and elegant. Orton doing for the IC Title what Cena did for the US Title last year could be pretty neat. If Orton's not ready, you can slip Kane, Big Show or Mark Henry into this role and have them play the babyface big guy that you think Miz has no chance against, but he finds a way to retain anyway. Those matches may not be pretty, but they're something different in contrast to the rest of the card, and say what you will, I do feel that they've been off TV enough for them to have that casual fan attraction on a minor level, especially against such a perfect douchebag like The Miz.

10-Man Tag Team Match
Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Baron Corbin & The Dudley Boyz vs. Apollo Crews, Kalisto, Dolph Ziggler, Enzo & Cass

NOTE: It seems like they're setting these programs up separately, but if you run everything else, there's not really that much room for them on a seven match card. Sheamus & The Dudleys are both playing these heel thugs that want respect from the newer generation, and putting Crews with Enzo & Cass might help endear him to fans. Corbin and Ziggler could do something on the Kickoff again, but you could throw them in here for some main card shine. You can also do something with Corbin's "Lone Wolf" persona not getting along with the others. Del Rio and Kalisto are random additions, but I can imagine they want a Hispanic presence on the show. Kalisto is going to need something to rebound with after Rusev, so I can see him working some more television matches with Del Rio (I know, it's not very exciting) and they continue that tension here. It's a clusterfuck, but it gets a few prominent players on the show to highlight their stronger points. I originally had this as a mere six-man with Sheamus & The Dudleys vs. Crews, Enzo & Cass, but the inclusion of Ziggler, Corbin, Del Rio & Kalisto somewhat makes sense.

Kickoff Match
Natalya vs. Dana Brooke

Simple Fan 05-24-2016 02:27 PM

I thought it was great for Charlotte.

Sepholio 05-24-2016 02:41 PM

How? She clearly got lost and had to keep saying the same things over and over again. It was forced and obvious that neither one of them were comfortable with how it was going. She went from praise to hate to a little praise to more hate. It was utterly ridiculous and awkward. She seemed so confused out there like she didn't know if it was a promo or real. That's the problem I had with it: It was too real. They already had the issue with someone taunting her about her brother committing suicide on air a few months ago and now the writers put her in an angle disowning her father on the air? It was entirely distasteful.

Everyone in the crowd seemed to realize how horrible it was.

Simple Fan 05-24-2016 03:08 PM

That's what I liked about it. It felt real and she showed a lot of emotion. I think it's time for her to drop her father and do her own thing. It did drag on a little bit but I liked it.

I think if they would've just had her talk about "riding coat tails" and "stealing my light" instead of "personal problems, daddy issues, never home" it would've come off better.

I was digging it when she accused her father of the first two, but when she tried to get personal neither she or Ric could really handle it, and that's when it went to shit.

Sepholio 05-24-2016 05:13 PM

Exactly. It got too personal and they couldn't handle it.

The whole time I was sitting there trying to imagine how awkward Dana Brooke must have felt in that ring.

It was great. If people are upset then Charlotte did her job and did it well. She's a top heel right now along with Kevin OOOOwens.

In terms of weekly stuff, Thunder-Warriors game did more damage to last week's RAW numbers than yesterday's Cavs-Raptors game in terms of sports. Last week's first hour was stronger but yesterday didn't have the big 3rd hour drop last week had.

It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that despite losing to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules, WWE does have big plans for AJ Styles.

No word yet on what they have planned now that Reigns has apparently moved on to Seth Rollins.

Well, that's actually happened quite a number of times to wrestling shows including TNA last year. Schwartz did the interview no doubt because of all the stuff about canceling the replay on Saturday after just four weeks and no mentions at all in the upfronts in March about TNA when plugging shows. Schwartz claimed when they started on the station they wanted to give as many people as possible a chance to find it, so they premiered it and repeated it, but now repeats don't make sense with VOD and DVR's and people watching when they want to anyway. The problem is Pop is not a staggered network like most entertainment networks so prime time means 6 p.m. on the West Coast, which is why Destination America would do the midnight replay, so they have a prime time showing. He tried to give the idea that it was the plan to do so for a few months and then cut down to one airing, which makes zero sense because why do the time slot change just a month ago if the plan was to dump it? He did explain about growing up watching wrestling on Saturday mornings, but again, if that's the case you don't dump it in four weeks. He noted they never marketed the Saturday show and the plan was always to have one two hour broadcast. He claimed repeats don't work, although that's notable because Pop's highest rated show is a repeat.

Basically POP TV trying to downplay them getting rid of Impact replays and their relationship with TNA souring recently.

However the Championshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Era rolls on.

VSG 05-24-2016 10:30 PM

Just need the Rated R Sooooooooooperstar Era to make a return on Raw specials.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-24-2016 10:32 PM

For now. Greg Hamilton worked the Raw after WrestleMania hyping the crowd up and announcing Lilian Garcia to the ring.

Mr. Nerfect 05-25-2016 07:54 AM

Did anyone else catch Lilian Garcia announce AJ Styles as being from "Gainsborough, Georgia" on RAW this week? I know she's a lovely person and her dad is sick, but God she fucking sucks as a ring announcer. Have her turn heel and manage someone if you want to keep her around. Put her with a heel Dolph or something.

Man, I really wish Eugene had dumped the special needs gimmick at One Night Stand '06. He could have been a tremendous face (in ECW) or heel (RAW or SmackDown).

Mr. Nerfect 05-25-2016 08:10 AM

I had no clue the Intercontinental Title used to have a purple strap until reading the lovely weekly column by Mathew Sforcina over on Gerty's website.

It brought genuine emotion out in me as well. Namely disgust for whoever in creative sent them out there to do that angle. Also pity for Ric and Charlotte having to suffer through airing something as legit as that in public when they clearly weren't comfortable doing it.

And it does matter if it comes out perfect or not as well. Otherwise Roman Reigns is gold on the stick because screw the fact he stumbles on his words and repeats himself.

Ruien 05-25-2016 05:29 PM

I am sure Ric and Charlotte were okay with doing it. Regardless, I found it boring.

Simple Fan 05-25-2016 08:42 PM

I know, not really a fan of the way he's speaking right now either. Basically Jeff swantond him off the top of the the titantron and now he's obsessed with putting an end to Nero (Jeff) since he returned.

Volare 05-25-2016 08:47 PM

Surprised he hasn't tried a TNA version of "Mattitude 2.0" or some shit.

Dude was cool when I met him at Secret's Cabaret in Fayetteville NC with Shannon Moore....we did a couple shots, shook hands and that was it.

Simple Fan 05-25-2016 08:51 PM

Kind of had something like that when he was TNA Champion. Had the Matt Hardy Brand as he called it with him, Reby, Rockstar Spud, and Tyrus carrying baby Maxel.

Smackdown has seen its ratings drop during the season, and the move to a live Tuesday format should avoid that strong night on television. Observer on some of the possible reasons behind the push to make Smackdown a live show and TNA possibly being the biggest loser in the end.

Quote:

* Smackdown will air live in UK as well
* The Women's Division will be on one show (Alvarez). Speculation is Smackdown.
* There will be a draft, most likely the July 11 RAW. (Alvarez)
* A lot of NXT wrestlers will be called up (Alvarez)
* Each brand will have a champion (Alvarez)
* Vince is said to be "really pumped up and full of ideas" and going on a very aggressive talent signing spree. (Meltzer)
* Only one Tag Team Title. (Alvarez)
* No word on brand specific PPVs
* Meltzer is estimating RAW will have a roster reduction of around 40% - half, then made up by talent called up from NXT/new signings.
Some updates to the Brand Split news according to the Observer and F4W. In regards to the "each brand will have a champion" part, Observer teasing the WWE is planning on bringing the World (Big Gold Belt) back.

MELTZER: There's a disconnect here because the talent wants to sell. You know that? They all want to sell, and they're told not to.
BRYAN: That's the directive now. This is a performance the fans pay their money for, and they wanna see you do all your stuff.
MELTZER: Yeah, they're told not to sell. But if that's the case, then why are the announcers still talking about selling injuries?

From a recent Observer Radio show about a new directive from Vince/management in regards to wrestlers told to stop "selling" injuries and moves to a degree during matches.

I guess that would explain Sami Zayn to me then.

It's mostly likely just me but I've noticed he doesn't really sell that much, and only yesterday I was wondering why.
