Not sure how anyone can say this was the worst thing they've seen in a while. It wasn't great and each act is less interesting than the one before but it wasn't total shit. Bad Boys meets Lord of the Rings. Showed promise but overall "meh".

The Last Jedi - 7/10

I'm not a big Star Wars person but I liked it! It took big risks with narrative/character (imo) and it will age well (imo).

Far more interesting narrative wise than its predecessor. Took some risks and went in directions I wasn't expecting. But I loved it.

Felt like Rian Johnson gave JJ Abrams the middle finger with a lot of reveals.

"Coherence"

This movie basically just raised a bunch of questions and had no intention to answer them at all, but that wasn't necessarily bad, was a fun watch with a few other ppl to kinna throw around some ideas bout what's hapnin, spitballin, brainstormin, everyone having a good time.

again. Wonder if I posted it in here in 2009 first time... LOVE THIS MOVIE... so bleak.. seemed way less dystopian/more realistic than it did when I saw in 2009. Truly truly brilliant.. so many moments where there's something real quick going on in the background that makes everything seem shockingly "stark"... truly truly brilliant... fuck the white dreadlock

The one shots are technical marvels

I remember the first time watching it and not even realizing the "one shots" for a bit because I was "too sucked in"..... only after awhile did I go "hold on a second, when was the last time it cut?"

Dirty Grandpa - 4/10

Seriously, Robert De Niro, are you that broke?

Oners are my fav things. I was prob half way into the first oner when i realized just how complicated the shot was...and then there were more...and more. Just blown away by how ace SO MANY moving parts were. Outstanding.

just wacthed Y Tu Mama También... spent years thinking this movie would be stupid but it turned out to be good, real good. Also similar to children of men where whatever the 3 heroes or whatever are experiencing, like whatever dumb convo, they're very much removed from what's going on outside of their car.. poverty, war etc.. (children of men director mentioned this in commentary) felt like I could identify with this

Trainspotting 2 - 8/10

Very solid. Love Robert Carlyle and Johnny Lee Miller.

Justice League - 6/10

I'm a sucker for superhero movies, so I kinda enjoyed it, even though it wasn't very good.

I like Affleck as Batman, which is something I never thought I'd say or type.

He's pretty good in the role. Hopefully he'll sign on for the upcoming Matt Reeves project

I think it's confirmed he's in it.

Kalyx mentioned a rumorsite that claims he and Cavill have signed contract extensions. One can only hope. Loved the last 2 Apes films. Third one was amazing. Excited to see Reeves' take on Batman and I think Affleck in the cowl would just add to it.

Creep 2 - 2.5 out of 4. I liked the first one better but this was ok. Minus .5 star for a solid minute of naked Mark Duplas floppy weiner.

Really dig his unstable character and the minimalist take but a lot of the fun in the first movie was not knowing exactly what he was up to even though you damn well know where it's headed. 2nd one that mystery isn't there since you know what his deal is.

Bon Cop Bad Cop 2 - 8/10

I enjoyed it. I don't really remember the first one too much, but I think this one was maybe "less concerned" about "being Canadian" and was instead just being a buddy cop action movie which happened to be in Canada.

Shape of Water - 9/10

For some reason I liked this. Maybe it's the beer talking anf rating but I had some laughs watching this.

Enemy - 6/10

Dr. Strange - 7.5/10 - Great movie, in the upper echelon of modern superhero movies.

Mother! - 0/10 - What the fucking fuck was that?

Moviepass #30 All the Money in the World 6/10
Couple of points
1 - there was a decent an interesting story. But it just kinda fell flat and was at times boring
2 - can't imagine Kevin Space in it after seeing Plummers performance. Spacey probably did the movie a favor.
3 - Michelle Williams almost had a performance worth of an Oscar nod..

Hateful Eight - 7/10

Solid Tarantino affair, really enjoyed Sam Jackson so I moved onto....


The Samaritan - 5.5/10

Enjoyable. But aside from Sam Jackson and Ruth Negga, the acting is bad. Watch out for Luke Kirby, bad actor.

Paddington - 4/10

Dunkirk - I fell asleep. Thought it was going to be more engaging. 2/4 I dunno.

Damn, I love war movies and already got this downloaded. Hmmm.

Maybe I missed all the best parts while falling asleep.

The cast is pretty sweet. I have no idea who Fionn Whitehead or Tom Glynn-Carney are but you got Tom Hardy, Kenneth Brannagh, James D'Arcy, Cillian Murphy and Mark Rylance.

I thought it looked amazing, especially watching it in IMAX film format..... but I did find the actual story a bit lacking. Like he was so busy and concerned with making it look beautiful that he forgot to put much effort in the story.

I know people who love the movie, though

Try not to watch Dunkirk on digital. The IMAX sequences are cropped out. Takes you out of the experience.

25th Hour - 7/10

Molly's Game - 9.5/10.....really liked it. Kinda like poker, so that got me interested. Had a good story and I never once looked at my watch. Lost half a point as the plot was weak at some points and a couple scenes seemed forced.

Passengers - 7/10

I enjoyed that. A few plot holes, and a little predictable (nothing wrong with predictable as long as satisfying).

I put it on after trying to watch Valerian. Neither of the two leads in Valerian have anything going for them and are both detestable. Switched off after 25 mins, so it gets a 0/10 from me.
