This was the first Vikings game this year that was entertaining to watch. The offense was actually working. Let's keep this up.

They are definintely flying under the radar, but it may be too much to ask for them to go over SD/Denver, Cincinnati/Baltimore, not to mention that Jacksonville has the tie over them.

I wouldn't be reluctant to say that they could still win their division if they can split with the Patriots.

"Brad Johnson here's the gameplan: Hit the open man."

"Oh word? That's all it takes?"

"Yep."

"Okay well... let's do it to it!"

Haha nah he wasn't that good anyway. Getting a 95 yard run will make your offense seem great, when your defense takes a HUGE STEAMING SHIT on the defending Superbowl losers.

HEY THE MIZ, WHATS UP?

DrA 10-23-2006 12:07 AM

Not good for San Diego as they're already lacking somewhat in the linebacker category.

They should sign Brock Lesnar and put him at OLB. Imagine a dude that strong who can run a 4.4 40 rushing the QB, then doing an SSP over the blocking back... right onto Jake Plummer's head.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-23-2006 01:13 AM

I suppose he flipped the switch on his arm before he injected himself.

Can you imagine how out of position he would be on a simple counter play

JUST FUCKIN WITH YOU MENG, but seriously you got a sick Brock Lesnar fettish you gotta get over. Seems like you bring that dude up a lot, he wouldn't be good in the NFL. I don't care how many times he can power bomb the Big Show, doesn't really translate into real sports.

Sup with livin' in the past, Michael Stima, I haven't even uttered his breath, even in the throes of orgasm, for probably a year. I used to argue that he'd be fine, and sure he'd be out of position on a counter, but listen. You get a guy like Levon Kirkland or some old dude who is stout against the run, then you bring in Brock for passing downs. In the 3-4 there's one guy always blitzing, isn't there? Last year it was Merriman. He wasn't in on every down. Same with Suggs, when the Ravens were 3-4, Suggs was only 3rd downs, Adalius Thomas was 1st and 2nd.

So you take someone like Lesnar and you just say "Get the QB."

He will.

Of course, isn't Brock like 30 now? :(

AlphaBean 10-23-2006 02:07 AM

So yeah basically the only reason I brought up Brock is because... who the fuck is available? When the Steelers have to bring in Chad Brown, you know there's some linebacking issues. Cowart, Gildon, Claiborne, Posey I think... dunno, they should be able to find somebody I guess, but nobody with 3-4 experience... except Gildon who's pushing 45 and I don't think played last year after playing end for the Jags.

DrA 10-23-2006 02:08 AM

I bet Brock couldn't break 5 on a 40 yard dash.

You act as if former big name guys are the only players out there on the market. There probably are a ton of linebackers out there that you have never heard of that could be brought in to start and do just as well as any other starter on the team.

SOME OF THEM MAY NOT EVEN BE ON YOUR FREE AGENT MADDEN ROSTER *GASP*.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-23-2006 02:14 AM

Yeah Gates has people drunk on the idea that people outside of football can be good in the football just because they are good athletes. It takes more than that

K name them.

PS: I only named big names because I don't know names, not because those are THE ONLY names. I'm just too lazy to read the waiver wire.

So like I said... give me a list of the good veteran outside linebackers, preferably ones who have experience in the 3-4.

DrA 10-23-2006 02:31 AM

That is my point: I do not know them either; I am not a scout. I'm just saying that there are some guys who can be selling cars one week and can be returning kick offs for the Ravens the next. You don't have to be a big name to make it in the NFL.

Depending on the system, for sure.

But at linebacker, it helps to not suck. Though I dunno, Vikings' best linebacker not named EJ "Hasselbeck breaker" Henderson... or Ben "I might be White, dunno" Leber... is Heath Farwell, undrafted FA who dominates on ST and in preseason with the 2s and 3s... I bet he could succeed somewhere, but then... he's not a "name." Like Napoleon harris, ugh.

Anyway, it's better to have a scrub who knows the system than a player who doesn't know the system, BUT if you NEED to get somebody, you should probably find somebody who has NFL experience who knows a certain coaching style. Defense is a lot harder to expect from a Car salesman... than the whole "run in a straight line" thing the Ravens kick returner can do...

DrA 10-23-2006 02:55 AM

You're right about that, but I think it was Kevin Kaesviharn (it actually might have been someone else), the safety for the Bengals, that went to some weird college and was working as a substitute teacher before he made it with Cincinnati.

You just never know when a Tom Brady will come out of nowhere and becomes a star for their team.

Rep for that because its the truth. Don't believe it, look how far Lavar Arrington has fallen off

He was ridiculous in Washington, the Gibbs came back, changed the system and he became very pedestrian, he's the same with the Giants. Talent isn't everything, the right system goes a lot further than just raw talent, specifically on defense

Peyton Manning is MVP of the league right now. As much as no one wants to admit it.

RP 10-23-2006 04:41 AM

The dude got bent up into a pretzel and came back and dropped bombs on Washington.

Dungy said it best " He's alot tougher then people think ".

I thought for sure he was out for atleast 6 weeks atleast when i saw that hit.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-23-2006 04:51 AM

Are you implying that Peyton Manning is under appreciated because if you are then you just typed the stupidest comment ever posted on the internet.

RP 10-23-2006 04:57 AM

Do you see any implications in my post? Do you even know what an implication is? Obviously not, or you just dont know how to read. Take this moment to go edit your post if you want.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-23-2006 04:59 AM

I stand by my statement.

RP 10-23-2006 05:02 AM

Why dont you point out that " implication " there smart guy. Then stand by that statement.
