The reasoning behind the game not coming to the US or Europe for the Xbox 360 is mainly due to the publishers changing.
Ubisoft was willing to publish and distribute both games in the Wii series for easy money but the HD ports required Ubisoft to help in funding. Ubisoft saw the return sales not worth the time and Konami picked up the rights to publish. Konami also saw it would be easier to port Wii controls to Move controls and the Japan Xbox 360 version is rumored to have been a mess with bugs. Konami doesn't want to do anything extra to fix either game besides some funding. |
Fuck em all.

A new type of console:

I saw something very similar to that years ago. Though I think it was just 2-color LCD screens and not full color.

You are insane. Great game. |
Noh dude I can't stand it. I dunno. Feel like I would like it a lot if I actually got to build up my characters and not worry about sending them away after 4 dungeons, and worrying about exploring stuff since you only have a certain amount of "periods." Started playing the second one and like it a lot better so far.
|
You don't have to send them up to Asgard or whatever it's called, you can keep them the entire game if you want. Battle system is great too.

"I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite free DLC on the PlayStation Network." When you start the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, you'll be able to start off looking sharp -- as sharp as someone who pre-ordered the original versions of the game from GameStop, in fact.
The Terminus armor (which increases running speed and shields, and augments ammo capacity) and the M-490 Blackstorm Heavy Weapon (which creates tiny black holes), offered with Xbox 360 and PC pre-orders of ME2, will be distributed to PS3 Mass Effect 2 players for free via PSN through February 23. |
So, was Mass Effect 2 delayed on the PS3? I thought they came out together?
|
It was 360/PC exclusive until it was announced August 18th
|
Weird. When I was entering all the preorder/LE codes and registering it online and whatnot it asked me to whether I was a PS3 or 360 player.

February 16?! You fucking mother fuckers. Having to wait another month for hard corps is fucking bullshit.
Pretty pumped for Good and Evil though. Never got to play that. |
Figures, I delete a bunch of people from the friends list that I never play with, and a day later, they all want to play COD with me. Fuck's sake.

THQ's upcoming shooter Homefront will have an Online Pass but THQ will let rental and used buyers to level up in multiplayer up to Level 5 as a cap.
No time limit will be done either but in order to unlock stuff passed Level 5 (out of 75), the pass needs to be bought. One rumor to why THQ decided to change its stance on its Online Pass might be related to the awful sales of its games in 2010 and needed to do something different with the pass, especially with new titles that are not established series. In comparison, all of EA's pass-enabled games give just a few days for free before locking out all of the multiplayer modes unless the pass is bought. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...10-04-w800.jpg http://kotaku.com/5727005/homefront-...-features-free |
Don't care. Will be buying Homefront new.
|
I'm interested in Homefront.
|
I enjoyed Frontline. Battlefield with some neat concepts thrown in. Cool maps too.

Bioware holding a promotion for free Dragon Age II DLC with a catch. If you pre-order the game before January 11, The Exiled Prince DLC package is free as a bonus. After January 11, the DLC is set to cost 560 MS points.

Since Japan's prices are always more expensive than US prices, 3DS games might be around $40-$45 with $45 being the Gamestop/bigger name games prices. |
Well, I preordered DA2 last year, so I'm golden.
|
Playing Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner, pretty insane game. Don't know why they haven't put one out for PS3 yet, especially since the PS3 still "lacks exclusives" and Kojima said he wasn't doing another Metal Gear Solid.

Give it time...
|
New Suikoden game first, then a Z.O.E 3 imo.
|
Just played Suikoden for the first time last night
|
Yeah, bought suikoden as well, from psn. Only just started, but I like it. Classic 2-d jrpg goodness. Hope they eventually release the sequels, as I hear those are good as well.
|
I think the 2nd one is on the PSN store as well. Best of the series.

Fuck that, I wouldn't be able to do anything!
|
Noh I don't think Suikoden 2 is on there. Which sucks because it's one of the few games that I would actually buy off of it cause it's like $150.
|
Look in some mom and pop video game stores. Most of the times the ones around here have no idea how much a game is really worth and has it cheap. Friend of mine found Valkyrie Profile for 5 bucks at one when it was still selling used for 30-40 bucks in other stores.
|
Should come out with a suikoden collection. There's 5 right? I'd buy that.

Don't forget Suikoden Tactics

Activision having a 50% off sale on select games and DLC stuff until January 17 on Xbox Live Arcade. PSN and whatever Activision uses for PC games are not part of the discount promotion.
The sale is mainly on "old" XBLA games and CoD map packs older than Modern Warfare 2. Quote:
-------------------------------------------- In other news, Hard Corps Uprising set for a February 16 release date on both XBLA and PSN with a $15 (PSN)/1200 MS points price tag. |
Yeah. The hard corps thing has been mentioned. I know because it sent me into fiery rage that destroyed 2 city blocks.
And an oxygen bar. But that was unrelated. |
LOL I'm glad I didn't buy Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock. The DLC since it came out has sucked balls. Save from shit we already have on RB.

Retro Studios revealed some concept art for Donkey Kong Country Returns with the majority of the art being unlockable in the game itself.
The art comes from around the time very early in the game's development and when the art style had already been decided upon. Some of the art shows off ideas of levels borrowed from the Virtual Boy or the Mario vs DK handheld series. http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/ass...dkcr_ca_11.jpg http://kotaku.com/5731191/who-knew-d...-this-gorgeous Link with more of the art: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=201409 |

Sony's going legal against the hackers and it's gone a bit weird. If you've agreed to the EULA on a firmware update, you apparently agree to be sued in California no matter what country you're in.
Sony has also sent Geohot $1 to his email address via paypal to try and prove he was taking donations for his work. Shady as fuck. |
But he never asked for donations. Dunno how much water that'll hold
|
I, on the other hand am holding a lot of water. On my third gallon so far today. :-\
|
Sony is telling reporters and other sources that the PSP2 should be as powerful as a PS3 but didn't explicitly say it would be a portable "PS3". It would confirm the early reaction of EA saying it was basically like a PS3.
They also hinted at both digital and disc copies of games while no earlier than a late 2011 release date. Also possible is some sort of phone function similar to Skype but nothing big or else they would be competing with the "Playstaion" Phone from Sony-Erickson. It could hint at a very expensive price for the handheld and a potential increase to PS3-level for games. It took Sony until 2009/2010 to make a profit on PSPs and mid-2010 before making a profit on the PS3. Last reports showed Sony very worried about excessive heat and a very horrible battery rate from prototype models. http://kotaku.com/5732402/sony-telli...erful-as-a-ps3 |
Something that powerful makes me feel like I'm living in the future.
|
They'll have to make it really expensive and no one will buy it. If you make a console with fancy specs, you'll need to charge a lot for it which will turn people off. I can't understand why Sony can't seem to grasp that concept.
They did the same thing when the PS3 was first priced. "Five hundred and ninety nine US dollars!" Doing the same technology with a handheld will surely cost even more so it would be around about the same price as the PS3 itself. |
Dreamcast Collection has turned out to be the 4 games announced for PSN and XBLA, but on disc for 360 and PC.
To be fair, Sega Bass Fishing, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure and Space Channel 5 Part 2 for $30 (which is what it appeared on Gamestop for) is a pretty good deal. |
Still shit, though.
What's the fucking point, when a lot of people already own these games on Live/PSN? |
Dunno why they couldn't have done the games through Steam anyway, only one I've not got on DC and would want would be Space Channel 5 P2 since it didn't come out in English.
But I'll probably still get the 360 collection for cheap anyway. |
Would have been better if Sega somehow included a fishing controller like they did for the Dreamcast version of Bass fishing.
Knowing Sega, they probably lost the source code to a good amount of Dreamcast games and can't just make "quick" ports for the collection. To be fair, a lot of gaming companies don't have great archives for their stuff either. |
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...h/495928ad.jpg
Yeah, not entirely sure how I get laid myself. |
Honestly don't know why Sega don't do an "Unrealeased Arcade Collection" and get games like SCUD Race and Daytona USA 2 onto home consoles before MAME gets them on PC.

Recent preview for Dead Space 2 shows the game changing a bit more than expected or from Dead Space 1.
It appears the 2nd game is getting a lot of influence from Bioshock 1 while also bringing more diverse settings and areas than the first game had. It also appears that the demo's choice for the game was pretty bad since the previewed parts of the game (1st set of levels) created a different feeling and gameplay. Quote:
http://kotaku.com/5733872/dead-space...yline=true&s=i ------------------------------------------------------------------------ For bad news, hackers found a way to exploit trophies similar to hacking achievements on the Xbox 360 but there is a problem synchronizing previous earned trophies with "cheated" trophies for certain games. |

So Midway had a game called "Hero" in development when the company shut down. It was an open world superhero game where you could create your own character complete with costumes and powers. Whoever uploaded them to YT talks at the start of the first video and at the end of the second.

Electronic Arts following what Activison did this week by holding their own 50% off Sale on select Xbox Live Arcade stuff starting January 18. Also just like Activision's sale, PSN, Steam or other PC providers, and WiiWare not part of the promotion.
Unlike Activision, EA hasn't released a compete list so its possible they could add more stuff but right now it is a pretty small list. Also hinted was nothing from Dead Space Ignition and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit DLC will be in this sale. Quote:

If they're putting Deathspank on sale, they should do me a favour and put Deathspank 2 on sale.

I'm still not sure why they're doing a direct sequel to the worst received FF game of all time. Playing that would be like redocerig miraculously from AIDS and then thinking "I miss that AIDS, I wish I had more".

Squenix has been clear in the past that they wanna do sub-series of their FF games just as they did with FF7 and FFX to a degree. No point creating a new universe with each game but having one dip into it. I like that people who enjoy the universe can get new stories and gameplay from it.
Kinda wish they had this model for FF8 and FF9, myself. |
That's what I mean though. Ignoring the horrid gameplay, the universe sucked horribly. They should have just written off their loss and made FFVI-2 or XII-2.
Only reason I have hope for Versus is it's gritty real-world based trailer with crazy FF style monsters still, completely away from those awful FFXIII environments and characters. |
I like FF13's design. In fact I'm down with most of the designs. FFX's Caribbean vibe was stretching it but I dug it.
|
As crappy as FF13 was, I think the sequel will probably be better. I read a thing from someone who was on the main team who developed FF13 and it was him basically apologizing for how bad the overall quality was. Of all the games that need a sequel though, come on.
|
FF12 did get a sequel, right? On DS?
|
XII Revenant Wings was alright, but the battle system on PS2 is what really sold lemon that game. Need more of that.
|
Yeah Revenant Wings. And FF12 was good. My friend says Revenant Wings was really good also, and it actually explored the character of Penelo a little bit which was definitely needed since she is of no importance to the story of FF12 except for being Vaan's friend.
