The girlfriend has never watched One Tree Hill so we are watching that.
For me without her, I am watching Friday Night Lights for the first time. I have loved every second of the show. |

This short film is better than 1923 |
I forced myself to watch season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery, after initially abandoning it about 10 mins into the first episode, some time ago.
The Michael Burnham character is still perhaps the most annoying, smug ST character ever created. It also annoys me that every ten seconds the story has to stop so everyone can talk about their feelings. Also, everyone continues to act like overgrown adolescents. Fuck off, already. |

It was your post you gherkin |
Jokes on you, my short-term memory loss + pyromancer skills don't leave many things in memory beyond a day, maybe.

Yeah this is why you’ll be the one person in this particular forum who is actively moderated.
|
Fuck yeah, get in!

It astounds me that you both cannot remember how you made a fool of yourself and cannot back down from the results.
I know you think you are dying and nothing matters anymore but you need to pull your socks up at least. If I have to pull them up for you we will be here all day. |

Don’t worry about it, I work in a mental health care home so pulling socks up for mad cunts is nothing new to me

I NEEEEEED TO KNOW
|
It was unacceptable behaviour in the sense that it could only ever make you look bad. The thing is that you clearly won’t remember most of your insults and overreactions so I am skimming off the shit that might get you a fat lip.
|
I am doing for you what I sincerely hope somebody will do for me someday. I’ll be in my sixties or seventies though.

I'll take the fat lip. You sound like an overbearing cunt of a mother. |
Destor would never have moderated you in the first place, but that’s what I get for looking out for you.
Ok drave, have it your way. You can be Dean Martin while I stay John Wayne. |
John Wayne was a hack and a phony. Makes sense.
|
John Wayne was an actor and far from a hack. Have you watched his entire back catalogue from 1940 onwards?
This is an argument I’m very prepared for. |
I was going to do a big John Wayne post and I probably still will because I just spent most of my year watching Westerns and he has been a beacon of hope in that time. More trustworthy than any man to make a watchable Western.
How fucking dare you. |
Nope, I wouldn't waste what time I have left, partner.
|
Jesus Christ man.
How long have you got? |
Fuck knows, too long really.
|
“Rio Bravo” and “The Sons Of Katie Elder” must be seen, as must “True Grit” and “The Shootist”.
John Wayne was a great actor from 1959 onwards. His earlier stuff is more formulaic and boorish but he makes up for it by being incredibly visual. He looks fantastic in everything he ever did. I like to fall asleep watching his old B-movie westerns nowadays. He has way more shitty old b movies than he has classics, the man earned his place. John Wayne is one of my heroes, along with the inescapably talented Burt Lancaster. Great men in a great time. I wish now was then. |
Starting watching Netflix's One Piece... two episodes in and enjoying it....
|

I'll never watch one. I've also never heard the song "Sweet Caroline" which I've learned drives some people mad. |
Over the past couple of days, I've watched through Special Ops: Lioness.
If I'd known it was a Taylor Sheridan series, I would have gotten to it quicker. Another quality programme from Sheridan. I wouldn't mind seeing a second season; I think there are legs for more stories, though perhaps not with the Cruz character. On a related note, what the hell has Nicole Kidman done to her face? She is only 56 and she is unrecognisable. |
Taylor Sheridan....
how many kinks did he work into this show? |
Just lesbian sex. I'm not sure if that is a kink, but the characters doing it seemed to be straight. Bi-curious perhaps.
|
Well ofc.... because someone can't be a lioness and doing "manly" stuff without also muff diving.

Started Justified City Primeval. I dig it so far. V different from original series. I miss Boyd, but I like the new setting. |
I’ll start “Justified” before my holiday ends. I was very excited by the promotion and the subsequent reviews. I just love the character and the writing, but a huge part of the original was the cast. I’ll just have to trust it.
|
I saw Arcane on Netflix and thought it was pretty good. Having never played League of Legends, I was glad how accessible the show was.

Going to watch Cunk on Earth…

That was good but my fav episode was "Bad Day" starting off so low key and continuing to ramp up each minute.

Finished watching One Piece. Liked it a lot, looking forward to season two.
|
Re: Justified Primeval. Boyd Holbrook as Clement Mansell fills Walton Goggins’ shoes quite admirably.
|
Boyd Holbrook is another movie star destined to dominate whatever TV he picks up, that’s why. He didn’t take off like he should have either. Good parallels but sort of sad ones. You get more for your money with tv so I can’t complain.
|
I finished the second season of Foundation last night. I didn't think it was as good as the first season, but still entertaining.
I also recently finished re-watching the first season of Lost in Space. I remember really enjoying it the first time round, but on the second go it ended up being used as background noise. I'm now on to the second season, which I haven't seen. I've decided to go a bit old school and I'm watching the first season of the 80s series, Robin of Sherwood. It is probably the best adaptation of Robin Hood, being grittier than other incarnation, along with its use of atmosphere and pagan mythology. Its from the 80s, so there is a certain level of cheese involved, but if you can get past that, the series is a must-watch. I have also begun the second season of Good Omens. |
Lol the last episode of justified city primeval was something else. Almost a practice in unbridled camp and they were so on the nose with some of the foreshadowing that you can basically call everything. Still fun and the very last bit of it was a good romp but I can’t help but feel it was a bit rushed and rote.

Started watching The Sandman. What’s with the strange aspect ratio?
|
You'll enjoy The Sandman. It is the epitome of 'woke.'
|
Quote:
El Vaq - WOKE!!! |
You'll see.
|
Episode 5 is mental so far. Jesus
|
Watching the first few seasons on Cops. Much better than what it has become
|
Episode 6 was even better
|
"When people are accusing me of being quote-unquote 'woke' for Sandman stuff that I wrote 35 years ago, I-- it's like, 'Well, yes,'" Gaiman said in an interview with Times Radio. "I remember when instead of calling it 'woke,' they called it 'politically correct.' And then you talk about 'political correctness gone mad.' And I remember once reading a book where they started talking about political correctness and the fact that you could no longer make jokes about people's ethnicity or religion in the same way. And I thought, well, actually, that's just-- that's not 'political correctness.' That's just 'treating other people with respect.'"
|
The Sandman is the opposite of "woke".
Because he puts people to sleep, you see. |
Quote:
|
I think they had a 'woke' checklist and they ticked each item off every episode. It was adorable. Story and strong, consistent characterisation were thrown out of the window in favour of 'the message.'
I did enjoy the episode with Death, though. |
I think it’s adorable that you liked the “Death” episode considering how woke it was.
|
Vaq, there is literally nothing worse than people complaining about shows being woke. It screams of middle-aged virginity.
|
Yo! The last episode is quite bonkers…

Further proof that the guy called Gay Man is a penis |
Every quote Neil Gaiman comes out with makes me want to punch him in the face. Not understanding why PC culture was a bad thing and then doubling down on it is exactly why the West looks so fucking ridiculous to the rest of the world.
If he wants to treat people with respect he should stop churning out his childish dross and write something a big boy might enjoy. |
I stan Gay man.
Also, Seanny, catch up on Justified Primeval so we can complain about it (and celebrate some of it) together. |
Olyphant and Holbrook  <3
|
It's a lot of handsomeness for one show. Almost too much.
|
Yeah I’ve been meaning to watch it but I ended up starting “Newsradio” from the 90’s and I can’t stop watching it. It’s fucking hilarious, even Joe Rogan is good in it.
|
I might start it tonight but I have two days off coming up so I can binge it if necessary
|
Phil Hartman was one funny dude… NewsRadio was carried on his and Stephen Root’s shoulders. Feels weird watching it knowing he’s a season or two away from dying…
|
Which streaming service is NewsRadio on? Will prob check that out when finished with Seinfeld.
|
It’s a pirate site that collects new stuff from pretty much all streaming services and old stuff from fuck knows.
|
Been watching what we do in the Shadows. Just got to season 4 after starting it a week ago.
|
I still haven’t seen season 5, season 4 was a real drop in quality.
|
Onto season 4 of “NewsRadio”, Phil Hartman’s last before he was murdered by his wife. He’s pretty much the only reason I’m still watching it, the episode quality is inconsistent but he and Stephen Root are always fantastic.
Hartman plays buttoned up crazy better than anybody, he looks completely normal so when his face changes into his intense, glazed, far-away expression but his voice stays strangely comforting… it cracks me up every time. I’ve only rewound his and Stephen Root’s best gags through three full seasons, and I haven’t done it many times. Still, he carries the show with his quality. I’m pissed off he died so young. He’d only be 70-ish now. |
Finally watched the first episode of Ahsoka. Man...it's truly going to be a grim day when Clancy Brown leaves us
|
Clancy deserves a starring role in a Fincher or Scorsese movie.
|
Does he trust his wife?
|
Seanny casually neglecting the brilliance of Khandi Alexander, who is also exceptional in Treme.
|
She’s alright, all tits and teeth though.
|
There’s a bit where Phil Hartman acts out the fantasy of having Diane Sawyer eat birdseed out of his hand and he pulls a completely insane face that fucking killed me. Just staring off into the distance leering like a nut. Fantastic stuff. I want to find a clip of it but it’s actually difficult to even find a reference to it online.

Finished Star Trek: TNG Season 3, on to season 4.
Feel like halfway through Season 3 it "picked up" to "I can actually stomach to watch more than one episode a day" |
Living with Chucky on *Screambox* available elsewhere.
Shitty shitty editing. Don approved because it skimmed 1 and 2 so fast. |
the last half obvi has more energy

I've finished all three seasons of Lost in Space. It has a penchant for being corny, but beyond that it is a good adventure show that will appeal to those with kids. The first season is alright, but the second is far superior, and the final season is somewhere in between.
Over the last few days I've watched the seven episodes of Ahsoka that have been released and I'm just waiting for the final one. It is an improvement on the third season of The Mandalorian, but it is not as strong as Andor. I am, however, enjoying the gratuitous shots of Hera's and Sabine's derrieres. I've watched the first episode of season 2 The Wheel of Time. I'm waiting until the final episode of The Continental is out before I start that show, which should be at the end of this incoming week. |
Too many shows to keep up with, have paused my Western phase to get back up to date.
Been meaning to try out some themed reviews soon too, hopefully I can sort that out so I have extra incentive to get writing again. |
In continuing my recent trend of watching all the big name shows I never watched for whatever reason (things like The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, etc), I decided to go ahead and watch a more recent one I had been skipping: Yellowstone.
And again I feel like such a dumbass for not watching this the whole time save for the fact that I can watch straight through without having to wait years. Also I would like Bethany Dutton to do really bad things to me. |
If you haven't done already, you need to watch the prequel series to Yellowstone: 1883.
That series is top drawer. |
Started season 5 of WWDITS last night… it’s back to being brilliant. Nadja sucks now but they saved the show as a whole.
|
Quote:
1883 is perfect. I wanted more of it, but at the same time, didn't because it just is so well done. |
Season five of “What We Do In The Shadows” isn’t just a return to form, it’s one of the best seasons. Nadja spends four or five episodes sucking the fun out of her scenes but after that she’s golden again. Her tits seem bigger too, she must have had a kid.
I’m happy they got back on track, all they had to do was go back to basics. More from next door Sean too, he’s always a treat. |
Been watching Gen V. Loving it so far
Also Tek Knight |
I've completed the (presumably) first season of Ahsoka. Whilst it was watchable, I found it oddly flat, and it suffered from occasional lazy writing.
I've also finished the second season of The Wheel of Time. I always like a fantasy series, and this one is no exception. As I've never read the books, I don't know if and how they may have deviated from the source material, but it is enjoyable enough. |
