Finally, one last thing which has been sort of on my mind over the past few seasons. When Clark finally does make the jump to Superman, it will obviously be the end of the Smallville series, what would people think about having the same cast/crew to work on a Superman series?

Inevitably it would end up being like the Lois and Clarke series about 10-15 years ago, but i think the way that they have made the current Clarke Kent in this history it would be something totally different because events have obviously happened so far which makes it differ from the Lois and Clarke series.
I mentioned this a long time ago. I think a new Superman series with the current Smallville cast [Or at least a few of them] would be pretty awesome.

Tom Welling says season ten will be huge, and he hopes Lana and Lex will both come back. He'd love to see Clark walk into the Daily Planet and see Lois and Lana talking. In fact, he wants Pa Kent back, along with Ma Kent and Perry White. And he says the tights are a possibility. He also sounds like he's not totally sure this is really the last season.
It seems Welling's desires aren't too far from ours. While Lana and Lois were on the same show before, Lois was a bit player back then. Now that she's so important to the show, a plot having Lois and Lana crossing paths would be epic. Especially since Lana was becoming a 'shady' character in her last days and she could play an 'anti-Lois' when she returns.

Pa Kent would be awesome. And Ross for that matter.

McLegend 05-21-2010 10:23 PM

It should def end with him Superman after he saves Lois he then drops the famous "Statiscally speaking flying still is safest form of travel."

Then it can end. It probably won't end like that :(

Also, wasn't the mantra at the beginning of Smallville "No tights, no flights"? lol.

Kalyx triaD 05-25-2010 11:37 PM

That was ten years ago.

Jeritron 05-25-2010 11:38 PM

You can only go so long in life without tights and fights. This applies to television characters as well

McLegend 05-25-2010 11:38 PM

Yeah the motto is stupid now.

Anyone that has stuck around wants to see Clark as Superman.

Jeritron 05-25-2010 11:39 PM

I really can't wait for the next Batman. Now that Lost is over I need something to look forward to.
Hardly any good big blockbusters coming out this summer, or next really.
2012's summer is going to be wild.

Jeritron 05-25-2010 11:40 PM

Would I like Smallville? I'm in the market for new shows. I mean going back and watching too, not just jumping in.

Lock Jaw 05-25-2010 11:41 PM

The whole "no flights" thing is especially ridiculous. I could buy it before, because its not really something he would think he could do.

But then Kara comes in, is flying all around. Kandorians come in, are flying all around.

So Clark KNOWS this is something he should be able to do. Apparently, it should be quite easy too since all these other Kryptonians can do it within seconds of getting powers with no practice.

McLegend 05-25-2010 11:41 PM

You can easily jump in. It's not hard to follow or catch up on.

However you probably wouldn't like it.

It makes Clark look like a fuckin pussy that he can't fly. Mind you Clark as always been a pussy until recently, but it really drives it home.

Captain America? Green Lantern? Thor? Fuckin Avengers?

...Smurfs?

Jeritron 05-25-2010 11:53 PM

Pretty much just Avengers and Batman 3. Those are potentially the last two big payoffs in the comic movie boom. Pretty huge.
On the other side of the coin, the 80 million dollar yet 3D, high school reboot of Spiderman is coming out. It would be nice if it didn't suck, but I think that will start the shark jumping of the trend.

JJ Abrams' next Star Trek is coming out that summer and although I'm not much of a Trek fan, I loved the last one and am really interested to see what's done there. Should be great.

Jeritron 05-25-2010 11:56 PM

I don't have very high expectations of Thor, but it should be decent. That's really all I'm looking for really, is a decent movie that sets him up well for Avengers.
Captain America I have higher expectations for, because setting him up well and making that movie hit will be a big factor in whether or not Avengers flies high.

This should be in the other thread, I suppose, but we've digressed to it.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2010 12:08 AM

I have a feeling that Thor and Cap are going to suffer from being "Alright! Let's set up The Avengers!" rather than "Let's make a great Thor/Cap movie."

Kalyx triaD 05-26-2010 12:11 AM

I don't know, the Thor guys sound fairly passionate about it, and the Cap production would be that way by design (just look at the title).

Here's hoping for a behind the scenes doc on the Avengers production on the Iron Man 2 DVD.

Announced today at Time Warner's investor showcase, Turner Broadcasting chairman and CEO Phil Kent confirmed that Cartoon Network will soon air an animated series based on the DC Comics hero, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Already set for a big screen debut with Ryan Reynolds in the leading role for a June 17, 2011 release, "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" (which will air the year after the movie) will be the first time the character has had a solo TV spotlight after years of appearing in series from "Super Friends" to "Justice League Unlimited" and even "Duck Dogers."
More cartoons by DC are good than bad, so hopefully Green Lantern falls in the good category.

mitchables 05-27-2010 11:13 PM

be interesting to see if they go with hal or not. they probably will, since he is the primary figure in the comics again but i always liked jlu's john stewart. way more than in the comics.

also, hopefully they won't put an origin story in. between new frontier, first flight, and the upcoming live-action film, i think we've heard the tale of abin sur's death quite enough.

Lock Jaw 05-27-2010 11:56 PM

It'll probably be Hal. With the movie and all, they want to cash in on that. Though maybe they'll go Corps style and just have them all.

Lock Jaw 05-27-2010 11:57 PM

Or maybe it is a series about Alan Scott. :shifty:

Kalyx triaD 05-28-2010 12:02 AM

Word is The Flash and Wonder Woman are going to be greenlit soon.

Nolan Speaks About The World's Finest:

Quote:

What it is, while David Goyer and myself were putting together the story for another Batman film a few years ago - you know, thrashing out where we might move on from 'The Dark Knight' - we got stuck. We were just sitting there idly chatting and he said, ' By the way, I think I know how you approach Superman,' and he told me his take on it. I thought it was really tremendous. It was the first time I had been able to conceive of how you would address Superman in a modern context. I thought it was a very exciting idea.
Quote:

What you have to remember with both Batman and Superman, is that what makes those the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who those characters were when they were created and when they were first developed. And you can't ever move too far from that.
Quote:

My brother is working on the screenplay (Batman 3). We came up with a story that we are very excited about. We particularly like where we are taking the characters and what the ending is... There are things for me to be very excited about in addressing the characters again. But ultimately it always comes down to the script, and can we make a great film from this? That's something I will firmly be turning my attention to figuring out fairly soon. ...The finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story.
About the return of the a recast Joker:

Quote:

I just don't feel comfortable about it.
On possible crossovers:

Quote:

Marvel are doing what they do and people will respond to that really well, or they won't. It's not something I ever really applied a blanket rule to, but Marvel characters are very different to DC characters, and the key DC characters are very different to the minor DC characters. You've got to go back to that element of, 'What do I see when I close my eyes and think of Batman? What do I see when I close my eyes and think of Superman?' And for me a big part of that is their individuality. They are extraordinary beings in an ordinary world. And the reason I think the two are fascinating is because Superman is very specifically superpowered and obviously otherworldly; Batman is very human and flawed. They're two very different characters, but there's an elemental feeling of power in the iconography of those characters. To me that's originally because they stood alone. I need to hang on to that in my imagining of them.
Disagree but if it keeps him focused that's fine. It seems as though his run with Batman is coming to an end and with him not directing Superman, the next team may be more receptive to a unified movie-verse.

The three-man writing team that did work on the Green Lantern screenplay, Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, and Marc Guggenheim (see “Green Lantern Movie Gets Writers”), has been hired to work on a sequel to Green Lantern and on a movie based on the Flash, according to Hollywood Reporter. They will produce treatments for the two films, then proceed to write a screenplay for one of the two, according to the report.

Green Lantern is cast and shooting in New Orleans (see “Angela Bassett in Green Lantern”), but it’s very rare for a sequel to be begun before the first film is even completed.

The Flash movie, which DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns is producing (see “Johns to Produce Flash Movie”), is now moving ahead based on Johns’ recent comic work on the character. It will utilize the Barry Allen version of the character, according to the report.

Where's that journalist from? That happens all the time.

DC is grooming Blue Beetle (the modern one) for a live-action series (presumably for the CW). No idea where DC's sudden confidence in the character is coming from though it should be noted that DC/WB wanted a young male superhero on TV just a few years (the thankfully aborted Dick Grayson prequel series). Also consider they may be planning Smallville's successor (which, imo, was really the whole deal behind The Graysons and that Aquaman pilot).

It seems Blue Beetle is actually far along and may have a showing at this year's SDCC.

Lock Jaw 06-13-2010 11:09 PM

Quote:

On his Twitter feed, Geoff Johns just announced there are many plans in store for Jamie Reyes, the current Blue Beetle. Jaime will be appearing in "most of" the episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold this coming season, and even more exciting, there is a live action series in development.

Geoff reports that they have test footage of a transformation sequence that he describes as "awesome". He promises to try and get it shown at this year's CCI in San Diego.
I think his being popular on the Brave and the Bold cartoon probably has a lot to do with it.

I still like Ted Kord better than Jaime Reyes, but whatever.

Kalyx triaD 06-13-2010 11:21 PM

This is a 'force-feed' push, I'm thinking, going from cameo appearances to a live-action series just doesn't seem natural to me.

mitchables 06-14-2010 07:14 PM

yeah especially since they canned his solo title pretty early on, surprised they'd be backing him as the protagonist of a tv show now.

Kalyx triaD 06-17-2010 04:54 PM

"Lazarus" is the name of Smallville's 10th season premier.

Fignuts 06-18-2010 06:25 PM

The new Blue Beetle sucks.

In any format.

Margaret Weis Productions has added another game title with a tie-in to a popular media property with the Smallville Roleplaying Game, scheduled to release in August 2010.

Based on the CW’s TV series of the same name, Smallville focuses on super-powered action and coming-of-age drama. Players can take on the role of familiar characters from the series, such as Clark, Lois, or Oliver, or they can invent their own original characters and insert them into the world of Smallville.

The game uses an updated version of Margaret Weis Productions’ Cortex System called Cortex Plus, featuring the same core mechanics as its Serenity RPG and other products. Cortex Plus focuses on the character’s values and relationships.

The Smallville design team is lead by Cam Banks. The 192-page rulebook includes complete game rules and full-color interior pages. This will be a hardcover book. Suggested retail price will be $39.99. Stock number is MWP 1030.

Planned follow-up books include the Smallville High School Yearbook for October, and The Watchtower Report for December.

Talk about waiting too long to bring something out...

Wow.

Kalyx triaD 06-27-2010 04:56 PM

The animated sequel to Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is coming, and it's called "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse". It follows the second arc of the Superman/Batman series which introduced the modern Supergirl. Hopefully the classic voices return as it did with the first movie.

This makes Public Enemies the first of DC Animated's films to get a sequel.

mitchables 06-27-2010 07:46 PM

and kind of least deserving one tbh

D Mac 06-27-2010 08:22 PM

They need a Smallville video game.
