Triple A 06-03-2022 09:37 PM

looking at results, there has been some form of a new day vs. sheamus's group match like every week for the past 3 months... insane

How can anyone watch this... seems like literally the same show with like the same 10 roster members every single week

Jordan 06-03-2022 09:37 PM

Hell in a Cell is a good card I may watch it.

lol wtf

XL 06-04-2022 02:56 AM

Am I right in thinking there are still no SmackDown matches at Hell In A Cell? “Stone Cold” Riddick Mosstin vs Corbin and Ricochet vs GUNTHER both on TV next week?

XL 06-04-2022 03:06 AM

Oh my mistake, Corbin/Moss is on the card for HIAC. Of all the potential matches from SmackDown I wouldn’t have gone for that one.

That’s AEW. They obviously have a cast of 300 that they shuffle around though. It’s the same shit every week though.

Mr. Nerfect 06-04-2022 11:57 PM

I genuinely don’t get the internet’s complaint about rematches. They act like two people having a match back-to-back weeks is some kind of assassination attempt on their interest. It seems like “fake outrage” to me. It’s more action. It’s usually part of the story. People act like if Xavier Woods was wrestling Angel Garza this week instead of Butch it would make something magical happen. Lol, what?

Everyone has the same match. I don’t know why people pretend it’s so different if it’s technically two different people on paper. I guess kayfabe isn’t dead for some.

XL 06-05-2022 02:57 AM

Because the action in the ring is/should be secondary to the story. The same formulaic match with slightly differing results should be driving story progression. If the same acts have been going backwards and forwards for 3 months it speaks to a lack of story progression. It also means there’s “nothing left on the table” for what should be the payoff.

screech 06-05-2022 09:28 AM

The championship contender match is a dumb idea. Just watched RAW and now watching SD. Riddle and Nakamura have a tag title match after winning a championship contender match.

I know not everyone watches both in the same day but I literally just saw these teams face off 20 minutes ago.

I don’t think you’re wrong with what you’re saying, but I disagree that this is necessarily what you’re getting. Story can be driven forward by rematches. Sometimes guys have a rivalry and they’re going to go back and forth quite a few times. The idea that two separate wrestlers having a match together for the first time is the difference between something being fresh and stale is a fallacy that gets in the way of storytelling too.

I’m not saying run Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre every week. But you could run it several times and tell a story with it that doesn’t warrant the internet groans that it would get.

XL 06-05-2022 09:59 AM

It certainly can and in some instances it does (see Cody/Seth for example). You can also go too far the other way (see AEW promoting Dante Martin vs Rey Fenix meeting for the first time as a “Dream Match”).

It’s also fine if you’re not looking to payoff the rivalry at a big show, and with the current model for WWE they don’t even really need to try and build an A1 card for every big show.

The question in this instance would be, “what story has been driven forward in the 3 months New Day have been feuding with the Bruise Buddies?”. At some point you have to start heading to the finish line.

DREAM PARTNER MATCH

Jordan 06-05-2022 12:21 PM

BIGGEST DREAMER MATCH

Lock Jaw 06-05-2022 12:42 PM

It's all just filler until WM

#1-norm-fan 06-05-2022 03:36 PM

Which is also pretty much all filler.

I agree with all of this. Right now the idea seems to be to establish the new heel faction as personalities that have parity with one of the most pushed tag teams ever. They’re showing off Butch’s personality and letting him go off the rails when he doesn’t get what he wants, etc.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-10-2022 09:57 PM

Riddle vs Zayn was tits and a half

Riddle vs Romaine next week for THE GOLD

Mr. Nerfect 06-11-2022 03:34 PM

Lol @ WWE needing to hot-shot a title shot on SmackDown because they’re desperate to catch up.

#1-norm-fan 06-12-2022 01:35 PM

Who was LA Knight’s new guy?

XL 06-12-2022 01:46 PM

They pushed it to next week. Get maximum exposure what with that hot-shot Championship match!

#1-norm-fan 06-12-2022 01:48 PM

He’s gonna be gone within a year, isn’t he?

XL 06-12-2022 03:11 PM

Roman? Probably.

erickman 06-17-2022 08:01 PM

ClockShot 06-17-2022 08:01 PM

slik 06-17-2022 08:08 PM

Going grocery shopping...will tune in later for Roman and Riddle so I can acknowledge our tribal chief

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-17-2022 08:09 PM

I imagine there wasn't much else he could say.

xrodmuc316 06-17-2022 08:10 PM

That was it, he should have at least had New Day come out and dance with him!

xrodmuc316 06-17-2022 08:13 PM

This Riddle speech to Randy is totally secretly about Vince lol

#1-norm-fan 06-17-2022 08:24 PM

Having gotten used to the WWE hype machine over the past 20 years, I expected this ratings grab to be underwhelming but… Jesus Christ.

Bad News Gertner 06-17-2022 09:11 PM

Wow! Vince gets the viewers attention but the action keeps them there! What an episode!
