Enslaved really wasn't that good though. The demo defo did not help.
|
The ending sucked. There were some graphical glitches too. Fun game though with great voice acting.
|
The point, as far as I gather since I didn't like Enslaved either, is how it did that bad and how a bad game did that good. Don't care for neither game, and it would be better to compare like-genres, but he has a point.
Anyway, why the fuck does it take so long for PS3 to download anything? Updates take a fuckin year. That's the only I didn't make my return to Metal Gear Online yet, and the same reason my bro hasn't played Killzone 2. We rather play Street Fighter 4 or LittleBigPlanet 2 than wait. |
Did Sega bother to advertise the game as much as Kane & Lynch was advertised?
Sega's more riskier games haven't been advertised well this generation which makes Sega upset and they start to blame someone (ex. Wii for Madworld). Then again, Sega bought a lot of "niche" quality developers so its not a surprise why they don't have any mega sales. For the PS3 question, that is more of Sony's fault since they didn't design PSN architecture as well as Xbox Live and while MS mostly takes care of everything on Live, Sony expects developers to handle stuff on PSN. They also charge by the bandwidth for almost anything put on PSN as well. |
Killzone 2's alright. Like the pace and the matches lasting a bit. Not sure why it's so uniformly dark, reminds me of Battlefield BC2 where I had to adjust visual settings in-game because the default look just seemed off. SOCOM's next, though I already played that last year. Now we wait for the update to load.

Killzone 3 beta is on PS3. Graphics are awesome. Gameplay takes some getting used to though.
|
May try that and the MAG demo.
|
A lot of places are saying the multiplayer is amazing, but the single-player has issues.
I've just got back into Timesplitters too hard to care. |

MAG is awesome though. Recently got the new expansion with three team battles. |
EA reveals more information for the upcoming SSX Deadly Descent game.
The Skate team is not working on the game but the game itself is meant to feel like "Burnout on snow". Also announced is a social system for the game similar to Need For Speed's Autolog, Survival challenges that need to be completed before your character's oxygen runs out or blacks out, and lots of short-cuts to be created in race tracks/slopes. The game is still on course for an early 2012 release and only for Xbox 360 and PS3. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...rnout-on-snow/ ------------------------------------- Microsoft confirms the HD remake of Halo 1 will arrive November 15 this year. Also announced is Bungie and Microsoft won't be working on the remake so its possible 343 Industries will be the one in charge of the project. |
Know what, I can dig a snowboard game with a Burnout influence.
Good luck to 343 Industries, they're playing it safe until they make their own Halo, I guess. |

of course nintendo will get top billing. that is the name that sells
|
Well Capcom has been pushing for one of its characters to be in a Smash Bros game and they don't want to upset Nintendo again. If it wasn't for them upsetting Nintendo with Resident Evil 4 going to PS2, Megaman would have been in Brawl.
If anything, the joking could have changed the development of a new Smash Bros since it was rumored to go on the 3DS and now potentially Nintendo could have NvC go on the 3DS and the new Smash Bros on the next Nintendo console. |
I would be disappointed to see NvC be 3DS exclusive. Some things need to be on a big screen.
And I think Smash could be fun on 3DS. |
Killzone 3 is awesome, until 75% of the other team is camping and uses the infiltrator class to show up green to you and the radar.
|
|
WHY
|
It doesn't even make sense, ffs
To my knowledge people in the game never carried pokemon balls inside their fucking arm. Is it any surprise that this was done by some moron in a "legalize" t-shirt. |
Body mod culture is fascinating.
|
holy cow the killzone 3 beta is good. unfortunately it feels just like battlefield, which means i will get sick of the running and clunkiness real quick
|
Just beat Suikoden, it was stupid.
|
Play Suikoden 2. And 3. And 5.
|
Go ahead and mail me Suikoden 2 cause I'm not paying $140 for it
|
Emulator.
|
The first thing it asked me when I loaded it on an emulator was "Do you want to import data from Suikoden 1." I'm not gonna let my recruitment of 100 shitty characters who did nothing go to waste if I can actually get something out of it.
|
|
i'm sure you can download a 100% save file to import
|
|
Is it a big spoiler or what
|
not really. i haven't played the game so i don't know what the name means.
in fact if you didn't have all 108 people then there is no spoiler since you won't get it |
Also please tell me they improved the shit where you have to get a certain guy to get a world map, and how it takes 30 minutes to switch armor between people.
|
Oh I didn't get all 108. I fucking hated that asshole anyway. Would never leave my party. Was so happy when he died.
|
they improved the shit where you have to get a certain guy to get a world map, and how it takes 30 minutes to switch armor between people.

The new You Don't Know Jack comes out tomorrow. I'm probably not going to get it until Friday (no release day delivery from Amazon :(), but I am so hyped for this game I cannot contain myself. No one gives a shit, so I'm not going to give its own thread, but at least I'll put the Giant Bomb Quick Look here in hopes that I convert at least one person.

I love YDKJ multi-player. I've got The Ride lying around my flat somewhere and I had the British specific one.
|
Quote:
I've got a copy of every American version of the game (mostly pirated, admittedly). I ordered the ones I couldn't find off eBay a long time ago), and I've got the one British version too. I'm not obsessed enough to get the German versions, at least. I made a buzzer system for the PC, but it breaks constantly. Gonna remake it soon with the parts I took out of my SFIV stick. When it works, it is awesome. But I happily pre-ordered the 360 version of this one so I could just use controllers this time around. |
wow that game looks fun. can't believe i watched the whole thing. guess this means i have to get it

People Can Fly studio announced that their Call of Duty parody called Duty Calls reached over 1.25 million downloads on the PC for the first week. To celebrate, the company has released official wallpapers for the parody game at Bulletstorm's Twitter account.
The parody game was meant as both an attack on big FPS war games such as Call of Duty series and Medal of Honor series and as part of viral marketing for the upcoming Bulletstorm game. The company is very happy at the positive response to the parody but won't be making Duty Calls into a full game in the future either. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...ion-downloads/ |
Cool. Not interested in Bulletstorm, though.
|
YDKJ looks amazing... Is it available in the UK?
|
Dunno about this one, but only one before it was officially released in the UK.
The Ride that I had I bought off a pirate CD store while on holiday in Malta  |

And Amazon shipped out my copy yesterday (!) so I'm getting it tomorrow. Ungodly excited. Really interested in the DLC model too, since I would figure it would be pretty easy to make new fairly topical episodes like they did online for free a few years back.
|
PS3, PC and DS will be region-free. Wii won't be, 360 might be.
|
Could anyone tell me if this is a decent stick?
http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Fighting-S...7184891&sr=8-1 Getting it specifically to work with this: http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Co.../dp/B003711698 |
It's "good enough". My stick's a Hori and almost the same as that and it's totally fine.
Won't always give you the precision you need to play at a ridiculous tournament level in SF, but for playing MAME or something, it's fantastic. |
Today is a good day. They just announced The Darkness II. Hell yeah!!!
|
Yeah, getting it for MAME, not really fighters.
Glad to know. :y: |

Before the closure, Hudson US was pushing for a revival of their fighting series but lack of time and money ended any hopes of the revival. Konami expected to be the publisher now for Hudson games until the Japan branch takes over or collapses completely. |
They were going to revive Bloody Roar? Seriously?
|
From the documents released by the company in charge of the liquidation and selling off assets, the US branch of Hudson had the plan for the revival about a year or so after Street Fighter IV was able to revive the fighting genre.
Apparently, Hudson US didn't bother to inform Hudson Japan of the revival plans which explains why no funding or attempt to make the game. |

melty blood

Why is that not on current consoles? Now is the time to be busting out the fighting franchises.
|
To be fair, it did have the most boring, shitty character design ever.
|
Didn't Melty Blood come out for-
THAT was Arcana Heart 3, my bad. A lot of fighters coming out from little known devs. At least two in the last two weeks were announced. But very few are being ported to consoles, and even then they could be Japan only. |

Also, Kalyx, what was that free fighter you posted a while back that was made with a free online engine or some shit? |
I think that was Vanguard Princess.
|
Yup, that would be it.

Kotaku had a preview for the upcoming Duke Nukem game and ended up with both bad and good feelings from the experience.
If compared to modern shooters, the game itself feels very shallow and "bare" against what people are used to Halo and CoD type games for gameplay. The game stands out a lot compared to current shooters (including Bulletstorm). Their main complaint ended up being stiff animations and bland controls. If compared to classic style Duke Nukem and the tone of the series, the game itself is very fun and true to its roots. It also keeps the action well and over-the-top like in the previous games of the series. http://betacache.gawkerassets.com/as...nf_vegas_7.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5755039/duke-nuk...ying-spectacle --------------------------------------------------------- EA trying one last attempt to salvage the disaster of their horrible last quarter by announcing NBA Jam will arrive on the iPhone in the near future. The mess EA did with NBA Jam managed to upset a lot of people and might have killed off the revival of Jam as a franchise. Also confirmed to kill off any chance of sales picking up for Xbox 360 and PS3 (and Wii) with the new cheaper iPhone version. |
Fellatio shitstorm
|
Yeah, pretty much what I expected.
I never thought duke nukem was that amazing as a kid. Preferred doom and it's creepy atmosphere, and disturbing imagery to Nukem's cheap low brow humor. So the nostalgia thing, has no bearing on my opinion of the game. Always liked the theme song though. |

Duke sounds like exactly where I want it to be, shallow as fuck. I used to play FPS for a quick laugh and blast which is why I never got into CoD or Halo but totaly adore Timesplitters.
|
I've been trying to think of a good way to say exactly what Hasney said. FPS games need to be more like DNF or TS. None of this "serious business" brown and grey generic marine/army guy stuff.

R.I.P. DJ Hero. :'(
|
|
yes, it's been covered in the thread titled "guitar hero doa"
|
Could honestly care less about Guitar Hero now, but DJ Hero getting scrapped so early on makes me sad and angry.
|
I'm sure Rock Band will incorporate a turn table in RB4, probably backwards compatible with the DJ Hero peripheral.

Would be a nice full circle kind of thing, but the brand is sullied - stay Rock Band, I say.
As was said I'm more hopeful of easier music deals. Perhaps even Metallica track packs. |
Atari releases screens for the upcoming Yar's Revenge reboot game that is now a 3rd-person rails type shooter than what the classic Atari 2600 game was in gameplay and style.
Since Atari hasn't said much about the story for the reboot, its expected to have almost nothing related to the original game. Atari is using the series names as a selling point instead of creating a new series or IP for the game. The game is still set for release on PC, XBLA, and PSN later this year. http://betacache.gawkerassets.com/as...enshot_002.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5757034/its-defi...hink-i-like-it ----------------------------------------------------- Activision announces lower sales expectation and hype for the next Call of Duty game saying sales and interest will be lower than Black Ops. |
fucking fuck
what about that other dj game? now that dj hero is kaput, can they go ahead with their product? |
That shit sucked, dude. Don't hold your breath. DJ Hero, functionally, had no peers.

Kinda glad I never caved on one of those cheap DJ Hero controllers at BB. I played enough to understand that fun could be had, but past that I didn't think it was worth it in the long haul.

I've been noticing that the boxes for video games seem alot flimsier than they used to be. What is going on with the quality of the boxes? Has anybody else noticed that as well?
|
It's an environment thing. It's been happening for a while. I've noticed it more with 360 than Wii, though.
They, of course, also have those new boxes with parts of the plastic cut out. |
