I've watched the three episodes of The Continental over the weekend.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the series. It doesn't really feel like a story that needed to be told, and doesn't particularly add anything new to the Wick Universe. If you want to kill 90 minutes, however, you could do worse than watch an episode. The show also does a good job of recreating the 1970s period, unlike say The Americans, which undermined itself whenever going out to exterior locations, where the foreground was the 1980s and everything in the background was 2010s.

Watching McMillions. Had no idea all the winners of Monopoly for like 10-15 years were in on a scam. Kinda weird remembering how hyped we all were for monopoly growing up and now finding out we had literally no chance of winning because of con artists fixing it.

Mad interesting stuff though.

Been watching through Futurama slowly the past year or so.... finally got up to the current new season that just came out.... Sadly, I can notice a difference in Fry and The Professor's voices... kind of "takes away from it" because their voices were so great and distinct.... I guess it will happen, what with Billy West getting 10 years older since last he did the voices.... though Zoidberg sounds the same...

Only two episodes into the new batch, so maybe I'm just imagining it and I will get used to it....

Would you rather have:

A) the same voice actor but slightly different because natural aging or whatever

B) AI infused voice to make it identical

Not saying I advocate for that choice, but just saying you don't have to go to AI right away....

Watched the first two episodes of the new Frasier and have to say the new cast of characters seems terrible. Niles and Daphne's son is particularly cringeworthy.

Second season of “Our Flag Means Death” is really weird and dark, a lot less funny than the first season to the point it seems like an off-kilter drama written by a Rain Man type of guy. I don’t really like it anymore, the first season only had a couple of truly hilarious episodes and this season has had none so far. It may be time to cut my losses.

I like things with ships in them, be it sea or space. There’s something immensely intimidating and awesome about both to me but I try to watch as much as I can. I can’t just keep watching Master And Commander no matter how marvellous it is.

The adverts for that show seem terrible.

I've got the first book in the Master & Commander series, by Patrick O'Brian, waiting to be read at the moment. Once I'm done reading Children of Dune, I'm going to delve into it.

Black Sails lost my interest fairly quickly, I need a good storyline and that was a wasted opportunity to do an actual series about Barbary pirates. First season was pretty strong admittedly, it just wasn’t enough.

F2movies appears to have gone down, and I'm on the final episode of Justified: City Primeval. They need to sort themselves out.

I've finished the 3 seasons of the 1980s 'Robin of Sherwood' series. I really liked the first two seasons; they played with atmosphere and mysticism, along with the adventure elements, which made it interesting. However, they seemed to abandon most of that in the third season. It also doesn't help that the original actor who played Robin left at the end of the season 2, and he was replaced by Jason Connery, who was ridiculously wooden. The third season also suffers from the appearance of Richard O'Brien, who gurns and camps things up in a number of episodes.

Richard O’Brien is good in exactly two things, The Crystal Maze and Dark City.

Finished Justified: City Primeval (thanks Seanny!). I enjoyed it, though the occasional woke moments marred it somewhat; thankfully they were few. Boyd Holbrook did a good job as the main baddie, but he's no Walton Goggins. However, if they should decide to do another series, we'll get some Boyd Crowder goodness.

With both Robin of Sherwood and Justified: City Primeval done, I need to find my next lot of shows to watch. I've already begun season 3 of Peaky Blinders, so I just need to decide which other show/shows to start.

You should watch “Bluestone 42” on that site. I’m doing a re-watch and I am delighted to see how well it has held up after ten years. One of the great underrated shows of the BBC 3 era.

Gen V first episode is good stuff, I liked almost all of it besides the tiny woman doing that thing. The Boys did it better.

This is maybe half as good as The Boys, so it’s probably worth pushing through but damn if it isn’t annoying with the shitty dialogue.

The more Sam the better the episode quality. So far it’s very annoying but I like that actor/character combo because he’s head and shoulders above the others in terms of performance. There are a lot of bad acting in it, bad acting by middling attractive people.

Zach Snyder sucks at anything beyond straight action with stern faces. He doesn’t do anything else well.

Man alive is the philosophical flip flopping in “Gen V” hard on my ears and brain. This is a “Should I kill Hitler?” moment. I should have stopped watching when the minuscule broad climbed that cock but I assumed it would contain some greatness. It has had some moments that flirted with genius, but it is just a kids show with bad words and bare bottoms in it.

I’m now worried that this will bleed into “The Boys”.

Hmmm the ending was a lot better than I expected, I am glad that it all went tits at the crescendo. I wish they hadn’t had so many lame side-stories though. That less annoying blonde whore became truly insufferable by the end, her whole arc is just troughs, the peaks are only hitting the median and it makes me think even less of sad bastard extroverts. If you want to be a sad bastard, be an introvert and lean right into it so that the world doesn’t feel disturbed by your shit show.

On to Season 5 of Star Trek: TNG....

“Lawmen: Bass Reeves” is finally streaming.
El Vaquero and Drave this is another very specific Western by Taylor Sheridan so you will want to see it at some point.
I have seen one episode, it looks and feels like it will head in the right direction, it was allegedly going to join the Yellowstone/1883 universe but Sheridan decided against it in pursuit of a more faithful and coherent storyline. Already he is mixing fact with supposition and it is a sight to see.

The cast in the first episode is lead by three actors who have all earned an will likely deliver a career masterpiece. Barry Pepper in particular, he really has had a long and storied career. It’s just excellent casting to put him up against Oyelowo and to put Oyelowo up with Wigham earlier. I imagine the series follows Oyelowo as he tracks Pepper given the circumstances of the opener, but it’s a weekly 8-parter so it has plenty of hours left to go.

I’m watching episode 2 tonight, if it isn’t spectacular I will be surprised.

Taylor Sheridan is an industry on his own.

Dennis Quaid is playing as far against type as it could be in this second episode, he’s going to get an Emmy.

I just watched Blue Eye Samurai. Not really ever been into Anime but it was pretty fuckin dope.

Yellowstone has been a bit of a slog, honestly. We've not even finished the 1st season. It's okay, it just isn't the same. This looks promising, however.

It is rough and tumble fare, a big boy TV show for men with evolved hearts.

David Oyelowo is ripped, so ladies may enjoy it too.

I think I've preferred the Legacy series to the original one, even though there is a distinct lack of Lance Reddick (RIP).

Seems to be going in a really different direction... if I wasn't already familiar with the original, might be confusing... feels like a "What If" show...

I put that on to convince my mother to finish watching it. She wasn’t having any of it.

I mean, it might be the greatest scene ever. But it's simultaneously the worst thing I ever watched.

Finished the show today... though it was gonna be just an animated adaptation of the original story but it is very much a sequel/multiverse/What If thing.... original movie/story knowledge pretty much mandatory

Got to the 3rd season of Yellowstone over break. Exceptionally well done show, loving every episode. It's become one of those shows which seems like they are over quickly because they're so good you don't realize you've been watching it so long.

Somehow L to the OG was more cringe than that for me. But mannnnnnnnn was that an expertly crafted sequence. I shrivelled on Roman's (and his penis's) behalf.

Midway through Star Trek: TNG season 6.... so I started to watch Star Trek: DS9 alongside it, since that is when it started. Problem is that I guess TOS and TNG were both "remastered" at some point, while DS9 was not... so visually just looks terrible and fuzzy

DS9 only gets really good towards the end of season 2. And it's pretty blech until then. But then all of a sudden it becomes one of my favourite shows ever.

That's kind of why I started it beside TNG, so that by the time I only have DS9 left it will be better.

Like most Star Trek series, DS9 doesn't really get going until season 3. Until then, you have the lovely Jadzia Dax to admire.

As the series also has a lot of non-Starfleet characters, I find from a character standpoint, DS9 is superior to the other shows. Quark and Garak are gold.

Garak is a favourite all time character for me, nvm star trek. In the Pale Moonlight is a fucking masterpiece.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is shaping up to be just shy of eternal greatness but right up there with the best intentioned and well realised efforts in the TV western genre.
It is not 1883, but it isn’t over yet. It is easily 3.5/4.

I hope this spawns a bunch of “Lawmen:” type series. So many great historical figures to choose from. Maybe we’ll get lucky and Taylor Sheridan will do Hickock some justice. Only “Deadwood” dared attempt it, and a worthy claim it has to best ever representation.

Damb at this early episode of DS9 with an airborne virus and quarantine being enforced.... but then despite being airborne ain't nobody using masks, not even the doctors and nurses working directly with the infected...

A top-drawer series that has restored my faith that smart shows with complex characters and great stories still exist, and not all have succumbed to 'The Message' and the poor, lazy writing that comes with it.
