Rewatched the entirety of “The Smoking Room” and it’s still mint. Only downside is the obese thing in it. I’d have bet any money she’d be dead by now.

road doggy dogg 04-22-2024 04:25 PM

Started a re-watch of House MD. Love this show

road doggy dogg 04-24-2024 10:38 AM

Shoresy season 3 release announced :D

May 24 here in Canada (Crave)
June 21 in the US (Hulu)

The Fraze 04-26-2024 06:20 AM

Tb1 is having his gf and I watch Fallout. The female lead, of course, is who has The Fraze's attention.

drave 04-26-2024 08:35 AM

She's like a newer version of Winnie from The Wonder Years.

The Fraze 04-27-2024 05:10 AM

The kid from The Wonder Years was one of a few that people said The Fraze looked like at that age. Also, the girl from Fallout is beautiful. Caught my eye when Tb1 had us watch Yellowjackets as well.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-28-2024 05:26 AM

I've finished Farscape. The two-episode mini series that concluded the show, 'The Peacekeeper Wars,' felt very 'Americanized;' a lot of the show's quirks had been sanitised for North American audiences. However, it was a decent send-off, even if there was a couple of cheap deaths ('You tell'em who their daddy is!').

I'm on to Shogun now. I've only watched one episode so far, but I'm all in. The actor who plays the Englishman reminds me a lot of Tom Hardy, which helps sell it to me.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-28-2024 08:31 AM

Shogun is amazing but you'll grow to hate it. Too woke for your critical drinker-simping ass.

Instantly quoteable.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch the actual show yet, though.

Seanny One Ball 05-01-2024 06:22 AM

Me either, might give it a bash tonight.

The Fraze 05-01-2024 06:35 AM

Episode 6 of Fallout had a lot of closeups on Ella Purnell's face and The Fraze was pleased.

I've got two episodes left. I've loved this series. Hiroyuki Sanada has been an absolute boss; a fantastic foundation that the show has been built upon.

It is only a limited series, but I hope they will come back to this world and tell other stories.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-04-2024 07:28 AM

Shogun is finished. Fantastic show; perhaps an early contender for show of the year. The ending threw me off, but I appreciate what they did.

I'm halfway through Shardlake at the moment. It is fine, even if the world building is a bit incongruent. Plenty of bigotry towards the physically deformed, but no racial discrimination in Tudor England. See the above show for how world building should be done.

Seanny One Ball 05-04-2024 11:17 AM

Do they call midgets “shorty” and all of that great stuff?

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-04-2024 11:53 AM

Crookback, and plenty of people crossing themselves.

The Fraze 05-08-2024 04:27 AM

Finished Fallout with Tb1 and his gf, it was "fine." Ella Purnell's face was The Fraze's main interest for the entirety of the season.

drave 05-08-2024 09:14 AM

How "into it" were you? Enough to theorize about shit? I GOT QUESTIONS MAN!

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-08-2024 12:54 PM

I still haven't watched the second half of Shardlake; I'll get to it soon. Most of my viewing has been watching the Giro d'Italia, which will keep me occupied for the 2.5 weeks.

I have, however, been re-watching a 4-part series that I haven't seen since it was broadcast back in 2008: The Devil's Whore. It stars Andrea Riseborough, Dominic West, Michael Fassbender and John Simm. It is set during the English Civil War. If you like historical drama with a slight weird bent, check it out.

I also watched a few episodes of Spin City the other day. It still needs to get going, but Michael J. Fox is holding things together. Parkinson's is a bastard.

Seanny One Ball 05-08-2024 04:18 PM

El Vaquero watches the shows that your parents might watch so that you don’t have to

Seanny One Ball 05-08-2024 04:19 PM

How often do you actually watch Countryfile

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-08-2024 04:24 PM

I never watch Countryfile, you bastard!

I'm not sure if The Devil's Whore is for the Countryfile set.

Destor 05-08-2024 04:40 PM

Watching Baby Reindeer. Only 1 ep in but seems solid

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-11-2024 03:02 PM

I've finished Shardlake. It was ultimately something and nothing, and the story didn't need 4 episodes; it could have been resolved in a two-hour episode.

I'm going to finish The Devil's Whore tomorrow, and then I need to decide what to watch next.

Lock Jaw 05-12-2024 07:02 PM

Finished up the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Wasn't a great season but the finale was pretty good.

SPOILER: show
I liked the bait and switch of the Seinfeld finale and "fixing it".

Will miss the show.

Seanny One Ball 05-13-2024 09:21 AM

I’ll have to binge that ASAP

Frank Drebin 05-14-2024 07:12 PM

Would like to hear Destor and Seanny's thoughts on Baby Reindeer. Thought that was pretty riveting stuff.

Seanny One Ball 05-15-2024 06:24 AM

Doesn’t seem like my sort of thing. I’ll ask my elderly mother if she enjoyed it.

Destor 05-15-2024 08:24 AM

Riveting is the right word and i thought the finale was deftly handled

SPOILER: show
Going into it i didnt have any clue how you could wrap a show like this up. Life doesnt exactly tie a neat bow around itself but based on a true story does imply its fiction so perhaps they could pull it off. And i think they did.

When he's at the bar and we're given the baby reindeer backstory that sceen, without donnie speaking, play almost like "i understand and i forgive you." They really give her her due in that moment. Then the bartender offers him a drink and the moments that started the show repeat themselves. Saying "yes i forgive you but you permanently stained my soul." And that was a really sophisticated statement. He can choose to forgive her but he fails to forgive himself.

I also feel like they handled a trans chracter well for perhaps the first time ever. No one ever looked into the camera and told the audience what to think. It was meerly "i think hes hot and i dont care that hes a dude." Fair enough. Theyre still a bit bogged down by making the narrative surrounding the character about his transness but its getting much closer to a place where its simply just an underlying aspcet and not a plot point.

All that said every episode was very punchy and i always was left wanting to see what happens next. The acting was great and i think both leads should at least be nominated for emmys. Its a story so outrageous its hard to believe and then also it sounds about right. Really skirts that line. Extremely unique show in a ton of ways that will make it very memorable long term.

weather vane 05-25-2024 05:41 AM

Tires was an easy watch.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-26-2024 07:51 AM

I've finished watching the late 1990s/early 2000s satirical show, Brass Eye. It is absolutely ruthless. You couldn't make this show today; it's too close to the bone.

I'm currently watching the first season of The Good Wife. I like it, though I don't know if it is because of the show, itself, or because Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi are absolute foxes.

road doggy dogg 05-28-2024 01:31 PM

Just binged through that Shane Gillis show on Netflix, Tires. Fell a bit flat for me (ha ha, tire pun). Through the six episodes there were probably about 3-4 jokes that gave me a pretty good laugh, but overall felt a bit disjointed. First season stuff. I'll probably check out season 2 whenever it comes out

OssMan 05-30-2024 06:00 AM

road doggy dogg 05-30-2024 11:51 AM

Watched first episode of S3 of Shoresy last night. Amazing. The walking competition the b'ys did was peak.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-30-2024 12:18 PM

I've started the final season of Star Trek: Discovery. The Michael Burnham character remains one of the most irritating, sanctimonious individuals that ST have ever created. I thought Janeway was a pain, but Burnham takes the cake. The identity politics ideological lecturing also persists, but at this point, I've learned to just roll my eyes when they indulge in it. I'm just going to get through it, and then never watch the series ever again.

I'm also coming to the end of season 1 of The Good Wife. I like it enough to continue on to the next season.

road doggy dogg 05-31-2024 10:55 AM

I hear so many polarizing/negative things about Discovery. Fiancee loves everything Trek so I've watched a few episodes with her. There was an early episode where they were like "Do you want to be remembered as other visionaries such as the Wright Brothers or Elon Musk?" and it felt really hamfisted and stupid lol

drave 05-31-2024 11:34 AM

I watched the first few episodes of it when it first started. I'm a Star Trek fan (not a fanatic, but love TNG, DS9). A lot of it definitely felt forced and they weren't shy about it. Made it rather cringy and moved on immediately.

El Vaquero de Infierno 06-21-2024 05:33 PM

I have now thankfully finished the final season of Star Trek: Discovery. I hope never to watch that bag of wank ever again.

I'm coming to the end of season 3 of The Good Wife. I'm also rewatching season 3 of The Boys before starting the new season.

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-13-2024 06:17 AM

Tour de France is taking up a lot of my viewing at the moment.

I am also onto season 5 of The Good Wife. The show seemed to have a tonal/style shift in season 4. It's neither better nor worse, just slightly different. I can't really explain it.

Lock Jaw 08-03-2024 02:32 AM

Just because, I watched the last season of Pokémon. Final 12 episodes with Ash. Weird at how he can still be 10 years old after so much journeying around the world.

Was some wholesome stuff... traveled with Misty and Brock the OGs again, as was fitting for the final episodes....

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-03-2024 02:39 PM

I'm on to the final season of The Good Wife. It feels like it has lost its way now, but remains stronger than you would expect it to be. I think that is down to the change in tone/style in season 5, which gave it a spark life. However, that has now waned. I'll probably watch its spin-offs, The Good Fight and Elsbeth.

I've nearly finished fourth season of The Boys. It has been kind of something and nothing.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-04-2024 11:39 AM

I need to re-watch season 1 of GOT: House of the Dragon, before I start season 2.

The Critical Drinker has also recommended a show, set in 16th century Korea, about samurai and zombies. I feel like that will be a winning combination.

Seanny One Ball 08-05-2024 06:21 AM

I watched that Alan Carr comedy about growing up the other night. Surprisingly good, but then Alan Carr is undeniably funny. I’m just amazed they found a kid ugly enough.

drave 08-05-2024 08:27 AM

Watched The Last Samurai again. 7/10 because of Tom Cruise's middle tooth.

Destor 09-10-2024 01:37 AM

Started Kaleidoscope. Watched 1 ep. I'll stick with it but i strongly dislike there being a random ep order for each viewer. The idea of it annoys me.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-10-2024 02:59 PM

I finished The Good Wife, and I'm now on the final season of The Good Fight. I've liked this spin-off series, even though the seasons during the Trump administration leaned hard into the Trump Derangement Syndrome and far-left identity politics. At least they explored the issues inside out and refrained from too much lecturing. However, I don't think this spin-off will age as well as The Good Wife, due to the identity politics.

Once The Good Fight is over, I'm going to watch the other Good Wife spin-off, Elsbeth, which is apparently like Columbo.

I re-watched season 1 of the GoT: House of the Dragon, and then proceeded to watch season 2. Whilst the second season remained watchable, it seemed to meander for much of it. Hopefully, season 3 will have more impetus to it.

Destor 09-10-2024 04:17 PM

I made it through like...20 min of HoD s1.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-10-2024 04:38 PM

I also tried to watch Those About to Die, but I didn't go beyond the first episode. It was just naff: the script, the acting, the pacing, everything.

If I want a good Rome-related drama, I'll stick to Rome, I Claudius or Spartacus.

Seanny One Ball 09-13-2024 11:16 AM

Bad Monkey is good, watch that.

Seanny One Ball 09-13-2024 11:18 AM

Binged a show called “Mr Inbetween” a few weeks ago. Brilliant.
It’s an Australian crime comedy about a hit man and each episode is twenty minutes long and tighter than I thought possible.

I recommend it to everyone.

It's simple and doesn't break any new ground, but it's done so well. The series is the best show I've seen in awhile. I'll have to go back to the bollocks that is La Brea until I discover something else.

You're behind the times, son.

Also, I don't think I ever went back to La Brea.

Seanny One Ball 09-14-2024 11:06 AM

It was tits. One of the most satisfying programs I’ve seen in years.

Seanny One Ball 09-14-2024 11:09 AM

House Of The Dragon was fairly shit, season one a lot less so than season two but it’s not great. Paddy Considine deserved some support that could live up to his qualities, he was a man amongst amoeba. Season two lacked any gravitas at all, Matt Smith is dreadful.

Seanny One Ball 09-14-2024 11:10 AM

Second season of Beavis and Butthead is good. Good to see the guys again.

Frank Drebin 09-20-2024 08:14 AM

Been watching Heels since it went up on Netflix. I'm invested enough to keep watching. Now I'm understanding why Stephen Amell got some actual wwe matches a while back.

drave 09-20-2024 08:46 AM

Trying to get through Horizon: An American Saga part 1.

it's 3 hours, at least on Max. It's a LOT like 1883, and there's even some of the same actors in the movie.

I get why they shit on it in theatres. There wasn't a TON of advertising. They moved it to Max quickly in hopes it would get exposure and parts 2 and 3 will do better in theatres.

Gotten about halfway through it, it's pretty good.

Frank Drebin 09-26-2024 07:09 AM

Watching the Mr. McMahon doc. Halfway through and other than a couple of moments here and there, I haven't learned anything new. Been more of a "history of wwe" than Vince. Yeah, they're asking him questions like how he felt when X left for WCW but I'm watching to learn about Vince, not relive the Monday Night Wars.

Big Vic 09-27-2024 09:13 AM

Forgot that came out, sucks to hear it's underwhelming.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-28-2024 05:35 AM

I watched the Franklin series with Michael Douglas, which was fine. Douglas was good in it, but otherwise, it was something and nothing.

I've also finished Elsbeth. I found it rather underwhelming; a poor man's Columbo.

I'm currently watching season 5 of Arrow. I'm sure I've already seen this season, but I don't mind rewatching it before moving on to season 6. Felicity Smoak remains ridiculously hot.

I'm deciding whether I should finally watch The Ring of Power. The Drinker has ripped that series to shreds, and I trust his judgement on these matters.

Destor 10-02-2024 05:34 PM

S5 of Arrow was when i stopped watching it. When the billionaire driven to vigilanteism due to rampant government incompetence and out of control crime started proselytizing about gun control and as mayor enforced a gun ban on an entire metropolitan, while might i add having a crew of vigilantes two of which actively used firearms, my eyes rolled so far back into my head i nearly had a seizure.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-04-2024 12:54 PM

The preachy, ham-fisted gun control episode was tiresome, but I largely ignored it.

Destor 10-04-2024 05:43 PM

It was just jarringly tone deaf to the shows own premise. Any other setting id have groaned and rolled my eyes.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-17-2024 04:00 PM

I'm coming to the end of Arrow season 6. I've quite liked this season, even if it has featured a lot of Katie Cassidy, who can't act for shit.

I re-watched season 1 of Fargo. I'd forgotten how good the first season was, and how much fun Billy Bob Thornton had in it. I've started the second season, which I remember not particularly liking the first time round. I don't think I've seen seasons 3 onwards.

I'm thinking of re-watching The Expanse, until it is time for the second seasons of The Silo and Arcane. I also need to watch The Penguin.

Destor 10-17-2024 05:17 PM

Fargo is so unreasonably good. Chris Rock season was meh

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-20-2024 06:11 AM

As I needed a dystopian fix, I decided to try out Snowpiercer. I've watched the first three episodes and I'm enjoying it. We'll see where it goes.

joshwoodsrohfandm 10-23-2024 02:34 PM

DOUG (90s TV Channel on Pluto) best thing ever !!!!

Doug is so relatable

Lock Jaw 10-29-2024 01:05 AM

All caught up to present day on Superman and Lois..... Season 4 definitely feeling weird via them axing all the main cast sans the main Super-family..... the supporting cast has shown up, but not in every episode, and sometimes some show up and you wonder why others wouldn't be there....

Have also noticed a distinct rise in flashbacks... I guess with a slashed budget and only so many actors to use you have to stretch it out....

But overall S4 has been good I guess... obviously some v emotional moments... and badass Lex Luthor....

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-30-2024 06:18 PM

I'm at the beginning of Snowpiercer season 2. I actually quite like this show. It is nothing special, but it keeps my attention, unlike series 7 of Arrow. Not even the hotness of Felicity Smoak can keep my attention on what is going on in that show. I've finished season 7, but I don't think I'll bother with the final one.

McLegend 10-30-2024 08:57 PM

First half of season 7 was strong with Oliver in jail, and the best crossover. The 2nd half with his sister really put a damper on that season.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-31-2024 02:03 PM

Yeah, I liked the first half.

Lock Jaw 10-31-2024 02:51 PM

Same, first half I remember thinking "Arrow is good again, cool"

Seanny One Ball 11-09-2024 10:51 AM

Bad Monkey was very good. One of those sun set lazy detective deals with a strong comedic base and some very light black patches that tease the “Fargo” fan inside.
Rob Delaney is excellent in it, especially at the end.

Seanny One Ball 11-09-2024 10:55 AM

New season of WWDITS is pretty sweet too. I think the first three seasons were so funny that season four got away with being a bit pants without too many people noticing.

drave 11-12-2024 08:03 AM

Penguin wrapped up. Brilliant show, I'd watch it again. Still can't believe that Colin Farrell is playing the lead. I never would have known if there weren't credits.

New Yellowstone started. Giving it a few weeks to simmer so I can binge it.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-18-2024 01:05 PM

I binge-watched an eleven-part documentary on Star Trek over the weekend. Roddenberry seems like he was a right arsehole. Otherwise, very interesting.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-25-2024 12:56 PM

I've finished Snowpiercer. While I found the first two seasons interesting and entertaining, from the start of the third season onwards my attention started to wane, and by the end of the show I really didn't care. I only kept watching because I have inappropriate (but legal) thoughts about Rowan Blanchard. I also came to the conclusion, at some point in season 3, that none of them really deserved to survive.

I've started the mini-series, The Regime, with Kate Winslet. It is supposed to be some form of satire, but everything seems to fall flat. I'm only two episodes in, so perhaps it will improve.

I couldn't wait for Xmas before watching season 2 of Arcane. However, I will wait until I've finished it before giving my thoughts.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-01-2024 04:52 AM

I abandoned The Regime after episode three. Blah.

I've reactivated my Paramount+ subscription on Amazon, and I'm getting my Taylor Sheridan fix. Rewatched season 1 of Lioness, and I've now started season 2. I'm waiting for all the episodes of Landsman and Yellowstone to come out before watching them.

As I have my Paramount+ subscription, I'm also revisiting the 'proper' Star Trek series: TNG, DS9 and Voyager. I'm on season 2 of TNG (I skipped season 1 as it is atrocious), and the handful of episodes I've watched thus far have had better acting, character development and script than Discovery, Strange New Worlds, Picard; combined.

Lock Jaw 12-02-2024 09:26 PM

Damn..... just got emotionally wrecked at the Superman & Lois series finale.... during a really emotional/sad movie scene I might let one manly tear drop.... but during this thing I let down several damn tears.... def not manly...

Further spoilers... about events during the season.

In the course of the season Doomsday ripped out his heart and killed him.

Sam Lane later sacrificed himself against Doomsday so that his heart could be implanted into Superman and bring him back. It worked and Superman came back but he now had the human heart of a 62 year old.

As a result he wasn't as strong and was told he would eventually lose his powers entirely and age as normal

I watched this a couple of weeks ago and it was an excellent back story for the Penguin, I got annoyed at how quickly into it that I saw the ending coming but besides that and Milioti being weird with food it was great.
It’s as dark as Batman material can go really. If they had gone further it would have been absurd. They hit just the right amount of “what the fuck”.

Running through Futureman again, Wolf is pure comedy

Seanny One Ball 12-11-2024 01:13 PM

“Dune: Prophecy” is pretty good so far. There is some questionable acting at times, in fact some of it is downright awful but the world they have built is undeniably interesting and great to look at. I just hope they open the whole thing up and milk the franchise as it should rightly have been by now.

I just hope they open the whole thing up and milk the franchise as it should rightly have been by now.

Ragnar Loethbrook is the best part, so far. I've just watched 3 episodes.

3rd episode was crap, 4th episode much better.

Desmond Hart is the “missing link” of Dune by the looks of it. Didn’t know we were heading towards worm worship.
