Bill Watts seems to tell tale tales in his interviews.

He claims he was supposed to beat Bruno and get a short run with the title back in the early 60's.

He claims it didn't go down since he was served with lawsuit papers right before it took place.

imo though his UWF was some of the best tv ever in 1986-1987.

a pre-bells palsy Jim Ross was absolutely amazing on commentary.

Watts was part of one of my all time favorite angles.
-WWE should do this with Rusev and a top babyface.

WWE Network's WWE 2k15 roster reveal

Heyman and a few other people were also teasing the date on Twitter.

Yeah, I was entirely too hopeful that something awesome was gonna happen on Raw after those hints.

You need the direct link to the image and not the link to the page or else it won't show up as an image.

Emperor Smeat 09-23-2014 05:39 PM

The links from Postimg never worked?

Jura 09-23-2014 05:57 PM

Actually, I think they may have changed some of the letters in that link so it may have initially worked but it has never showed up for me. Also if you do the "Open image in a new tab" on Chrome the link has different letters as well.

Emperor Smeat 09-23-2014 06:19 PM

Going to switch to Imgur from now on whenever I need to host a wrestling gif.

The original source for that gif was from a place that was set to download or not show up whenever its linked.

I love JR and respect his opinion but the idea that a 1970s approach to wrasslin would work today is ludicrous. I also disagree about the match structure. The current in ring, bell to bell action is as good as it's ever been, and the current champion is a legit, even old school like draw. This whole "doesn't know the business" bs is just that.

Yeah because the way they do it now, they draw such a huge audience. 2.9 last week, 2.8 this week. WCW when it was shit, was doing better numbers than that.

Innovator 09-23-2014 08:57 PM

I have Minoru Suzuki's theme in my head

#1-norm-fan 09-23-2014 08:58 PM

A full-on 70's approach wouldn't work today. But the basics needed to build up characters over time remain the same.

As far as the matches, I don't see why anyone would care. Why is a great technical wrestling match appealing if it doesn't matter worth a shit? I'm not saying every match needs to be part of a specific storyline. But when neither character has a direction to the point where the outcome doesn't matter because there's no consistency in how "strong" either guy looks, why does it matter who wins? And if it doesn't matter who wins, why should anyone care about the match at all? I'd rather watch a 2 minute squash match that tells the story of a monster working his way through the roster on his way to the top than a 20 minute "technical masterpiece" between two guys who are gonna look like shit next month... then suddenly be strong for a month... then job the next... then suddenly get pushed again...

Dirtsheets:

This week’s WWE Raw rating is in, and wrestling’s flagship show delivered a 2.69, which is the single lowest number of 2014. As we reported earlier, this week’s viewership was actually up by a bit more than 1%, but WWE had to be expecting a much better final number with the return of Dean Ambrose, an advertised main event between John Cena and Randy Orton, and Monday’s show being the night after a PPV.
In terms of viewers, it ranged between 3.79 million (9pm) to 4 million (8pm). For comparisons, its between 200k to 1/2 million lower than last year's post-Night of Champs show.

Heyman may not have appeared because it appears WWE hasn't figured out Lesnar's plans for Hell In a Cell yet. As of this morning, another John Cena vs. Lesnar match for Hell In a Cell was not planned.

There was no word on any planned Hell In a Cell matches coming out of RAW either.

F4Wonline.com reports that WWE creative was changing and re-writing last night's RAW as it was on the air.

While WWE stock and Wall Street as a whole had a rough day on Monday, WWE stock is back over $14 per share this morning. Yesterday's drop may have had to do with financial analysts labeling WWE stock as a "sell" due to concerns over WWE Network subscriptions.
Speculation right now is the Network is tanking badly in the US to the point its likely to be higher than around the 130,000 they lost last time and might not even balance out with the new subs (WWE only gained around 76k overall).

Fignuts 09-24-2014 01:13 AM

Fuck, really hope the network doesn't get cancelled. When you consider the content, it's really one of the most awesome things to happen to pro wrestling.

How are more people not buying this?

They are cheap bastards and wwe is overselling it to embarrassing levels.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-24-2014 01:24 AM

I think JamesSteele should close the stream thread if anybody uses it anymore.

Very unlikely the WWE is going to shut down the Network although whatever they were planning or expecting from the US is probably over. International subs should easily keep it afloat for a while.

A lot of complaints seem to be mixed between the lack of original content, WWE being slow to upload certain stuff or fix things, and current WWE stuff not being interesting enough to sway people to sign up or stay.

Disturbed316 09-24-2014 05:11 AM

I love the Network, easily the best money I spend every month.

GD 09-24-2014 05:27 AM

Would be a total mind fuck if Eddie Guerrero returned as the Bunny.

screech 09-24-2014 05:56 AM

The Network is the best. I do wish they'd make the video player less laggy, though.

Still the best use of $10. I watch it every day.

Agree with this 100p. Can't they not do that because of TV contracts or some piss, though?

Hanso Amore 09-24-2014 08:34 AM

Honestly for 9.99 it's a good deal but I don't buy it because fuck, I don't want to watch the pay per views.

I'll subscribe around royal rumple time so I can do the rumble and wrestlemania.

As for old content I really only want to watch wcw from 85-99 and that not all there yet from what I can tell.

Ecw doesn't appeal to me because I have seen all the events numerous times and it's always weird, disjointed because you miss some of the booking.

Would love to watch wcw Saturday night for a full year in the early 90s to progress with the booking.

Evil Vito 09-24-2014 08:59 AM

My initial network subscription had expired and I didn't renew right away since I didn't have time to watch, got it back before NOC. Going to start watching more stuff on Monday nights since I doubt the WWE product will interest me again until January.

I have dozens of Nitros to catch up on. I do wish they'd have caught up with Raws of the same time period so I could watch the Monday Night Wars head to head.

I didn't get it for many reasons.

1.All the WWF/WWE/WCW/ECW ppvs I want to see I already own.

2.Don't really give a shit about modern WWE so seeing the current PPVs means jack to me.

3.The one show on the Network I would watch,I can just watch on Hulu for free.

4.Got a data cap.

No one wants the network because the current product is shit. Pretty simple.
