Love Edge. This is dumb. Love you guys.

Emperor Smeat 01-31-2021 10:51 PM

 Edge won.

Kind of weird how very abrupt that whole ending sequence was like if WWE was suddenly running very low on time. Also made Orton taking that very lengthy nap break utterly meaningless with how quickly it backfired for him.

Match itself was amazing overall.

Bad News Gertner 01-31-2021 10:51 PM

Love the Rumble. That was great.

Volare 01-31-2021 10:52 PM

Both rumble endings were out of left field for me tonight, had a blast the whole way!

GD 01-31-2021 10:52 PM

Edge was certainly not my first choice but I'd take him over Strowman, Riddle or Rollins any day of the week.

GD 01-31-2021 10:53 PM

23 pages for a WWE PPV? Weak as shit :o

I'm okay with it, mostly because it's good to instill some doubt that these kind of obvious ploys aren't always going to work, especially since they usually do in WWE.

I get people not being excited about Edge winning since he's old guard. I think he wants to be around more than a Lesnar/Goldberg, assuming his body can hold up to it this time around.

I'm not sure who else would have been a great choice for either of the current champions, I also imagine they want to have some kind of "name" in one of those spots to try and lure some new subscribers when they move over to Peacock to try and prove they're worth the money to NBC, so let's all just thank god it wasn't Goldberg or Lesnar.

slik 01-31-2021 10:54 PM

I'd go with Edge vs Roman over Edge vs Drew

Supreme Olajuwon 01-31-2021 10:54 PM

Def watching this Yokozuna doc

Evil Vito 01-31-2021 10:55 PM

What sucks about this is they didn't need to reveal Edge was entering the Rumble. He could've shown up at #1 as a mild surprise (only mild because he returned last year/people kinda expected it)...but I don't think anybody's first instinct would be "oh shit Edge is totally going the distance!"

Instead, knowing he'd be in for the past week, people talked themselves into him being on the shortlist of possible winners.

OssMan 01-31-2021 10:56 PM

Great thread guys

Emperor Smeat 01-31-2021 10:56 PM

This year's show was one of the better top-to-bottom Rumble shows in recent years.

Outside of the Women's Tag title being a big dud and the WWE title match being just a typical WWE style Goldberg match, everything else was very entertaining.

Evil Vito 01-31-2021 10:57 PM

Anyway, really enjoyed this show. Dunno if it'll be enough to keep me sticking around til Mania but as a standalone show this was great. I'm a mark for Edge and while he wasn't my first choice, I'm glad he's getting a moment after all the injuries. Women's Rumble was incredible.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-31-2021 10:57 PM

I would've liked a Bryan win but honestly, that was fucking stellar. First ppv I've watched since mania.

I wonder if Edge challenges McIntyre. Run with the McIntyre putting away legends shtick.

If they feed him to Roman, welp, that gives Roman the big match he deserves. So I guess it's cool Edge won.

Sepholio 01-31-2021 10:57 PM

Yeah I mean I'm glad in the sense that I did not see it coming which usually isn't the case. But I feel like Rollins would have been a good match for Roman at mania. Or DBry.

Now I can only hope it's Drew v Edge. Or Orton beats Drew again for the title in the interim but God, Drew/Orton really needs to be over for now. I just really don't want to see SPEAR VS SPEAR as the main event at mania. I just don't.

Bad News Gertner 01-31-2021 10:58 PM

That's how it's done AEW

Lock Jaw 01-31-2021 10:59 PM

They should have had Christian win. Missed opportunity of a lifetime again.

Sepholio 01-31-2021 10:59 PM

Now watch, RAW gets like 3 replies tomorrow night lmao

Evil Vito 01-31-2021 10:59 PM

Christian looked to be in great shape and with such a lengthy run in the Rumble, I'd have to imagine he's getting one last run even if it's just for Mania season.

If Edge is going after Roman, I want E&C vs. The Usos at Fastlane if Jimmy's fit enough to return by then.

Lock Jaw 01-31-2021 10:59 PM

Overall, womens rumble was better IMO....

I mean Christian screwing over Edge for the win would have been even further out of left field and I'd have def popped for it.

Lock Jaw 01-31-2021 11:01 PM

"Interesting" how in the women's division "legends" return and no one really expects them to beat the young fresh blood.... but when "legends" appear in a men's Rumble it is like "yeah they are better than all this young fresh blood, no doubt".

That being said, Christian is better than anybody on the roster and should have won and unified all the titles at Wrestlemania.

RAW is a big problem but on the Smackdown side, could have gone with either Big E if they wanted to go in a Bianca Belair style route in terms of building up a new big star or Daniel Bryan for the established big star name recognition for Peacock reasons.

I would have had Orton come back earlier and screw Edge out of it, leaving Orton, Braun, and Christian....

Braun gets eliminated somehow leaving Orton and Christian.... announcers playing up how Orton came back and eliminated Edge and how Christian hasn't wrestled in ages and how the odds are stacked against him.... but then Christian pulls it out and eliminates Orton and shocks the world!

Wouldn't shock me if Orton won the Elimination Chamber match actually and they went w/ Edge vs Orton again

Evil Vito 01-31-2021 11:08 PM

I miss E&C’s podcast. Hearing them discuss all of this would be great.

GD 01-31-2021 11:11 PM

Riddle looked incredibly good in some parts. It sucks how much of a chore it is to get through his segments on RAW.

Seeing Riddle again just reminded me that he should very obviously be a heel

slik 01-31-2021 11:13 PM

I don't get the no shoes thing, it weirds me out...feet are so gross...

Watching the Yokozuna documentary. It's really good

xrodmuc316 01-31-2021 11:33 PM

Not gonna lie, I assumed when Seth returned, with the people left in the match, that he was going to win. Seth vs Drew would be easy to get up and running again, and assuming Becky is on her way back, it would be a logical way to get Seth back on Raw.

I'm gonna assume now they are either gonna get the belt back onto Orton or they are gonna pull a Charlotte and just kind of add Randy to Edge vs Drew for a triple threat.

slik 01-31-2021 11:35 PM

I am glad we got a Fiend-less Rumble

Posts like this are so fucking dumb

Evil Vito 02-01-2021 12:30 AM

15 entrants in the men’s Rumble, literally half the field, were 40 or older

Moreover, Otis and Dominik were the only entrants under 30.

RP 02-01-2021 12:39 AM

I thought they botched Christian's story in the match. I would have had Braun, Edge and Christian left, but Edge being #1 entrant is completely drained and stands no chance. So during a scuffle, Christian sacrifices himself to take out Braun for Edge and let Edge win.

Then Orton comes back and that whole thing happens.

But overall i have no issue with Edge winning. I didnt want Daniel Bryan. I didnt want Strowman, didnt want Orton or Rollins. They sure werent about to give Riddle that push so it was basically like.. Cesaro? Big E is in a solid spot as IC champ.

Edge made sense and I also dont know why people dont think he'll challenge Reigns. That match is way more interesting and makes much more sense.

RP 02-01-2021 12:40 AM

What happened to Keith Lee?

Triple A 02-01-2021 12:41 AM

Might be a COVID precaution (or he might have it) because his girlfriend Mia Yim tested positive

RP 02-01-2021 12:49 AM

What day did Alleister Black die? I forgot.
