Mostly as I think the story behind it will be that he'll want to stick it to Triple H and Stephanie by winning the title and also show them that he isn't a B+ player by defeating Lesnar, of all people.

Sort of a "Dark Horse pick", but if it is The Rock, it'll be a "Once In A Lifetime" type thing for the title at WrestleMania 31. Rock vs Brock.

Stupid.

I think it was done as a way to get rid of "The Big Gold Belt".

With the logo change now happening, they've made a new WWE Title with the new logo.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BuWqWDaCcAA6ZAb.jpg:large

If the image is real, as it's a pretty low quality image so it could be fake, I'm expecting the new title to be used tonight on Raw, along with the new logo.

Well, I'll say that I really enjoyed SummerSlam. It was a great PPV pretty much from top to bottom.

The only downside was Paige winning the title, but we all know my stance on Paige, but other than that, great PPV.

I hope though that Paige/AJ ends after AJ's rematch and we get someone else in the title picture. I just can't be doing with hearing Paige scream all the time, or attempt to show she has mic skills. She's abysmal on the mic. I would like to see crazy Alicia Fox back in the title picture, or maybe even Natalya.

Anyway, more positive things now and I'd say the match of the night was probably Rollins/Ambrose. Ziggler becoming Intercontinental Champion was pretty great too and it's about time he has his hands on a title again. I get the feeling now that we'll see Ziggler as champion until Barrett comes back. Then we'll see Ziggler/Barrett at whatever PPV is next after Barrett's return. Also, what was with Miz's back? It was completely red, like he got some pretty back sunburn or something.

I was somewhat surprised that Rusev won his match though. I thought that with a storyline like this, with it being USA vs Russia, a big stage would be great for Rusev being handed his first loss, and it being to an All-American American.

Though I will say that it was pretty cool to see a massive Russian flag above the ring, while the Russian National Anthem plays (great anthem by the way) and Rusev and Lana standing triumphantly with their flag over the bodies of their fallen American foes.

http://oi61.tinypic.com/f0nejt.jpg

Such a strong image. It's great.

A quick mention on Stephanie/Brie, and it went pretty much the way I thought it would, though much like everyone else, I too thought Stephanie was looking "Bonerific" last night. Like I said previously, my initial thoughts were that she looked like some kind of sex mistress. Though she was looking in great shape last night and she also looked like she hadn't aged at all. But when she's not wearing her wrestling attire, she does look her age, so I don't know what all that's about. Maybe it was the way her hair was last night, I don't know.

Anyway, for the first time in a long time, I really enjoyed Randy Orton in a match. I don't know what it was, but he was great in his match with Reigns, but it was pretty obvious that Reigns was going to win. I'm just curious to see where Orton goes from here now. Though I will say that I liked the taped hands and different coloured trunks, even though it was only grey. I think Orton should stay away from black trunks for a while and mix it up with various coloured trunks along with his taped hands.

Lesnar/Cena was pretty mad. I don't think I've ever seen Cena get mauled like he did, and I don't think I've ever seen such a one sided PPV Main Event. Still, it'll be interesting to see what happens now as the WWE Champion is now a part-timer. Though now, with Cena losing, if he ever wins the title back, he'll be tied with Flair with sixteen World Title reigns. A part of me looks forward to seeing the reaction that gets, if it ever happens.

I bet Rusev was thrilled, seeing how he's Bulgarian and they like ruskis about as much as we do.

Ok, I know it's a job and kayfabe and all, but it is kinda silly how any Eastern European must be Russian.

I don't think Brock has ever faced Jericho.....would like to see that at the next PPV.

dingdongyo 08-18-2014 10:29 AM

last two matches were super boring. five minutes of decent action spread over 20 minutes of wrestling. i would have been much happier if they cut out all the dead air and ended the PPV a half hour earlier.

Innovator 08-18-2014 10:38 AM

I think you should stop watching.

Brock Cena was good in retrospect because it showed how much Brock outclassed Cena. It told a great story and is setting up to make a future superstar.

The Orton/Reigns match was pretty good for being your typical slow-paced Orton match. Cena/Lesnar told its story the way that it wanted to. All of the matches before were better IMO, but the last two were still good/great.

Sepholio 08-18-2014 11:04 AM

I came here this morning half way expecting to find out I dreamed up that beating in the ME. Can't believe that it's real :o

They had a "blood feud" going into the match and Brie choose to only hit hip tosses. Steph the non wrestler dominates the match.

Those are my problems with it. Brie should have gotten more offense in since she ended up losing.

To be honest, I can barely bring myself to call either one of the Bellas wrestlers... lol.

Steph is in great shape though and is the bully in the storyline. She is also physically bigger and stronger and a former champ herself.

Brie had turned it around and was going to win until Triple H got involved and then she was taken out by Nikki. They couldn't have done anymore to have fans sympathize with her. I never though I would care about this storyline but they have won me over.

I was jaded on wrestling tbh and have not watched much all year, but this ppv was great from top to bottom. They are back on track with Wyatt, they made ambrose and Rollins look even better, put over rusev and reigns huge, did something different in ME scene, gave one of their best workers (and my personal fav) the IC title.

This was a 10 out of 10 for me, loved it

road doggy dogg 08-18-2014 11:37 AM

Yeah I have very little to complain about with this PPV. Even the filler bullshit crap (i.e. Steph/Brie) was actually done quite well. I hope they keep the momentum going tonight on Raw is War Spelled Backwards

Raw si War

¡si!

el bobbo 08-18-2014 11:43 AM

This PPV was kind of weird because mostly heels won. We haven't gotten that in a minute.

Maybe its because I feel Steph booked herself to be stronger than Brie or the fact that the formula usually is for a face to control the opening of a match until a slip up or dirty tactic.

road doggy dogg 08-18-2014 11:50 AM

Not every match needs to follow the same formula.

probably the best one since Mania. was just a really fun show imo.

Dunno how I feel about this, love how Brock looks with both belts, but the new belt would get people to stop saying they will split the titles again.

Kingofdaswing 08-18-2014 03:21 PM

I don't care what anyone says, you can call Randy Orton boring all you want. His performance last night, arguably stole the show. That power slam he countered the spear with was amazing, as was his RKO.

road doggy dogg 08-18-2014 03:33 PM

I wouldn't go so far as to say he stole the show, but he definitely put on a good match with Reigns. Love his powerslam, best in the bizzz

Big Vic 08-18-2014 03:34 PM

Cool King 08-18-2014 04:51 PM

Yeah, what was up with Germany needing four guys to call matches?

Also, that Bernhard Wulff guy didn't look like he was supposed to be there. When the team were introduced at the start of the night, everyone else was talking and all he did was stare directly into the camera like a deer caught in the headlights.

Also, during a few matches, I spotted him in the background doing what looked like texting on a phone, while the others were all huddled around their monitors doing their jobs.

VSG 08-18-2014 05:03 PM

Carsten Schafer looks like he is upset at being showcased. He seems like the old school "stay out of sight, do commentary and focus on the match" kinda guy.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-18-2014 05:18 PM

A true master of the trade.

Rewatched the public execution of John Cena during lunch today. It dragged a bit more in the beginning on a second watching, but it was still pretty unbelievable. Seriously going to have trouble buying anyone as a contender after that, so I'm interested to see where they go tonight.

Brock sitting up and laughing after the Attitude Adjustment was amazing, but Cena's reaction to it was even better:
http://i.imgur.com/WyVw7CS.jpg

They did much better telling a story between the sixteen German Suplexes than they did in any of the Cena/Wyatt matches.

What's the diff between no holds barred or no dq

Jura 08-18-2014 10:08 PM

Brock Lesnar beat the streak and absorbed the Undertaker's power kind of like the quickening in Highlander. That's how he was able to do so many suplexes.
