Didn't say Jane's creation wasn't good.
It's just his face. |
If they're going to put Punisher on the big-screen again, they should just work him into another property. At least for starters.
They should also use a new actor, but doing another solo movie would be a bit overboard. I'd rather see him as a secondary character in something, like Colossus is rumored to be in Deadpool. Or Nick Fury in the latest Marvel movies. His roots are in Spider-Man, but I'd rather see him as a tweener character in one of the Avengers off-shoots. Actually, if they have any intentions of making a Nick Fury/SHIELD movie, that would be a perfect place to implement him. |
Gotta agree with Jeritron.
I actually love the last two movies, but another movie, with another new actor etc would be overkill. But appearing in a Nick Fury movie would be a good move, or if Black Widow ever got her own one. |
His character would work perfectly if he had similar interests or objectives as SHIELD/Avengers, but wasn't working with them.
The type of deal where he keeps getting tied up in their missions, and is both in their way and helping them out. Eventually, they could come under one tent. |
Jon Favreau will not be returning to the Marvel Universe for a third Iron Man film, Vulture reports.
The article suggests that the choice was made at the director's discretion and that he informed Marvel Studios of his decision this morning. Though Favreau's reasoning is purely speculatory at this stage, it is likely that the director simply wishes to pursue other creative ventures. |
10 bucks on Brett Ratner coming in and making an awful movie
|
I don't think he liked the idea of having to do all the other Marvel stuff for Iron Man 3.
|
I agree. Seemed like they already did that to him with Iron Man 2
|
And that's nothing compared to what they want for Iron Man 3.
|
His strength was in directing Downey Jr. as a comedic and personal character anyways. The bigger the movies get, the less appropriate he probably is for it.
It seems like the Iron Man movies should stay that way, since the Avengers movies serve the other purpose. But Marvel obviously wants to get as much bang for their buck as they can. |

X-3 wasn't that bad, but Singer's X-men and the Spider-man movies set the bar so high that X-3 was a dissapointment,
|
I really enjoyed X-Men 3. The only thing I didn't like was that half of the original team were gone by the end battle. I mean, no Cyclops?! Jean was Dark Phoenix, and Rogue was gone.

Loving Spectacular Spidey right now. 6 eps. in and I'm feeling the story. Best Spidey cartoon, yes.
|
I'd honestly put Spectacular up there on the same tier as the holiest of holies itself (Batman: the Animated Series). I still haven't forgiven them for canceling it.
|
It made recapture my love for Spidey. Tempted to play Shattered Dimensions for Josh Keaton alone.

?

So.....what, is Scarecrow hopping over to Marvel?
|
It's the next big 'event', Marvel's saying it's as ambitious as Civil War. Details are otherwise thin.
|
I hate when that happens.
|
Sounds cool, but that poster is pretty lame. Bland artwork
|
Marvel already has a Scarecrow. Who is basically a rip of DC's Scarecrow and Ragdoll characters.

Marvel announced its Summer 2011 crossover event at a press conference at Midtown Comics on Tuesday. Fear Itself will premiere with a special extra-long prologue issue in March, followed by a seven issue miniseries launching in April.
Crossovers and special series will be at Secret Invasion scale, with miniseries and storylines in ongoing series tied to the main series. The prologue (with a story at roughly 45 pages) will be written by Ed Brubaker with art by Scot Eaton. The Fear Itself miniseries will be written by Matt Fraction, with art by Stuart Immonen. Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada promised that the series would be in a real world context in which “fear, above all else, seems to be the great motivator.” “It feels like there’s this great shadow over all of us,” Quesada said, “and reason and discourse have taken a back seat to fear.” The storyline will feature Marvel heroes vs. the god of fear. Tom Brevoort, who’s helming the event, promised that, “At whatever level you choose to buy in, hopefully we’ve built this in such a way that you’ll get a fulfilling experience.” |
The actor playing Spider-Man (or his stunt double) fell into an open pit at the end of the stage near the end of the performance of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Monday night, according to the New York Times. The fall was followed by a woman screaming and sobbing, according to a witness who spoke to the Times. The performance was halted and the injured actor was taken away in an ambulance “for observation,” according to a statement from the production.
Some equipment fell into the audience when the actor’s fall occurred, according to the report. The production has been plagued with problems with the stunts, both during previews (see “Spider-Man Left Hanging”) and during rehearsals. The show is currently in previews and is expected to open in February (see “Spider-Man Pushed Back”). |
"The God of Fear" sounds like a really lazy way to make a conflict that has parallels to the current world.
|
I remember around the time Batman broke his back there was this really awesome Scarecrow story with him trying to set himself up as the God of Fear.
|
Director Joss Whedon will begin principal photography on The Avengers in New Mexico in April and continue through September, according to Variety. Some shooting will also take place in New York and Michigan, according to the report.
The movie (with its all star cast, see “Movie Avengers Assembled”) will open May 4, 2012. |

So far, I can't see the event being as ambitious as Civil War with such a shitty premise. However, it is way too early. Maybe as details arrive my mind will be at ease.
|
Early hints at Civil War were literally "Superheroes fight each other, kids will love it." That's a silly premise that turned out awesome.
Anyway, some art from Cap's movie: http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...2/capa-art.jpg |
That is true. But..I felt Civil War had an awesome concept from the get go. We have all fantasized about who would win between superhero A and B. Maybe I am just not buying this one enough. Like I said, it is very early still and I am sure as details emerge I will be more into it.

88! Fuck me that guy still has the enthusiam of a ten year old in a toy shop! Good for him. :y:
|
Stan Lee lives up to his nickname. The man.
|
|
Dude who is playing Peter has an oddly shaped head/face.
Also looking mighty hobo with those gloves. |
Perfect.
|
He has a HUGE head and a small face to go with it.
Odd. |
After he leaves the Spidey franchise, dude could be the next Goku.
|
Pretty sure Parker's hair was never that wild.
Fuck it, I'm still bitter that they're rebooting it 4 years after the original trilogy ended. :foc: |
Parker looks like a good approximation of what a "nerd" looks like nowadays.
|
Nothing about this Spider-Man movie sounds good at all.
|
Perhaps you aren't reading the news right.
|
What was the good news?
I'm obviously there, but the casting isn't really enough to get me stoked. Parker and Gwen are pretty good casting. I think they went weird directions with the adults so far, but we shall see. What else has been announced? I'm very curious to see the costume |
I think the most disappointing news I've heard thus far is that they're taking it back to high school/origins.
Obviously I love the Spidey origin story, but even if it's told slightly different (Ultimates), it's still another telling of Spidey's origins in under 10 years. That feels uncalled for, especially since Raimi nailed that. Personally I would have liked them to go later into his life. |
I have a feeling the costume will be the same as the Raimi suit. Don't know why.
|
Well, it should obviously be similar since there's only far you can go from the actual costume on screen.
I feel like they could change some things though. The texture, the shape of the eyes, and the webbing. I loved the Raimi suit, but I wouldn't mind seeing them make the red and blue brighter, the eyes bigger, and the webbing darker. Go further towards the comic booky look. I bet they'll make it darker though. Everything in Hollywood needs to be "darker" now. |
Would love the mcfarlane eyes.
|
McFarlane Spidey is my favorite Spidey
|
That's probably part of why I want to see later in Parker's life covered in the movies. Some of the more mature years with his villains, and romantic interests.
I fully understand why they aren't though. The high school stuff, and the scientist villains make more cash. Eventually, maybe. |

Nice utility belt on the 70s tv Spidey
|
That fat Spidey is actually this guy in Madrid. We saw him 'perform'. He takes a break every 20 minutes where he lifts the bottom of his mask up and smokes a cigarette. He has all these hilarious poses, and probably makes close to 50 euro an hour.
|
Japanese Spidey was the best

I looked up that Madrid Spiderman.

I hope Spidey has a giant robot in this upcoming reboot.

Tis' a dream but a Spider-man 2099 movie would be absolutely fantastic.
Besides the early Ultimate Spider-man it was the last Spider-man comic I really enjoyed. |
Quote:
Doom 2099 was probably my favorite. |
Shame it will never happen.
Wasn't Doom 2099 written by Warren Ellis? great writer. Must look about getting some of the 2099 trades, if they exist. |
I don't know if they exist or not - I was in college/just out at the time and bought the issues as they came out. I think I have to go down to the basement and drag a few issues out after the kid goes to bed tonight.
|
I remember looking for the Spider-man 2099 trades a few years back, they weren't available then.
All the issues I had were in UK reprint mags and have long since gone missing. We moved house when I was about 17 and nearly my entire collection went missing! |
They have one Spider-Man 2099 and one X-Men 2099 trade out. I think they brought them out to go with that Timestorm 2009/2099 story they did last year.

That Cap costume looks fucking epic! Not too keen on the Spidey one. Pretty much the same fabric as the first movie, but looks like they tried to change it a bit for no other reason than to make it different to the original movie costume.
Looks okay I guess. I won't judge anything until I've seen the movie (which will no doubt rock because it's Spider-Man... fucking reboots though :foc: ) |
I actually really like the new costume. It looks a little more convincing as something Peter Parker stitched together himself. I do want to see what it looks like with the mask on.
The Cap suit does look really cool as well. |
The Spidey suit gives off an Ultimate Spidey vibe, I like it so far.
Cap looks like a fucking justice machine ready to put evil down. Love it. |
The Spider-Man and Cap suits are both great.
|
Cap's costume looks great.
Spidey's is pretty meh. |
I'd like the Spidey one more if the emblem wasn't so overly messy/ugly. I get what they're going for, but I think it can look a bit more definied than that patch of grease.
I'm curious to see the mask. Cap looks great. |
|
Nice package.
|
Holy shit that looks fucking incredible.
|
Yea that's pretty perfect
|
Looks good. I think Chris Evans will be fantastic in the role.
In the Spider-man pic, does he have mechanical web-slingers or are they sticking to organic? |
I've seen some blown-up closeups of Spidey's hands, and he's got the mechanical web-shooters this time around.

Cap looks fucking amazing.
Spidey looks alright, but like superman, I don't think there is any reason to change his costume outside of story purposes. |
I think one of the reasons people think Spidey looks so thin is because of the lack of the red around the waist.
I don't know why they'd get rid of that, other than to just simplify. The webbing on the red seems very minimal. I wonder what that will mean for the mask. I hope the mask isn't just a red hood with eyes and grooved but not colored webbing. It might be, based on the shoulder webbing. |

From left to right: Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert), January Jones (Emma Frost), Jason Flemyng (Azazel), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Lucas Till (Havok), Zoe Kravitz (Angel), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier). [Possibly fake] |
Looks fake. I hope it is
|
Agreed - hope it's a fake. Looks terrible for an X movie. Looks like the Mutant X show... which is not a good sign..
|
Emma Frost in bra and panties. Yeah, it sure as fuck is real.
EDIT: Ok, those are not panties. Still. |
Ridiculously fake, come on.
Also original webshooters confirmed, for spidey. Emma Stone let the cat out of the bag, and you can actually see them in that photo up there. |
Nightcrawler looks like he has a Kofi Kingston hair style in that picture.
|
It's not nightcrawler.
|
It's Henry McCoy. Probably why he's in the back, as just painting him blue doesn't make a good photoshop.
