Instead of being a smart-ass you could've just posted a link. Thanks for nothing, bitch. |
Just got Winter Solider. I will see how good this is.

It's the comic.
|
Which Winter Soldier comic?
There wasn't only one. |
Yeah that didn't suck.
That was a good recommendation there Fignuts and Lock Jaw. |

What's the overall opinon of Chris Evans being Captain America? Favorable? unfavorable?
I don't think I like it. |
I dig it now, seemed odd initially. "Human Torch is Cap?"
|
Yeah I don't like that.
|
|
'So RDJ is playing me and Chris Hemsworth is Thor,
And Cap will look a lot like this guy from Fantastic Four'. Can't be bothered to find the video, but it cracks me up every time. |

I have no problem with Chris Evans. I do like him as an actor. He does always play that cocky guy, and he is good at playing that type of character. I just have trouble seeing him as Captain America.
I don't think he has it. I hope I am wrong. |
Didn't a lot pf people say the same thing when Ledger was cast for TDK?
|
yes
|
But Health Ledger had a better resume. Chris Evans hasn't really been in a hit movie. Let alone be the starring role.
|
well to be fair... heath's hit movie before tdk was playing a gay cowboy. that movie is going to be a hit just because of the content.
|
Michael Keaton surprised the world when he played Batman.
Heath Ledger most definitely surprised the world when he played the Joker. Though I've not seen much of Chris Evans, I haven't seen anything that suggests he couldn't play this role. Say what you want about any of the Marvel films, but I honestly think all of them have been perfectly casted. The people making this film know what they're looking for, and if they see it in Chris Evans, then Chris Evans is Captain America. |
Wolverine 2 will be titled, "The Wolverine".
|
Lol seriously?
X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 - The Wolverine. |
Well, just "The Wolverine" altogether. And it was stressed that this is not a sequel to Origins: Wolverine.
So yeah, the X-Men movie-verse splinters even more. |
Fucking X-Men movie-verse. :foc:
|
Fucking Fox. They need to get their shit together. At this rate there will be a Storm solo film starring Samantha Lathaan that's a sequel/reboot/prequel but will keep Patrick Stewart... as Mr. Sinister.

lol @ The Wolverine

I'm sure the posters will look like this, too:
The Wolverine |
I hate the most of you like comic books.
|
Tyler Mane was a great Sabretooth. Liev Schreiber - not so much, but somehow he made it work.
|
Tyler Mane had the look but he was a poor Sabretooth. Liev had the attitude, but not enough savage nature. Wonder if he'll get another chance at it.
|
I thought Schreiber was a pretty good Sabretooth. Like KT said, he definitely pulled off the attitude.
Mane was alright, but didn't really do much so it's hard to judge. |
A cast photo from Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark, the upcoming Broadway musical.
http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/i...-vogue_510.jpg Alright. That's...something. |
|
Yup, no way that's gonna be fucking horrible.
|
Sounds like a terrible idea... but it's Spider-Man, how could I possibly hate it?
|
Same way I hated One More Day and Sins Past and Spider-Man 3. Crap is still crap, no matter what character is in it.

Guess I quoted the wrong post.

And Denis Leary is Gwen Stacy's father in the Spidey reboot. Please let him do a rant.
|
Captain Stacy should be played by someone with charlton heston or clint eastwood like character. Not a fucking comedian.
|
I've stopped considering past acts of actors when they get roles. After a while you see how many times we're proven wrong and you just learn to 'wait and see'.
|
Yeah, but it's Dennis fucking Leary.
|
I like him a lot.
|
I do too, just not in serious roles.
|
Has it been announced who's playing JJ?
JK Simmons was fucking perfect for that role. Good luck topping that. |
Not yet. Wonder who they have in mind.
|
Quote:
|
I heard John Slattery was one of the names in the frame for JJ.
|
I can't imagine him being better than Simmons.
|
Yeah, frankly he's going to be very difficult to beat. If not impossible.

|
Oh ok, nevermind, I was thinking of Dennis Miller.
OUTRAGEOUS |
Slattery can do that role very well

Back in the comics, we have a new Venom:
http://comicsmedia.ign.com/comics/im...9013323691.jpg He works for the US govt. and presumably still has Spidey/Venom powers along with that extra gear. No one knows who he is yet. He'll star in his own series this Spring. |
Symbiote used as a recon or black ops tool, COULD make for great storywriting.
Better chance that it will be stupid. Also, what happened to scorpion. |
He gets stripped of it against his will in an upcoming comic (not Thunderbolts). Whether he gets his Scorpion on after that is not certain.

Jon Favreau on Iron Man 3
Quote:
That's going to be really hard to pull off. |
Probably be crappy.
If they do bring in Mandarin, I hope they bring back the whole League of the Ten Rings thing from the first movie and not just completely drop that. |
I don't think Favreau is the type of director to not make those connections.
|
I don't know why they just state it like it's a given that we all felt like Iron Man didn't feel like stepping into the Marvel Universe.
It totally did. Just because the characters weren't supernatural or from other planets didn't mean it didn't have that feel in some way. The villain types and everything totally felt comic booky. I don't think I'd really think twice about an alien or something fantastical showing up out of nowhere in a scene. Whoever wrote that makes it sound like it's to the Dark Knight end of the spectrum, when I really don't agree. That's neither a good or bad thing. I think the tone of the Iron Man movies is perfect the way it is, and putting something "unrealistic" in there doesn't change it much for me. I guess because to me it's still in the area of science fiction-y comic book movie, and not a crime drama or something. |
Is the first part of Iron Man better than the second?
Cause I don't think I've seen it sober. |
You know what? Just stop being sober and your problem is solved.
|
That's not so good of an answer.
|
You either wanna watch the movies or you don't.
The whole 'I'm interested while not being interested' was never cute to me. Often employed by people engaging in something they're not completely into and would feel shamed if they showed genuine interest outside of "I was drunk" and "I'm just wasting time" or "I got it for free anyway". Just an observation of mine in this and the VG forum. |
I remember the beginning and think that whole "I'm gonna turn my back on the camera and build me a cool armour" shit was completely stupid.
But I loved the second film. So I was just asking for an opinion if the first movie was any good. |

I think that trailer looks pretty good,
|
Hell yeah that looks FANTASTIC!!! I seem to get this way every time a new Marvel trailer comes out. That looks fucking awesome though.
|
Pretty much the same as the first trailer. with a few new destroyer clips. Still fucking salivating over here.
Thor is still my favorite book of all time. |
Holy fuck balls, if you havn't checked out the recent Spider-Woman comic, get off your fucking ass. I guess it started as one of those digital motion comics or whatever? I dunno I downloaded the regular comic version, but damn if it's not the best book I've read in a long time.
It takes place shortly after secret invasion, and agent brand of s.w.or.d. offers her a job as a detective with executive order, hunting down and killing unwanted alien presences. It's like a gritty, noir detective comic with aliens. Yeah, I know making things "gritty" has become an overdone cliche at this point, but in this case it actually works really well, and is not done, just for the sake of it. Also, the artwork suits the noir style perfectly, and is really really amazing work. Helps that given her backstory, Jessica Drew is an interesting character, made even more interesting by the position she finds herself in after secret invasion. Sure the "Hero framed and unjustly hated by everyone" story has been done countless times, but rarely on this scale. Even more rare is that you really get to see how this affects the character on an emotional level. Usually with this kind of deal, the hero barely notices the hate coming his way, and sets off to clear his name. Well in this case, Drew's name is already cleared, and almost everyone in the world still hates her anyway. And this book really delves into what that does to a person. On top of all that, there is a ton of action too. Very well drawn and put together action, at that. I was actually shocked at how much action there was given that it's mainly a detective story, with all that character stuff I mentioned thrown in. There is a perfect balance of all that stuff though, and the story moves a very good pace, because of it. The bad news is, that despite Bendis having really big plans for the book, it's been put on hold for the moment. The artist is burnt out on the character after the first arc, and looking at how much work goes into the art, I completely believe him when he says he had to eat, sleep, and breathe spider-woman for the entire time he was working on it. And Bendis says he doesn't want to do the book with a different artist, so he will wait until Maleev comes back. Normally I don't agree with that type of decision, but in this case the art of Maleev is just too perfect for the story to accept anyone else. This book is one of those rare cases where everything just comes together, and removing one piece, could seriously damage the work as a whole. That said, it is inevitable that they will return to it, given Bendis' love of the character, and just because of how damn good it is. I will be buying the trade for this, post haste. I suggest you at least download and read this asap. It's only 7 issues in, so it's a quick dl. Get it. |
Never really cared too much about any of the Spider-Women to be hoenst, though if it's as good as you say I may check it out. Can u post/find any pics of the artwork? Kinda interested to see it.
|
|
Also, been reading S.H.I.E.L.D., and that is a really neat book. A little over the top, and one part in particular is a bit ridiculous, but it is all still pretty fun nonetheless.
|
Nice.
|
I feel that in comics, the art can play a major part in whether a book works or not. The original Spider-woman mini series had a good story. It was mostly a tragic story though, and the book was ruined by this lighthearted artwork that completely ruined it. Just did not fit at all.
Similar happened some years back, during the Fantastic Four "Hell" arc. Dr. Doom murders the only woman he ever loved so he can gain enough power as a sorceror to send Valerie Richards to hell. And he adopted armor that looked like stitched together skin. All this in a cartoony art style that you would expect in a squirrel girl comic. Awful. |
I read the Spider-Woman series awhile back. I remember liking it, but it wasn't anything to post TPWW about.
|
I loved the spider-woman series but I missed the sixth issue, still pretty bummed about that.
|
What, only modern fucking classics are worth telling anyone about?
Besides, people have different tastes. Someone else here might like it more than you did, you silly billy. |
Yeah, I was just giving my opinion.
You should check out X-Factor, if you don't read it. It is also like a noir detective thing. Moments in that series have had me dropping my locked jaw with their Awesomeness. |
Numerous reports from Hollywood indicate that Chris Zylka (Hannah Montana) has won the role of Flash Thompson, Peter Parker’s high school nemesis in Marc Webb’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, which begins production this week. Thompson is a high school football star who mercilessly bullies Peter Parker, but who also, in a marvelous example of how Stan Lee manages to humanize his villains, greatly admires Spider-Man’s exploits.
Flash Thompson didn’t have much of a presence in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, but since Webb is taking Parker back to high school, the nasty jock’s role should figure more prominently in the reboot. The Wrap has confirmed that Zylka will get the key role of Flash Thompson. Zylka, who recently played a dimwitted surfer in Gregg Araki’s Kaboom, joins a stellar cast that includes Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field (see “Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben in Spidey Reboot”), Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Dennis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicolson, and Anne Parisse (see “Spidey’s Parents Will Get Screen Time”). |
Tony Stark will have a new suit in Avengers! I also expect to see some Hulk Buster Armor, been that it's almost certain Hulk will be the team's first issue. I also have a feeling most of the costumes will be tweaked anyway.
Marvel's looking toward Avengers, Ant-Man, and Runaways as their next in-house ventures. It seems they reacquired the rights to Punisher as well. Whether that means he'll be assimilated in the grand scheme of things is not stated. My advice, get Thomas Jane back before DC puts his ass in a Jonah Hex reboot/sequel - although that's kinda win-win. Marvel's also looking into the females of the Marvel U, as well as the cosmic sandbox Thor will open up. |
I actually thought Ray Stevens was better.
I mean yeah, Jane is the better actor, no boubt, but stevens captured the character much better, and has a better look for the role. |
Just gonna let everyone know, any book with the word "Avengers" in the title has been great lately.
Except for secret. First arc was kinda dumb imo. |
Quote:
Jane is too cute for The Punisher. |
Jane was great as the Punisher in that he started out as the happy family guy who had just lost his family.
Stevenson was based a few years after, and definitely had that rough, gritty look of a man battling a war for so long. But I agree, they should keep Stevenson. |
