Not immediately, no. A few years down the line, though, and they would have looked at it with fond nostalgia.

Those two title matches and Lesnar vs Cena reminded me why I love wrestling. Fucking spectacular. Felt like I was a kid again.

Feel like I haven't seen Sin Caraco or Los Matadores on Raw for a while. Given up on those experiments already?

Innovator 01-05-2014 09:35 PM

Roderick tucked his chin, that's on him.

Seth82 01-05-2014 09:37 PM

I viewed it a second time and yep it looks like Roderick's fault.

Noid, you should check out some Shinsuke Nakamura matches. Dude is my favorite wrestler in Japan right now. Has amazing charisma(not just amazing charisma for a japanese wrestler) and he's got this whacky bizarre personality that I've just never seen before.

Oh and he's fucking mint in the ring too. He's probably somewhere on the card on Wrestle Kingdom 8, so I'm sure you'll see him anyway.

Nakamura was voted to be in the main event with Hiroshi Tanahashi, or so I believe. I'm looking forward to seeing their match now. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it how some guys are just "professional rasslers" in the world of puroresu. I don't know much of history, but Tanahashi reminds me of the likes of Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels when it comes to ring presence. He seems to be this guy who is just really good at wrestling and has earned a legion of admirers for it and has a reasonably sized ego, but generally fights honorably. Don't have too much of a problem with that. Simple can be good.

Can't wait to see Nakamura, though, since I do love a good personality in professional wrestling. Especially one that I can't quite pinpoint why I love it so much (The Brian Kendrick, for example).

Fignuts 01-06-2014 05:28 AM

Massive History between Tanahashi and Nakamura. Would equate their rivalry to stonecold and the rock.

They were a successful tag team earlier in their careers. Since then they've both won the IWGP title multiple times. They've faced off too many times to count, but this is actually the fourth time that Tana vs Naka has headlined the Tokyo Dome if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if any other rivalry can say that.

Fignuts 01-06-2014 05:35 AM

Also, here is an awesome match between Nakamura and La Sombra

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/p_SMf5ugQq8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Fignuts 01-06-2014 05:35 AM

Nakamura has a fucking awesome entrance theme too.

Fignuts 01-06-2014 05:36 AM

Kinda gay for Shinsuke Nakamura you guys, in case you didn't notice.

Lock Jaw 01-06-2014 05:37 AM

Is that the guy from 1080 Snowboarding for N64?

Fignuts 01-06-2014 05:47 AM

Probably not.

Maybe.

Mr. Nerfect 01-06-2014 05:47 AM

He's younger than John Cena.

Fignuts 01-06-2014 05:54 AM

Nakamura is the CM Punk of NJPW. Massively entertaining and one of the best in the ring, but for whatever reason has never "the guy". Tanahashi is the John Cena of Japan in many ways.

Lol, I'm enjoying his antics thus far. He's kind of got a drunken master/rock star vibe about him.

Great match with some innovative spots. La Sombra impressed the crap out of me. I love how Nakamura's finishing move actually ended the match too.

I'm watching Nakamura and thinking he could be a player in WWE. It's unlikely, of course, but he's got this energy and style about him that I think could translate well. He clearly has no problem putting a well-paced match together.

Sexton-Hardcastle 01-06-2014 10:55 AM

Sorry to intrude on the enjoyable Jap Chat here...Old School Raw tonight...piecing this together in my head..

Hulk Hogan is supposedly going to play some part in Mania..Too early for a return?

Brrrrock Lesnar reportedly is planning something 'Old School'

In my head that equates to Lesnar decimating Hogan, which can only be a good thing..

Heisenberg 01-06-2014 10:58 AM

Feel free to chime in Sex, Old School RAW tonight

We should be excited for anything, I personally wouldn't be mad to see Hogan come back tonight, I think the Road To WrestleMania should start at the beginning of the year, but we'll see

Sexton-Hardcastle 01-06-2014 11:16 AM

I'm not sure on the whole Hogan thing...The WWE has a superb roster right now and I feel like they should be utilising that to create new stars rather than spike ratings with old timers like Hogan...

He's been absolutely cringeworthy in TNA and hasnt exactly done much for their ratings with his presence..

He's clearly in too bad a shape to wrestle a match and I don't see how he can build someone without putting them over...

And even if he could wrestle and job to some young up and comer how impressive can they make it seem? I mean Hogan as he is now? A teenager could legit take him out...

Innovator 01-06-2014 11:37 AM

I want an ICOPRO commercial tonight

This is exactly why I don't want all these old stars coming back for Wrestlemania! Any other PPV it'd be fine, but this is the big one. The whole world is watching etc. Guys like Hogan have had their moments, it's time to let guys like Antonio Cesaro, Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler show the world what they can do, instead of throwing them in 10-man tag matches every year, or mixed tag matches where the focus is on reality TV stars that nobody cares about.

I think he'd be a great manager for some reason, I wouldn't want to see him wrestle at all. I heard he can't even deliver a Leg Drop

Sexton-Hardcastle 01-06-2014 12:41 PM

I'm not sure I'm interested in seeing him at all. In any capacity...It was his inane involvement that stopped me watching TNA.

Looks like Too Cool are getting decimated by Lesnar tonight in any case judging by the 'Spoilers' on the front page...

Can see Brrrock half botching the F5 on Rikishi now...

Heisenberg 01-06-2014 01:06 PM

I enjoy the classic namebars on OLD SCHOOL RAWs

I was hoping for a manager Hogan and manager Ultimate Warrior to get two guys elevated a bit. I know realistically they hate each other and wouldn't work together

mike adamle 01-06-2014 01:17 PM

Was last years old school raw the one where Punk threw a bunch of ashes all over Undertaker???

Heisenberg 01-06-2014 01:39 PM

yes it was

And improved nametags from what I remembered

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...ith-this-week/

As noted earlier, negotiations between TNA and Toby Keith, who was the main person looking to purchase the company, apparently fell through. Jeff Jarrett was expected to be a part of the promotion in a key role if the sale happened, due to his relationship with Keith. Shortly after talks between Keith and TNA fell through, Jarrett announced that he was parting ways with TNA.
On tonight's episode of his podcast, which you can listen to at MLW.com, Konnan said that he spoke with Jarrett and that Jarrett will be making an announcement this week about a new project. He said that Jarrett told him that TNA is in really bad shape, and that he doesn't know and doesn't care if they see through the year. Konnan then pretty much stated that Jarrett would be starting a new promotion with Keith.

In perhaps an unrelated note, Jim Ross noted on his Twitter last Tuesday that he had a "great meeting with a major sports concern... Could be big...and fun!" He wrote later in the week that he had dinner with Keith and others in New Orleans while he was in town for the Sugar Bowl. A fan mentioned the meeting with Keith and brought up Jeff Jarrett, to which Ross replied:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>“<a href="https://twitter.com/Judge1979">@Judge1979</a>: <a href="https://twitter.com/JRsBBQ">@JRsBBQ</a> Meeting with Toby Keith eh? A quick convo I just had with my brother.

Me: In other news- Mike Jones just got a pay check.

Bro: Who?

Me: lonelyvirgil.net
He's DLC in the new WWE game. Pretty sure this means he got paid for that.

Bro: He held as many titles as Jake Roberts with less than half the charisma. Have him open a gym and call it a day.

Me: Or do drugs, find god, do more drugs, find god, do drugs, move to europe, do drugs, move back to the states, do drugs, find god, do drugs, do yoga, beg fans for money, live with DDP, call it a day.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-06-2014 02:52 PM

Don't know how much of payday he got. They released Virgil DLC for free.
