When did you suddenly become such a mark?

The dumb fucks at WWE.com can't tell the World and WWE Tag Team titles apart.

I could see a few releases coming up soon.

They need more heels. Could be a good time for LEO KRUGER. Could come out and praise the dentist that killed Cecil the Lion.

I thought the gimmick change was 100% in conjunction with the main roster jump.

Not necessarily. I ranted before about how WWE squandered that push. They even got the win over New Age Outlaws in something similar to how Dogg and Ass got their first win over LoD... and nothing came of it. They were back off tv because who the hell knows, and getting even a "fluke" win over a veterain team on a PPV led to nothing afterwards.

That's when they were screwed.

Their vignettes were so fucking lame and the minute you have JBL burying them on their first appearance, they were done. It doesn't help that neither of them are particularly good either.

It seems a necessity at this point. The Royal Rumble and Andre the Giant Battle Royal highlighted just how much deadwood there is on that roster. Personally think they could do with trimming some of the fat from NXT as well (Angelo Dawkins, I'm looking at you)

I think there are guys with potential but they need to get out WWE and re-establish themselves elsewhere in the way Luke Gallows has.

There was nothing markish about that at all. Just said they could have actually done well if not for the garbage they were told to spew on the mic. THAT was when crowds started shitting on them.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-17-2016 01:11 PM

Probably. And while I never like to see anybody lose their jobs, I'm especially rooting hard for Adam Rose. I don't find him to be particularly good at any one thing but the Behind the Curtain ESPN NXT special makes me root hard for him. Not just the long road to get out of development but the fact that he has a young son who was born with a serious defect and has already had a handful of surgeries. Just really sad.

Evil Vito 04-17-2016 05:19 PM

Snippets from a Ryback interview:

Quote:

On His Frustrations: “I’ve heard in this business hard work doesn’t always pay off. So maybe The Big Guy has to go find another world where that does pay off. But you work really, really hard at something and you dedicate yourself, and you sometimes have to be told you’re somewhere else. That’s a tough pill to swallow time and time again but I’ve never stopped believing in myself and I never will. Next year should undoubtedly be a big year for The Big Guy.”

Was He Happy Being on The WrestleMania 23 Pre-Show?: ”To be quite honest, absolutely not. The last 3 WrestleManias have not been great. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on that but it would’ve been nice to have been on the show where both of us belong. The US Title definitely belongs on there. Hopefully next year, if there is a next year, that it will be a better experience.”

On Wanting Back in The Main Event Scene: “Absolutely. And that is what each and every day I go out there and prove my worth and that I am a one in a lifetime WWE Superstar. I am The Big Guy, the best big guy in the world and there is nobody like me. But I will continue to plug away and be the best version of me each and every day and hopefully at the end of the night, I’m where I belong.”
Add him to the list of people frustrated with their current position. I can't say I blame him all that much considering they've stop-started his pushes so many times. Probably won't ever get past this current level and it seems like he is aware of that.

Don't really agree with the frustration of being stuck on the WrestleMania pre-show though, especially this year. In the Network era I really don't see why the pre-show is still stigmatized. It's still aired on the Network and this year on USA. And they gave him a one on one match for a belt. Would he seriously have preferred to be on the main card and just be awkwardly shoehorned into the IC Title ladder match where there isn't much he could have done, or just be thrown out by Baron Corbin in the battle royal?

Ruien 04-17-2016 05:29 PM

He was on the pre pre show. He wrestled in front of an empty crowd. He believes he should be in the main event scene and he was put in that slot. I don't blame him for wanting better. At least the IC ladder match was in front of fans. Has Ryback even been on TV since?

Ultra Mantis 04-17-2016 05:38 PM

Ryback vs Kalisto is a Superstars match and shouldn't have been slated for Mania in the first place. Not that it's the fault of either guy or anything, the entire midcard and half of the main event aren't even over.

Ruien 04-17-2016 05:47 PM

Exactly. Ryback does have the ability to get over but he isn't at all. It is like they made an effort to make him stale as hell. I would be pissed if I was him too.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-17-2016 05:50 PM

both guys could be over if properly featured on television and not given completely limp dick wins or distraction losses all the time.

Emperor Smeat 04-17-2016 06:02 PM

Don't blame him for being upset at the US title being seen as just a pre-show worthy match after how much the WWE constantly blabbered about wanting to make the title better.

Once Cena was no longer the primary focus, the belt quickly went back to being irrelevant.

#1-norm-fan 04-17-2016 06:08 PM

Last year WWE decided they were gonna make the IC and US titles prestigious as fuck and we came out of WrestleMania with John Cena and Daniel Bryan as the US and IC champions.

One year later we came out of WrestleMania with Kalisto and Zack Ryder holding those same titles.

Gotta love that commitment.

Didn't stop them from calling up Roman. And that isn't a "shit on Roman for the lulz", because he still isn't ready, and he's now a 2x world champion. Big E wasn't ready when he got the call, either. I personally don't think Baron is quite there yet, and they actually took time to groom him before main rostering him- and for his sake, I hope I'm proven wrong.

They would have done well to have a mouthpice. Need new managers in the world. Paul E can't do everything. Hell, since Linda is nowhere near senate, bring back AW.

As for being buried from the booth, it *could* have gone better if instead of that culminating in that "legends tag team reunion/beatdown of the goofs", that they actually attacked him. Hell, Lawler did shit like that up until his heart attack. JR got beatdowns for heat, too. Cole took an ass whoopin' from Lesnar. And let's not forget that incident that got Daniel Bryan "fired". Even being a former wrestler, JBL can believeably be taken out by two guys.

Instead, he got to shit on them with zero reprocussions.

Mr. Nerfect 04-17-2016 09:39 PM

I really have no fucking clue what you should do with The Usos. They're so void of any personality that all these teams are completely outshining them. I think they're good choices for Gallows & Anderson to beat, but then what for them?

Ruien 04-17-2016 09:42 PM

. Maybe flank Reigns in a feud to help even the odds/give the main heel some 1 on 1 victories.

Heel turn now that the New Day are the big faces of the division and a couple of other teams already are or soon to be more popular than the Usos on the face side.

Either they get corrupted like Rollins did and try to convince Reigns to be Authority's Corporate Champ or start to resent Reigns for not helping out family the more they keep getting attacked by Gallows & Anderson. Already been established they've helped Reigns a few times in the past whenever he had problems.

Lock Jaw 04-17-2016 10:30 PM

Usos were great and can get over.... they have personality....

They were "huge" when they were feuding with The Shield and The Rhodes Bros and then their subsequent title run....

Injury derailed them and they still haven't quite recovered.... Haven't found the groove again....

Do you not think though, that's its because they haven't moved on at all? Like they were over because they were exciting in the ring, but now everyone has seen their stuff and the personality hasn't come on or evolved in any way...

I still don't know who is who, and I don't think I am the only one.

Simple Fan 04-17-2016 11:05 PM

I like the Usos and really thought that their journey to the tag titles was great, they didn't rush putting the titles on them. They are the most credible tag team in the division in my opinion. New Day are great but will split eventually, I don't see the Usos splitting ever. Really they just need a strong program with another team that doesn't feel forced like the Dudleys feud did. Maybe a heel turn would work for them.

Emperor Smeat 04-18-2016 01:36 AM

Supposedly someone claiming to be the same person as the big WWE insider source from r/SquaredCircle is teasing on Twitter a major debut will happen during tonight's RAW show.

Location-wise, the debut would make sense but the tone of the person's tweets doesn't feel the same as the former Falcon dude from Squared Circle which is where the doubt about its validity is coming from around the net.

slik 04-18-2016 01:46 AM

who do u think it will be @smelly_meatball_ladyandthetramp92

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 01:58 AM

I've never been too big a fan of The Usos. I would have liked to have seen them get the titles off Cody Rhodes & Goldust, leading to The Rhodes Brothers turning heel sans the Stardust bullshit. I think a lot of the problems have been addressed with them. They've been a bit sloppy in the ring, their act is the same every week, we've seen all the spots, their promos are a little annoying, you can't really tell them apart as humans, and there are so many more interesting teams around.

More so than a heel turn, I'd like to see them go to NXT to recharge their batteries for a bit. Their run is getting pretty tired, so let people nap on them a bit and bring them back when you NEED that babyface team. I wouldn't even mind them getting a short run with the NXT Tag Team Championship and giving Gable & Jordan something to chase again.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 02:00 AM

I don't think Ryback is long for the company, to be honest. He's had a twelve fucking year relationship with them at this point. I know people are big on him because of his look, but they've beaten all meaning out of him. Unless they bring him back in a mask as a legitimately scary dude, he's about done. I'd have him slip on another banana peel with Kalisto again and write him out.

Still a fucking idiot for doing that running knee in the corner in fucking Chicago and the nap-time pose. Way to get people to shit all over your rebuilding phase, bro.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 02:01 AM

Kalisto vs. Ryback - US Title - Mask vs. Career. There you go.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 02:03 AM

Maybe Ryan Reeves could go to Japan and become really awesome? There are a lot of guys on the current main roster that could use a stint over there, I think. They're just missing that "intensity" or "charisma" to attach to their "moveZ." So many guys look like they are coming from a video game. Sending some of these guys away to get smarter in the ring and piece it all together better could ultimately be the best thing that's ever happened to them.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 02:21 AM

I've just gone through and looked at pictures of a lot of the guys in the Global Cruiserweight Series. Does anyone know anything about Jack Gallagher? The guy looks like he'd be a good signing if he can go in the ring.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 02:28 AM

I've got a feeling they might put the US Title on Corbin as early as this RAW. Dolph Ziggler can challenge him at Payback, do the honors, and Corbin might get some steam up ready for Apollo Crews or something.

They really don't need both the IC and the US Title. I would actually be quite invested in a potential Cesaro/Corbin unification deal, and I'd be biting into it, because I love Cesaro so much.

They could do Mask vs. Mask. If Ryback wins Kalisto loses his mask, if Kalisto wins Ryback is forced to wear a mask!

I still think both midcard titles have a place (the US belt basically being the tertiary European Title) if WWE were to write meaningful storylines for them. But of course, they won't.

If they bring back the brand split in some form as is the rumor I bet they split the midcard belts apart again.

Fine with me. Ryback could get a handler. Zeb Colter, for instance. That dude is so good at talking, he could take Ryback from chickenshit and turn him into chicken salad.

I heard a funny story on MLW Radio where Court Bauer and, I think, Alex Greenfield were talking about how Vince wanted Vito to challenge Batista for the World Heavyweight Title on a "season premier" edition of SmackDown. Good times.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 09:46 AM

Speaking of guys taking shit gimmicks and making them gold: How about Paul Burchill as the pirate? He owned that shit. If they had brought up Katie Lea to be his wench, it would have been US Title level.

I've got a feeling that the whole "Shane McMahon is working" thing is going to lead to another brand split. It seems asinine to split everything after they fucked up the last one, they have a three-hour RAW, they only unified the World Titles at the end of 2013 and brought in a new Women's belt and I doubt they can co-ordinate one set of champions cross-shows without diluting one of them, but I think they might actually do it.

And come to think of it, Charlotte could easily lose the Women's Title to either Becky or Sasha at Extreme Rules in a Ladder Match (my pick is Becky) and still claim to be the undefeated Divas Champion and take that title to SmackDown. Seth Rollins could return as the lineal (not really, but in WWE's continuity sake's) WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and be crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion of SmackDown or something. He'll be the preferred choice to Roman Reigns and look amazing on that show.

So many players would benefit from the split. Seth Rollins gets another World Title run, Becky gets to be a babyface away from Bayley, Zayn and Owens don't get overexposed in their feud, Strowman and Rusev can be monsters on opposite sides, Natalya can get a novelty run with one belt without fucking up the obvious Bayley victory moment, Harper can return on the opposite show to The Wyatt Family and be a killer, etc.

GD 04-18-2016 10:02 AM

If it weren't for the brand split, guys like John Cena, Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Kofi Kingston, CM Punk, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit etc. would've never attained the amount of success that they did.

Evil Vito 04-18-2016 10:03 AM

I think a brand split with the champions all being cross-branded could work just fine in theory but I doubt WWE would execute it properly. I'm imagining Reigns mostly working on Raw, feuding with say Chris Jericho. Then that feud ends and he happens to start something on SmackDown and then starts showing up there more frequently. And when Reigns isn't on Raw, they make the IC Title feud going on a focal part of that show along with focusing on non-belt related feuds.

That's actually how they ran it during the early days of the brand extension, in fact they outright said back then that Raw and SmackDown would alternate #1 contenders so it made sense that the floating champion didn't always have to be on both shows even though he technically could.

But again I have my doubts that WWE would do that. Raw would need a larger roster with the extra hour to fill and I'd bet Vince is just of the mindset that the World champion always needs to be on Raw. So that would mean re-splitting the belts which is an idea I just can't support now.

Mr. Nerfect 04-18-2016 10:04 AM

I'm thinking about starting a hypothetical brand split thread. How we would go about splitting titles, one World Champ or two, whether the ladies and tag teams are spread out or together, where does Ambrose go, etc. I think they should do it, and I think I have an idea of how. I think it helps fix a lot of depth problems, actually, despite conventional wisdom probably being to the contrary. I think it spurns on proper usage of some good workers who currently are kind of flopping or at least takes the pressure off them to compete in the same sphere, and compete more parallelly...if that's a word (Sheamus, Rusev, Del Rio, The Colons, The Dudleyz, The Usos, Bulletproof, The Vaudevillains, Cody Rhodes, Kalisto, etc.).

But again I have my doubts that WWE would do that. Raw would need a larger roster with the extra hour to fill and I'd bet Vince is just of the mindset that the World champion always needs to be on Raw. So that would mean re-splitting the belts which is an idea I just can't support now.

That's my thing. I totally get the idea of one World Champion, I do. The thing is, if you want them to be separate entities -- completely separate entities -- why would they recognise another's World Champion? And if you have them write separately to create the idea of competition, then how do you go about rostering champions?

You could do something where one month RAW gets the World Champ and SmackDown gets the Women's Champ -- an attempt to make them equal -- but you box yourself into month-long programs. Having two "World" Champs creates a dynamic where each show has a top guy that gets to carry house shows and such, but isn't pressured with carrying the whole company. And that worked fine until they decided to have two World Champs on one show. That's when that shit became too much.

Having two separate shows where the idea is to get hot over the other brings everybody up, and I do think that requires complete isolation. You have your guys and gals, and we have ours. May the hottest program headline. RAW can focus on the RAW stars and champs, and SmackDown can focus on SmackDown. Plus, you can then go back to having Money in the Bank feature two Ladder Matches, which means that you don't get 8 guys that are too big for it in one match. The Rumble gets some mystique back as guys that don't usually fight end up fighting. King of the Ring can not feel not like it's excluding a whole bunch of guys that should be in it, etc.

I respect the shit out of Hassan for how he handled his post-WWE life. I mean he was pretty much the biggest heel and the company and then had to be written off through no fault of his own. And rather than try to repackage himself, he just went out on a high note because he knew he'd never be able to get something as over as what he already had.

The thing about a brand split is Raw is always going to be superior. If they made Smackdown a lower level brand like a step above NXT I think it could work. Don't think it needs,a world title either. Maybe even brand it something else besides WWE Smackdown. Maybe bring back the WCW name and run it as a separate brand along with WWE and NXT. Or make Smackdown live 3 hour show.

slik 04-18-2016 01:27 PM

It doesn't have to be. During the early days of the brand split, Smackdown was argueably the superior brand. Over the years, for whatever reason, they just stopped trying, and smackdown became a secondary show.

GD 04-18-2016 02:47 PM

There was a period during the late '00s when Smackdown became the elite show again. It was clearly better than Monday Night RAW at the time.

TNA might be screwed beyond repair if the rumors of who the new investors are ends up being true.

TNA's supposed to make an official announcement very soon and according to F4W/Observer, the Harris Brothers and their company is likely the investors picked. TNA had two options with both wanting control of the company but the Harris Bros company already had experience running TNA last year.

What might have swayed the decision to go with the Harris Bros is Dixie likely keeping some control of the company which the other investors might not have wanted (and everyone else in the past who was interested).

Quote:

Ron & Don Harris, twin brothers and retired wrestlers who've worked for ECW and several other companies as the Bruise Brothers and WWE as the Blu Brothers and Grimm Twins, currently are officers of Nashville-based Aroluxe. That marketing company likely fronted the money for both the last and next Impact tapings in Orlando, and it's believed they or a company they own are the third-party firm which took over production last year when TNA had issues paying their staff and crew.

The hold-up reportedly remains Dixie Carter's insistence in retaining a 51% share of the company. But without any backing from Panda Energy and little upfront money in their contract with POP TV, it's said debts are mounting and Carter will have to do whatever is necessary to secure more financing.

That includes selling control of the company to Aroluxe. More news, one way or the other, is expected in the next couple of days.
http://www.cagesideseats.com/tna-imp...tential-buyers

For some reference, last time the Harris Bros were brought in, they ended up not caring about how late paychecks were and their idea of solving any potential issue was to threaten people with firings.

Quote:

A seemingly good week wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for TNA Wrestling apparently, as The Sporting News is reporting that the company is behind on production payments yet again.

During a production meeting on Thurdsay, Ron and Don Harris passed down information that checks for the company's May tapings wouldn't be out until at least July 25. The Harris Twins recently returned to the company and were put in charge of the TNA production team.

The Sporting News says that The Harris Twins said "If you're not happy, just shake our hands and walk away." After a period without payment last year, several production team members refused to work until they were paid.

"I don't blame (the Harris Twins). They're back after 10 years and don't know what's going on," one long-time production employee told the site. Another said "It's the same old TNA bullsh-t."

The standard in the industry is to pay freelance production workers within 30 days of service. This is at least the third time in the past year it's happened with TNA.

From what I've read the company the Harris Bros work for Aroluxe has an opportunity take over control of TNA if TNA doesn't make a payment that they agreed to. At that point Aroluxe would probably sale the company to make up for the missed payment. So Aroluxe is not really an investor they are just footing the bill for Impact and expecting to be paid later.

Aroluxe is the company that former pro wrestlers Ron and Don Harris (then known as The Bruise Brothers) have been involved with. It provides TV Production, social media management, media buying, web management and other services to clients.

The word that has made the way around TNA performers in the past week is that a payment to Aroluxe is due imminently (one version of the story is that the payment is due today, another is that it is due Wednesday) and that based on TNA's contract with Aroluxe, if the payment is not made, Aroluxe would then be able to claim majority ownership of TNA Wrestling, leaving Dixie Carter a minority owner. We have not been able to 100% confirm that but that version of the story has made it's way around a big portion of the company's roster over the last seven days.

So, where things stand based on what we have heard appear to be going in one of two directions - TNA reimburses Aroluxe and things remain at their status quo or Aroluxe takes over the reigns of the company. It would appear that should the latter happen, Dixie Carter would remain in some capacity, although what this would mean for the remainder of the TNA officials, staff, roster, etc. remains up in the air.

It should be noted that there have been others interested in TNA in the past and even in recent weeks, there's been talk of multiple interested parties), but Carter has previously turned down all sale offers. Depending on how the week goes, she may no longer be in that position.

According to the Observer, if TNA can pay off the money owed in the terms, Dixie will still keep majority ownership and control of the company (51%). Also her even having a chance to remain as majority owner is all dependent on if an investor will either allow it to happen or not change their mind whenever official paperwork starts. At the moment, Harris Bros would only act as temporary majority owners from whenever a failed payment happens till TNA pays it off.

Now, Ross believes that TNA is at a critical spot where certain members of management have to give up control in order for the company to stay afloat.

“Apparently a new investor or buyer is at play for the struggling company,” Ross said. “Without significant, live event revenue, and a viable, PPV component in the revenue mix it will not be surprising to hear of any pro wrestling company being in financial peril. I hope that the eventual fate of TNA is much different than those within the company and others close to the matter are saying. Nonetheless, it is somewhat obvious that the next few months are going to be crucial in determining the future of the company.”

Ross added that he thinks a complete overhaul of the company’s brand and image would be necessary to be successful in the U.S. wrestling industry.

“As I’ve said before, it may be best for the company to re-brand themselves and move on from the public perception that the brand currently has in the marketplace. New name..new philosophy..new approach to their presentation based on the talents that they have to work with on a regular basis,” Ross wrote.

"I'm really happy that Cody got to hang out with (AJ Styles). AJ's one of those guys that don't drink, don't do drugs. Like the Young Bucks. But here's a case, and Triple H can go any amount of time you want him to go. But what needed to happen on this, just to make Roman, because if you're going to let Roman go over clean in the middle of the ring, shine him up like a million bucks. Let him bounce Triple H all over kingdom come. Finally, let Triple H just get a frog's hair of heat on him. And then boom, big finish, bam, 1-2-3. Make an impact with that match. Make an impact with the finish. And make a statement for the kid! It's about getting this kid over and at least within the confines of the 20 x 20, being the ring, and then you've got all the other things to deal with, whether it's people resent him or this, that, or they think he [has] been pushed too hard too soon. You're trying to make Roman Reigns. I don't think you make him in a 28-minute chess match. This match needed to be all about excitement, explosion, and testosterone out of Roman and that's how I think they should have booked it. Making Roman Reigns work this long exposed more holes in his game than we've already known that exist."
