Thoughts?

I picked Toronto to win the division and I'm convinced that I, like much of the media, jumped the gun on this team. It was a shiny new toy, a brand new "super team" but they just aren't playing up to their reputations, especially the pitchers now in the AL East. Can this all be attributed to Gibbons? Can team chemistry be expected to not develop over more than spring training and a month of baseball? Gibbons probably shouldn't be fired already and I have no idea who they would hire as a replacement since they hired Gibbons in the off-season because he seems a lower-tier manager anyway.

Triple Naitch 05-05-2013 11:00 AM

Toronto needed an older manager who has an experience of coaching a high amount of talent and getting them up to their potential. John Gibbons couldn't even get Shea Hillenbrand to cooperate.

So far mine futures bets are still looking pretty solid.

Toronto UNDER 89 wins
LA Angels UNDER 91.5 wins
Texas OVER 86.5 wins
Detroit OVER 92.5 wins

All 4 are on pace to meet those projections. Obviously mad long season but it's reassuring that at least ~30 games into the season I'm not wildly off.

And fuck yeah Tigers finally had one of those "rub your balls all over Houston's chin" type games. For a team that so many are penciling in to the AL Central title, they don't have a whole lot of dominating wins this season.

Droford 05-05-2013 03:25 PM

The o's are close to 25% of the 79.5 wins they were projected to win. My biggest complaint is of their 32 games counting today, 20 of them have been on the road...

that's neat

Ermaximus 05-06-2013 11:20 PM

MCCANN IS BACK! :D

ClockShot 05-06-2013 11:22 PM

Had him for fantasy but dropped him because Napoli has been a steal so far.

Ermaximus 05-06-2013 11:25 PM

The only person we need back now is Beachey. Him healthy and in the rotation, and Medlen out of the rotation would be absolutely amazing.

Emperor Smeat 05-07-2013 01:02 AM

Walk-off win for the Red Sox tonight. 3 game losing streak over.

Hanrahan still stinks as a closer. Managed to injure himself again though.

Bad News Gertner 05-07-2013 04:45 AM

Jays come back from 7 down and beat the Rays with a 2 run shot in the 9th by Arencibia off Rodney. Amazing game!

Nicky Fives 05-07-2013 09:44 AM

hopefully the comeback win gets the Jays going.....

Frank Drebin 05-07-2013 04:10 PM

After a super team gets built, they usually suck for a bit, then turn it on. (See Angels, Tigers recently. Marlins don't count) The goofy thing are the injuries to Johnson and Reyes. That hurts.

ClockShot 05-07-2013 04:18 PM

Well Frank, what about last year's Red Sox?

Innovator 05-07-2013 04:35 PM

I feel bad for Halladay.

Well ClockShot, that is your best comparison to this years Blue Jays team.

My talking point is injuries to these super teams and the Red Sox were decimated by them last year. Games played:

Ortiz - 90
Middlebrooks - 74
Crawford - 31
Elsbury - 74
Youkilis - 42 of 71 games before being traded.

....and thats not even getting into Gonzalez playing in only 123 games with an injured wrist and Beckett and Bailey being down for good parts.

A couple more injuries, and the Jays will officially be on the path the Red Sox were last year, except the Red Sox had a more talented lineup to begin with.

Triple Naitch 05-07-2013 07:53 PM

2011 Red Sox was the super team. Anybody who had a clue knew Bobby V was going to run that team into the ground.

Droford 05-07-2013 09:40 PM

Desmond Jennings got a triple off j.a. happ's head

Frank Drebin 05-07-2013 10:53 PM

Did it go "boink" or hipster "boop" ??

Frank Drebin 05-07-2013 11:35 PM

I wonder if RP noticed Travis Wood's pitching performance tonight.

Droford 05-07-2013 11:48 PM

O's just a single measly game out of first

The Condor 05-08-2013 12:09 AM

No run support tonight

Bad News Gertner 05-08-2013 12:24 AM

Jayssssssssssss

Evil Vito 05-08-2013 12:31 AM

Best pitching performance I've seen live. Matt Harvey is just outstanding.

Kinda glad in retrospect that he gave up a hit. Would have been gutting to see him have to leave after 9 perfect innings but it wouldn't count as a perfect game because of lack of run support.

The Condor 05-08-2013 12:55 AM

Just saw the JA Happ play. Think he was bleeding out from his ears. Can't be good

Frank Drebin 05-08-2013 01:03 AM

That's just raspberry jam.

The Condor 05-08-2013 01:05 AM

Only one man would dare send him raspberry...

OssMan 05-08-2013 02:13 AM
